(gentle music) - Yeah so, I got a second one. But I promise there's
a good reason for it. I wanted a white one, so I went to the Nintendo Store today, which is the only place I knew that I could get one
as soon as humanly possible so I could make a video like this. But I don't want to bury the lead here, I already did like an
unboxing for the OLED Switch. This one is just white. It's prettier. The white makes the screen look brighter and whatever. But I want to talk about
all of the potential issues with the OLED Switch, I've been getting a lot
of questions about it and a lot of people have a lot of concerns and they're very valid concerns. Things like owning multiple switches, transferring your data over, how does this compare to a Switch Lite because a lot of people are
saying this is primarily for playing in portable mode. And the biggest concern, screen burn-in OLED screens have a major problem where if a static image is left
on there for too long, it could burn into the screen, ruining the screen, and video games have lots
of static images in the hud. And so, don't you worry about
it, I'm running some tests. This has been on for a week. Just in Breath of The Wild doing this. And I don't want to make this look like I'm just dumping all over the OLED switch, I think it's incredible, if you get one you're
going to have a good time. But there are some things you should probably know
about now for the future. (gentle music) This video is sponsored by ExpressVPN. This date night, is also

who has been texting you the girl who likes movies. Bon, Bonjour. I will be over here, is this where is there where I- Can you take my coat? That was just me wasn't it. So, I'll just say before anybody asks. You don't need two, you
only need one switch. Actually, it makes your life worse having more than one switch. I only have two, because I
wanted to get one last week. The thing just came out
today, I had an opportunity to get one last week so I
could put a video out earlier. I did it for content creation. But, it was the red and blue one and that's not good for thumbnails. You've got to get the white one so people are like, oh
that's the OLED one. If you do the red and blue one people are like, that's
just the same switch I've seen all the time. So if you don't know this already you can only really
play your games offline on one of your switches. That would be your primary switch. Which is what this one is going to be. All of your other switches, I mean yeah I don't expect you
to have a million switches. They're all going to
be secondary switches. Which means they need to be
connected to the internet, they need to check to see if
you have the right to play the games that you've purchased. It's a terrible system. I guess that's only for downloading games so it kind of makes sense. The PlayStation and the Xbox have like similar systems in place. But this is a Portable Hybrid System. You're supposed to be
able to take it with you. So if you want to get a Switch
Lite for it's portability. Too bad, it's got to
be your primary switch and that's a pain in the ass. There's also potentially
going to be sync issues with your save data now they've fixed this over the years it's gotten a lot better. But it's still not perfect,
I've still had times where my save data didn't automatically download to one of my consoles or it didn't automatically upload. Whereas, I know on Xbox it just automatically does it I don't have to worry about it my save data is on all of
my Xbox's wherever I am if I just log in, its there. And they also just don't
make it easy to just transfer your stuff over. The first thing that the
system does when you turn it on is, it asks if you have a
user account and to log in. But that's not what you do. That's the wrong thing. It asks if you're going to still continue to use your old console which of course I'm going too but no [snap] you, you can't
do that if you want to transfer all of your stuff over. You've got to remove all you've got to take it all off of here and put it on here, you
can't keep it on here. So after you've set up
your brand new Switch you have to delete all the
stuff that you just did on your brand new Switch. So that you can then transfer
your account from your original Switch to the other Switch. Now you don't have to do that,
you can just transfer your save data one at a time. But that's not going to happen it's not going to work for me. And the games is another problem you can't just take your MicroSD card out and plop it into the new Switch. It will say this MicroSD card
is used for another Switch. And then it'll say
you've got to format it. And, no, that would be a tragedy I don't want to do that. In the past what I've done is just re-downloaded all my games. Honestly, it doesn't take that long it takes about a day. You can, put the MicroSD
card in your computer and move all the files over
to another MicroSD card. However, I've personally
never gotten this to work. I think the last time I did it I had a corrupted 1TB MicroSD card. That was probably the problem. But also, I have 600GB of games. Where am I going to put 600GB of games, so that I
can format my MicroSD card. You understand? It's honestly probably just easier to re-download all of your stuff. So, if some of you were
maybe thinking of upgrading to this OLED Switch or maybe you wanted to
keep you Switch Lite around for portability or something. And upgrade to this to have
something you can play docked. Those are some things you
have to look forward too. So, potential problems, some road blocks, some things that might
make you reconsider. I love the Switch Lite,
I think the portability is incredible. And if you're only ever going
to play it in portable mode I think it's a great console. It even has a frikin' D-pad this thing don't have no D-pad. But, this screen is like a lot better. It's brighter, it's more
vibrant, it's bigger, everything just looks way nicer. But it's a trade-off you're
losing that portability. But also, you get to
play games in docked mode if you ever want to do that. Some people I know,
only ever play portably. Also, this thing is 150 dollars
more than a Switch Lite. So, the Switch Lite is
also a good budget option. Another potential problem,
is that you're not gonna be able to easily get this
for a really long time. This holiday season is
gonna be a nightmare to get any electronics really. This year is supposed to be
the year of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. But honestly, this ones still
gonna be a very hot commodity I think last year the Nintendo Switch was, the highest selling
console at holiday season for the third or fourth year in a row. If you live in New York or
you ever come to New York or you're frequent in New York. The Nintendo in New York City
is probably the best place you can get it. When they get a shipment
they get a lot of them and they get them relatively frequently. In the past when there's been
high demand consoles like this they've gotten shipments every single day. I don't know if that's
gonna happen with this. But, they do have a Twitter
account, where they post updates and stuff, you should follow that and see when they are going to
have more of these in stock. I was there today, the line was insane, they definitely sold out. If you're not from around here you're gonna have to rely on the internet that's gonna be a problem. I love the Twitter account Wario64. He posts a lot of good like
gaming deals and stuff. But he always posts when
certain store-fronts have the Nintendo Switch
or the PlayStation 5, or the Xbox Series X in stock. So, that's another good
Twitter account to follow and put alerts on. But I also like websites like Zoolert and NowInStock.com you can go over there and
you can search for stuff like the OLED Switch and
it'll literally alert you whenever a store-front has it in stock. You just leave that website open on a tab on your computer. And it will literally blare an alert when one of the websites has it in stock. The only downside is you need to leave the tab
open on your computer, at all times. At one point I was looking
for a graphics card. So I just set that graphics
card page on NowInStock.com to my home screen. So whenever I open the web-browser it was just opened in a tab already. So, you could do something like that. They also offer text message alerts but by the time you get the text message, it's probably too late. Another valid concern, is
that a lot of your accessories probably won't work on here. I mean it works with most of them it's gonna work with all your frickin' controllers and stuff. It works with a lot of cases
that are a little bit loose. My fancy Switch case,
made by Waterfield design, it fits really snug, I'm
still gonna use it for that so, it's not a big deal. But if you have any of those like hard-shell protective cases or like a grip for the Switch, anything that's very form fitting. It's not gonna work right. This thing is point one inches wider. And that's just enough
to [snap] everything up. The only accessories that I know of that are made specifically
for this OLED Switch. Is this case that they just
had at the Nintendo store. It looks like the PDPs but it says its made
specifically by Nintendo. But I don't buy them I think they've sourced different PDP. And it's literally the
same thing as the old one it's probably just one millimeter bigger. And also, D brand makes screen protectors they've sent them to me
without saying anything. I appreciate that. Screen protectors are for bitches though. So if you wanted a screen
protector for your OLED Switch, they already make those. I didn't know that about you I didn't know you were bitches. Of course we should talk about burn-in, now the way OLED screens work
is that if one of the pixels is on for an insane amount of time. That pixel will start to dim, or that color that, that pixel's
set too will start to dim. And that's why you don't really see a lot of OLED computer monitors, because, computer monitors have a lot of static images on them. You might have a web
browser that stays open, you might leave a Twitter page
open on one of your screens all of the time whenever
you're using your computer. If you had an OLED screen, over
the course of a year or so, that image might burn in it. So, that's a valid concern
to have for people who might play one particular game,
for like a thousand hours. Some of you have a thousand
hours in Breath of The Wild. That has a pretty crazy UI. That could potentially get
burned into your screen. Now we don't really know for
sure how long it would take for a screen to burn in on an OLED Switch. It might take years and at that point, maybe
no-one will ever have burn-in happen on their Switch. At least not practically but if you induce it yourself, you could probably make it happen. But if the screen sucks, it
might just take a thousand hours or maybe hundreds of hours. But I'm gonna try to figure that out. So, right after I got
the red and blue one, that I got last week. I played with it for a little bit, decided I loved the screen. And then I decided I wanted to immediately try to burn the screen in. So, I booted up Breath in The Wild. I am in a shrine. I have a little bit of UI,
because I barely play the game. And I'm staring at these
big, bright, blue lights and I got the OLED screen,
blasting at full brightness. A problem I ran into, is
that you can't prevent the Nintendo Switch screen from dimming. It will always just dim after like five minutes of inactivity. There's settings that you can finagle but none of them will stop
the screen from dimming after five minutes. So the solution here was
to put this Hori Split Pad on the OLED Switch. It has a turbo function, that
will just spam the A button forever. So, the A button doesn't do anything. So it's just spamming
the A button really fast. And it's been doing it for a week now. And so far, absolutely no
signs of burn-in whatsoever. It looks totally fine. I suspect I'm gonna have to
leave this on for for like a month. Which might be a little
bit of a pain in the ass. Especially because it's
just on in full brightness, in my room, 24/7. See there, yeah it's
dimming, yeah it's great, yeah that really helps the experiment. Another problem is that, like I said, your secondary Switch, needs to be connected to the
internet all of the time. So, if you log in and play any
game on your primary Switch. It'll kick you off playing any
game on your secondary Switch well, if that game is digital. And Breath of The Wild is digital for me. So, if I wanna play any
games on my primary Switch, I have to go to the photo
album on this test Switch and open up a screenshot of this same, Breath of The Wild
screen and leave that on. I could just leave that
on all of the time. But I want the authenticity of Link like moving around a little bit. Again, this isn't very practical like, none of you are going to
be staring at the ceiling in a Zelda game for over a thousand hours. But we really just want to
see, what's the breaking point of this screen? How far can we really push it? In my mind it's not a question of will the OLED Switch burn-in? It's when. But, realistically I
don't think most of you will get to that point
with an OLED Switch. Also, I play most of my games docked. So, this isn't really a problem. At all, for me. Speaking of the dock, I've never actually docked one of these. The dock is mostly the same. I'm a little disappointed about that, they could have made it way smaller. It still has that very
small brain in the middle. It does have an ethernet
port which is very nice, we love to see it. And the white does look really nice. Again, for thumbnails we need that here. But also, it's been found
out by the YouTuber, NintendoPrime, that the
HDMI Port on the new dock might be HDMI 2.0, which means it's capable
of up to 4K output. Now, the Switch can't do that. It's not gonna do that now. But, they also implemented an
update which allows the Switch to update the firmware on the dock. So there's potential so
that in the future we might get something like that. Maybe not with this Switch,
maybe with a future Switch. Maybe it will utilize
the same dock technology. Please make a new dock. This dock is kind of [snap]. We can do a lot better with this dock. We got Wood over here breaking his Switch because he plugged a
controller into the dock, like come on Nintendo, you can
do a little better than that. Although, but the water- that wasn't their fault. But anyway I think that's
about all of the questions or concerns that you guys
might of had about the new OLED Switch. If you want to see more of like a hands-on or a first impressions or what
I think about the console. You should just watch last weeks video, it has most of that information. And my opinion is more or less unchanged. I play mostly docked
so this doesn't really, it's not really a big update for me. But that screen, if you play in portable, this screen is really frickin' nice. Also, Metroid Dread, slaps dude, it's so [snap] good. I also have a lot of people
asking if this is a good point to jump into in the series because it's the fifth
Metroid game technically. Metroid has no story and
don't listen to anybody who says that is does. They give you a cut scene in
the very beginning that has all of the boring story and
then they just throw you right into the world. And that's honestly the best
way they could have done it. So anyway, yeah. I still love the OLED Switch and I still think that if you're
new to the Nintendo Switch, this is the one to get because
it is the most beautiful one and it's got the most to offer. But, if you have an old one already you might not need to upgrade to this. Especially given everything
I just talked about in this video. But, what do you guys think? Have you gotten your
hands on an OLED Switch? Would you like too? Or maybe did I deter you
from it, in this video? Leave it in the comments below. Add me on Twitter and all of
the other Social Media garbage. Guys I'm gonna be at too
many games this weekend, in Philadelphia. What? Oh, it downloaded
Smash Brothers. Yay. So, if you're around
that area, come hang out. I gotta go like take a train
there in like a few hours and I want to edit this
video before I leave. So, the most important
things that you can do, is just subscribe here,
thank you very much. And share this video with a friend. A friend who is maybe thinking
about getting one of these OLED Switches. Thank you guys very much. Have yourself a very good week.
