The Legend of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray is Getting a New Chapter

games ever at ball Arena which I'm excited about but most of all we're going to talk to the homie miror swap oh my God he's right here in the studio holy crap it's Mir hello Adam it's good to see you man how many hours have you been in the US now like uh s so more than uh 72 we don't want to hear thec 80 the American version of hours please 80 hours 80 hours in us I'm guessing you should know it inside and out then I already slept for like good solid 10 hours there you go so far between three days not bad uh over here I got dine he's been in America while so I resisted for so long getting on Tik Tok like just yeah principally I just didn't you know I'm an old person man of morals I must have watched 500 Lake reaction Tik toks last night really bro it like not only did I not sleep I I just Rose to a new level of Nirvana oh my God it must have been great man were they down bad I don't I don't know I can only guess were they down bad uh yes follow-up question when you're watching these do you literally evil giggle are you like in bed like well I think if I was if I was on the show I would giggle like a man but I the thing is is that on this show I am vocal but in every other facet of my life I am silent you're just introverted there yeah uh and then over there Brendan vote you're silent off the show yes you've been to my office I don't talk I just like I only talk on the show all right I don't know that's debatable but I love the energy you bring to the show I tell you that right now it's a whole like uh does a tree that falls alone make a sound sort of situation kind of thing right M we're going to get to your stuff here in uh the second segment you know talking about your experience and everything else but I do just want to start by like on a scale of 1 to 10 how has it been so far oh it's been a it's been a five plus scale one to 10 that's that's an F been a Serbian five plus which is the highest possible possible cuz you saw a couple moose yeah yeah the Moose is were the one that locked it completely we should talk about the Moose later on you I love that part I love that part it might actually be that he got to ask yucha question now that I think about it we have him rank things yeah but I I thought it was the Moose is the moose in the top five probably not probably not well all righty uh but we have to start guys by something even bigger than mirav and that is nikic Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets that game last night man we're going going to The Hangover some hangover takes here it just I the easy thing to say is that we'll never forget the game but honestly man it's up there I don't know that there has been a better game in terms of like just you take it all in I don't know that there has I think there's been games that are in the same class I don't think that there is a better game that could be played like all things can even if you took away if you took away all of the details and you just scripted what it is to watch a sporting event with the you know an evil and a and a good and whatever like you don't even know the specifics just to watch The Arc of drama like you just can't it can't be done better it really it really could not be done better and the arena was awesome I always say like when I'm at the arena often times I miss being at the bar when you're at the bar often times you miss being at the arena they're both so awesome they're both like tied for how what I enjoy the arena last night had so many details and I want to get into some of them I mentioned on the show last night um you know some of these things but here's where I want to start the biggest difference and mirav you were there I want if you can confirm but the biggest difference from me being there in this game was the Nuggets were down 19 points in the third quarter halfway through the third quarter no less that crowd knew they were going to win or at least still believed that they were going to win and I honestly think it's something different from this year compared to years's past not that I think people would have gone home or left the arena but there's some there's this monkey off the back of nuggets fans Not the Nuggets players which I think have an incredible belief we'll get to in a moment but the fan base seems to also have risen with the team to where it's like oh we're down 19 and the third this is going to be hilarious and that was the energy the whole crowd had it was so hostile it's almost it it's almost smug and it's just so cool to see it yeah I came to the place where I think whenever they're down bad it's feels like fake like something's off like something's going to happen there's no way this will continue for the rest of the game it's not like like d Russell is going to hit 12 threes in a game after so he hit six in like first quarter so you just expect things to turn around and we were talking about it at the game they just need to cut it down to 10 and then the Lakers are going to get nervous about it and then they're going to cut it to five and after that and they did cut it to five at like 8 Minute Mark of the fourth quarter I was like no this is over there's no way Lakers are recovering from this and although they had some really great great actions like two three-pointers by LeBron who were in incredible like I I also felt like this there's no way this is possible but it actually happened then D had a layup which was you know like uncontested at all and I was like come on guys like let's let's push the envelope now let's just end this and of course the Nuggets did and it they they were trailing for 47 minutes of the game and then they still won so it's it's just an awesome awesome experience I both thought they were too early to the point you're talking about with 9 minutes to go vote they made the run to cut it to five and you're like oh they're going to win by 15 this is going to be hilarious and then at the end I thought they were too late this is the Nuggets man their timing is so hilariously you know absurd yeah but it's inevitable which is what Tim ller said on your show today which I loved it's you know we're kind of in the era now where teams get out to Big leads and you know depending on what you do for a living or how serious you try to be online you keep the Tweets in the drafts these days because it's a long game and it's a game of runs but for so many other teams you start thinking about like what would have to break right How likely it is for Denver and especially in this matchup it does feel inevitable there was a brief blip in that when LeBron uh had that turn Murray commits the turnover LeBron dunks it on him in fast break and that kind of happens after Denver's push and you're like wait a second this isn't part of the script but Denver even had another follow-up punch from there so it just feels inevitable and they've done it too many times I don't think they're waiting for the fourth quarter I I I I think these are hard and competitive games against good teams but when it comes to winning time it's Denver's time you don't beat this team with two and a half great quarters you beat this team with four dominant quarters and if you don't bury them they will bury you the Lakers were pretty pretty freaking outlier performances that's what's so funny is if you asked D'Angelo Russell what do you need to do win this you know to get them back it's like I need to make six threes and it's like no that's not what you have to do that's not it they hit the threes DLo was a seven of 11 Tori and Prince had a step back three at one point for two and a half quarters Anthony Davis was Devin Booker in Phoenix and they got manded they got M they they didn't break 100 points that's the wildest part and I I said it on the show last night I'll say it again you know we we think of the clutch time as just the twom men game it is a two-way Dynamic and Denver is so much better defensively than any of the detractors over the years would have guessed they'd ever reached at this point here's another one for you dine mpj's role is so interesting I I'm always bothered by the idea of who is the nuggets' big three because I don't think there is one it doesn't make sense to frame them they're a big two they're a big one a big two and then a fiveman lineup and the reason I say that is AG has a a role that is different than kcp and mpj but those guys also have distinctly different roles and that is that Michael Porter is capable of big scoring performances in ways that those other two are not and last night man he's unfortunately going to probably always be the guy that was great right before the end and then Murray yic take it home he was so unbelievably good all game and the shot he hit to tie it it's un because there was two big shots that happened after it gets washed out that shot was Unreal he had to shoot it without setting his feet he had to just like catch and go quick cuz that was the only window and he rinsed it nothing but net oh yeah we talked about it last night that was a y mik moment yeah it was that was a that was one of those big moments in the yam Mike Arc where you know something just told me to shoot it and um we just saying like you know Michael Porter Jr is somebody that has shown many many many times that he is a really clutch performer he just doesn't get he is man but he just doesn't get the opportunity unfortunately because yic and Murray are the most clutch performers in the the NBA so you know that particular skill set is not called upon that often but when it is he does and that's like just another layer of this onion that is the Denver Nuggets the complete and total suffocating dominating um Team the perfect five that play together and do exactly what is required like vote says I mean it's not like they were playing posum just trying to get the Lakers to you know wear themselves out but no they just sucked they just well they just suck but like but the de they just like are always just like they're just always moving forward they're just like they're not discouraged Jamal Murray couldn't have had the worst night not discouraged of course he's there at the biggest moment Michael Porter Jr only guy that plays in the first half um outside and even like even joic wasn't even very good in the first half he only shot six times we were all like pretty frustrated by it and then you know they're inevitable but Michael Porter Jr like is just another reminder this is another game where you're like oh my God and Michael Porter Jr like what are we doing why are we wasting time give us the trophy Marl I'm I'm really sad this game is not going to be remembered as a Michael Porter game because he really deserved it let's remember is it and according to nugget Twitter it's going to be remembered as Murray's Love Game the Murray love this is what people are saying not my words is that what the people are saying let me let me check the Tim I see I see one person TW breaking news people have found you on the sports center Instagram actually you're up there right now that's actually serious but I think the thing that's easy to take advantage or look past with Mike Overlook is the word I'm looking for is how willing he is to be that guy like we say oh it's tough that he doesn't get that moment Michael Porter Jr very okay with this he was their leading scorer heading into the halftime or second leading score I can't remember actually it was either he or joic and he gets one shot in the fourth quarter one and he hits it and that's and then by the way first dude first dude over to Jamal Murray that was actually on the floor and he was in the opposite corner starts crashing a rebound within two seconds realizes it's going in and he's already starting his celebration before the shots even fallen and he's right there and you were you were showing some of the great Murray highlights upstairs from last series and you you right as you you ended one they they C they cut to this broadcast Handel and you see Mike come across the screen just cheesing Murray's cooking and Mike is loving every second of it and that's what all five of these guys have that is very very very easy to overlook you might in theory conceive of a third option who is better maybe but are they do they want to do this do they want to do this the way Mike is are they as satisfied and content with what they're going to get the way Mike is and to know you're probably not going to shoot in the fourth but to still hit the one that comes your way that's the stuff like role players miss that shot that's the stuff that Mike has that's another level of you know what I was thinking about and it it came from a comment that he made earlier this week obviously heading into you know we didn't know what to expect from him because of the drama that he was you know experiencing off the court and he said you know like uh it's terrible what's happened with my brothers but I have 15 other brothers uh that and it just like dawned on me like he's just always his whole life been a member of a team like had like a group of brother he's been like he's not like a you know he's not like a an only child um even though he is singular in a lot of ways like he I I assume and in kind of the way they refer to him he's probably the shining star of a large group of brothers but all the same like he's always been part of this like larger idea of like the porter brothers so I mean I think that that like Cascades down and trickles down into him being okay with not always being the guy so it's cool it's a really interesting he's also the oldest brother you know in his family and kind of the Young Brother even though he's there's a new generation but it's Murray yic yic Murray Gordon kyp and then he's the kid of the starting lineup so it's kind of an interesting inverted Dynamic there but you said something else that I thought was really interesting which was it was it really shocked me I couldn't clip it clip that I couldn't believe when I heard it you sure was him you were saying that mpj is so insanely clutch but just so happens that he plays with two other guys that are clutch last night uh my guy big was wasy lamry had a great take on the timeline that said this nuggets team is the most clutch team I've ever seen in my life they had a 200 offensive rating last night for the F last five minutes they scored two points per possession on average in the final five minutes of the game which is insane they're inevitable inevitable is probably the best word about this nuggets because everybody's calling him now the nuggets are inevitable nugs are inevitable saying this for a long time but I'm saying why does everyone watch our show everybody does man we're influ but I love this thing about like even the role players are clutch their identity is clutch and I think that that it is cool to see the Nuggets get the identity you're right that we've been talking about but and then you win a title and then you play like this everybody's kind of latching on to that would be a cool way for this team to be remembered as the most inevitable SL clutch team of all time I mean there's work to be done but it's trending that direction and they genuinely like each other it's not like a story we trying we're trying to build up about them when you go to their their locker locker room it's just like you can see the love between these guys and one of the guys said like oh man we really are going to repeat aren't we like I I don't want to say who it was maybe maybe it's not a nice thing to say you know from a locker room but it's like the these guys all they say is we like I haven't heard a single person mentioning like oh did you see what I did in that and that it's just we we really did this this thing it's just it's just a beautiful thing to see and this is why it always crushes me when people are trying to rank players by who would be who would beat who on one-on-one game because that's not the game it's a five on five and it's actually 17 on 17 or 18 on 18 uh game and you love to see it then you have the the best group by far it's such a cool identity to have most clutch team ever that's like such a cool thing for people to say about every all these other teams want to be like the starriest or like what do you want to be known as these guys get Buckets or whatever it's fun I gotta say being the considered the most clutch team of all time that's a good one I wouldn't have asked for it but uh now that I see it I'm like yeah that's actually maybe the best thing there is and that's probably maybe the way we will remember them cuz I don't know if they're going to win 65 games ever I don't know uh but they're not I do think that like they have what they you know we we've tried to find different ways to say this are they going to be the team of the decade is yic going to be the player what they have right now is exactly what what wasney tweeted out we we've seen teams that are made better overall like that KD Warriors team is probably still the most Talent I've ever seen but they were almost too good for clutch time the the N I've never seen a team so routinely separate at the same point of a game they're they're so much better than second best in this category to the point that I'm not even sure like over the years who's second best is yeah it's amazing man I love it and then by the way and then we got to go to break but the analytics people and look I I love analytics I came up through analytics but the people that really go all in they always say that clutch is random It's So Random the sample size are so long and I've always hated that I'm always like no man anybody that's played basketball knows there are teams that know what they're doing at the end of games and teams that don't and I don't care how small the sample size is there is such a thing I think that the one of the cool things about the Nuggets is that they're converting even those people they're like clutch is random for most teams but for the Nuggets it's not that's they do it too consistently to be pretend that the sample size is too low that two-man game is Unstoppable it's so hilarious too because they don't go to it until the end it was like and it's like guess what's coming like if you're within a few points it's like oh God like you have to score every time down Lakers every time down if you miss a shot like you're cook that's it it's like a a boxer never doesn't use the uppercut till the seventh round and then you're like oh crap it worked again there it is all right let's take hold on we got to take a break on the other side more details from the game and universe you cannot leave the door open cuz they won't and and and joic is that guy now to your point and this is the final one for me that's why I I was talking about last night and I've been telling everybody in the office today the Lakers didn't leave the floor last night for the longest time and I don't know what the actual time was 60 seconds 90 seconds 2 minutes 5 minutes time kind of just flattened there for a minute where I couldn't tell what was what and the same thing happened to them I've never seen it how many times have we seen a team get a a devastating loss straight to the L lock room get the F off the court I don't want anybody to see me I don't want any maybe a towel over the head or just like kind of quick maybe you run maybe you sprint off cuz it's like you know what F this let's get back there and I'll scream the Lakers didn't do that they sat there and like soaked in it cuz they could not believe it LeBron was completely dumbfounded to your point you know yoke is the Challenger LeBron never saw coming you know he literally never saw that this was going to be a guy that I was going to have to like he wouldn't even choos him for his All-Star team which might have been a weird turning point in some ways you know honestly like for all of this but it was one where they all sat there was just like what just happened to us I love it what just happened and to your point the the postgame commentary all this stuff to me I'm not saying the series is over because I just think it's Sports anything can happen but that team certainly um projected a team that lost all faith and confidence in themselves and that was like if we lost this game what's going to happen to us in the next one that that's the energy they projected while they stood on the floor and didn't move while everybody in the arena was screaming and we were talking about nuggets clutch offense like 200 uh offensive rating but their defense was amazing as well like the Lakers were turned into key Keystone cups for like 10 straight possessions it was just silly how many shots they could not get close to hitting and it is what it is it's just it's just the nuggets are inevitable it it felt like a meteor approaching and and nothing was there was no Bruce Willis there to save that the the last note here then we'll talk about yic Jamal Murray is everything all at once this is where arriving and honestly like I I hate being a guy that gets as frustrated as I do for Murray for rightful reasons I think that to truly enjoy Murray last night was the ultimate Jamal Murray game was he the reason that they were down all game yes terrible night see the reason they won the game y absolutely amazing game is he the reason they're Champions he reason all of this he's the reason they're a two seed but yet also rating Champs he's all of those things all at once and it's not that he's we were talking about this last night he's not a two-face it's not that he is sometimes this sometimes that it's that he's both things at all times he is just simultaneously the greatest thing and the worst thing and last night it's what's so great about we compared him to Devon Booker and all these other guys but last night it was D'Angelo Russell what a game from him what a first from what a game from D'Angelo Russell said he was going to make shots and he did what a first quarter from D'Angelo Russell no he had shots even he had a bucket in the LA he had had the one yeah but he didn't he disappeared the whole second half he 7-Eleven from three though and he had think he had two or three threes in the second half he had I'm just saying he had moments it's you're you're what I'm Ry I'm pushing back is cu you're reducing it too much to first half second half I'm more reducing it to there are making shots and there's winning games Murray didn't make shots last night but he won a game and that's the difference and that's why it's sweeter than just saying first half second half it was like oh you did all the stuff you thought mattered Jamal does the stuff that actually wins and his as mad as you were at him even in the fourth quarter you kind of just knew he was going to make it when he made the first one and held the pose that was kind of a oh you guys are screwed one went in it's over he's pure emotion it's he really is pure emotion and is there anything nicer than that really Yoke's pure brain he's pure emotion you're right them yourself cuz that's how I watch sports like you can see on the watch along if I'll treat every playoff game like it's game seven cuz it's more fun for me that way like I I want I want to feel something that's why I do this and there is something really cool about a player who almost plays the way a fan feels throughout a game yeah you know and there's it's he is the Simmons actually said this on his pod recently we always say a guy could be a soul of the team but he said I think he was talking about Suggs but he said he's like the spirit animal for the fan base and that's kind of which I thought was great and that is Jamal man like he is it he can be like a conductor up there telling the crowd when and how to react he feeds off of it it's a it's a give and take kind of thing and it is Mercurial it's not you can't pen him in for what joic does but you can't ever ever write him out until the final buzzer final buzzer blows and we all know that and we all said as much as the watch along and not one person was surprised to see that shot fall you have any comments as the official Jamal guy as the official Jamal guy of this pod um it's just the thing the diff the difference between Jamal and joic well Jamal first off will never ever beat the bright light Merchant allegations it just won't ever happen like he just he's a variant like he shoots insane shots but they go in sometimes and sometimes they don't but he's just his heart never changes like that's just he's just a in his heart he is the truth it's just it's it's there for him and there are guys in this world and outside of sports just everywhere like when the going gets tough their spine stiffens they figure out a way to make it happen they're not ever going to back down you can't discourage them it's like not they're not it doesn't matter what's happened up until that point it's like all right well we got to get the job done so that's just it let's get the job done um and jamals typically come in spectacular fashion which is like like jic is just that will just grind you down into past and then Jamal will just punch you in the face as you're being ground down and it's the the combination of those two is is is uh it's like something I've never seen before they're just so deeply unflappable that's like what makes them so special it's here's one thing the serbs always like to clown for our atmosphere and our games is different than your guys is this or that and I always say we enjoyed the hell out of our experience in Stark Arena we enjoyed it and there are certainly things to those Arenas that are unmatched in in the US but I always say it's a little overstated you know the US has some really cool stuff at their experience what was your impression well first of all the arena was as l L as star Kina a year and a half ago as loud absolutely and you know you consistently too right yeah throughout the game and uh one part that I really love the most is the fact that nobody left the building a long time after the game was over and that's that's that tells you that people wanted to soak it in completely like there's no reason for me to leave right right away let's let's enjoy this a bit more it was really really great and of course the ns are doing a really really good job of entertaining the crowd uh so this this is something you don't have in Europe actually on that kind of level so I really really enjoyed this this uh game and honestly I didn't know what to expect of it you know because you know regular season games can can kind of look kind of mild here and there they put as much especially if you're playing like Indiana or or Portland on a regular uh night so yeah it it was awesome and and on the top of it it was just like a Hollywood movie of a match so yeah it's it was just incredible what about the arena itself it's beautiful it's beautiful I I loved both The Empty Arena and the fullon arena the Nuggets actually did a really good job with those white towels who have which are very plain very uh normal looking but when you put them on the top of those seats it made a really beautiful beautiful picture so yeah the arena is is really beautiful uh it's it's just five plus and then what about it was cool because your question to joic became a story in and of itself and honestly if we you got a losers yoke has to go there and answer a loser question probably not as charming and as fun and as entertaining but the fact that it was the way that it was to me it felt like the perfect whatever were hoping for it felt like it was perfect I I'm not sure I would even ask a question if they lost the game I'm such a coward I don't know man because the day before that we had Michael Malone and I got to as ask him a question there and it was really scary because Michael Malone looks you straight into your soul it's a bit more than you realize when he's answering your question it was thinking was uh I hope everybody gets their hot dog on time because it it seems really everybody's in a rush to get their uh injection of food by the way how do you eat that much guys it's we eat a lot portions are huge we do listen man listen man we're the land of milk and honey we enjoy both and uh yeah it's it's you know when you when you have you enjoy but the other thing is that so I'm curious just in general um the one thing that I've noticed the difference between the two places is like the sheer variety of of options of things it's like talk about that in general like you know you had Gatorade you had all these things that we don't think about my man last night drink in each hand you were too F to it cuz you get you know you get the media thing you can grab a drink or whatever my guy my guy got the whole he's like how do you guys eat so much I'm trying I'm trying to to get as much as I can in my system it's just that I I have a problem having more than one meal per the more rockus smoke filled firework flare filled scenes from back home well well the main difference is the fact that uh uh guest crowd is very brave here yeah like you don't get to be that brave as get a tweet off too so let's not let's not lie absolutely but did you like the mountains don't lie to us what do you think were you impressed were you impressed the mountains were beautiful we had some really nice like viewing spots to see I preferred viewing to hiking honestly but but Adam was was reasonable he didn't take us to to a long hike we had like a like a half a mile a mile kind of uh flat flat hike no does the word mile mean anything to you now which word mile does actually mean anything to you now yeah it does okay it does so yeah it was an awesome it was a full day trip actually we left right after the the the uh press conference in ball Arena which was like noon and we ended up like late when it was already night there so we had a really nice full full day of of mountain experience and and I like look at this like like look at this photo mooses yeah it's it's a good thing we had we had kale with us because he made some awesome dude images while we were there when was up there first maybe 3 hours he saw moose saw her big horn sheep we saw elk saw Fox and we're talking and that like zero coverage like completely in the clear within 3T of some of these animals and it was just awesome to to give Mir a whole bingo card in just 3 hours mountain bluebird yeah the only thing we missed is is Moose chasing us like it was closed but Happ we got got Clos there it is the homies up there on Bear Lake well there it is there is his first 80 hours any other thoughts here final thoughts on your trip so far things that are standing out to you uh it's just so difficult to fly half across the Earth and be active but I think I'm kind of pulling it off you're doing all right so yeah yeah I I'll probably sleep for S days straight when I come home your poor but but right don't know if he is the best player ever but is it really off the table is it really off the table here's what I love is that George Carl is the first one to say I you know he might be the greatest player ever and like right now that is crazy right and I and by the way I do I am protected of the idea of you have to do it like I I don't like the idea of joic is the best player of all time like you got to win championships now that's the only thing left but you do have to do that you can't just be that on potent sheer potential but the fact that George Carl saying that Nate Jones who's extremely well-known and grounded NBA analyst and fan he's starting to say like some of my takes I'm afraid to say about joic I'm afraid to even put him out and then I saw on the time I can't remember I wish I could remember who it was the people that will think that is crazy will now concede that he might be more in the magic bird category what I'm saying which is almost like that's the concession like LeBron literally has more points than anyone that's ever played the game of basketball I don't think joic is going to have that but the there is going to be a thing where everyone who watched him like to watch him control a game at his Peak offensively but maybe but maybe you will maybe they will maybe they will offensively I do think he's the best player I've ever seen I miss Jordan a little too young I watch most of LeBron's career there there are a lot of things LeBron can do that yic can't but I don't know if I've ever ever seen anyone make the game look this easy you know what they used to say about Jordan it was inevitable it felt inevitable when he was there yeah there's another guy like that the thing why we cannot speak about joker as a goat still you have like three components to it you need longevity of course you need a really long career to be a yeah I think you do like you need to have like like at least 12 to 15 really great seasons in your career to be there second thing are the accolades you need a number of championships a number of MVPs he's getting there slowly I'm I think uh but one thing he does have is this amazing Peak yes that's now 4 years long yes and I really don't think anybody had ever that have of a pick that that's that's my think so I'm really know if this is his Peak I'm famously low on LeBron I have all famous I I have all of MJ and Duncan and kareim ahead of LeBron because I just think LeBron lost too many big matches in his career and has famously bad part of career out west where real teams are actually competing but I think that I agree with that I think Joker is is already good enough to be to be in conversation with magic and bird and those are like talk top six to top seven players of all time and I mean if that's your floor then what's the hot we're golden we're golden yeah exactly and some of the stuff with the early Peaks and I'm not trying to be like too combative about this point because it's semantics at the end of the day but is his second season better than Palo Banko's but Palo banero was a top pick and has all this Fanfare and everything else I would argue yes like yic was this but if
