Regroup! - I got an email from a old client of mine who was in Iraq, you know, in the war there, and he'd seen me on CNN. It was absolutely gut-wrenching. They were invested in what happened in the Scott Peterson case in Iraq, in the war zone. That's how it had gone all over the world. - Why don't you answer some questions? Scott, answer some questions. Scott, why don't you answer some questions? - When you have any story that overtakes everything else, as the Peterson case did, it is crowding out other news that's important to know about in a democracy. - This strike has far-reaching ramifications, the likes of which we can't quite figure out yet. - People are cutting back and forth on their TV screens between these two stories as if they should be occupying equal time in the American viewer's mind. - President Bush said today that victory in Iraq is certain but not yet complete. We are also keeping our eyes on a developing story here in the United States. Authorities in Modesto, California, may make some announcements in the case of Laci Peterson. We will take you there live when it happens. - I was at work, and I got a call. It was someone close to the investigation that said, "You gotta go to the San Francisco Bay right now. And I'm like, "Oh, my God, oh, my God, did they find her? What did they find? Did--" "You gotta go there. Now." [edgy music] As I'm driving, I'm now getting more information on the phone with a source who is giving me a play-by-play on what they're finding and then reporting it as it's being told to me literally. I'm having a person on hold... as I'm reporting it. And every time I'm going live, I'm reporting something new. They found a body. They found a torso. They don't know yet if it's male or female. Just a torso. Okay, so at this point I get chills... my adrenaline, my heart's pumping. This is big. This is finally... the body. And I just remember screaming. I was like-- I just couldn't believe it. This is like the biggest interview right now in the country, and I'm gonna get to sit down with him and ask him everything I want. - Scott agreed to do four separate interviews, one with "Good Morning America" and Diane Sawyer and then three local interviews that were at his house. - I'm gonna get to go inside the house. This is potentially where the crime scene is. [edgy music] I'm trying to observe everything as I'm walking through that gate that nobody's ever walked through. I'm looking around to see just if anything looks off-place, anything looks suspicious-- anything. - It was a bizarre scene because all of the other reporters in the media were camped out outside his house waiting for the end of the interview so that they could find out what he said. - Clip this baby on ya. - Yeah, I guess right there. - How long you been in this house? - Uh...two years now. - This is a big interview, and I'm just thinking, "Okay, just...remain calm.
