[Music] good morning brothers and sisters today we celebrate the fifth sunday in ordinary time the healing eucharist incorporated in the sbd secretariat for social communications in cooperation with abs-cbn the philippine daily inquirer and balikbayan handicrafts celebrate with you this holy mass our mass beside is reverend father jerome marquez svd we now begin our celebration [Music] glorious [Music] is [Music] in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen the lord be with you and with your spirit welcome to the celebration of the eucharist lord we are unworthy of your calling yet you decide that we be one with you lord have mercy lord have mercy christ you believe in us despite our frailties and weaknesses christ have mercy christ have mercy lord you send us to be fishers of men and women lord have mercy lord have mercy may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins bring us to everlasting life amen [Music] am [Music] [Music] no [Music] uh [Music] let us pray keep your family safe o lord with unfailing care that relying solely on the hope of heavenly grace they may be defended always by your protection so lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever amen the liturgy of the world filled with a vision of god's glory isaiah confesses his unworthiness god cleanses strengthens and sends i say out to the work of prophecy the first reading [Music] a reading from the book of the prophet isaiah in the year king uzziah died i saw the lord seated on a high and lofty throne with the train of his garment filling the temple seraphim were stationed above they cried one to the other holy holy holy is the lord of hosts all the earth is filled with his glory at the sound of that cry the frame of the door shook and the house was filled with smoke then i said woe is me i am doomed for i am a man of unclean lips living among a people of unclean lips yet my eyes have seen the king the lord of hosts then one of the seraphim flew to me holding an ember that he had taken with tongs from the altar he touched my mouth with it and said see now that this has touched your lips your wickedness is removed your sin purged then i heard the voice of the lord saying whom shall i send who will go for us here i am i said send me the word of the lord thanks be to god in the sight of the angels i will sing your praises lord let us repeat in the sight of the angels i will sing your praises lord i will give thanks to you o lord with all my heart for you have heard the words of my mouth in the presence of the angels i will sing your praise i will worship at your holy temple and give thanks to your name in the sight of the angels i will sing your praises lord because of your kindness and your truth for you have made great above all things your name and your promise when i called you answered me you built up strength within me in the sight of angels i will sing your presence lord all the kings of the earth shall give thanks to you o lord when they hear the words of your mouth and they shall sing of the ways of the lord great is the glory of the lord in the sight of the angels i will sing your praises lord right hand saves me the lord will complete what he has done for me your kindness o lord endures forever forsake not the works of your hands in the sight of the angels i will sing your praises lord [Music] the lord jesus appeared to paul and called this persecutor of the church to be an apostle the second reading [Music] a reading from the first letter of saint paul to the corinthians i am reminding you brothers and sisters of the gospel i preach you which you indeed receive and in which you also stand true it is you are also being saved if you hold fast to the world i preach you unless you believe in pain for i handed on to you as of first importance what i also received that christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures that he was buried that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures that he appeared to serve us then to the world after that he appeared to more than 500 brothers at once most of whom are still leaving though some have fallen asleep after that he appeared to james then to all the apostles last of all as the one born abnormally he appeared to me for i am the least of the apostles not pit to be called an apostle because i persecuted the church of god but by the grace of god i am what i am and his grace to me has not been ineffective in indeed i have toiled harder than all of them not i however but the grace of god that is with me therefore whether it be i or they so we preach and so who you believe [Music] the word of the lord thanks be to god we now honor the holy while the crowd was pressing in on jesus and listening to the word of god he was standing by the lake of genesre he sold two boats there alongside the lake the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets getting into one of the boats the one belonging to simon he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat after he had finished speaking he said to simon put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch simon said in reply master we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing but at your command i will lower the nets when they had done this they caught a great number of fish and their nets were tearing they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come to help them they came and filled both boats so that the boats were in danger of sinking and simon peter saw this he fell at the knees of jesus and said depart from me lord for i am a sinful man for astonishment of the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him and likewise james and john the sons of zeddy who were partners of simon jesus said to simon do not be afraid from now on you will be catching men when they brought their boats to the shore they left everything and followed him brothers and sisters the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ [Music] foreign i have two very personal experience also of my vocation and my mission body of christ a thought came into my mind another event on my life i was in taiwan i was around 23 years old studying chinese language and culture niha chamayanga ranga ozai when filipino and we had the holy mass with this and i was just there and i was already a seminarian in theology and it dawned on me one thing is [Music] a mission that i dedicated myself and my congregation admit here i am lord send me but we heard of that beautiful story of a feeling of unworthiness [Music] [Music] [Music] he was persecuting the christians and then he comes now as an apostle preaching about the kirima christ has died christ has risen christ will come again and here comes paul doing it not because he is worthy but because the calling is the grace of god i may not be a good mother or father i feel unworthy i may not have done all to attend to my children or to my spouse but by the grace of god so calling is beyond our personal capabilities our achievements but because it's the grace of god and peter in the gospel of look realized that when he saw what has been done by jesus that big touch of a fish that was a divine experience of peter directly to jesus because at the end a calling is an experience of god so but what is the calling it is telling us to follow him and that is discipleship to follow jesus that's our fundamental calling when we are baptized when we are made in the image as god's children what is real is that we are called to be like jesus son of the father and so to build that relationship to god that's our first calling on iconic is symbolic we call the church also us boat and jesus rode on the boat and on top of the boat he spoke preach and peach even outside the boat as far as the seashore because lumayusha to have an image christ is on top of this boat christ is on top of this church the real person on top of this book church the head is christ he is the one preaching teaching calling sending we should not forget you fishers of men is to each christ is giving us a command i will make you fishers of men so i'm calling that and though it's personal it's not actually self-serving calling our calling rather though it's personally experienced is meant to be shared to be done beyond ourselves and we on this holy mass encourage you and so we need good christians good people to make the transformation of the world and so we elect good politicians politicians that manifest the real sense of care for each one and for the world mission along towards amen amen let us profess our faith i believe in one god the father almighty maker of heaven and earth of all things visible and invisible i believe in one lord jesus christ the only begotten son of god born of the father before all ages god from god light from light true god from true god begotten not made consubstantial with the father through him all things were made for us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven and by the holy spirit was incarnate of the virgin mary and became man for our sake he was crucified under pontius pilate he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end i believe in the holy spirit the lord the giver of life who proceeds from the father and the son who with the father and the son is adored and glorified who has spoken through the prophets i believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church i confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and i look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world come amen we now ask our heavenly father for a discerning heart so that we may do his will the mission given to us let us humbly pray lord listen to our prayer lord listen to our prayer [Music] for pope francis bishops priests deacons and all church leaders may they always stand up for the values of the gospel and never be dismayed or discouraged by opposition or lack of response we pray lord listen to our prayer for those who wish to serve our country may they dedicate their lives to protect and promote the dignity of life may they also be examples of upright living and zealous service we pray lord listen to our prayer or the end of the pandemic may the lord restore the sick to help comfort the lonely and the elderly and relieve the pain of those who suffer physically and emotionally we pray lord listen to our prayer for those who struggle with the handicaps or the weakness of old age that the people of god may reach out to them in love we pray lord listen to our prayer for all missionaries who have left home country and family to proclaim the gospel to all nations may the lord protect them from all dangers strengthen them in their loneliness give joy to their communities and fulfillment in their apostolate may the lord reward them in this life and in the life to come for their sacrifices and generosity for the kingdom we pray lord listen to our prayer let us pray for the urgent concerns of our community and our personal intentions our good and the good of all his holy church o lord our god who once established these created things to sustain us from our frailties grant we pray that they may become for us now the sacrament of eternal life through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right and just it is truly right and just a duty in our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god for you lay the foundation of the world and have arranged the changing of times and seasons you form man in your own image and set humanity over the whole world on all its wonder to rule in your name over all you have made and forever praise you in your mighty works join in this banquet lord i am not worthy that you should enter under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed [Music] an act of spiritual communion my jesus i believe that your presence in the most holy sacrament i love you above all things and i desire to receive you into my soul since i cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally come at least spiritually into my heart those who are physically weak at this moment who may be suffering from the coronavirus and other diseases and illnesses grace them by your healing touch strengthen their will and their spirit touch those who are weak by reasons of emotional reasons the dysfunctional families that arrest are being reasonable and responsible make us to be open to others and not to put barriers or prejudices and biases allow us to be a witness of love and compassion and by your healing lord let us be free from all these sicknesses and illnesses grant us in jesus name amen let us pray oh god who have will that we be partakers in the one bread and the one chalice grant as we pray so to live that made one in christ we may joyfully bear fruit for the salvation of the world through christ our lord amen the lord
