legendary event now one quick note I wanted to make is thinking about the event when it started in the kinds of motorcycles that were around it actually wasn't that crazy to race around bikes that made like six horsepower around this mountain course but it's wild to think that guys are chucking Superbikes down this course at an average speed of like 130 miles an hour nowadays it's just mind-boggling thinking about the progression of the sport and the progression of the motorcycle Tech that's happened over the years at the Alamance TT and in all honesty it makes sense that it was removed from Grand Prix racing because it just was too dangerous but you think about guys like Giacomo agostini and he actually raced at the Isle of Man TT as part of the regular GP calendar which is crazy imagine now where we have all these beautiful safe tracks in the middle of the Season you just go to the Isle of Man it would be insane now the event begins with a dedicated practice week during which Riders familiarize themselves with the circuit fine tune their setups and assess their performance practice sessions take place on various days and divide it into different classes these sessions allow Riders to build their knowledge of the course test their bikes and make necessary adjustments following the practice week qualifying sessions are held to determine the starting grid positions for each race the qualifying sessions are typically held in the evenings allowing Riders to chase optimal lap times the qualifying sessions are crucial as they determine the starting order and grid positions for the races the main race week features a series of races across different classes with each race taking place on a specific day the races are run in a time trial format where Riders set off individually at fixed intervals the goal is to complete the designated number of laps around the snay full Mountain course as quickly as possible because it would be pretty nice if they all gridded up and left at the same time that would make this even more dangerous the alaman TT features races in various classes each with its own specific distance and specifications the classes include Superbike TT super stock TT super twin TT sidecar TT Junior TT and Senior Team T how many times can I say TT each class has its own race day allowing Riders to focus on their respective categories and compete for victory within their classes the super blood class is one of the Premier categories in the Isle of Man TT races it features high performance motorcycles with engine capacities of up to 1000 cc for four cylinder machines and 1200 cc for twin cylinder bikes these bikes are purpose-built for Speed and power showcasing the latest advancements in motorcycle Technology and Engineering the superbike race is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the TT with top Riders competing for victory the super stock TT is a race category that focuses on production-based motorcycles it allows modified versions of road going motorcycles to compete on the challenging Mountain course the class aims to showcase the performance capabilities of stock based machines promoting a closer connection between the race bikes and the motorcycles available to the general public a newer class in the Isle of Man TT is the super twin TT class this replaced the former lightweight class and refers to motorcycles of up to 700 CC's which allows by click the Yamaha R7 and the Aprilia rs-660 to compete all bikes in the supertune class must reach a minimum weight of 330 pounds to compete the sidecar class is a unique and fascinating category in the alamed TT races it involves motorcycles with side cars attached which are piloted by a driver and accompanied by a passenger the passenger's role is to balance and counterbalance the outfit adding stability during high-speed sections and aiding and cornering as if this race wasn't terrifying enough I could not even imagine being a passenger on a sidecar during this event hanging off the edge of the thing and trying to stabilize it that sounds unreal the June Junior TT is another significant race in the Isle of Man TT it's held typically earlier in the race week and serves as a showcase for up-and-coming talent and rising stars in the motorcycle racing world the junior TT features a mix of emerging Riders course is the heart of the Isle of Man TT races this course is on a closed Public Road circuit that stretches over 37 miles in length it winds its way through the the picturesque Landscapes of the Isle of Man encompassing both urban and rural areas the circuits known for its demanding nature featuring a combination of fast straight sweeping bends tight corners and elevation changes the race starts and finishes in the capital of the Isle of Man Douglas were the iconic TT grandstand is located and the snafel mountain course is defined by several significant landmarks that have become legendary within the world of motorcycle racing located just outside of Douglas Bray Hill is the first major test for Riders it is a steep descent that demands skill as Riders reach high speeds before tackling a tight left-hand corner at the bottom situated in the village of Balo a humpbacked bridge is famous for the jump that motorcycles make as they become airborne crossing the bridge at high speeds the Ramsay hairpin is a Bend located in the town of Ramsey requires Riders to navigate a 180 degree turn at low speeds before accelerating back onto the open sections of the course positioned such as the soul be straight and the mountain mile allow Riders to reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour one of the unique aspects of the snafel mountain course is a significant elevation change as the name suggests the course takes Riders up and over the snafel mountain which stands at 2034 feet above sea level the climbs in descents add an additional layer of complexity to the Circuit requiring Riders to adapt to varying road conditions and adjust their riding techniques accordingly The Spectator experienced during the alaman TT is unlike any other motorcycle race as well one of the highlights of the Isle of Man TT is the ability to get up and close to the racing action Spectators can line the roadsides and witness the motorcycles ripping by at high speeds sometimes just a significant Milestone this lap speed was the fastest ever recorded in history at the time of the event showcasing Hickman's exceptional skill and the advancements motorcycle technology we also can't talk about the Isle of Man without mentioning John McGinnis a real legend of the sport the dude did a lot but won so many races it's amazing the element races have been notoriously deadly since 1907 only one year has gone by without a sing single fatality during the race and that was in 1982. during the 1970 Isle of Man TT races a series of accidents resulted in the loss of six Riders lives making it one of the darkest years in the event's history in 2005 including the Isle of anti-t races and the manx Grand Prix races 11 people were killed including nine Riders one Marshall and one bystander the max Grand Prix is a motorcycle racing event that takes place on the Isle of Man it is often referred to as the amateur TT or the manx TT and it's holding the same snakefield Mountain course as the Isle of Man TT races the max Grand Prix is distinct from the Isle of Man TT in that it is specifically designed for amateur and independent Riders the Medics Grand Prix offers Riders the opportunity to compete on the legendary Mountain course test their abilities and measure themselves against other amateur Riders it has seen the rise of many talented Riders who later progressed to compete in professional ranks on the Alamance TT and other road racing events the Isle of Man TT has a fascinating history spanning over a century on some of the gnarliest motorcycle riding you could possibly imagine since 1907 the event has grown into one of the most iconic and challenging road racing events in the world with legendary Riders pushing the absolute limit and putting their lives on the line to be the best of the best the one final point I wanted to make in this video is a lot of people talk about Isle of Man Racers versus MotoGP Racers versus World Superbike Racers and I honestly think it's a little bit apples to oranges like yes you can say that they're both riding motorcycles at high speeds on closed courses MotoGP Riders have utmost precision and can lay down insane lap times in a closed course Isle of Man TT Racers have to adapt to changing environments and are just a little bit different and that's not to say that TT Racers can't have success on the world stage for Moto GP or world superbike in fact Peter Hickman did a wild card event for world superbike and I think he finished 11th or 12th which is pretty good but it just goes to show you that those skill sets are a little bit different than closed circuit riding but anyways guys thanks for making it to the end of the video this was a super fascinating one to research and learn and talk about the balls on these Riders are truly gargantuan in size it is unfathomable be sure to subscribe if you liked the video leave me a comment Down Below on what you think about the Isle of Man TT Racers and I'll catch you in the next one fact Westport a town in County Mayo Ireland was designed in the late 18th century by English architect James Wyatt it is a unique layout shape like a tricorn resembling a three-pointed hat when viewed from above goodbye foreign [Applause] [Music]
