The Orthodox Doctrine about Rapture! - Fr Daoud Lamei

holy spirit one god I mean today I want to speak about the doctrine of the rapture the rapture in the word which means the caught up of the believers to the clouds and some of the people nowadays are telling us different ideas about the rapture not the doctrine of the Orthodox Church let me tell you what I'm going to tell you now in the belief of the early church all the Orthodox Church all the Catholic churches and many of the Protestant ik believers also they all believe in the rapture the way I'm going to tell you because some people started to say that the rapture is is something happening maybe nowadays or in the future but it has nothing to do with the last day of living on earth with the day of condemnation we all believe the Orthodox believers that the rapture is part of the day of condemnation the day of judgment the day of the general resurrection for everyone so the last day in the day of the rapture that's according to our teaching let's try to understand what they say and what we originally received from the church first of all this word of being caught up was mentioned in the teaching of st. Paul in his first letter to the Thessalonians chapter 4 then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up so for those who still alive till the day of judgment the last day these people who believe in Christ these people will be caught up to the clouds when they will see the face of Christ Christ's coming in his second coming with all the angels with all the scenes on the clouds the people who still living on us believing in Christ they will be caught up that's the meaning mentioned in the words of sample in his letter to the saloon Ian's who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them he was speaking about the scenes in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and thus we shall always be with the Lord so from this minute up everyone will be in the kingdom of heaven the Saints the angels with the Lord and with the believers who were living till the minute of the second coming of the Lord so that's the meaning mentioned in the words of st. Paul the heretics he used to say that the believers may be caught up to the clouds and the non-believers will stay living on earth so there is still some kind of life on earth after the day of the rapture that the teaching of those who are not from our church and they relate this to some of the father's and I can tell you yes some of the father's in the second century and very few in the third century they understood the rapture in a wrong way but called the fathers of the church they understood it this way and toted the way we now believe that the rapture is part of the last day so when you take just like one sentence from this father or that father to tell the people that's the doctrine of the Orthodox Church that's not faithful that's not honesty because the teaching of the earth doctor is the in the books in the teachings of the Fathers of the Church in that twenty hundred years and it's solid it's based on the Fathers of the Church and when you study the rondalee the patristic studies you can see that there are some differences between the commenter's of the fathers and some of them had their special interpretation of things but we have to follow the holistic teaching of the church not for that father of this one so send on the the crisis tone he was saying so st. John Chrysostom wonders if the Lord is descending then why are we caught up to high above in the clouds for the sake of dignity for when the King enters the city those with dignity come to meet him so he's simplifying what will happen in the day of judgment when the Lord comes on the cloud that's the last day the day of judgment so people are celebrating his coming like the king people should be you know waiting him to celebrate his coming for the sake of dignity for when the King enters the city those with dignity come out to meet him we're at the convex remain inside awaiting the judge when the compassionate father comes his real children and those who are worthy to be his children are taken in a courage to go out to meet him and accept him we're at the wrongdoing servants remain inside similarly we are carried in our father's carriage the cloud for he was taken up by a cloud and he mentioned Acts chapter 1 verse 9 9 and we also will be caught up in the clouds observed such a dignity he descends to us and we has sent to meet him such a great leaders to be with him so he's speaking about the last day the day of judgment you can never understand the words of during the crisis storm as if like the rapture will happen before the second coming of the Lord it's in the same day so back to the words of sample I do not want you to be ignorant brother concerning those who have fallen asleep some of the early believers in Christ they were sad because some of their relatives who believed in Christ they have fallen asleep so they thought that these people good people good Christians will not attend the celebration of the second coming so he started to speak about what will happen on this last day lest you sorrow at others who have no hope so the first kiss I want to revise on the day our Lord Christ Second Coming on the day of judgment there will be a tan narration of believers that's important to mention on the coming of the Lord believers will will still be there on earth because that's against the heretics they say the believers will be caught up and only the non-believer the evildoers will stay on earth so when the car dog comes he will come for judgment how come he will come on the cloud and the believers will be caught up will be taken up to the clouds definitely there will be believers staying on earth and were persecuted in the minute of his comic so you know the second kid the second point on the day God will descend from heaven it will be the same day on which the believers will be caught up to the clouds as written by st. Paul for the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ will rise first so that's the day of the resurrection of everyone Oh people will write that from the dead that evil people and the good people the Christian the Christian will come the Saint Saens will come on the clouds with the Lord and the believers staying till the minute of his coming will be caught up will be raptured to heaven that's why he said then we who are alive he considered himself as you know attending this minute so saying we are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds so it's related to the cloud to the day of his coming to meet the Lord in the air and thus we shall always be with the Lord so in his second letter second epistle to the solonian the second chapter he started to speak about the Antichrist because people were confused about the idea what will happen with the last days let's revise what st. Paul said now brethren concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him we ask you not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled I went by spirit or by word or by letter added from a soul through the day though the day of Christ had come let no one deceive you by any means for this in mind let no one deceive you by any means for that day will not come and let the falling away comes first so there will be kind of a fooling away some of the believers will follow the Antichrist before the second coming of the Lord so for the wraps are according to the teaching of the heretics when they say that all believers will be caught up to heaven secretly so there will no believer staying how come there will be that the falling away comes first and the man of sin is read yield the son of perdition who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or what is worship so that he sits as God in the temple of God showing himself that He is God this is the world related to Antichrist do not remember that when I was still with you I told you the things now you know what is restraining that he may be revealed in his own time for the mystery of lawlessness is already at work he does not say that there is no sin now no it's at work but you know when it comes to the time of the Antichrist the lawlessness will increase no very high only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way and then the lawless one the Antichrist will be revealed whom the Lord will consume with the breath of his mouth and destroy with the brightness of his coming so why this bad man the Antichrist the lawless man will come because he will persecute the church persecute the believers and they disbelievers who will stay to the day of the second coming will suffer very hard time facing the harvest persecution happened in history according to the teaching of the Lord Christ and also same pool so for those saying that the rapture will happen earlier taking all the believers and no one believing in Christ will stay till the Second Coming had nothing to do with the words given in the Bible the coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan will all with all power signs and lying wonders and with all unrighteous deception deception he will deceive the believers so the believers will be dead among those who perish because they did not receive the love of the truth that they might be saved and for this reason God will send them strong delusion and they should believe that the line that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had had pleasure in unrighteousness so as in all generations the good people and the bad people will be there the believers and the non-believers the good Christians and those who are Antichrist following the Antichrist Satan and all his sinful leaders so as in all generations when it comes to the day of judgment the same picture the good and bad will be there those who followed Christ and their lives and they had the persecution from the Antichrist side and they kept their faith strong they will be rewarded by the rapture by being caught up to heaven with the Saints and the angels but for those who were Antichrist refuting the face refuting repentance refuting the truth they will be taken away to hell forever with the Satan and all his angels that's why the Lord Himself spoke about the great falling away days what we call the falling away days will come before Christ coming so as it would cause believers to err and go far astray so this meaning of those who will you know have this relapse and go back from their face this will happen with some of the believers waiting for the coming of the Lord the Lord our Lord Jesus Christ said this way for false Christ's and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive but in the meaning of deception here whom to deceive if there are no believers because the wicked people will follow easily but the deception to deceive related to the believers waiting for the Lord to come if possible even the elect the chosen people some of them will be deceived because they loved the way of evil the way of the Antichrist and they fall apart from the way of Christ another important text which you can find in the book of simple 2 Corinthians first letter chapter 15 behold I tell you a mystery we shall not all ways sleep we shall not all sleep because when the Lord comes on the cloud there will be some generation living waiting for him but for all other generations who you know fold asleep they will enjoy this day coming on the clouds with the Lord if they are on his side and you know shouting in fear and trembling when they know the real truth for the other side which are not all sleep but we shall all be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet these are the signs of the last minute before the second coming of the Lord for the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed for this corruptible must put on incorruption and this mortal the body must put on immortality so when this corruptible has put on incorruption and this mortal has put on immortality then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written death is swallowed up in victory so this verse given in the prophecies will be totally fulfilled with the second coming of the Lord because there is no more death after this manner everyone will enjoy the resurrection but for the wicked people they will rise from the dead to follow Satan to eternal hell and for those good Christians following Christ they will enjoy the kingdom of God so again and again we are saying according to the teaching of the Bible ended there is still a generation of believers alive on the second coming of the Lord and there is no third coming of the Lord it's only he came once for our salvation for our Redemption and he will come back again just like one time we are waiting for this to happen for the Judgment Day and for those who are waiting him if they are still living on this day of his coming they will be changed miraculously by the power of the Lord himself to enjoy be caught up or raptured to heaven following him back to the words of the Lord Himself there will be great earthquakes in various places that the words in the Gospel of st. Luke and famines and pestilences and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven but before all these things they will lay their hands on you and persecute you so the believers will state in the second coming and they will be suffering persecution that the words of Christ and the Antichrist will come with great signs delivering you up to the synagogue and prisons you will be brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake but it will turn out for you as on an occasion for testosterone II so the suffering will continue till the day of the second coming and this you know kind of persecution will be kind of testimony to the law himself when we go to the Book of Revelations and John had seen you know a big number of sins celebrating eternity so we asked it who are these people I said to him said you know so he said to me these are the ones who come out of the Great Tribulation the Great Tribulation related in the interpretations of the Fathers of the Church to the last period of persecution before the second coming of the Lord so again and again there will be believers staying on us waiting for the second coming for the rapture is part of the day of judgment and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb so they suffered and still believing in Christ and waiting for his coming when we speak about the day of judgment there were no way of other teaching related to the teaching of the Lord or the Fathers of the Church for any kind of judgment before this day because if the believers were taken up or caught up in a different day this means that there are many judgmental days which never came in the teaching of the Lord look to this in Matthew chapter 13 the famous chapter of the parables he put forth to them saying the kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field but while men slept his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way but when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop then the tares also appeared so the servants of the owner came and said to him sir did you not sow good seed in your field how then does it have tears he said to them an enemy had done this the servant said to him do you want us then to go and gather them gather the believers gathered the good wheat but he said no lest while you gather up the tares you also approved the wit with them let both grow together until the harvest and at the time of harvest I will say to the Reapers first gather together debtors and bind them in bundles to bundle to burn them but gather the wheat into my barn so it's only just like one day of judgment and in the same day these people will take in this side and the other on the other side again the same chapter Matthew 13 the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every corn when it was full they drew to shore and they sat down gathered all gathered the good into vessels but threw the bad away so it's just like one day for anyone believing in the rapture happening these days or any day before the day of judgment he is speaking now about two days of judgment which was never the teaching of the Lord in many many of his parables he spoke about just like what day the last day the day of condemnation and also the same day of rewarding his people come it was like one and one minute of dodging disorders you know again and again we do not need to understand it away from the teaching of the church it's only just like one day of judgment and everyone will be judged on the same day so the rapture will be a reward for the believers waiting for the Lord to come in the last day in the last minute of people living on earth that's why sample said for you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes at the thief in the night for when they say peace and safe 50 then sudden destruction comes upon them at labor pains upon a pregnant woman and they shall not escape but you brother are not in darkness so that this day should overtake you as a thief so you will attend the same day but you have to be watchful you are not into darkness so you have to be ready waiting for this to come another important passage by saint paul as it is appointed for men to die once but after this the judgment so for all generation there is only one day of death than the day of judgment so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many to those who eagerly wait for him he will appear a second time there is no more than second time apart from sin for salvation salvation heared mean to enter the kingdom of heaven forever so every generation must die but the last generation attending the day of judgement will be rewarded by this transformation they will have this new body glorified one in order to live forever that's why we always have the teaching of having this fear in our heart being prepared for this day with a holy fear so the believers are waiting for this day of judgment for any kind of believing that the rapture will come soon taking the believer it goes with their teaching at this believers will never do sin will never sail away from the face which is not the teaching of our church that's why they think of having this you know advantage of being rapture to heaven before anyone and people will live on us waiting for the second common what kind of people will live why should they live after the good people rapture to heaven that's not you know the teaching of the Lord and also not the teaching of the
