[Music] [Applause] hey Jenna Sean just did something with that ybn kids all day oh yeah little [ __ ] rug rats Jaden no time yeah they're crazy reminded me hanging out with my [ __ ] five-year-old nephews a little bit mostly Jay he's like the really like irresponsible crazy one yeah and I got weird eyes dynamic too cuz Corday is like the nerd and they just pick on him for it and just like give him a hard time and it reminds me it reminds me being a teen I just mess with people so much when you're that age I don't know like I don't know you ever think about that you look back at like how you were when you were super young and it's just crazy as [ __ ] to think about like just bad here just a wild [ __ ] that you did without thinking about it just like picking on your friends so hard we were we were bad with that you know just like making fun of your friends till they're [ __ ] borderline have like a personality crisis so uh how long you been out here and I'll let today two days just doing media run for the new project promote oh yeah how's it going you're doing any notable interviews already on the cycle I think I won't like put no limit to know I often the job I won't like put a little in I like to lose every day right oh yeah so what makes this this project like what was the idea that kind of separates it from stuff you've done in the past because I was definitely listening to the teager's the tape that you did like a hundred times so it was interesting to see sort of come back around and do another like project in your own signature style Oh baby's getting back to the basics and I'm saying getting back to why no getting back to the fundamentals I'm saying to what the fans like I won't I'm saying being signing their chance to 2012 I'm saying it's a couple of months ago mm-hmm I won't be able wasn't being alone being creative contrived what I want to have to ask can I drop I'm saying it was just like go do it oh so I kept myself afloat and that's like it's turn it's over right so when you look back at that do you think that overall the Def Jam like the decisions rock with death early on in your career was a bad idea Oh No stop santa jizz it just ain't the right situation for me right in my fitting expert it was just don't say anything me do you feel like that they were trying to turn you into too much of a star trying to force you into that like pop star bubble or something that's all I wanted to say like they wanted me to go pop you know when I had so I'm like I'm gonna do this like no it's like I hate no say so so it was like right I say it was just a bad situation for me yeah cuz like the Jeremiah song and stuff like when I think about it those are like the big moments that I kind of remember if like from your career that really made me me like damn this dude is [ __ ] dope like this like those songs really do stand out but then at the same time I saw him I was like wondered like is the label kind of pressuring him to make a certain type of record because it seemed like they had sort of a formula with putting R&B singers on your [ __ ] and everything that's from it I'm saying but now I McGee are like all me I'm not saying like oh just cuz I waited we dropped it Santa's out the blue and it was on the out-pitch arts top ten for like like six weeks now say that just off of me yeah now I'm saying that like like without it start back in his own yeah cuz I mean [ __ ] in the whole music industry's changed a lot where it's like a lot of the biggest songs that we could look out over the past couple years really don't sound like you know it don't sound like they tried to make radio records you know you know pump going crazy of Gucci gang and that don't sound like anything like he tried to make a hit yeah but I mean anybody who turn to right now and everybody who hired you got to give it to him cuz they changed it like everything changed yeah so like the older people be like yeah that's not real it don't even matter like your opinion on your account right do you feel like you get the credit you deserve for being like sort of an innovator and in terms of being willing to like seeing to use autotune and stuff like that because you have somebody like juice world who gets crazy credit for doing that from like a Chicago kid perspective but in a way you could see how there's like an influence or at least like a stylistic connection there yeah shout out Jews were I'm saying my boy but yes because it's probably just the way we came out the gate know recipes fredo - he's probably just to hack the whole 308 it was like ha cords real and I'm like the one that's using the tool like melon dancer agent like man it's not that no stop this right so from from your perspective like because I always wondered there's like there was like that Chief Keef GBE explosion and then there was like you know a few artists that we just found out about afterwards that came out of Chicago and I felt like you know you herb oh baby that that was sort of like the next generation to do is the sort of life sprung out from from that would you say that's accurate because I'm interested in like what your perspective on what your perspective was just like watching the the Keef explosion as a kid yeah accurate I say by you name I'm saying plus more afraid of the Reese's right yeah Oh Express accurate I'm saying this everybody right now who's just steered when they think trunk and why his name for him mm-hmm so it's like the whole thing went like back then when I first started you never knew like who was going below right it was just like are you from Chicago oh he stopped yeah there was a weird moment where it's like the whole thing got set off so crazy that it was like you felt like you're a part of like a gold rush where the industry was really just trying to capitalize on all the young Chicago rappers yeah it was like a gold rush in the sense like that the whole industry just saw all these young [ __ ] up kids from Chicago rapping about all this crazy-ass [ __ ] and they just smelled blood they smelled money and they were just like I don't know we got to get him yeah I know you were one of those those kids that like kind of got wrapped up in it smelled that money I was going yeah but so what was your perspective like we because were you like really taking your rap career seriously once you went like at the time that you saw Keith popping up on a crazy level no you weren't no just like almost like back then it was like more fun hmm you can't you can't get these shows together we are family we are brothers like this what it is but actually ideas at the end there's like I cool now you guys like you know she gonna be at the top so it was like motivation once you saw other people start blowing up and you realize like damn I could I could take this [ __ ] off my series - it's all back then enough you head back man all the air of course yeah like I used to pitch this to everything I used to sit TV and watch TV and be like yeah I ain't gonna never be like this like anyone that would be rich like this and had a lot of doubts and I'm saying how I was coming up I'm saying how I was raised never my main doing a bad job just the vitamin wheezing right it's headed like I'm like we will never be no that's the mask that I hid so when did you feel like you really started to get that motivation like what was it that what did it feel like at that time when I had my first huh okay yeah Angelo my first song I was in jail he was born oh okay so what were you locked up for that time I had a guy cake okay so you had like a hundred gun cases right yeah not a hundred but like met a few innocence he proven guilty right no man no but it was so crazy because he was born while I was locked up but one day he went born I woke up the next day he was born so I do want to change the whole thing for right I'm saying to be different for man you wanna grow up hi I'm growing up with me being in jail a lot not being successful I want to be one of the story they'd be like oh yeah Dirk he used to be with them but yeah he fell off no cuz there's always a lot of those in rap yeah like because what people don't know is like once you've wrapped you gotta invest mmm and you got a vested with well rap stop you still be rich too right okay yeah that's like the goal and and I've heard you talk about that when I was listening to your Vlada interview and you were saying that like what do you do you do you have like a real estate company and like some kind of trucking company so how does that a like when did you decide to get in and all that oh my brother details just well basically my whole team not saying but the trucking came first for my brother D thing you know he was just breaking it down to me like just say at the time we was getting through talent show mm-hm it might be being young and being expired never having none I would spend a whole 3,000 clothes right didn't become an MIT I need some money I'm standing the BG's broke it down to me like you can even make it where you can spend 50,000 on clothes or whatever you want to back right and don't think about I'm saying from that point on it's just like gotta say right yeah that's a best-case scenario is that like a young man who doesn't necessarily know a lot about business it doesn't didn't go to college is able to get in the rap game we all know that like a rap career is usually not a long career but at least be able to take that money you get and be able to like start something in community or for your family or whatever like even if you're if dudes rap career doesn't go that far it's like that still is like best-case scenario that they can at least have something to show from it yeah you defecate house on the show for like some people just be out here just spending money and I know house yeah I'm saying you know Kylie you got ass on the show for it yeah it's funny too cause it's like dudes will get that first check and then they like see how all the rappers live and they just want to live like that even if it means they got absolutely nothing left after that angle you can't discredit them though right first day I can I wanted to Louisa right all right all he wanted Louie built I went to the store got Louie Bilson now sandwiches born to it right that's what I make the right here video MA the two new Gucci bills my neck I say you agree as far now I mean because you do you sympathize with that outlook though cuz I know a lot of dudes who like they still like to spend so much money on clothes like older dudes and [ __ ] but like at the end of the day I understand where they're coming from because people wouldn't really give them credit for having money or being about that business unless they literally just proved it by like wearing expensive as clothes and like anything about that ain't always about specific clothes like some people are into clothes like chance you know there's our clothes okay you got so much Claudia you know clothes exactly you need to get to a point that you don't right try to make people like you that's tough though that's all I know that's honestly how I always felt my whole life was like [ __ ] all that like fashion [ __ ] or having a fancy car or whatever I'm just gonna work so hard that eventually at some point like my accomplishments will like make it so that all that [ __ ] is irrelevant different folks ya know I tried it all out like I bought I bought designer [ __ ] tried it up I didn't drop you I'm like really UK UK be swagged out there turn around tried to be basically digging play yeah he ran out of money no for real that is what it is to my girl bought me a changed it for my birthday I'm like looking at it like I don't know baby but just doesn't feel don't feel like it's me I don't know it's like a weird because that's all the things you got to make decisions like you could need to be like that like I used to be I used to be quiet mmm I'm sad when you say shot just I want a little people person right like when I was used to deal with French it used to be like he was like go that how they drink mmm oh he was like go over there how that rose I need the people you need to build your own relationship with my family and I need to be doing this in the corners it's quite like if I play your music I'm playing uh ain't he got the email right what do you think it was do you think it was that you were young oh I ain't gonna say young if you just I used to always see myself around the bigger artists and be like oh no you get like [ __ ] like I mean talking to Drake so that's a big thing to just walk on up and be like yo you might not know about me but I swear to god I'm dope story your life right dope but at the same time like I'm saying French definitely said that platform up for me to even be a situation I use a day right I mean French like I heard a lot of people say and it really makes sense he's kind of like the master networker like he will just he's made so much out of his connections in his career that you got to give it to French yeah you gotta give it to Richie Rich the kids who was another master for necessary up you [ __ ] Otzi around Jesus you like [ __ ] away everybody certain types of people could just I just just make sense to him so is that kind of like a regret in your career that the thing with French didn't work out do you look at that and sort of feel like that that was a pivotal moment yeah oh no no no you're glad that it didn't work out no I'm glad that I'm glad everything we had went broke oh I'm saying I wouldn't be right yeah right like being around him I walked into his house he he got a Louie Vuitton car I say she died I did I barely got the belt you guys [ __ ] the carpet you feel but he did like he was motivation to me I'm saying still is mm-hmm yeah cuz that's like you know it's kind of the label things always gonna be I'm happy that you have a situation they're actually like confident though right now because you were miserable with the [ __ ] deputy anything for a long time huh alimony school okay so it's public it's pushed it's a push it's a go I'm saying priority I'm saying like I'll be looking at my numbers in my stream is like damn like it's turn its overweight saying that's the best thing ideas you got every condition yeah I feel that so like in terms of like features that you did on this one like who'd you get in there whether you that you were like actually hype to work with I will say different for me and like that won't do it with a juicer juice world so that is on the new project yeah [ __ ] only me like [ __ ] 10 songs and I must miss that that's crazy though that was when I was talking about that connection earlier I should I mentioned that so like what was that like you guys you actually get in the studio together yeah we got like seven songs just off the first dude you for real yeah a little baby another a little baby series is going crazy right now yes he's like the new [ __ ] and feature god of the scene so wait what was the energy like with you in juice world I turn if I can only imagine yeah oh wait no you're a Eskimo right oh yeah lot you don't like it just about working in fabbing it in networking like I'm which we're all of us trying to get to is Chicago just trying to help you tell the stale flow like how loud to do it hey everybody work with everybody in I'm saying keep up with each other like that's how we just try to do like I bet you you if you lose one of you often he'll get that [ __ ] back like yeah that's how we trying to do you feel like are you the kind of person has that crazy fast work ethic is just world in the studio is like a [ __ ] animal man you just say just goes crazy you can keep up with that pace we goes off the perks in there it's at Donald focal praise oh you're over that okay but it's just like I'm sorry I didn't got in my bag so much and you know what I wrote it's like I know what they want here mmm-hmm easy I'm going to talk about some four now I'm going to talk about phones I'm going throughout the trenches I'm gonna tell my [ __ ] the jury when I'm off I got shot jail I'm gonna talk about everything this the [ __ ] I've been wanting to talk about but I couldn't really have it at the same time at the devil's just to waste their plate now don't drop that Monday really in the fancy blade damn you tell you them like clearly stated situation but would they like involved like creatively they didn't want you talking about super gangster [ __ ] on record too or no it was just like um just say I'm gonna give you an example just say the first time he doing make it out and taking them Molly well I did mm-hmm future with their be like I don't do make it out I mean there I mean this ain't what you want their blood go ahead with the Molly rhetoric and I'd like anyone hit this it was just it was just all [ __ ] up or not and they told me what to do so long like which music to choose along down I faked adapter to it nothing lost myself like ain't know what I want it you feel so powerless that you just sort of like give in like I'll just let you do whatever but then you can say [ __ ] y'all I'm gonna guess what you going right shelf you get doing about it or you could just sort of give in and just let them put on some records that you're not 100% excited about huh think about it 2018 yeah like how long you think that she's gonna work right somebody new every day yeah that's crazy these days was it hard to get out of your deal or were they pretty like chill about it you know so crazy initiative work for everybody well I did was act really all I did was acts on my man nobody broke down situation like I'm straight I'm gonna they agree yes right cuz I mean at the end of the day when a labels stuck with like if they don't really want to work with you it's like you don't have that much to offer them you know so it's like if it's if it's a mutual decision [ __ ] there wasn't a money exchange in hands after the fact or anything I'm sure there was all kinds of technical stuff although we talked about it yeah yeah those side streets three movie bucks like I just know like when this [ __ ] drop is you're gonna be like is you're gonna be different like I'm gonna tell everybody grab that surfboard cuz they waving to be creative that's amazing so when you look back on it how much did the double XL cover me a lot like some people don't care I care about that time she because at the end of day that's like that's something I want to do right to see that [ __ ] I gotta get off right another month apart be like I'm strong care about just you know saying like yeah I think it's valuable I think about it if somebody not a fan of you but they're a fan I mean nobody don't know you somebody don't know you then they're a fan of double-xl right there see the cover they're looking to you mm-hmm you can't want your biggest fans I'm saying you got to do all ways to grow fans yeah if you drop a tape you gotta do it you gotta do something way big and different for your next date to grow things yeah cuz I mean that's the one thing about the double XL thing is it's hard to get a lot its most people it's hard to get them to check your [ __ ] out in the first place so it's like that's just that one thing that it offers you is that everybody's gonna at least check out a song or two just to see if they [ __ ] with you you know and that's like the biggest that's the hardest thing to get through as a rapper is just getting people to check your [ __ ] out for the first time yeah just to notice and even give it a shot you know you ain't got to do nothing today it's the internet social media Instagram you can make a 15 second clip and add a whole world went crazy yeah instead of standing outside like he was like they don't really care about that like when am i listening city's never right do just shut this and just set the album from selling albums in the store who's that Oh Scott no was your best bet they starts on CDs yeah exactly like they don't care about CDs they care about stream jcarroll iPhones they care about them Apple music Spotify as my mixtapes whatever there's any other music I wish they care they don't care about OCD yeah but it's interesting for some like you look it's always seen you as being very like album oriented but you also have like an insane number of like really high-quality videos with less shitload of views all over YouTube and [ __ ] too you always like really been focused on like those single single songs as well as like the total project now a baggie I don't know there's true or false it feels like you always were consistent with the videos and stuff but then at the same time like the album's like the past I don't know I feel like you've been pretty consistent when in terms just putting out like full bodies of work but I don't know how happy you were with them early on I started being happy Sanskrit one side streets - and Jessica's always right everything else in between was like oh I think I'm trying to stay afloat ain't trying to dial I'm trying to keep up like um don't know I just feel like this is the perfect time it's like everything's still the same time saying unchanged and I still get the same love shows still return sold out so just be like I don't know I'm just in mold I'm just in beast more facts how do you feel about like I mean that's one thing that's been really good to see like the unity in Chicago for the most part in terms of like certain other rappers sort of dissing Chicago as a whole how do you feel about that you thought people distance a gondola yeah it's got six nine he's been had some things to say so it's like been interesting because it feels like everybody in Chicago sort of felt like offended all together yeah he did expect a lot to see I'm saying people go hand out the energy mm-hmm but the situation with images like the city on keeping six now just like when I hopped on the farm you know we only pay attention said she's like oh they suck my dick I don't pay attention unless she so when I hopped on the phone I was really lost mmm my weight and then why call me like man now heat I'm saying that's when you call it no apologize a me like that's loose [ __ ] right we just had more from a 58 monthly shot over the weekend in Chicago right I already go [ __ ] about that it do you feel like you were like duped into sort of cosign and something that you wouldn't normally want to be a part of it's not really cosign okay I'm saying cosign it is gonna stop that [ __ ] get off the cool or [ __ ] what all right let's go sign like I don't really give a [ __ ] about it really sure uh well do you feel like you feel like these days like your whole attitude has changed so much like would you be would you be like happy to entertain that beef at an early earlier point in your career and you feel like you're just like a happier point now that's it like that [ __ ] funny games like all that [ __ ] funny games like this different is the difficulty explaining like I'll just have it this happen but like you've not like nobody really not gonna touch Keith like nobody really not gonna touch me see cuz we're still into that die about each other fear me it's just crazy cuz it's just like everybody and they on the own [ __ ] like farts trying to get like to what they going or they come through where they it but like well you bring harm like for real harm and I'm saying that's one like she gave really did die about you for sure how do you feel when you see like these crazy-ass statistics coming out about Chicago and [ __ ] like fish like you said 58 murders in the past or 58 people shot I think over the weekend or something it been going on scoot in just a little bit really slightly off camera sorry it's been going on yeah this is it ain't nothing new like we had interviews back then about the shootings and murders that went on at the time so it's just like actually 58 is great compared to they should be 200 200 and 300 and [ __ ] so 58 like ah he got better like it was one time it was like a couple of weeks ago well on the trauma unit stops at the patients just because it was not crazy it's just like the doctors everybody was busy so like muffin was just shot families crying all that's out there it was just like crazy crazy like now that's one thing experice right like that someone never seen like that's just saying I believe yeah sorry are you are you like happy with like sort of having some distance between you and that sort of situation like or does it feel like almost like you should be there ain't no one safe right okay [ __ ] if you go to career like no one's safe like that's what is going on like because a lot the murders here going on Chicago that just what the story cuz that's what the news car you can go to Houston the same [ __ ] happened they just said put it on lose I'm saying everywhere dangerous we but when you're out in Atlanta it's very like when a lot of people move to LA it seems like they feel like this is like a place where they can sort of escape from the crazy-ass violence from where they grew up even though obviously while that [ __ ] happens out here but it's kind of easier if you go move to the valley you can kind of stay away from all the way [ __ ] you know you can move in a good part of Chicago and stop the warehouse it yeah true you can never compare like cities that's one thing I hate when I used to see people bump into people dead like my seed to do this I don't go [ __ ] about that I'm saying all I know is you could die in your shoe and then you stab and anywhere it's the same [ __ ] for sure that's weird when people say that just cause like it's like you're trying to take credit for what everyone in your entire city has done a deal [ __ ] it is if you had actually shot some people you probably wouldn't be like bragging about the overall Chicago murder rate when you're trying to make your case you ain't mother [ __ ] and you've using yeah [ __ ] we're acting like it's sexier like it's cool right yeah because that's like the weird thing about sort of how you see yourself to jail man that's how [ __ ] goin to jail in history that's a fact we see that having non-stop you did this we we do don't write police ain't even gotta do now is just showing scammers watch the game has definitely changed yeah you guys feel like you were sort of early on that wave of incriminating yourselves with guns and videos that when you look back at it I feel like Chicago brought that back it had been gone for a while from rap music I just think like I think it just a difference I thought to get just to type of culture a rapper like it could be I'm gonna say my name's number like it could be somebody rapping this not on that type of street [ __ ] level [ __ ] have four five guns in a video and it'd be like dad y'all say that but if I go do it I got have a [ __ ] bullet of video even like I'll heat come on Valley yeah like so it's a different type of area like this yeah it's crazy how they judge everybody by different standards like they take it real seriously when it comes for you or like they would use that as evidence to like shut your shows down and [ __ ] too right yeah cuz it's like that was really going on that time definitely be talking about Fira dilemma now - yeah how's that I asked for questions for you everybody wants to know the status of ways out how his Appeals doing all that [ __ ] he'll appeal is going great great really like great great like total mayonnaise he just bright I brighten up his day at time I talk to him cuz it's always something new right always something new lawyer straight like well I thought you'd be seeing people that why you ain't bought them out go go get him you can't go get ya right now saying but he definitely gonna be home real soon damn that's crazy I'll be like a real like holiday type vibe for you guys to do that huh if I don't do nothing I'll make em young and be a young boy doing mistake Wow for sure I'm gonna stand on top of that and that's crazy that's somebody you're a huge fan of right now young boy yeah yeah [ __ ] with him he got that soul that passion in his voice on [ __ ] would like a heart of a saint like heart sure he wanted my team on top five fish oh yeah who else is in there terms of dudes were really just kidding right now um definitely look baby Oh gonna future the young boy oh you got angle like that day you can't even say top value guys some point yeah it's fun I'm saying a lot like I focal this guy's heart really that's superdumb actually think we're asking about that they're like I want to know his opinion about people like juice were a little skies yeah ain't no difference like right people got understand like like I just say him three songs he just made me through something Wow like it's all about working is all about Shannon feeling like that's what I mean like next level when you drop a tape you got to be different last all right but they got the wave like they 10 and I stoped hear you say that it's like just cool to see people like appreciating you know dudes are bought a [ __ ] tribute that's me that's what's up what about your girl Nikki she been having a weird weekend [ __ ] with everybody got they own the paintball I got I can't come here and be like [ __ ] hey don't try can't say no [ __ ] like that cuz i [ __ ] would write I'm saying and that should be me being a follower like we just didn't reach out about us on brilliant for me to be like [ __ ] e na na I [ __ ] without upset right [ __ ] with Travis yeah it's just sort of we had to watch all that taking place that associate right that it it feels good to be able to stay out of stuff hey sure that's the best thing the best feeling when you see people that you're like kind of close to when they're arguing they're going crazy on internet and you're just like yeah glad an email with you another more [ __ ] off [ __ ] Lee who's crazy easy that's an easy one to agree on just these like one of the most creative dudes out there right now um yeah so [ __ ] I don't know what else is important that we talk about I listen I listen to the new album a couple of times today by man we really played out that grizzly mixtape that you did is he great no more [ __ ] brother yeah how'd you guys become good friends you still talk all the time oh yeah my artist takes on the book right mmm I'm saying a build a hit they bond first right I'm saying he was just telling that man's [ __ ] lawyer he'll honey first metal yeah like two three hundred thousand on all these jury right I heard you telling that story yeah really a two hundred cash on him from the glades do crazy damn bro words about tonight me honey you okay yeah we just body from now it just went crazy from there yeah we're working on blood to it damn I was trying to get the [ __ ] screenshots of these [ __ ] questions that the fans asked oh there it is um oh yeah the question oh yeah one girl was asking does he want to be my sugar daddy into that no cash no name night Eddie I'm gonna give you no cash yeah yeah say my kids are wrapped yeah I just thought that was a good question yeah it's like important to figure that out I guess Dan's [ __ ] girl wants to FaceTime you 500 times I know what the [ __ ] is going on here um [ __ ] alright so yeah you're excited for the project she's been going crazy anything else we should know about in terms of what's going on your life I know life on the side street Street move uh-huh I'm just anxious to fire cuz I know when I drop his her out those were out we're ready I'm ready yeah I appreciate you coming to me looking forward to the seeing the reaction that the people got for the project everything and yeah thanks for holding down appreciate it appreciate you bro thank you [Music]
