These videos are good and all. There's just no way in hell I'll ever be able to afford a set of studio lights lights & modifiers like the ones they use in these videos. Not to mention the studio space.
Yes I know these video's teach concepts that can be carried over to smaller lights but that ain't the same as seeing someone do it for real.
Where's the grass roots stuff where real amateurs are kickin around doin epic stuff with lights I can actually afford - like speedlights?
That's what I'm more interested in seeing. The DVD David Hobby made a few years ago was actually helpful in a practical real work sense. Anyone know of other stuff like that?
Good ol' Joel Grimes. I really appreciate his teaching style when it relates solely on how to light and photograph, but then he gets preachy about branding and makes me want to put a gun to my head.
