Hey Will! Might be unreleated to this video itself, but are you planning on doing more with Parv? You two go together so well!

Would you like a bot? I'm not skilled enough to make one but a friend might be.

Thanks, I had no idea about the TNT minecart glitch before.

minecraft is an enormous and expansive game built on surprisingly simple mechanics but with the lack of tutorials it can be confusing for many newcomers follow me william strife as i cover the basics to the advanced crafting surviving and building welcome to the minecraft guide minecraft with its lush landscapes and open worlds allows you to explore far mine deep and build high however no matter the reason as a world gets bigger transportation becomes increasingly important yet at the same time moving between distant locations is a tedious activity there are various ways to deal with this though and one of the most efficient ways is to build railroads railroads in Minecraft consists of two things tracks and carts both of which come in a variety of different types first off our basic carts and rails which are simple enough to craft but tracks can also be found in abandoned mine shafts and are easily broken down tracks are simple to place automatically connect to each other when placed adjacently and curve when they meet in a corner or are placed in a diagonal fashion they'll also ramp up when there's only one block of difference in height however tracks cannot both ramp up and curve at the same time something to keep in mind when making any rail system now mine carts can be placed by right-clicking a track when it's in your hand then right-clicking a cart that's on a track will pop you inside of it and pressing shift will cause you to leap out of it getting a minecart to move though is another story which brings up powered rails and furnace carts when inside of a minecart you can edge it forward bit by bit but the speed is hardly optimal the main reason for being able to do this though is to get the cart moving in the right direction for when it rolls over a powered rail powered rails are very similar to standard rails except they are crafted with an extra bit of redstone and gold in place of iron these redstone powered tracks have two settings powered and unpowered when receiving a redstone signal powered rails will light up slightly and any minecart that glides over it will have its momentum boosted in other words powered rails don't get mine carts moving they just speed up mine carts that are already moving however as the name implies powered rails have to be powered to speed mine carts along if the golden tracks don't have a redstone torch lever or other sufficient power supply the track acts as a brake and will stop or at least slow down any minecart that rolls over it on a short side note there's another method of powering rails for sending redstone signals in general the detector rail crafted from iron redstone and a stone pressure plate is literally a rail version of a pressure plate and it emits a redstone signal so long as any minecart is sitting on it this has a limited number of uses but amongst its applications is its ability to power anything around it that accepts a redstone signal this includes redstone wire as well as other rails like power tracks and it will remain active so long as any minecart set to top it the other side of the equation which is moving mine carts is the furnace cart made by combining a furnace and a standard minecart the minecart with furnace as it's called is basically a locomotive or train engine by right-clicking a furnace cart with either coal or charcoal it will begin to chug away and move the direction it tries to go in is determined by which way you face when you add fuel to it the furnace cart will then begin to chug along and push any carts in front of it this may seem like a good alternative to powered rails which are expensive to make but the problem with the furnace cart is that they move fairly slow and can't push much for example it takes no less than three furnace carts to push a player in a cart of an incline furthermore even when it isn't pushing anything it's easy to run faster than a furnace cart simply put a minecart with furnace is a cheap alternative or stopgap that's best used when powered rails aren't an option following up on the furnace cart there are two other types of minecarts that can be greatly useful when being pushed around the first is the minecart with chest or chest card as its name implies the chest cart is just a chest placed in a minecart and it serves as a portable inventory it can be particularly useful when needing to transport large amounts of materials from place to place you even automatically unload a chest cart by placing the track it stops on on top of a hopper which pulls items out of anything above it this also brings up the second minecart the minecart with hopper or hopper cart the hopper cart functions much like the normal hopper but with a few differences first is how it will not only pull items out of any chest or similar inventory above it but it will also collect items lying on the ground in its immediate vicinity moving along there's another cart and rail pair that go hand-in-hand the activator rail and tnt cart the activator rail does just what its name implies activates any cart that can receive a redstone signal however in order to work activator rails need to be powered with a redstone signal this can be done the same way as with powered rails using anything from a redstone torch to a lever or a block of redstone moreover though the activator rail has the unique ability of forcing a player out of a minecart making it an optimal method of automatically dismounting from a cart for quick unboard now perfectly paired with the activator rail is the TNT cart whose purpose is rather self-explanatory it's a minecart with TNT placed in it and serves the purpose of delivering a bomb to someone or something what's unusual about the TNT cart though is how despite its clear purpose and function it will not destroy the tracks around it when it goes off if detonated properly there are two methods by which a TNT cart can explode the first is by properly being activated with an activator rail in which case the tracks below the cart will not be damaged the second improper method however is a sort of glitch and will destroy all blocks and tracks in the vicinity of the cart this is done when a solid block immediately follows a curved piece of track in Minecraft when a minecart reaches a curve it briefly detaches itself from the rail to reorient itself and then is placed back on the track in the new direction the problem is how when detached the cart continues to go forward and for a split second it clips into the next space or blah at the end of the turn this means that if there's a solid block in that space the minecart momentarily ends up stuck in a wall in most cases this isn't a problem but a tnt cart will explode the moment it's inside of a wall at all thus if tracks aren't placed with care the tnt cart can go up in smoke suddenly and without warning that's all there is to Rails and building train tracks in Minecraft while digging the tunnels for rail lines or laying tracks above ground though you'll no doubt run into fierce opposition the mobs that spawn in the darkness of the night and in the underground can pose a significant threat if you want to know more about the monsters that threaten you how they work and their weaknesses then check out the next part of the Minecraft guide until then though I'm William strife of the Yogscast and a Minecraft expert I'll see you later
