And Jesse, some of those arrested are teenagers here. Mike, the youngest is just 16 years of age. A quarter of those arrested are juveniles. Investigators say all are accused of committing the worst, most violent crimes on the streets of San Jose. Until they were caught this past spring. People who are committing violent felonies on the streets of San Jose who are gang members are taken into custody and put behind bars. Thursday, San Jose police announcing a dozen alleged gang members have been caught. The suspects range in age from 22 down to as young as 16. Three of the 12 are juveniles. All of them are charged with violent felonies involving gang enhanced and involvement. The most serious of which some of were gang related attempted homicide, armed robberies, drug trafficking, gun possession, ammunition, police officials say their gang investigation unit goes to salt unit and Special Operations unit combined to track the dozen alleged criminals dating back to last fall. Nine are now in the Santa Clara County main jail, and the three juveniles are in the county's juvenile detention center. They're looking for connection like friends, family that perhaps is not present in their home. This is a problem everywhere. There are a large array of gang activities, all across the country with younger people reaching out to not only people of their same age, but reaching out to younger people. San Jose police won't say where or when the alleged crimes occurred, but they do say they involved murders, weapons and ammunition. Kids become enamored with that lifestyle and become become members of those organizations. Experts say that emotional opening allows gang members to target children and teens as recruits to help expand their criminal reach. Unfortunately, this happened in your community, and it's going to happen in another community this week somewhere else. It's what's going on right there. Jesse or what's going on now with these kids of these ages. Police are imploring parents to keep a watchful eye over their children and their neighborhood to lessen the influence of gangs and criminals. It's not just a police matter. It's a community matter. It's a it's a societal matter that is much bigger than the police department. The adults face arraignment on a laundry list of charges. San Jose police want people to come forward if they have any ideas about gang involvement or gang activity in their neighborhoods. You can do so anonymously. And city officials say if you need help, keep your kids away from gangs. They have the San Jose Youth Intervention Services, which can help you with that.
