Never paid attention to this song....listened with headphones now and there is a lot going on. Backing vocals I never heard before.... accent instruments , super clean production. Look like a found a rabbit hole to fall in.
If you ever played an old Mattel Electronics football game, you'll recognize the 4th Down whistle sound on "The Logical Song" .
The whole Album is classic every song I remember when this came out. I bought it the day it was released, from beginning to end.
Supertramp is underappreciated. They're appropriately regarded by everyone who knows them - but there's no cultural expectation of familiarity, despite several consecutive flawless albums. Pink Floyd is obviously on every college student's radar. The Moody Blues span four decades. Rush has one song everybody knows. But I think this band's obvious excellence is just below the level of common perception for this genre.
For me, Crime of the Century is where itβs at.
In concert, the song Rudy tracks perfectly with a video of a train traveling down the tracks. The video is out there some where but itβs not nearly as impressive as seeing it live.
Edit: The train part starts at about the 3:30 mark.

One of my favorite bands of all time, even though I wasn't born when they made success, they were part of my childhood. What surprises me is that lots of people never heard of them.
I never get tired of having them in my playlists πππππ
When I was a tween and got suckered into the Columbia House thing, that was one of my "free" albums (this was before they started charging a penny). Long Way Home is also a pretty good song.
Supertramp is one of the all time greatest.
Also, they are amazing to listen to at full volume when you are driving alone in your car. Sign at the top of your lungs! Dance-wiggle in your seat! Air drum and air piano all over the steering wheel!
YouTube is now a battleground between Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies' supporters.
