[Music] cleanar this is Tamar mcallum from the University of Tennessee running a time of 9.94 seconds at the USC open on April 20th this performance now places mallum as the new fastest man in the world for 2024 and get this he is only 19 with a legal wind of positive 2.0 this is a new world number one Mark and just look at the way that he took off over the second half according to His World Athletics page this was a new PR by more than a quarter of a second so this man is certainly on a Top Flight trajectory this puts macallum just ahead of favor AE as the new world number one Sprinter in the men's 100 however just a few hours later in Claremont Florida this happened [Applause] [Applause] 9.93 seconds another world number one time this time from a 17-year-old athlete Christian Miller sprinting fans get out your popcorn because 2024 is officially unfolding with brand new names and drama all over the place it really seems as though nobody is safe when it comes to sprinting right now because one of the big highlighted races of the past weekend was Christian Coleman versus Fred Curley in the shaman Diamond League meeting two world champions clashing on a huge stage but for one reason or another this race only resulted in a finish of 10.13 a full 210 behind the 17-year-old athlete this is not only a new world number one but it's a national under 20 record for the 17-year-old there are officially less than 100 days before the Paris Olympics finally arrive and we have some amazing athletes that are setting the track on fire and while the sprinters are officially starting to impress there is so much happening in athletics right now on the field events and in the marathon so let's take a look at what happened over this past week and get more and more excited about the rapidly approaching Olympic Games track fans rejoice because we officially have entered the busy season of the year and this weekend was a perfect example of this as we had the shaman Dam League meeting the kip Kano classic the mount sack relays and who could forget the London Marathon that brought us some of the best Marathon athletes to ever compete first we have to start with the man who broke yet another world record Mondo Duplantis in the pole vault Soaring Over 6.24 m in Shaman China this man is not human there is a strong case to be made that Duplantis is in fact the greatest Pole volter to ever live as it seems as though he can truly throw down a record almost whenever he wants to this is the eighth world record that Mondo has set since 2020 and it's almost a guarantee that he will break more especially when you consider the fact that his estimated true height on this clearance was 6.29 M staying in Shaman China there were many other noteworthy performances from some big names in the sport we saw shakeri Richardson make her outdoor debut taking second in the women's 200 but her opener wasn't quite the showstopping performance that many were expecting as she fell just 3100s behind Tori Lewis of Australia imagine being Tory Lewis in this situation at just 19 you just took down last year's World Champion over the 100 meters and she's honestly one of the biggest names in sport right now with a massive following of over 2 million on Instagram and while the 200 certainly is n as strong for Richardson as the 100 m this is a huge win to take at this level over in the women's hurdles we saw a classic Showdown with some of the top ranked athletes of all time including the reigning Olympic champion the world record holder the defending world champion and the newly Meed 60m world record holder Devon Charlton and for this race it would ultimately be Jasmine kamacho Quinn with another super quick time of 12.45 seconds the second fastest time in the world this season other notable wins came from our lady Pino in the women's 400 Valerie alond in the women's discus who broke the meeting record with a throw of 69.8 M and Marco a rope in the men's 800 achieving a new world lead of 143.6mm on faith gon's 1500 world record with one lap remaining both seay and bur halam were right at world record Pace in fact it really did seem as though they were slightly ahead of the world record Tempo set to the wave lights on the inside but right as the final lap Bell sounded it was seay who took off over this final 400 sigay was moving and she put forth a huge effort to break the world record But ultimately she fell just 1 second shy of kon's Mark at 34911 as SE achieved a time of 35030 but this time still places her as the third fastest women's 1500 athlete of all time for a season opener like this this was beyond impressive and it's already building the tension between her and Kon for the Olympic gold every Diamond League meeting always brings out some huge names in the sport and stay tuned because there's another event just around the corner in Shanghai this upcoming weekend but jumping down just below the Equator was the kid Kano classic in Nairobi Kenya which in some respects was even more impressive than the diamond League meeting in China to kick things off we saw Mary MOA from Kenya throw down a very impressive clocking of 157.6 in the women's 800 and along with her there were five total women under 2 minutes for this two-lap event this performance proves that MOA is Hitting Some solid season Fitness so The Showdown among herself key hodkinson and a Thing mo at the Olympics is already proving to be one of the big events to look forward to next we saw a classic showdown in the men's 100 m as Kenny benic from the US took a strong win in 9.91 seconds which would have been a new world lead but the wind was just slightly over the allowable at positive 2.2 m/s Baner is continuously one of the most slept upon athletes in track and field but let's not forget this man was the silver medalist in Tokyo in the 200 he was a silver medalist in the world championships in Eugene as well so it's not a surprise to see him take down such a strong field in the 100 over in the 800 we saw yet another world leading time just a few hours after Marco ao's time as the 19-year-old Emanuel wani ran a time of 143.5 s just 4100s faster than Marco aope and lastly we got a classic battle in the 200 M as Courtney Lindsay and let see to boho battled all the way to the tape in a 200 met Race To Remember both finishing in 19.71% all the running events at the kip Kano classic were truly world class with multiple World leading times going down but the performance of the day had to be Ethan catsburg from Canada who Unleashed a massive throw in the men's Hammer of 84.38% [Music] this throw was a new world lead by 3.62 m which is almost 12 full feet for the Americans out there this performance did manage to put a small dent on the top 10 alltime list but as you can see the primary athletes on this list are Eastern Europeans from the 1980s up to the early 2000s and many do suspect that performance-enhancing drugs ran rampant through these athletes so perhaps this season or the following few seasons catsburg could be the athlete to Dethrone the now longest standing world record in men's Athletics as Yuri setic world record is still more than 2 m ahead of this throw next let's head over to London for one of the most anticipated marathons of the year it's the 2024 London Marathon now before this race even took place they held a 30second pause for the course record holder and world record holder Kelvin kiptum who passed away tragically earlier this season from a car crash in Kenya it still feels surreal that kiptum is not here so this moment of Silence was a great way to honor this man's Legacy now for this year's installment there was so much Talent hitting the roads including six athletes on the men's side with PRS under 204 and on the women's side we had even more star power as we had three of the top four fastest women of all time now for the men's race we saw a true battle over the final stages as Alexander mutiso and the 41-year-old Ethiopian Legend kenisa B battled to the T but with a very strong close it was matisu who came out on top this was a big moment for matisu who holds some insane personal records including a sub 58 half marathon and even though his win was amazing Kena B's finish in second was equally as noteworthy because this was not only proof that he is truly a Timeless Wonder in athletics but he also managed to break his own Master's world record by Just 4 seconds on this run if there was ever an argument ment to be made that b is more than deserving to make this year's Olympic team this was it for a few years B's career very much seemed in Jeopardy because he did have difficulty finishing his marathons but for his previous two marathon races he has placed very high and been extremely consistent so this should be a clear-cut race that puts B on the Olympic team I believe that he more than deserves one last Olympic race now on the women's side it was yet another very close race but the win ultimately went to Perez Jep cheerer in 2616 which made her one of four women to break 217 in this race this was the first time in history that four women broke 217 in the exact same marathon and this time was also a new women's only world record from perz jip cheer cheer moving back over to track lastly the mount saac relays went down this weekend and we finally got a look at City mlin rone Julian Alfred Jenna prandini and Dena Asher Smith in the women's 4x100 relay and even though formula cury did include City mclin and Company team International with Alfred and Asher Smith absolutely rocked this race with a massive win by 0.9 seconds this race had some huge names competing but it was really just a way to start the season as mlac and levrone's primary event is the 400 and 400 hurdles but still it was great to see all of of them out on the track finally competing in 2024 we also had the opportunity to witness the American hurdling Master Ry Benjamin compete in the 400 where he cruised to a solid win in 44.4 two winning this race by more than one entire second and man did he ever look relaxed running this fast it is next to impossible not to be excited about the landscape of Athletics right now there's just so many big names officially getting their Seasons underway so make sure to stay tuned for more content because these following few months are looking very promising
