The impact of IoT in the manufacturing sector

[Music] by 2019 92% of manufacturing organizations will have adopted Internet of Things technology IOT is set to enhance manufacturing by improving output quality and workflow efficiency but how is manufacturing using the Internet of Things today 7 and 10 executives that we surveyed define the Internet of Things as a network that connects multiple sensors and devices through the Internet there are thousands of these sensors within a manufacturing environment from temperature gauges to the individual components on the conveyor belt connecting data from these devices can improve business efficiency foster innovation and strength and security but if the data is not connected to a single common platform talking the same language all of these potential gains are lost currently 35 percent of manufacturing organizations are not fully extracting and analyzing IOT data meaning it can't be properly utilized to improve operations one of the biggest drivers for embracing IOT and manufacturing is the need to reduce operational risk but if data is not properly secured there is a higher risk of security related downtime with 82% of manufacturing leaders experiencing an IOT related breach in the past and another 92 percent concerned about the threat of future IOT related breaches it's clear a modern security infrastructure is the best defense to gain measurable benefits IOT data needs to be easily shared across all business systems in real time if this is achieved I owe t provides the secure and efficient architecture that helps meet strategic manufacturing goals rather than existing in silos workflows can be interconnected significantly increasing productivity over 70% of manufacturing leaders believe that IOT adoption will improve business efficiency in their organization this opens the door to a world of actionable insights it's no surprise that 77% of manufacturing leaders believe the Internet of Things will transform the future of their business
