The Last Airbender (2010) - MOVIE REACTION!!

hey guys crew of blind wave I'm Eric I'm Shane Rick hi I'm Calvin Aaron and you wanted this this was the the uh winner of the poll for movie reactions and we are going to be finally doing The Last Airbender yep the movie uh which I've never seen I don't think anybody except for Calvin and Calvin you've only seen a little bit of it I've only seen it halfway through okay well uh we'll remember much of it you never finished your job again we didn't want to finish all have seen the uh the Animated Series avatar The Last Airbender one of my favorite all-time Western animation shows absolutely love it incredible incredible and I've heard similar things about this movie so have I yeah uh it is incredible incredible Lee back yeah uh I mean you know I I like some M Night shyama movies other ones I'm like that one was weird well he's had some of my favorite movies all the time yes and then he had one I mean well I didn't hate to have it I just thought it was like goofy I didn't think it really seriously yeah and I didn't see like after sure I didn't see this I've seen either one I like the village you know no it's just interesting yeah unbreakable split unbreakable split's good you know some of his new shit's good right I mean the only thing I've seen from this obviously I've seen some of the pictures of the actors yeah but I remember seeing it the first trailer for it thinking it was pretty badass that's what I thought I just feel like a big Title Wave it was like Aang in this like I think it was just like a trailer trailer not even from the movie but it was Aang like just doing some moves and air bending and outside there's this Fire Nation Navy I'm like oh it's pretty [ __ ] cool I'm gonna watch that I never did watch the series loved it heard this was what it is all afforded to all those who could bend their natural element well it should be you said World though and maybe nostalgic this is how we fight global warming yeah guess so just stop doing that stuff around me well guitar is like terrible the boy in the ice Captain America it's Kevin good boy for the cracks what did you think was gonna happen yeah I wouldn't stop Caleb it's not too bad so far probably some fire nation trick I'm just trying to see if this is a bad adaption or a bad movie like that's my thing you know what I mean do not hit that sphere it's hitting the sphere [ __ ] Uncle Buck I guess that sounded like zuka oh see Alpha whoa big old furry creature in there is horn looks weird but okay [Music] what the hell all the villagers are Asian but they're not okay I like the tattoos too I think it's realistic the design works pretty solid yeah I think so far it's a kid from Slumdog Millionaire I love that movie yeah he's good the [ __ ] he gonna do with the boomerang hey hey cool fight in the cartoon I am Prince Zuko I don't see a scar at all it's hiding his face break me oh you're elderly it's not too bad these [ __ ] poor old people right show me some [ __ ] respect and always come from that was petty come on how are we supposed to save they're out of ship we need a miracle and Saka is really serious that's pretty good that's cool to see you like that action offer those crazy ass kids drop down killed him is that Ira my nephew wants me to perform yeah okay my name is Edo hero hero huh oh my change there's been a lot of things they've been saying weird there hasn't been a Walter Bender in the southern water tribe since my friend Hama was taken away mama is the bloodbitter I like this woman's voice yeah I want to read a book to me so candle a rock and a once isn't it like things my thing of water let's see if he can do all the bending that's neat no no [ __ ] off of here is this happening involuntarily it used to be toys that that previous Avatar had right well to choose the Avatar they gave them all toys or whatever right I think this is just a way of testing to see if he has abilities at all you are the only one and then the entire world he's appropriately polite I'll say yeah just real young fat oh well that was very angry okay yeah I like that they're around the walls gotta see some cool fights cars in the ship look good the kid has good movement [Applause] yeah he's a martial artist man hey you guys that jump on your glider and go yeah I like that that was cool I wish they had used the music the music oh it would have made it much better yeah it's serviceable yeah I feel like we haven't got a good look out of his face long air bended a sphere around them and ice formed and he couldn't remember anything else yeah we're in Middle season one now maybe no catfish no Avatar State off of the uh the boat either is it okay if you tell me your name the monks named me um look at that Momo looks great I've been together for a long time they just learned his name I like those little details with that yeah it's actually it's pretty cool oh that ain't good I want to see the avatars too it's a heavy looking man yeah it's terrible oh he's dead there oh he gets glowing on his back of his head oh is it a solid one it looks like it yeah I just want this effect to be cool like white blue line yeah look at that the lines are thick enough where it looks like it's a solid Arrow yeah it's pretty cool who was that uh the Dragon no it's the big snake thing right it should be better Dash what was that I don't know I'm not sure what it was I mean the dragons in the show were in the real world aren't they and they could be in the spirit world too I guess right spirit world had weird creatures that's not what that was I like the [ __ ] yeah this looks great yeah who's this ciao let's offer him lunch he does not agile's great voice I've seen him before gee look at that [ __ ] that [ __ ] looks pretty good [Music] do they not create fire fire was like the only element that happened in the show right yeah I remember talking about like isn't it yeah I'm so used to it now yeah yeah because everything else is manipulating what's there there's my guitar heading water with it I hope they cast iron so he does some real badass [ __ ] later yeah I actually I like them uh you know I get to see boomy are you the Avatar wrong long that's a weird [ __ ] way to pronounce it well whenever whenever they've been saying avatars Avatar Avatar but then whenever the grandma said it could be the Avatar that child is being arrested for what he's bending tiny stones at us from behind a tree it really hurt is that Hyrule no one it's tweaking anybody away this side let's wait it's way too serious she got him wet again again yeah I think the president's just here there's a lot of Earth you can use huge machines made of metal [ __ ] metal there's nothing we could do we can't bend metal ridiculous there's earth right beneath your feet oh shut that cut up yeah right I was in charge you know what I mean yeah they gave the speech to hang too all right I want to see some Earth Wind and it's my favorite bending Style if I were this guys I wanted to let him speak this long leave them alone don't let that girl do that man come on how is he doing that yeah man are you fool kill him kill him oh there's the kids [Music] yeah all right let's see it get off Airbender so many firebenders only one bonfire just douse it [Music] they're not as strong in the force hey that's kind of like what they did in the thing what the hell Ollie kicked in the balls ridiculous that was that was about dude there's way too much movement I feel like aims is pretty good like when he does stuff there's air moving oh that's cool though that's cool First painting is my favorite style and that's what happened we'll see what happens it might be some better stuff another guy question oh it was good he's just not super present when you knock out yeah this is rare my mom told me about it you read that fast girl we should go visit some of these towns off I ran away before they trained me I could never have a family water comes after air in the cycle there's a lot of information and they just said like six episodes into like yeah I mean like what can you do though yeah I mean I don't hate this movie so far oh man he's good with that stat that [ __ ] gets good there's a lot of movement before before a move I don't mind the I don't think I was just standing there like the Earth was a little much but it was funny the Earth was a lot much it was funny though that was funny I want to watch that scene again it's like the effects guys I was like who was playing a prank you know yeah well the thing too it was so [Music] slow it is a guy I am underwhelmed I might have had that guy be zhao's voice yeah I like the actor though yeah I think he's more of a quality actor yeah he doesn't Live Free or Die Hard also well they also they built up the appearance of the Fire Lord adventures for so long too yeah here he's just like well they didn't do it in the movie though so yeah they didn't do it in the movie it's true we could settle down here blessed life I could open a tea shop I should bring your sister up here to beat you oh a crazy girl that was a whole episode that was a interesting way to do it as you know scene let's bring kid over hey you know this yeah no let me tell you we started a rebellion they started a rebellion uh they're going through all different nations push up and fight against fire nation six dudes throwing rocks everywhere come on I think they stopped at the places since then her father I believe so but also upside down and that's the uh that's the Eastern here it's Western or Eastern it's one of the two I can't remember Eastern is where you met the the guru the guru yeah you're right yeah who are you who's this guy oh there's a hidden chamber of statues people should see oh okay the avatars cool you will forgive me won't you what'd you do you betrayed him oh no I have lived in poverty because of your absence Avatar I can't eat something you have a good and good job I know right you know what I mean yeah start a tourism thing you think oh holy [ __ ] it's scary kind of if you're not waiting for that yeah yeah look at this thing all right I want to see the Escape oh all right it's a lot of dudes this was their practice area it's gonna be like uh practice thing with this board laughs so does that kind of want to see the blue Spirit he's gonna help yeah yeah how's he gonna get out he's gotta put it out open the gates yeah I mean you're not gonna argue a little bit if they're if there's problems with these movies it's not the design at all no I love the design and just too much to pack in two hours yeah there's a lot of pacing and they should be crucified like yeah we haven't seen it oh yeah yeah [Music] oh is that one of the archers yeah and Sam where's he at way back there with you back there I broke his mask but it takes a lot to get [ __ ] done I like I like it I feel like it's summoning a lot of this fog and stuff you know it's pushing a lot of air I just trying to think of like okay you gotta do this this this this have you seen SpongeBob how to blow a bubble yeah she did this then that stop putting it right foot don't forget it in the movie they've only met once so far right I like the sound effects I wish they had the conversation about being friends The Game of Thrones thing you think my son is this person the soldiers are calling the blue spirit yes getting back and forth quick yeah let's get that big [ __ ] is that moving back here it's camel's candle sweat I think like a lantern no this is the assassination attempt boom what the gas line running right underneath the candle they head up to the northern water tribe so let's see that awesome gate why is he swimming well they have lived beyond our reach and openly practiced waterbed only practice oh yeah okay that was really good yeah I mean what a nice family already but all right and it forms back up yeah they closed it back up yeah in there I wonder how many steps you have to do with that do that yeah right okay I've been a guy doing for 12 hours wow look at this that's cool looking I love the village of it you know it looks I feel like it looks a lot like this show it's great what's main P something that hair looks like a penis her head look like the penis the only one who said that I'm a nurse and the princess became friends right away love Exposition yeah that's cool his hands for a long time like this so yeah it's better he's not doing a whole lot something's happening you know it's cool to watch I like that well they're throwing balls of water people are just gonna annoy them yeah it's like water balloon and it's kind of cold your failure in the Hundred Days the guy is a freaking even failure your son died in that Siege didn't he Jesus thanks yeah and I offer my condolences on your nephew burning to death in that terrible accident guy you ever had a dog did it die that sucks something wasn't I get into reason of letting the audience know things that yeah maybe we should don't know yet yeah but he just comes off as an [ __ ] he is it's just so great information thrown in there I will come visit our sister city in the southern water tribe why is your hair white young lady he looks very odd so do your grandmother I was not awake mother and father if they prayed for days my parents said life important to me you look so sorry he asked like like we should start telling the story yeah I understand why this is in there but it does seem a little out of place not be allowed to live in peace until I bring the Avatar to my father your voice down there's the ash that's kind of a cool entrance though [ __ ] Ashes coming from the sky that's scary look at these [ __ ] man pollutant Planet would be pissed not even go anywhere such a bouncy edit everything else Calvin said that's the only thing you said Solid Snake what the [ __ ] you gonna do kid he's got a fire but he's not there you go [ __ ] yeah use that [ __ ] what do you mean well it might be more of an advanced thing too is there a spiritual place where I can meditate there is a very spiritual place first of all kind of this guys desecrated that upstairs bathroom built like Candyland nonsense it's like a shrine I disagree with that that's a far before enough I'm so salty it might be kind of hard this one's cool though are you the fish yeah this looks good oh mama no yeah don't like this they didn't give a spear that's why he's so pissed off he's supposed to be a commander yeah he's not going to go I was a commander I'd want a spear it's like a beluga a lizard oh it's a giant Komodo dragon diggers they're just wearing helmets the undermine start kicking them in the head right that'd all be dead of hypothermia damn it Saka emote better has he been doing for the last filled her head with thoughts the worst thing you can do all right yeah Zuko they had the oh yeah they had a battlefield I guess that's true would he win though I don't know it wouldn't matter hey that's a cool fight in the cartoon and it was all black and white and the fire was lighting up Mike oh this face his face is intense maybe you have one just like it Aaron these guys what is the four horsemen oh well that didn't last long I'm just gonna drown that's terrible well it was more terrible when he was taken by a giant fish yeah this might be more terrible dead yeah he's just dead now those four guys open he's going around murder people this is cool [Music] I just stab him [Music] that part water tribe guy like got out of the way for Ang and then he was left vulnerable for that Fire Nation guy yeah that's good I like these little flashes yeah I like these scenes a lot I could see this one taking like 50 moves right oh my god there you go that would be scary dude the fish in there gotta be freaking the [ __ ] out it's like I haven't seen this [ __ ] since Moses oh you're fine worry I won't I'll be freaking out already if I was that guy he just where's George Clooney let's get the [ __ ] out of here forcing Retreat thank God I'm just waiting for my demise and then oh I'm Gonna Leave the [ __ ] fuel away like you did in the cartoon We're Not Gonna Miss This guests look at the hell out of here Marlo's gonna be pissed why'd you leave he picked a lot of water up that's a fire nation guy no I think it's a water tribe they all some have Spears like that they're what the city oh okay so it's comment first I'm gonna talk about Susan's comment is returning in three years three years three years how long is this movie well I think it's a part one of something that never happened you know yeah this is the tease for the next movie written produce and directed all right Rathbone all right there's more of the socket to the whole movie was that slaka yeah all right we didn't get a season four of Avatar because of this movie what hey we're gonna do a fourth season of the original show yeah but all right all right I didn't hate it I am a that was all right bad movie connoisseur yeah that would not be to my taste no it's not bad enough where it's like oh this is gonna be fun to watch it's not I mean I I know that you like a lot like we're trying to go into it's like all right is it gonna be a good movie on its own without having seen an avatar yeah I think it's hard for me to do that oh it's tough like as a fan of Avatar the series yeah I can see why people are like uh yeah like I've heard it was the worst [ __ ] movie ever made yeah you know what I mean like I think of my shows like kids it like sure yeah I mean sure that was okay I agree I think the best word to describe this would either be lacking or rushed yeah yeah I think the biggest problems with it is that you're fitting what is it an entire season 18 episodes or whatever yeah whatever it is for the first book 22 into a two-hour movie so there's lots of things it's only 90 minutes or we're glancing over things too you know well that's the thing too like because we know so much about the world having seen the thing like sure I'm almost like filling in for them what should be on the screen so it's hard for me to judge like well did it show enough or in the case of this movie tell us enough I feel like I would be really confused if I hadn't seen the series so I'm like I feel like I'm doing a lot of work like in my head for the movie yeah so it's hard for me to judge like is this a good is this a good movie if you're not a fan I don't know yeah I feel like a lot of a lot of those Exposition and telling you like this and this and this the biggest thing was there's a lot of exposition a lot of yeah they're like a lot and some of the fights were cool but well I think of it yeah I think the whole movie I think everything is slow yeah except for the plot yeah yeah you know what I mean like the the fighting sequences or some moments that are kind of cool yeah but it still seems slower than sure maybe like Shane said what I'm used to with that uh Avengers and stuff like that things are more upbeat and fast-paced yeah or even watching you know Avatar the series like the the fight motion and stuff seemed very natural but also like you didn't have like stop stop stop stop and then you had one rock going but then it still hits the guy that's who's just standing there that's the worst part of the movie yeah are those like eight dudes doing doing stuff that you guys ever go see stop no yeah so on Broadway it's it's an entire musical thing that's told by being Rhythm like you don't talk and you hate it they're doing like this stuff but no I mean it's just like in that moment I was waiting for like multiple rocks to be flying quickly and it went and then another guy's like it broke apart yeah like if the whole movie had been that it'd be a great Batman it would be a great movie but then they kind of like started like their moments there with Aang whenever he's going through with the Fire Nation yeah it's like ice and as I move do another move and as I move to another move and it wasn't that wasn't like he's like one two three attack you know that was a big problem I think for a lot of the fights was just like it took 15 20 Kata moves and then something would happen except for of course the couple times where they just do this kind of thing and it would happen or the hand-to-hand stuff yeah and yeah so much care and precision was put into the choreography and style for the TV show it just seems weird that it's like just follow that you know yeah that's what people want yeah I do think the design for everything looked yeah it was like top the [ __ ] Notch yeah I love the outfits I love the costumes the makeup I love the the ships the world like all of that looked I thought the effects looked really good like I always heard this movie had crap effects but unless they redid it for the Blu-ray I thought it was this was all right now what year did this come out uh 2010 I think yeah yeah I mean yeah my big problems with the story and some of the casting 2010 yeah this is my main 2009 if everything looked like it looked good you know yeah like and then the changes of of the things that did change at the look I thought that was pretty cool like you know aim doesn't need to have a solid arrow on his head I like the design of the the kind of like uh henna Look to Him and then when they glow from afar it looks like a solider yes all the glows like blend together I think it's pretty solid design yeah it looks like a natural like it was a normal tattoo that someone would get done and then it glows with the Avatar power I felt like um like the actors weren't as charismatic as the show but I don't know if the movie just didn't give them enough time I think that's the issue is that like for me to care about Katara and Saka and Aang and all them like I'm not giving enough time with them and Zuko like I'm giving tons of time in the TV show you know yeah and I'm trying not to like I like guitar I didn't wasn't in love with soccer soccer was kind of lacking in a lot of things the emotional moments and stuff like that too he wasn't super funny but he was kind of serious even serious in moments that he's appropriately afraid at certain parts he had yeah you know he just had those I thought wide eyes the whole time you couldn't tell what he was saying he only had for me one good moment when he got hit by the tail of Opera yeah I like that that was funny that was good he didn't like he needed to be more over the top I felt like but I don't know yeah he was the one I did not enjoy the casting he was just kind of like serious and I mean Saka and Qatar what did they do in this movie other than like protect Aang which didn't work out at the end but anyway too much well yeah I mean well Katara tried to fight you know I mean and yeah yeah so I'm saying like other than try to stop bang but they didn't I was saying like what you doing yeah I mean yeah trying to defend him yeah and uh I don't know because they were going around and they didn't show this I showed like a like a monologue of them going around and like starting a revolution and they showed like one town yeah so yeah and she was fighting there when she we missed a lot of scenes from like the cartoon of them and they're traveling so they had to say we start a revolution baby I'm like well I don't know that it didn't feel like it didn't feel like it felt like yeah like we started Revolution they had like a lot of this is tell not a show yeah and that's a problem but like you know Qatar has so many great moments Saka has put me great moments but they cut out worries for katoshi yeah yeah Kyoshi I mean and then uh you know the the water been a master that refused to train a woman you know yeah it's all gone you know I feel like like this is supposed to be a Trilogy I know yeah but I think with the way Avatar is you could make a Trilogy of the first book you could have had one movie all the way up to like the uh all the way to like the the rock yeah Rebellion you know whenever you release them from prison you could have had a movie introducing these characters and showing making Zuko a threat having him hunting them down and the movie could have climaxed at all the earthbenders coming back and fight or you can just make a live action TV show which they are yeah I I would also say though that I mean this was a 90-minute movie if you were going like Lord of the Rings style I mean think about most of the Ring it covers the entire book true very well and it doesn't feel rushed it cuts out you know Tom Bombadil and Willow and all that all that kind of stuff you know and it shortens down you know or it quickens up the pace you know because the book like you know produce like in the Shire for 20 years the first 10 minutes you know yeah but I'm just saying like you know think of the pace of that versus the 90 minutes here granted that had like extended editions and stuff like that but it's like a two and a half to three hour movie versus this 90 minute movie where you don't really get much of the stuff you do get I mean I like the blue Spirit kinda but it's it's I feel like all of it's slightly rushed you know you don't get enough time to really like why is Zuko doing this you know yeah it's like okay well it's because he doesn't want Zhao to capture Avatar right but like you kind of It kind of just glances over a lot of it and you get a little bit but I don't think you get the full picture of everything yeah yeah and like a lot of it's either like you know guitar just kind of narrated you know over things or an as you know scene or and the one with the you know the fire or whatever from the show I can't remember the episode it's like the fireplace or the stormers I don't know but what he's explaining about how his father hits him right you know burns them they had to like hey come over here you haven't heard this all right this happened I thought it was a good way to show that yeah I don't know it felt like it I mean it was a two and a half minute scene that you know and the original was a whole episode the honest I don't remember that episode that's like the one of the best episodes of the whole I remember he burned him but I don't remember I guess I just don't remember that well yeah oh man what was it they was telling the same story of Aang and yeah didn't we have like an agnikai like in modern day and then we go back and we also saw that one too like yeah I didn't see any of them really doing anything like Zhao like goes back and forth and he's our connection to yeah they didn't even have an agnikai at the end to ozai and stuff you know like four random waterbenders showed up burner yeah drowning of the Dead yeah they think gay men drowned him and left he ran off like they brought the bank I think you could have gone through the first uh book and taken out you know several episodes you don't need yeah and then focus on these moments and make sure you focus on like here's the blue Spirit moment we want here's them finding him which even finding him was you know kind of rushed a little bit too of like pushing through to him escaping but yeah I think you could have gotten away with that if you'd have focused on like maybe showing like Katara working on water bending and moving through that but there's there's a lot of stories we missed and I felt like the ones we did get was just like you got a glimpse of it but not the whole picture so then you weren't attached really to anybody by the end of it you know no I thought the kid that played Aang was cool but I thought he was all right I actually think zuka was the best cast he was pretty good I liked him I felt like he felt like he was really trying to get his honor I think he captured that real well I liked IRA and I like iro yeah I mean he did he doesn't look like I would make sure I wrote a look but I felt like his like I felt like how he acted in his you know I thought most of that kind of work the sweet old guy I mean honestly like I worked for a naira yeah like for me what would maybe not like him if they change his character I would immediately not like them but they were smart they kept him pretty much the same way which was good although I Aang moved the best out of all of them definitely oh that like the action yeah he was great yeah in terms of that I'm I mean in terms of like changes you know I've heard about I've heard about the the names before I didn't know they wanted the hero they pronounced it but from what from what I understand like and nice shamas like well if these were Japanese names that's how you would say that they would say I'm like this just like okay we'll figure out do that and like you Japanese people yeah yeah because that was one of them they go to the the southern water tribe and it's like they're two white kids and everybody else was Asian except for Grand you know yeah I felt like everybody that was like an important person was white yeah you know what I mean like and you could say like more like the the Zuko stuff yeah all of their own fire nation was like yeah you said like Indiana right but like yeah you went to like the water Nation there's lots of things so what sorry what there's lots of Asians and stuff but then everyone who was like a major character in the water tribes yeah were white people yeah and it's like well why are you doing that like I I guess if you wanted to be like a staunch Defender you could say Well if you know in the show Grand comes from the northern water tribe down here to hide to get away from the water Master that's why she looks different they always look the same you know well the ones the other ones the other tribe weren't all Asian no right no so we watched master and UA wasn't what'd you say sorry uh the character that plays iro is Jensen from Iron Man is it yeah huh Jensen who the hell is that he's the guy the guy that in the cave is awesome oh yeah huh I don't know commentary forever but his voice and his eyes are like I know that guy from somewhere I mean I think it's serviceable like Ira I I don't love it you know it's not like oh man they nailed Ira no but it's okay but I'm okay with him as being an adaptation like it's also hard to know because he had no scenes to shine in really yeah I mean Zhao and the fire lord it's not I'm not going like ah yeah I can see it you know those two I was like definitely yeah comedically comedic relief in the show which typically like soccer yeah and then Ira well along with the animals yeah like those are like the main clinical relief and we didn't really get time to really see there wasn't anything yeah we shine and be like oh look at this D you know I don't know well actually it was weird is when the [ __ ] dude was talking about his son who died I actually got kind of emotional because I just remembered the show yeah at that point at that point I remember I was trying to forget the show things like that too where like we learned about those differently in the show saturating her in here it's just Commander gel's like hey your son's dead right yeah yeah I'm gonna kill his fish this is gone about that in the library I don't know it's just things like that that's kind of like well there was more time dedicated to that kind of information before or you learned about it from iro and Zuko in a more meaningful way or you know and you felt bad for Ira whereas he was just kind of like oh I had his son well he does it now but he had one okay yeah but it's not like an emotional moment like I think the guy that was playing the fire lord could have made a good job yeah yeah like he had the voice in the presence for it I felt like I feel like so too I think he's sleazy enough it was a interesting choice of um making the firebenders have to use fire that exists yeah yeah they need the comet to generate it without it unless your eyebrows when we started watching avatar the series I remember going like isn't it weird that like they're the ones that can do that but as the series went on they talked about the breath and then the chi and all that kind of stuff they're heating up like that's what's creating fire I think they were going except they have fire inside them yeah it fires the effect of their Chi you know yeah but it was a straight I thought it was a strange Choice like okay well they're gonna do that and then they had Ira just do it like what he's super special yeah he's an advanced technique you know that this seemed like I guess as as a if I didn't know the show so well yeah maybe I'd be like oh okay that guy must be really good which is the effect they want yeah but like as a show watch you're just kind of like at least I was I was like this is strange I wonder when I freaked out left you know yeah I wonder if it went on like if that would be his special thing and not the lightning bending or if they would have that too oh yeah you know yeah I think it was it's interesting because during the battles they would have to like they would like need fire so they were shooting fire to there because they need it so I thought that was actually kind of cool yeah yeah they played around with it in some cool ways yeah I mean they showed Zuko like hitting up the the ice the ice without any external fire too but I mean it definitely depowers them a lot if you if the majority of their army needs the fire yeah but I guess you could also say because they also didn't mention at all Susan's comment or you know you know you get to learn this by the end of the year that kind of thing they changed it to three years and they mentioned at the end like for a setup but they I guess they could have when Susan's comment shows up then all the firebenders could do fire yeah well that's what he said was gonna happen yeah that way they could use their their yeah so it's like iro has like a special ability that he's learned it more so than normal soldiers but and zuku maybe has a little because he can keep things maybe I don't know we're maybe not everyone gets to learn from Ira yeah um what'd you guys think of the spirit dragon is this a Exposition device yeah yeah was he in a cartoon at all yeah okay I don't believe so I mean the whole Avatar State kind of is different yeah like it because you know this was more of like a power up Avatar State because in the Avatar State you can use all the elements you know only ever use air and water in this group yeah yeah even though he could like affect Fire and Rock a little bit somehow well they were like attracted to him or something yeah but I mean uh the Avatar I stayed before like all the avatars and stuff controlled and he had no control whereas this one was like he's super powered to do yeah this one's like a like a multiplier of power which Avatar state does do as well yeah but it also connects you to all the previous avatars I would like why have the dragon when you could have Avatar Roku Roku that would be that's good that's what the dragon is in this movie he's what Roku is yeah yeah that's the weird that's weird change for me that is weird I love Roku did you guys recognize the voice of the Dragon I recognize it but I can't place I didn't I didn't recognize it yeah John it will be roshi all right uh Roku yeah he'd make a good rosheet too yeah is there an extended version on this at all I don't know did we watch the short version well I don't know I was reading a thing that said that they cut out 30 minutes for the theatrical release because Nickelodeon or you know produces whatever wanted to get it done for 3D as quickly as they could so like yeah 30 minutes at the theater 30 minutes from this deleted scenes yeah I understand why this is probably what released theatrically but so but they never released an extended maybe or not no but I just wonder what those editors yeah this needs 30 minutes yeah exactly like it's a 90 minute movie having two hours would have really I think held up man that's [ __ ] Nickelodeon [ __ ] over their franchise a lot man are they about to record a lot yeah I think that the uh we had heard in like one of our uh comments on the Avatar we were doing it but the lady that plays UA in this is what was did you look it up Aaron which one who's she playing U.S uh princess Huey is uh Asami okay all right oh that was wasn't that uh saka's other girlfriend yeah from the um Warriors right that was it Asami is from Korra um yeah yeah yeah okay that's who it is I was thinking like originally I was thinking that she was uh I can't remember what her name was saka's other girlfriend because I've been like the warrior yeah that'd be funny if that's who she played and then she played the other girlfriend here but yeah Asami was uh the the rich girl yeah Rich okay [Music] um and then you know it's weird because I feel like they just ignored a lot of things from the series but they they would have little tiny details like the great grand said like you know the last part Firebender or waterbender and our tribe was Hammer you know I'm like hey that's that's the that's the bloodbender she would come in later though right I guess I don't know if it's showing up in like the third yeah yeah which I mean I guess it's good seed stuff early on but like they didn't okay did you pay that much attention it feels like some of the attention wasn't paid other places yeah which is the weird thing to me I don't know I mean I guess that's seeds for you know the other movies that they were planning on making yeah they had a bunch of 150 million dollars yeah that's crazy well with the like the 3D and everything too I mean like the designs of everything I thought looked great yeah so I mean I think like when they went to the northern water tribe you know the look of the wall and everything yeah the villages good that's where I said designs I can't think of a single bathroom which is weird because I you know like I've seen movies have come out a few years ago I'm like man after Avengers like these movies don't look good but like I thought this looked like it could come out now almost but having like the Earth people prisoners not on the iron ship yeah might be a little weird I mean that's probably just saving some money yeah but yeah but it was worth it for that scene they're cutting out 30 minutes they don't cut out that [ __ ] you know have we heard any more about another movie oh they're not doing now yeah no [ __ ] way yeah because there's been things on here too on I don't know if they're real now but thinking about in 2015 after the After Earth Nickelodeon said they wanted to try to start working on a sequel which he said he would do after his next Thriller yeah no they there were there were rumors and everything but yeah I think yeah they confirmed a Netflix show so yeah the Netflix show I think will be better because they spend much more you can spend time on the story you want to tell but like you know that's the thing is when I think of like you know obviously this wasn't a book it was a TV show but when I think of like book two movies and like having to cover a lot of detail like you know Harry Potter covers like they get pretty much everything in there you know like all the important Beats like I feel like you could have put a lot more beats in this and have less of like other stuff yeah I think there was like 10 scenes of like not ten but five scenes of Xiao like going from here to here to here to here to here being like I don't know what's going on you're just trying to tell what's going on to the audience understands yeah yeah one of the big things like I feel like the northern water tribe segment was like the entire third act you know uh which I think is great but I would you know knowing the story as is in the TV show versus what we got here I just feel like the Avatar state wasn't anything really special I feel like in the movie it was like he raised up all the water I just think about everything that happened in the show combining with the spirit in the ocean those spirits becoming the big thing you know and how he like loses control yeah yeah and like nature gets mad the Avatar like the avatar coming back and the Avatar State itself is such a game changer but here it's like I mean it's ran away because a bunch of water was in the air pretty much what happened right which is impressive don't be wrong yeah it's very impressive but he couldn't do anything else yeah but I'm like like there was a giant [ __ ] Godzilla water monster coming out like [ __ ] leave you know yeah I mean I think one could be scary especially after losing their Commander too sure they've killed them all with that wave if they wanted to I think normal viewers that would be like what the [ __ ] is this Godzilla Beast you know what I mean where'd this come from I mean watching when we watched it dude we're like the hell is this that's why it was still like came out of nowhere you know I mean like yeah we'd seen him tapping this Avatar State before but we never turned into a giant fish yeah I think like the MCU and stuff has has taught Hollywood that normal viewers will don't catch on to some stuff yeah it's like you don't need to explain Rocket Raccoon and Groot to a normal viewer they just yeah I get it let's go keep moving you know yeah I don't know I mean this was still made in the era where you had to you know I feel like movies had to explain and dumb down a lot I had to hold the audience hands yeah especially because it's supposed to be a kid movie sure yeah yeah it's PG like oh it is yeah an action-packed exciting family film that's what I haven't watched a new PG movie in a long time I feel like kids suspend their disbelief a lot easier than adults do though I feel like a lot of times like you don't have to to hold their hand like as long as they understand the concepts and stuff Clone Wars is PG yeah I mean Avatar has some pretty weird and interesting things but that's kids watch that all the time yeah yeah absolutely yeah so I don't know the one of my one moment I really liked was just iro whenever he actually went yeah I was waiting for more from him because like you had said like having this younger kind of guy not like a real yeah I'm actually doing some stuff would be really cool I was like why not have him be an older man if not to have like hey well we order man it's like able to do this you know I'm like oh I get it but it also it also could have led into like well here's some things we want in the future movies so let's make sure he's younger to do these and you know yeah like how how cool would it be to see the the Masters remember it was like iro yeah uh was it paku and uh the sword guy and all them like doing stuff yeah uh booming the White Lotus yeah we never even went saw boomi or bossing say well it looked like we were at what was it omashu like the It was kind of like a mountain like a peak like this except you know in the show the city's all right here but in this there was just like a mountain like this in a little city here and we didn't go to it I think they kind of showed maybe boomy City and then we left I think it's umashu right yeah yeah that's right and then they mentioned boxing say which is where the the Great Wall yeah the bear the bear yeah so yeah we I think we saw umashu but we didn't go there and we certainly didn't meet boomi yeah because that was a big moment for uh for Aang too someone who knew him is my friend I grew up with him yeah maybe they're trying to keep all of the uh it's gonna be so great Elemental scenes together I guess like more separated yeah now I'm for me it wasn't it wasn't the worst movie ever seen I've seen something I think it was rushed I think it's a thing yeah and it's not that I think the movie was rushed I think the plot they wrote yeah they rushed it based on what I know from Avatar otherwise and even not even if I didn't know the Avatar TV show you know I still think from an outside perspective you're kind of like you're trying to play ketchup and they're always telling you what you're doing you're like okay well I guess that's I guess that's true yeah but there's lots of times like we're like oh did they ever say guitar before you know like yeah how many times did they mention these people's names except there was one that one moment when they're zoomed in on Aang and zoomed in on guitar and it's not going back and forth but like the avatar on Avatar and like they're back and forth with like this long Exposition it's like okay I get I get Ang and Avatar I understand that but yeah there's other people's names that sometimes they kind of yeah yeah I I think I really I think the thing I didn't like the most was like the kind of dumbing down the Avatar State both because of how it's supposed to be used and like the spirit of Roku what it actually means like having that line is so important you know yeah and they kind of showed like a little bit like a little bit of the room but then it was a trap and you're just out of there you don't know about anymore treacherous monk yeah and it you saw Roku and kiyoshi but then it wasn't Crook and the air woman it was something different too yeah so how is it the Avatar's fault that guy [ __ ] has no job 100 years ago the guy doesn't pay rent he lives in this great place you know yeah like having kids and flourish let's see that could be that would be my my second movies like finale maybe yeah like my first movies finale we gotta get a job would have been releasing the the earthbenders and breaking them from the prison and stuff I think that could have been a really fun show the climax too yeah and then the second movie for the for book one would have would have maybe climaxed at like getting them to the the temple and then the fire nation's attacking and everything because wasn't that in book one when they meet the inventor and they're bombing them yeah yeah I think that would have been a cool point to like maybe climax the second movie and then you go into the book one final Trilogy and then you end here at the the water northern water tribe and they should give you enough time to be able to tell maybe even if you move a few things and alter like the way the story was told initially put this story over here whatever and tell you've had plenty of time to tell all you know yeah yeah Mike is my biggest dumbfall of the movie is like I love the characters so much from Avatar yeah and I I didn't feel like they were fun here you didn't care about them here right I mean Aang I only really felt that kid was really Ang in his fight scenes and the scenes with monk gyaso yeah in the flashbacks he was cool though like yeah yeah the key was like playful and a kid or anything like that like I kind of thought that when he's like jumping around and [ __ ] I went on his fight scenes I thought exactly like when you just walk in he would just both times he escaped Zuko yeah like when he jumped up on the table and then pushed out the door and stuff like that gang when he was wrapped up with his hands and running up the walls and stuff that felt good and like Shane said there's a few times at the temple when he's running and he's doing these bigger jumps and sure but he just needed to seem like a kid and sometimes he didn't seem like a kid like you know a central theme in that first book of the TV show was like any is obsessed with having fun and getting distracted yeah because he doesn't want to focus on these things but he also was given a very clear goal like learn the three elements before the summer you know yeah before the year ends and in this it just kind of felt like he was like yeah I'm the Avatar I was sad about ran away now I'm gonna do it you know it's like the Fire episode when he's rushing to try to learn Fire before he learned water and stuff too and he learns Katara there's so many great moments that this just goes over it feels like almost every single piece of dialogue in this movie is they're talking about what's going to happen or what has happened but there's nothing on like the characters it's funny plot yeah yeah we do also I like Momo's design I actually didn't like Opera's design it looked weird I didn't like his face looks a little realistic I thought he was pretty good except for the one shot of a close-up on his face it was kind of weird but I thought like what he looked like as far as them riding on him and flying and his feet and everything looked great yeah like New Year's flutes yeah like I thought Momo looked good I thought APA was okay but I don't feel like they didn't feel like part of the group group no I mean that's the thing we didn't really get our group yeah like stuck in Aang and Qatar all left and they went to that uh like they found the Earth people and after they left there they're by the water and then Aang flies away and gets captured then we have a blue Spirit thing and you don't see Qatar and soccer for a while and then they get back together and then they go North to the water tribe and then they're there and then that's where we are like you don't have the you don't have the adventure the journey yeah you have no bonding though yes so you don't you don't feel like whenever Qatar is like Aang I knew you would save us I knew you'd come back you know that whole moment there I'm like why is she saying this like yeah like yeah they didn't even talk you never see any doubt in anyone else's mind why is she instilling this now yeah and before like everyone was like oh the Avatar is back you know it's like okay yeah he is like what like I know you I know that's you like yeah [ __ ] me what are you talking about you know like why would you doubt it what are you talking about so like you don't get the yeah you don't get any of those and you also like they like the details they do put in there I feel like just aren't fleshed out like the wanting bit water bending scroll like hey look at this awesome scroll and then like you know like they look at a couple times but there's only anything only happens they mainly learn from the master up there yeah I don't think they ever named him in the movie no I don't think they did and Katara like I don't like I don't remember much of her learning from the scroll or from that guy she just fails of fighting Zuko and that's that's pretty much it for her and then I was gonna say like another detail like they had the amazing Archer right you know when we watched that episode those archers are like it's threatening whenever they pull back the bow string because they're like we've seen these guys split helmets and take targets you know like it's crazy and you you're so afraid at that moment but here it's just like an Archer you know yeah it's like wow I guess that guy is just one guys before that was whenever the statues and he's like all the arrows come out yeah he's like oh okay and then that's it and then not until the shot again yeah so like they don't set up like the like that there's like a specific mercenary Archer guys you know and the fight of them getting out was kind of boring yeah yeah I like the idea of the training thing but it was used it was kind of boring to watch yeah like he would have gone there's one guy with fall now he would do that so long the things were closed or pushed away but yeah it wasn't like anyone getting in yeah and him trying to fight them while also keeping others away yeah that would have been much more interesting yeah it's a way of him trying to funnel to like Focus down one or two while keeping people away instead it's just him like over there yeah that's the thing like over there like if you said if you ask me like what's the most important thing about Avatar you want a nail it's going to be fight scenes the creativity and the choreography how it's done it's commonly planned down to a T and there's sometimes like when you know the blue spirit's fighting like literally a hundred guys and he just yeah I'm doing this the guy falls down you know and the Other Guy waits and he comes up and he starts getting slapped in the face with the swords yeah I thought it was really good at the end when he was like running through all those people with the water bending that was cool that was like the best thing yeah yeah like the Zhao ending wasn't the Great like him just getting yeah yeah he's drowned he's dead I feel like that was kind of anti-climactic for for how he was supposed to be taken out yeah I don't think he deserved in a series didn't the fish throw him in the water yeah right yeah well he's he's well zuku goes to save him and he refuses and the fish takes them you know yeah yeah he dies that way you know it's weird because like you're watching action scenes like they still do a little more slow motion during that time period as well they did yeah around the time of 300 a lot of slow motion was done and also there was really quick like digital Zoom ins to give an action shot and so back out that's the first thing I noticed and I was like trying to divorce myself from like some of the great fight scenes I see now I started that was that for me was actually harder to do than yeah not bringing up the cartoon in my mind yeah but you guys remember the Matrix remember the slow motion after the Masons came out yeah yeah all the time it did don't get me wrong a lot of bullet times after major oh yeah conquered that for a day Max Payne wanted yeah yeah it's so good wanted is very good it's so [ __ ] good the one where they kill the bullets yeah yeah I mean it's still nothing to say yeah this was nowhere near even close to the worst adaptation I've ever seen no it's not not like I really in my head was thinking this is going to be a lot worse than it was yeah and don't get me wrong I did not think it was good at all I think I think it would have been bad but it wasn't so bad I think the reverse happens to me of like when people are like did you guys see this it's so good you're gonna love it I watch it like well I thought it was gonna be much better but it wasn't this was like I thought it was gonna be the worst thing I've ever seen in my life I feel like if the second movie was out in theaters this week I would go see it you know yeah well for me it just like see if they fixed as an adult it's hard for me to like it at anyways yeah but I think it's a kid it'd be okay I think my kids would like it and so I kind of try to think about it like that because it's obviously for them I will say having seen both now Dragon Ball Evolution is so much worse now yeah not even close yeah which we gotta do that one next I will never watch that movie again Super Mario Brothers is a worse adaptation yeah than this was sure of course but the worst sanitation I enjoyed that movie more than this one for the way the story and stuff and everything but you also watch it when you were a kid I would be curious to have seen this when I was a kid and be like no I thought it was pretty good I don't watch the show though you know yeah maybe I don't know maybe but it's certainly not like as bad as I've heard it to be though it is in fact bad it's in my opinion it's not as bad as the happening yeah no it's not it's not it sucks this does contain one of the worst scenes I've ever seen in my life and that's just [ __ ] eight guys that was so funny it hits the guy and then the guy's like it just breaks apart I thought that was funny I laughed so hard I wonder if the movie is better for having it I'm just saying the buildup that's what I do for this the guy that's like I don't have a [ __ ] bull a boulder going in there that's too fast slow down you know I'm just saying if you had all these guys doing all this [ __ ] they don't go and then you have that slow pan you know how like Rocks come up break apart and shoot like bullets or something yeah do that maybe they couldn't do it you can do that back then they did all this [ __ ] maybe come on maybe they didn't look good what I would do is like do it look good no looking for visual artists I would have been like okay whenever they cook cook I'd have like a Rocco and then all of them go bye now yeah that would be kind of cool like they're building up these rocks and then they all fly at the same time and hit like different guys or something I feel like like the visual effects artists like he did the first rock he's like okay I'll get back to the rest and they ran out of money or time or whatever because they had the storyboard it so it's not like the visual sexual artist comes in and decides what he wants to do well the issue of visual effect supervisor does the issue with it too would have been right they would have been filming those guys and then pan over to this guy reacting with the fall I'm like all right here we go rock all right that guy falls now you know so like you gotta have that rocket like this is a guy who fell [ __ ] it up yeah that's what they're wrong if you've Fallen sooner than it had her speed that rock up make it scary I do want to see it again I do gotta say though when it started and it did the uh the opening of all the guys in front of like the mat uh color I was like oh [ __ ] yeah I'm [ __ ] excited I can't imagine all the Avatar fans going opening night to the sea in that big this is gonna be the best movie ever and I did it the very first yeah oh yeah yeah that was great long ago I'm done watching this movie I gotta watch that Earth thing I want to see the other thing too are you looking at like trivia or something yeah I just look at different things online okay Paramount Nickelodeon's first and only live action feature film based on a Nickelodeon animation TV series until Dora and the lost city of gold oh God I saw the Taylor for that isn't that crazy yeah I thought that looked okay actually it looks like an interesting thing it looked okay put a dragon and not just cast somebody actually like an actress uh she's been so much more expensive to have the dress and so cool that it's like a PR like they don't emphasize at all the previous lives of the Avatar yeah you know my favorite trivia on this is huh in Britain binder is a Slinger yeah so lions and movies that just look out he's a vendor yeah result in plenty of giggling in the UK movie theaters making it difficult for audiences to take the films I just thought that was funny well they feel that way about the cartoon too right yeah yeah I believe says well we talked about that there too but I just imagine like people in the UK going to watch this movie so little Hyrule shows up we got time okay sorry you know what you miss like you miss having moments of like with Momo he's like he's Rock bending you know yeah he's never bending when he's under that great yeah and see and I feel like the the speech here from him isn't really earned yeah no it's also taken from Katara you know she gave the speech she was the one that wouldn't wouldn't stop see I was so excited right here I was like all right well that's all right he like pulled it up you know yeah I think he's supposed to be like the most skilled earthbender it's kind of because it is all one shot right that's why it sucks that's why the timing is bad [Music] [Laughter] It's gotta be the one shot that's all I can think of I mean in theory it sounds cool is just for this tape that they got and they just had to make do I just I that was that scene something about like the pain to them and they're always that guy's so enthusiastic and then that rock has to go so slow because there's that one guy that had the paint over that's going I know yeah if all the fights in here have been like that it would maybe be the best [Music] it's such a little bit of fire so slow to me with the group of kids from Mob psycho yeah you know a little tiny fire that was the that's the craziest part of the movie all right there's nothing like that in Dragon Ball Evolution all right there's nothing that's funny no this is a lot of funny stuff there's nothing like that where it's like that's ridiculous I feel like I gotta see during my Evolution or something I haven't seen it that didn't love it then hate it I'll forget about it tomorrow I thought they are kind of just covers like everything like it's like this doesn't work for Avatar but it's so silly and kind of kind of fun yeah well effects are cool yeah the action is so so there's a timing a lot of talented people worked on this movie yeah I mean some of the action like when Aang first does Airbender yeah like that was that was great but someone's like that like I can't believe it and then like you know the powering of the Avatar I thought that was the only bad thing in that scene really though well other than like how long it takes for them to like there was there was one fire fire bender yeah over at the right where he did like a like that and he was sitting there waiting for the other guy to do this yeah oh I like that he was standing there for like three three seconds well I will say that it does feel like we've finally caught up with the Avatar fandom because I could say like yeah it wasn't a great movie but I could say have you seen this and the potential I'm excited for the Netflix series me too me too yeah I think you could do something great if they just don't rush it yeah they spin just a bunch of more money and do 10 episodes you know what I mean yeah 20. an hour each episode 10 or 10 or 12 episodes would be great to be excited I would do 22 though but I can't imagine all right thanks for watching this reaction everybody if you want to check
