The Nine Lives of Rotten Ralph READ ALOUD!

hey kid and welcome to kid time story time where oh it's just a story about death uh no no maleficent this is actually a story about life no i really strongly feel that this has a potential to be a story full of horrible dreadful deathly things so i will say and listen because well frankly storyteller yes maleficent i don't believe anything you say nothing not a word so when you tell me that this is not a story about death i believe exactly the opposite okay thank you maleficent well she may be right i mean if it's about the nine lives of rotten ralph there may be some rotten things afoot let's see wow well rotten ralph loved being sarah's cat wow he lived a charmed life doing every rotten thing already this is very promising oh thank you maleficent he wanted and never worried about his future until one morning oh oh is the death coming up now is it death coming up maleficent i need you to move while i would i want to know we're going to find out right now but i can't because you're kind of blocking the book oh sorry i have a rather spectacular cape i noticed that well until one morning when he woke up feeling very very tired he'd spent the night being rotten with his alley cat friends now he could barely roll out of bed that's what happened you spend all night with your alley cat friends finally he got up drifted towards the bathroom and suddenly he cried out loud wow in the mirror he looked like a ghost he was so pale he could almost see right through himself look at that i've never seen rotten ralph looking so well rotten sarah he wailed help me sounding very very dramatic sarah came running to rescue ralph oh dear she said when she saw him you don't look so well we better get to the vet well needless to say ralph was afraid of the vet but he figured it was time to go and he was glad to do it oh i hope she makes me drink awful tasting medicine ralph thought sarah always says the worse it tastes the better i'll feel okay so he's thinking he's being sensible and what does it taste like to him oh pickles smelly feet stinky cheese stinky other cat so many possibilities well the vet examined ralph then she has some bad news for sarah i've seen this before your cat has used up eight of his nine lives she whispered that was a whisper wow she's loud she pointed towards the nine lives chart sadly i believe his best days are behind him oh let's look at this nine lives chart number one is ouch number two is too bad number three is triple trouble number four is not good for you five is halfway to cat heaven number six is risky business number seven whoo time to take it easy number eight is stay under the covers and number nine the ninth life next stop cat heaven good cats only oh but i don't think rotten ralph fits under the good cat category sarah was puzzled how could this happen she asked she took such good care of ralph just then rotten ralph read the chart fainted fell right to the floor he is beside himself well sarah picked up the poor guy and ralph just groaned remember warned the vet in her gentle genteel voice as sarah carried ralph out the door he's down to his last life one more slip and he'll be gone forever oh that was a gentle way of delivering that news when they returned home sarah gently stretched ralph out on the couch she sat next to him and patted his worried brow when he felt better sarah asked the big question that was on her mind ralph she said how did you lose so many lives oh oh oh i feel like this is going to be the good part oh oh oh i'm i'm blocking the book again aren't i you are maleficent excuse me you're doing that very slowly on purpose aren't you but she was totally doing that on purpose well the first life i lost was when i was left behind at the circus he said with a sniffle they only fed me stale popcorn and rotten candied apples that did me in mwah see junk food will get you every time oh and i'll never forget the time mr pierre caught me running wild in his poodle parlor he mowed that was fun until they got me by the tail oh no the poodle parlor how dare he then there was a time you took me to school for show and tell he recalled shuddering i knocked over the red ant farm and the angry ants carried me away they did not play nice ralph thought back to his cousin percy's christmas visit ralph had been very rotten to percy so percy had rolled a giant snowball off the roof which is actually very rotten as well and it landed bunk on ralph's head i don't think i deserve to lose a life over that said ralph but apparently that was another one oh oh what about that that black cat you chased on halloween sarah asked that she wiped his eyes ralph whimpered that was a witch's cat and it turned me into a carved pumpkin the cart pumpkin with ears and a tail and then he remembered his worst birthday ever ralph wouldn't share his cake so everyone played pin the tail on the cat with him that was definitely not a happy birthday he said sadly well i guess the infection from getting poked so much suddenly he thought of sweet petunia he had bought a squished stink bug to her valentine's party in return she had squished him like a bug and ralph said huh betonia was a lot tougher than i thought petunias usually are but the worst was mr fred he carried me kicking and screaming into the self-control room at his cat obedience school ralph remembered i was lucky to get out of there with just one lost life oof rough oh beating school is not easy well sarah counted up the lost lives on her fingers that makes eight she thought and as those eight lives were his best days his future does not look bright well ralph she announced your rotten days are behind you i'll protect you from here on out first she made certain that ralph did not do anything to hurt himself she dressed him like he was a little baby kitten she spoon fed him in his old baby buggy well that's an improvement from these other rotten existences don't you think but with rotten ralph probably not when ralph went to eat a mouse sarah had to taste it first it might be poisoned she cautioned she took a bite disgusting but safe oh but look at all the warnings she's put out no running down the hall oh let me put in that no running down the hallway no skating on thin ice no juggling forks no no that's a bad one uh wipe your nose with a clean tissue not a dirty one to propagate more germing look both ways before you cross the street that's just basic no jumping on the couch and then she's been reading healthy habits 50 ways to stay safe and what is this sign here ah no swinging on the chandelier unless it's a really crazy party and then you know maybe you remove that rule well the more ralph missed his old rotten life the worse he felt he looked out the window look at that all his cat friends were climbing trees chasing squirrels tiptoeing across laundry lines huh sarah's gone too far he thought but there's only one life left so the next morning sarah got ready for school when i'm away i want you to eat your vital vitamins and drink your anti-germ juice she instructed rotten ralph groaned it'll kill me to sit inside all day and do nothing the moment sarah was out the door ralph took off his baby clothes and lept out the window no oh boy oh boy one life left that's all we got life is not gonna pass me by he said he ran into the aquarium and grabbed the electric eel that shocked him shocked him back into action not to death into action he dashed over to the carnival and took a seat in the cat a pult he was blasted all the way across town it felt so good to have so much rotten fun then he ran off looking for mean dogs to tease when sarah came home ralph was missing oh no she cried i know i shouldn't have trusted him with his last life she called out his name she searched everywhere she typed up little posters of his picture but she could not find ralph finally as she walked home she looked up at the stars they seemed to form an outline of a cat in the dark night sky i i only hope he makes it into cat heaven she thought to herself but ralph was not in cat heaven no he was safely snoozing on the couch sarah was so surprised she jumped on him and gave him a big hug why you rotten cat you almost sent me to get heaven don't do that ralph thought i only have one life left and for you i've saved the best for last now and now you know about the nine rotten lives of rotten ralph you know i thought for sure he was a goner after that electric eel incident yeah yeah that looked like a gunner as well and then the red hands i mean that was a stroke of genius and i have to say that that rat looked fabulous for my next two but he ate it yeah yeah yeah he did well i mean at least if he's gonna live his life and not die a horrible death at least he's living a rotten life and that is something i can endorse thank you maleficent you're welcome and that was her dramatic exit and this is mine see you next time kid on with me kid time story time
