[Music] so scene where [Music] we're reviewing the happening that was really cold that's really good okay so cold he's so cold hello and welcome to the 26th episode of good bad or bad bad the show where we watch terrible movies and tell you if you should do I in your host mr. Brown chileo join I'm a co-host I don't know who they're but the air is looking fabulous today mr. Kyle hittin guys we are gonna review the happening what no another movie that has Bryan Dyer oh boy this one I wasn't expecting it to make me angry as it did again we're good with these ones that bigger ones that we do I've always never seen them which is good at least you know I feel better whenever we do a big more popular movie I don't what I've never seen before how you can go through your life just right and have not seen the happening I literally have not and I realize I haven't even seen like parts of it I've seen like a click or two on the internet like you know posted as like a mean a spicy mean but like I've never seen like an actual parts of the movie this thing's a [ __ ] piece of garbage is so bad it is and I mean I've seen some of the other of not so good in night movies I'm not a coward Georgia cow so the happening in night Shyamalan you mentioning know um movie like my favorite bad news it's pretty great it's pretty great but it also may be super angry let's jump right in unless you have something you want to get hit on this this film was a massive success I don't know if you financially financially really forty eight million dollar budget one hundred and sixty three million dollar box office well because probably because the trailers were interesting they're there the second stage physical disorientation the third stage is fatal because it's like when you don't know what it is and I guess my biggest thing one of my biggest things is not watching this movie and one of the other reasons that made me so angry apart from some of the science these stuff we'll talk about is how much potential there was in a movie like this I think like there is some legitimately scary and off-putting moments in this movie like that scene and we'll talk about it more than where the the first scene where they the cop shoots himself and then drops the gun and somebody else walks out like that's a good like very interesting well shot tent like oh [ __ ] like the guttural scene [Music] and there's moments like that throughout it that I my commander potential here like the whole thing with people killing themselves it if it was done in any way competently it would be a good movie what we're reminds me of a roland emmerich zone [Music] yeah I mean yeah the natural disaster type of thing I mean yeah it's not as bad to say 2012 but which if you want to hear here's people you should care about because of a reason kill themselves yeah [Music] let's get right in to this piece of [ __ ] clowns okay three [ __ ] minutes of time left clap clap that's a time lapse clause way to make the most interesting credits for your film yeah with white titles over them we all right so we get out of the guy who tiles Mark Wahlberg's LED I love all the best you know and then yeah they got some good talent designer yeah yeah so the first thing is that I'm the first thing that I really got me and I hadn't really thought about it that happening is a really [ __ ] dumb title for a movie and it's like on your movies the event in a good this thing that happened like it's just I don't I don't know I get what they were going forward like it yeah exactly but it's just I'm sitting there singing amorous thought about like this is the fluffy dumb title I want it popped up in full words on the screen I can't that's really dumb yeah so you're not wrong yeah so central park and we get right into it holy so you're not much time in the movie a clear Lindsey the the killer of this movie is not just plants it's the wind there's wind anywhere near you you're dead I thought my first day comes when they're yeah that's true my person thing went on there they're sitting in the park and they're like it happening in park like oh my god it's homeless people and pan handlers and street performer that would be so much better a clip like if they were these like they're opposed like it's the it's the next plug the condemned video games yes exactly that's right holy [ __ ] I forgot that game injustice that was a good game the first one and it my second one but um one of the scariest video games I've ever played [Music] people killing themselves in the park just getting you know spore infected or planting oh well we have no idea yeah we just they're sitting there in the way but the thing that indicates that they are being taken over is they start walking back they either stop completely and then some of them start walking backwards which I you know I think what that is I think what that is and I could be wrong we'll get sidetracked again I think the idea is that there's like it I think there's like a some sort of infection or virus or something that weren't in text like ants or something like that they go bad you know sometimes the fungus race yeah and I don't know if the whole walking backwards is like part of that but it's like in that sense it I say it's like a fungus that makes them crawl up and then dies and oh yeah they get to a high place yeah and then I think it was a similar idea and I think maybe the walking backwards supposed to be you know it somehow second eye if you would like to hear my thoughts on the Last of Us oh yeah that's be providing the negative the dissenting opinion to pretty much everyone in the known universe when he says that the Last of Us is not a good game I'm gonna let him have the floor and try to make his point I think he will fail I will say my biggest problem with this game as far as what its selling point is is the story okay I absolutely hate the story I really it's real quickly to look up to that first woman in the park this really drove me crazy oh I know she is the girl from cabin in the woods yeah good idea really so yeah step something up with a pen kind of pull up oh [ __ ] well I understand why would everybody affect it except that one girl on the bench who eventually was but like an earring issue was though yeah that's true she's but well she better have been because if she wasn't she's completely unaffected by her friend plunging her her putting hair pin into her jugular because the camera looked at her see just like page 62 yeah yeah then still things he's like I forgot or at what place I was at and she already has the book open and is reading it and I guess there's good I forgot where you're at the place where the killers need to decide what to do the crippled girl so annoying the next scene is probably my favorite scene in the whole movie the construction worker yeah there's you know spin [ __ ] the construction site yeah and some guy falls off and they're just like yo Christ McKenzie fell yeah walk over they call in the colon for an ambulance and then it starts raining man I will have you [Music] yeah and that's a pretty good creepy again that's another scene that like the first five minutes of this movie before you know anything of happening it's super effective yeah like that scene alone yeah because and that's why I was in the train yeah that's why it's been the trailer and that's why this so many people want to see it because you see those kind of stuff [ __ ] the trails like one no uh-uh and then it's just all about them hello but I also and this is the thing that people do in movies all the time and interested in life real life I don't understand it I want to know if you can explain it to me so the guys fall the first guys want falls on the ground and they all run hope her and he's like all [ __ ] up and dying anybody still alive and they're like call an ambulance and then he's like guys guys give them room give him some room and I'm like why that's a thing give him room why are we giving it what does that do what is backing up from a guy if anything you should get closer and comfort on as you what I ain't whoa whoa whoa it helps them get different camera thank you let me feel be at movies all the time go give him room given why all right and then so he's dead construction worker said we want to clap Marky Mark Recchi mark look I don't know if you guys have heard about this article New York Times about honey bees vanishing oh ah ah man while the Mark Wahlberg so that because this classroom a science teacher teaching some kids like Oh kids okay guys we're leaving it up here where the other keys go any put got ideas who can I be it I let's hear some theories about why this might be happening I'm like global warming and like random very like viruses anybody right could be a virus or infection that's all over the country is coordinated event 24 states a little tricky so that's all good and then and get to a point one kid like oh yeah oh he starts hitting on that one kid it's like you it's a Joe you got perfect face your face is perfect should be more interested in science Jake you know why because your face is perfect whoa alright it's getting a little uncomfortable admit up the kids like Bill you know he doesn't like to give a [ __ ] you got to have an opinion yeah that's got him alright [ __ ] natural natural event will never understand an act of nature and will never fully understand it in mark what was like a good answer yeah I sense you [ __ ] yes yes no good answer okay I welcome permit any cuz Mark Wahlberg said and I owe you a rant because Mark Wahlberg owes and science will come up with some reason to put in the books but in the end it'll be just a theory worst [ __ ] science teacher in his okay the word theory in the context of science does not mean the law of Albrecht says it needs you to theory theory is like the most ironclad you have to test [ __ ] so much and do so much research and have to did it not legitimately you know it's not about just enjoying a hypothesis is a theory yes that is the word very used no no hypothesis is concrete no well yes but it's different a lot of the subscribes a theory there's nothing past the theory wall is a little bit different it's a fundamental like thing a theory describes a set of your science people yelling at me but I'm going to go a theory literally legitimately when something graduates to be being a hypothesis is the lower level like if you have a conjecture and your test name is trying to figure out that's true the hypothesis when something becomes a theory in the world of science like legit world of science that out in the day to day terms they will I have a theory that I farted in it smelled bad like sure whatever that's a kind of main sense but a theory in science is literally like we know this is basically true it would take a monumental shift in our understanding of the universe for this to be disproven that's what there is and so I suppose just a theory we will fail to acknowledge that there are forces at work beyond our understanding be a good scientist you must have a respectful all for the laws of nature so uh Cameron this is in this movie for hardly walk okay so the somebody comes in and says well yeah principal like Airy holding a faculty yeah emergency faculty meeting him wherever what can we do for you I'm afraid I have to interrupt you for a moment mr. Moore Alan what's the principal of the school for some reason yes yes like all [ __ ] Cameron became the authority he hated it like he became his father as bad and I was like oh I got an important character because you know know he's in one scene exactly one 1x18 aren't cool so basically they're like oh we run school out and could we're back there evacuating Jersey Jersey there no I think they're silly because and that's got a jerk off Philadelphia man you know they're yeah they're one of those places I think they're in Philly so they got evacuate because they're having all these they're like oh maybe there's like a terrorist attack or something people are killing themselves in the parks and we don't know what's going on so we're getting people out of the city and so they start all running away and we are like I said we're introduced to we'd be John Leguizamo is like Mark Wahlberg's friend teacher who's a math teacher and he says stuffed in a long line but he's talking to his mom and she was scared or I don't know he said something along I told him about some person I gave her some percentages because percentages comfort people and told it I told her the probability of something happening in Philadelphia is very low I mean nobody song it to leave the city right so I do some figures at it it's good to be a Matthew to sometimes get up people people are comforted by percentages nothing [ __ ] [ __ ] know people are not comforted by percentages know people know by birth percentages but [ __ ] it you know if you say somebody has like a 90 or 95 percent mortality right yeah that's not gonna help it's like oh you know the odds are like if people actually cared about percentages nobody would play the lottery and then so I was like alright what are the odds of dilatation ELLs going to be a Manic Pixie it's really not but her first scene she's looking pretty manic she's like having up [ __ ] staring contest with a cellphone because the phone keeps ringing and the name Joey's popping up so I'm gonna do she's [ __ ] idiot no that's not which is you [ __ ] crazy so Mark Wahlberg gets home another guy we got out of city and they start they're getting ready to start evacuating and this is where it likes their dialogue the first time I noticed in like every delivery and every line of dialogue it's like just a half step off I think you kill yourself just when you think there couldn't be any more people like be invented from what it should be like it's it's fairly not I am frightened that M Knight doesn't hand people scripts until the day of that's what it is what it seems like or something cuz everybody's delivered which by the way makes sense for Bruce Willis in successful movies like the 6/10 first of all is it the kind of actor who will take a script and go back and when I had a dream out in the state there we go oh yeah well she was ever since let me let me ask you a question who's your second choice to play John McClane ok so then they match great he's like the train station where they're going to start and they meet up with John Leguizamo and not like is that what decides to be a [ __ ] well cuz earlier he was telling Mark Wahlberg he's like oh yeah because he knows that him Mark Wahlberg and billions a snail had a fight and it's like yeah I saw at the wedding I could tell us who they want to marry you I walked into Lane room by mistake and she was crying she looked up saw her face she wasn't ready to jump in Elliot that's not who she is she's never going to jump in when you need him Wow all right and then later when they meet up with him again him and his daughter cousin Alabama has a daughter they meet up with a mess Iowa train station and shuffling that one says to her he's like how are you okay you good okay good well I don't really glad you chose to come but why is throwing my dark device mark Wolverton does he's like what is your [ __ ] problem man to dect my shoeless ex you gotta [ __ ] find your chill man what is the [ __ ] that happened on the train because it's like people are getting information yeah they start getting calls they're under so they get on a train never they're going out of the city and the like she's talking to Joey at one point or trying to Joey calling her you've got that cool acting like the fatal attraction guy here I feel like I'm gonna do a shy one senior silhouette on the shower curtain but then everybody starts getting calls because they realize like it is spreading or something like that like it's happening in more areas and then they stop at a train station and I'm still playing this was just a little bit but they stop the train stops and they're at a train station and Mark Wahlberg what's going on now what I'm like well sometimes trains stop at train stations our birthday like six conductors all huddle the other yeah like they're conducting like a football play or something yeah I just I just love this when it stops at a train station Edwards a Chloe on what's happening it's like in the tri-state and that's what trains do why are you freaking it up you can't so he go to thoughts like it took us and the candid dialogue he's like what's going on guys what's going on and they're like oh we gotta we had to stop train stop anybody why are you giving me one piece of information that it eyes what do you mean where are we Gilbert Pennsylvania Silbert does anybody know where that is why are you giving me one useless piece of information at a time what's going on Rob that lot dude guys why didn't give me one useless information at time hi how much why would you just stop dude how do you think it was forcefully trying to stop his Boston accent I forgot yeah it doesn't it feels a pretty good job but he maybe that's why he sounds so [ __ ] stupid I said hey why would you just stop you can't just leave us here guys why didn't get what guys I don't know his delivery is again off it's so weird why are you giving me one useless piece of information at a time what's going on and then he decides again a science teacher decides to peddle [ __ ] mood rings to children and act like they're real just to comfort that little girl which whenever this ring can supposedly tell you what you see this lady gets the video sent to her on a phone and it's the lion attack and they all gather around flash footage is amazing I got it hard to believe in 2008 that was the best composite of a guy in bill Lyon think that they could do because it does not look great but it is pretty great when he gets an arm ripped off so they're all at this cafe and they said we gotta get the [ __ ] out of here because we got we were 90 miles like they show like a map on TV of like where this is happening and there's none outside this certain range and they're like we're only like an hour from there I know let's just go this one understand so this whole train of like hundreds of people were in this town and then they'll leave and everybody gets in cars and drives away where did they get those cars yeah cuz Mark Wahlberg and his and Zooey Deschanel don't have a car nor like excuse me sir search we get a ride please we don't have any transportation we're stuck here so Rd do what I said we don't have any transportation we have a little girl with us please we're drink and no card because they're the only people left how does all the tree what we're all people go postal but luckily they find one guy my favorite goddamn character in this movie the botanist um hi I I run a plant nursery up the street we're picking up a few things from home than headin wherever this isn't happening wherever this isn't happening getting ripped flower get thrower got like the greatest beard ever and his nose ever so slightly he is a very interesting character he's great so he is like hey we live we get we grow plants a couple of miles from here we have stop by her house and then but you can ride with us and so that I cool and he's like John Stehr oh let's go and john turtle who has the full time to trying to get ahold and attack dude Oh John turtle and John Stehr oh and John Stehr oh [ __ ] John Leguizamo it's been trying to get rid of his wife this whole time who stayed behind to look for a present for their daughter she's looking for a birthday present for get some kind of nah house that's why she wasn't with us the worst possible time wait going shopping window like a [ __ ] apocalypse is that mangle there's no lines yes true true so he's but he's like he hasn't able to talk get a hold of her in like a couple hours so he's worried and she was in Princeton um so he finds a car that going to Princeton and he's like look take my daughter I gotta go get my wife and there's like this big heartfelt moment I'm just gonna go get it and I want to bring them back and I'm gonna find you guys I need I need you to take yes okay it's gonna be a lot safer with you this is me I'm doing my best here Mac fall now I'm sure the probability of Princeton not being hit is good I'll bite and I'm like I don't [ __ ] care I never would never seen his wife and never met her if there was a scene like they try to tug your heartstrings here I'm like oh give a shoot about these people we're ten minutes in the moment I've never even seen a stupid [ __ ] white I don't care he's like here to take care of my dog oh and then Jesus Ryan delivery is amazing oh my god yeah he goes here he's like begging them to take her to his daughter he's like taker cuz can update he's a guy take her keep her safe and then so so today's you know look okay we'll take her and takes her hand I gotta turn take my daughter's Hamlisch me please don't take my daughter's hand like you mean it what a [ __ ] you asked them to do it they said yes we'll do it and then you flip out on what's happening I got it don't take my daughter's hand wish me everything our good friends yeah the way yeah it's all my sir I mean Jumblies I was at their wedding yeah yeah I I don't I guess because he just said it to zooey deschanel cuz he's like he's like he's like oh he doesn't like her right now cuz she thinks she's cheating on Mark Wahlberg or something I don't know but it was so weird all right all right we're dope like we did the thing you asked okay go get mom folder page well he leaves gifting the car with them drives away and then we go to the plant the nursery where this guy you can work if you get the subtle juxtaposition evident of the where they drive up to the nursery the plant nursery what I remember LaShawn nucular rienner you clear clear yeah it does react yeah the background yeah so he goes did I get the nurseries like the plants are doing this I think I know what's causing this you do is the plants they can release chemicals like well welcomes all that mystery thank God we're in the room yeah got one the roof yeah yeah is like it's the plants they do [ __ ] like this and now we're we don't believe him because he's a kook a weirdo like and zooey deschanel like he's [ __ ] crazy cuz cuz he has the great wine about hot Nakash look like in hot dogs from the road you know hot dogs get a bad rap kind of cool shape they got protein if you like hot dogs right but back in hot dogs you guys like wrapped up check it protein you like hot dogs don't you oh he's so Corky put a fun character they start to get on the road and we cut back to John Leguizamo in the car with his people and this scene is [ __ ] bonkers on hang on let's talk about the people in the car you get yet some people freaking out in the back this is one girl because it will they come on a corner as a bunch of people that are telling them what like five people in the g4 it it doesn't may have four or five yeah yeah but people freaking on the back then you have John Leguizamo in the front like looking at oh [ __ ] [ __ ] going on guys keep people calm huh and then the driver of our Jeep is one brinel [ __ ] in a ka oh yeah flirt that's right [Music] forget you know you told me your the movie and I still didn't miss them I've missed them vocally they don't show his face okay that was I they show that gotaga I was yeah I was so focused on the nonsense happening in the scene that I couldn't care about any of that so like the girl starts freaking out because I saw a bunch of people hung themselves and which understandably is like holy [ __ ] those people were dead and then to come he goes da mo calms her down by doing math problem better I'm gonna give you a Mac waiter okay you gonna tell me answer it looks quick right look at me what we do is math problem you get a penny every day doubles every day how much money got the end of mud mmm she's like a dollar kind of like you're stupid are you so dirty does it happen thirty yeah it's got no 30 I know it's dirty dirty dirty it's like no it's like a million dollars so the two million dollars [ __ ] EE that's how that [ __ ] work [ __ ] EE how do they learn I love it they're like oh [ __ ] it's here then they'd like to turn off the air conditioning and make sure all the windows are rolled up and they like shove stuff in the vent close the bench but then John Leguizamo looks up and there's a little tiny hole oh noes that's not how it works you I mean this is so preposterous to me because they're driving they're already in a place where this has happened because we've seen bodies and they had the air conditioning on [ __ ] and to find a soft-top Jeep it's not like it's airtight except for one tiny little hole in the but they play it like this because like you would already be this little oldest moving [ __ ] [ __ ] when you're in a [ __ ] car like they do air gets in you can't stop it like it's this and that happens so many times movie where people like oh just stay inside you just stay in your room oh we don't live in hermetically filled things air comes in low places we live all the time you can't it doesn't work that way it's so [ __ ] stupid you stay away window industry tell it or not to go near the window with the tree to tell her voice we're Mark Wahlberg and they're on the phone girl the girls like I'm buying everybody's dead outside and she's like and she's like I can see by the window with the tree and them are horbet you win absolutely full bill o'reilly there for a second how care it there goes in plant goes I can't slam I really like shove a towel under a door that air can't get into places hold it for you can't explain that [Music] god Keeney another Miller they know no more decent water okay so then the guy crashes the cheap and John Dante floors it yeah and crashes it into a tree and fly through the windshield and then John Turturro gets out but he seems very like I was a goatee alright because he doesn't seem as like zombies like blow out of it as the runt sit down and the most Tom Brady pose yeah oh okay yeah but he did and he looks like just upset he doesn't look like the recipe for like and kill himself he's like oh this sucks and I'm like wait what and then but any picked over beat the Glassman plugins listen for a moment okay well he's gone already too bad I didn't care about him because he was in the mood for 10 minutes and I just don't care I think I said John Sottero again then John Turturro gets out back to back to Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch yeah so they are driving and they had a good point and they ran into a military guy coming from a military base this guy this guy looks he's dressing fatigues he does not present himself as such he is [ __ ] just out of his mind like upset all-time in this movie but this is so stupid because I just came from the military base this way and he goes and I saw and I didn't see anybody there but there was bodies in the barbed wire fence I think they've been affected by whatever's happening I lost communication with them when I approached the base I saw military personnel in the barbed wire in the fence he's ok clear they're in the fence yeah yeah yeah but first on top of that why would that be how on a military base that people killed themselves yeah colliding to park their gun sale has guns right you can you could pull off some you know kim jeong-hoon type [ __ ] where you're killing be able to anti-aircraft like fire yeah but I just didn't understand where I was like well this thing later it turns out that the [ __ ] stuff can make you attack like try to spread it it seems like the old lady at the end I think we'll talk about it later if that was the case these people should have been killing it but it was like why would they crawl in the barbed wire to kill themselves in her own [ __ ] military base there's a million ways it's so easy to kill yourself why would you cross fear like oh it's a great killer self with a [ __ ] white paper cutting yourself - definitely when you have a [ __ ] machete next to it yeah so now Joey Joey J no one oh my god just say anything my cousin my uncle my friend no one's a huge group of people all met up in like the same crossroads in the middle yeah Philadelphia somewhere because they realize oh it's every direction let's just hang out here and it's alright we need to start heading west in groups we should go into two groups yeah and so they start splitting up but the way they split up is kind of disproportionate well innocent is this ego so we go in groups the first groups going to go is people that are ready to go right now those that are ready to go right now second group people that need to get stuff in their car those that need to get things from their cars we need to stay in groups how long does it take to get stuff from your car two seconds they bring up a dude who's a real estate agent for the area this is mr. Collins he's a realtor that works in this area and he knows where they're building places yeah and so but they go in two groups and Mark Wahlberg's in the first group and it's a slightly smaller curve because people have to go get stuff from their car wash and whatever that's it it's so contrived because they just needed to split them up into groups so they can figure this out but their groups that are like 100 feet from each other but he has a whole sense about we'll go in two groups you're not really into groups if you're like can see each other like that's a one group just but this is where the wind starts becoming like the killer of the film which is ridiculous and silly the wind's coming through and the officer like the privates starting to walk backwards yeah oh nice just screams out a line oh my god my god is my robot something somebody goes full metal jacket yeah it's not like a military thing that they say firearm that's not right well not my god probably austere my firearm is my friend and then they start shooting them I was like no beard guy he became that Kurt yeah he was like oh yeah yes so and then you start we start hearing gunshot never get those and we get that my favorite delivery tied for my favorite delivery in the whole movie that will mean my girlfriend watching this movie set this up for a second all we're hearing in the background is gunfire girls off yeah this line literally I laughed like 33 seconds ever happen you start hearing the gunshot and it cuts to a close-up of Mark Wahlberg and he just goes oh no it's like the most like the way you would say oh no like if you found out like your kid like didn't get a good grade at school I'll know his reaction to people killing themselves 50 feet away oh no their way through to everything you have to do something we can't just be you know uneventful bystanders what do we do we need to do something just something I need a second he releases we're not near the road he's like we can't do those no nothing like everybody else what are you supposed to do they've got guns in there killing them felt like there's spores and [ __ ] over the app what do we want to do I you what is your plan forward like this fungus yeah pollen but whatever it is yes some neurotoxin or something and second it is like torso called you fake come on dude make you side douchebag not the second you were children in that diet need a second okay why should anybody give me a goddamn second took a douche bag I in that situation I think and I was like trying to give it a direction and Mark over just stuck there shut up filled me every time we like figure it out do like figure it out I don't know where gotta run from the wind out of nowhere Rick comes up with the idea that it was because that was a bigger group something in this field could be releasing the chemical into the air when there's too many of us together and the trees and plants were attacking them because that was a bigger group and that it's being carried on the wind so we need to stay ahead of the wind let's just stay ahead of the wind that's not a [ __ ] thing stay ahead I'll go in how do you stay ahead of wind does he need to stay upwind that would make sense we're not even get into the dumbest thing explained which is why are the plants doing this well you mean why persons exhalation is plants can't get up and run away so the early solution is to rapidly evolve yeah rapidly evolve what within a single generation yeah I like real quick yeah it's not that break up into groups we got to stay ahead of the wind my Hut you can't stay ahead of wind that's nothing you can't outrun wind so [ __ ] stupid but then they start trying to outrun the wind and you literally cut back and forth between them running and the wind is blowing up they deplane behind them oh oh oh oh what is it happening so now they get they split the group even more so and now it's just marky-mark zooey deschanel little girl these these two teenage kids and that's that's the group but they run across like a house or like a subdivision it's it's that yeah it's the real estate properties yeah talking about yeah and they go in there and everything's everything's fake and the only thing I could think of was like oh no they walk it on nucular - I know initially that was my first song I'm like wait now they're in a middle Pennsylvanian everybody but I thought the same thing I was like it could be like Indiana Jones or getting a refrigerator but there the scene where there's a scene where he just gets done looking through the books and stuff and like I'll be fine no we're going to talk about for real quick before that when he says like he's looking in the map in that room couldn't oh you're talked about which is great but he's going to map in that room and he said the line he's like okay well we got to get away from population centers because that's you know that's what's affecting the most attacking big groups of people if it is and people are setting it on from groups we need to go to least populated place can't be safe and zooey deschanel right after him goes yeah I think what we should do is get out of populate she said the exact same thing he said this is that whatever it is Terrace I knew clearly plants it's probably safe to get away from people right now probably what what all right all right and then the bet just the best moment and this is where it really starts to take off and I'm like what is the [ __ ] tone of this movie what the [ __ ] is the tone of this [ __ ] film because Mark Wahlberg he looks like but he sees a plant in the corner of the room it walks up to it then started saying all computer starts all good look we're not going to do anything bad we're just going to get what we need and leave it we're not going to effectuate it anyways hello my name is Elliot more just going to talk in a very positive manner giving love could find Anthony grabs a whole belief is like I'm talking to a plastic plant yeah I think I was Mark Wahlberg realizing in that moment just how [ __ ] I'm and do all this movie it is land it in night one every dollar am I really talking to a plant okay but I love the way they reveal it it's how it's hysterical like it's like a comedy beat work but it's supposed to be scary I think I don't know because he literally looks up and it's like a slow pan up and it's like oh my god like it's like it's the killer was in the corner of the room you know but it's a [ __ ] tree and it's just the most oh it's so silly so it's just so much where the tone goes back and forth the thing that immediately follows that is where he's walking to the house and the revealing like it's just fake prop set up stuff and get like hey look look this there's nothing coming out of this glass yeah and then it follows through Mark Wahlberg hitting on like this monitor because they ask if it's into this movie is this other kid in front of tables like why is this happening yeah why is this happening it looks like good question how I feel about this in the meter so then they see a guy come late on in from a lager which again is kind of great like Britain except for all the security measures on a lawnmower that will never let her are you that sure he's somehow broken so he could be yeah right good good it's kind of like a oh [ __ ] like on and again that's one of the shots in the trailer because it's the only interesting scary creepy [ __ ] like that's actually cool is in the trailer and it's all like but it's still back and forth because he was just talking to a plant and now we're watching now were supposed to be scared of a guy getting ruined I've ever made that trailer got paid well yeah yeah exactly so then they decide to leave they decide to go further out in the middle of nowhere and this I love this scene because it's like something out of a [ __ ] jailed Apatow movie where so he finds out she confesses as Oh at some point Zooey Deschanel or some point confessed to Mark Wahlberg Oh Joey was this guy I had dessert with there was this guy Joey his name is Joey he's a work went out and we had dessert I went out and I had dessert with him when I told you I worked late and I didn't work late we didn't do anything we just went after work and had dessert or whatever I told you I was working late I was having dessert when I think legitimately mean she just went and got dessert though I don't I don't think so because the way they play it I don't think she [ __ ] him I think it's actually like I think she just feels super guilty like I think it's supposed to like be kind of cute like oh she feels so guilty that she just went and had dinner with this guy then but nothing acted anyway but so she confesses that so then like the scene after this they're walking and Mark Wahlberg's like he knows one time and it is a copy of an incident great great comedy he was like I was at a pharmacy I was in the pharmacy awhile ago it was a really good-looking pharmacist pie on the counter yeah good-looking farms really good happen I went up and I had a stroke officer voice really good-looking I went up and I asked where the cough syrup was I didn't even have a call it was like six dollars a bottle of it and I almost bought it I'm talking about a completely superfluous bottle of cough syrup that's like six bucks oh good is this a great comedy and pretty thing where's that now we just watch the guy you run over by a lot more and then the next minute kids getting shot in the face with a shotgun what about halfway and the kids give me Mark Wahlberg relationship and idea oh my god you need to take personal responsibility for yourself in a relationship I'll make a difference okay thank you it's just bonkers this movie is just ball coins there a radio out in the middle of autumn meadow we're sitting on offense no well yeah they go up to this boarded up house to get like food or whatever to see then get food epic and there's people in look there swing mark lovers go maybe that's not a good idea maybe that has been a good idea quiet hey wait me with it okay [ __ ] I don't [ __ ] know either like the hand that line maybe that's not a good idea why is it not a good at what and then let's take quiet ominous because like oh the tree limb looks like it might break and if you break that tree limb the tree killing case yep oh boy we're perfectly normal well Blackwater keep on rolling Mississippi move won't you keep on shining on me like they're like yeah knocking up knocking out of there and beating and everything like waiting somebody good let's just break it let's just break it yeah the kids that's your kid with them out yet and then they find out some are there and they think that it's like a terrorist attack that's leave now you're gonna bring that poison gas in here with it sir it's not poison gas there's none out here they said to stay inside we're fine right now nothing's happened down here yet I mean you can see that just listen to our voices and they pull out a shotgun yeah and blow that kids check open and I also yeah like oh my boys [ __ ] biggest [ __ ] doli [ __ ] and I've been I'm really enjoy me that and I haven't seen before this is Mark Wahlberg making funny jokes about pharmacists like it's so crazy but really knowing is like Mark Wahlberg keeps telling me kids to stop trying to break in but he doesn't stop the kid Josh stopping Josh stop it like you'd like to stop it Tyler it's like dudes go stop go like what are you doing so then didn't even crazier because the other kid wasn't doing anything he was just like looking down knocking on the window looking to the window yeah the other kid at least was like trying to kick down the door so like bit like this it shot good [Applause] what what what is like where does this come from like I know why and I think just the tone is so but I can't take it seriously at this point because it's so stupid that like I can't fathom that I'm supposed to like find this engaging or like that this is supposed to be like affecting me in some way other than this is ridiculous and stupid because your movies tone is just everywhere and makes no sense in Lydia they're running I get out of there and they run across this what looks like an abandoned house yeah he's in the middle of nowhere and they find the craziest [ __ ] old person there why I and my lemon drink so I go inside you're having dinner with in it and just ladies just [ __ ] insane what the [ __ ] she makes a statement like I wasn't expecting guests and Zoe just now makes it off in economy that you would if you're out somebody talks to you well this is a very beautiful place you got here and it should just go a little red talk about oh there's a spring outs out back it's got a spin tube in yeah this is a beautiful place there's a spring house in the back they used to hide people from slave chasers back there it has a a speaking tube running under the ground to the main house used to hide slaves only like the Underground Railroad or whatever they're like that and it's like and yeah it's got to be you been talking I'm like oh I wonder if that'll ever come back I'd like about it that is the most random [ __ ] thing she said it serves no purpose with that scene know it so it literally just there so it can say so yeah so we could set it up it's [ __ ] yeah it's like that the Gold Wonder and that'll finish I request the girls yeah any dinner girl reaches for food on the table right in front of her instance don't touch things that aren't yours do this no testings our ears yeah you're getting the [ __ ] they're going to stay there tonight she offers never a room but yeah this is where this is where is grainy the scene happened yeah it's the one it's just known as just like the only benighted scene in this movie Zoe the kid are going to sleep with Mark Wahlberg is going to go well there did he's talking to Joey Deschanel and and she's like I don't like this lady we should get out of here and it's like we'll just stay the night she's just different and they hear a creak in the hallway yeah and so he goes to check it out and she's like planning a hearing in the hallway in her nightgown I hear you whispering plenty I'm stealing from me planning on stealing something no ma'am we're not what no play on murdering me in my sleep no plan on murdering me in my sleep what no I'm kidding thing to do like this is north kick what no inmate are we good on that do we need another one no this is where I got to the point and this is my theory and I don't know if it's true it's just my my hypothesis I came up with here's my theory at this point what how ridiculous all averted and the delivery I feel like it's somewhere in the process they realized this this is terrible right and they go here's what we do we intentionally use like the worst takes because like the first half there's not as much bad like like I'm not like terrible wines and tasting [ __ ] there start in the second half and I think they realize how bad it wasn't really let's just make a good bad movie like the editor and they were like and so they started putting there's no excuse for the way Mark Wahlberg delivers what Oh what no way there's no excuse for that being in your film is my dummy and I'm like did they do this on purpose or like you know what it what we have these ridiculous tailors put them in you're going to hate me for saying this I think Mark Wahlberg is a confident actor oh no I don't hate you okay I do it's a great accurate time go handy yeah no I like look I think the fighter is a great movie yeah I lie I think I think Mark Wahlberg is great in the departed mmm I'm a guy who does his job you must be the other guy it's just when you hand him absolute garbage that you're clearly not getting any direction for yeah and you're clearly getting it handed to you in segments oh yeah I'm no clue what's going over there this is the lazy even he's an actor that needs a good director and a good script like he had to he he's a good cog and he can also play like a fun lead like in certain movies like he despite how terrible and if you won't hear more about it anything was and how terrible uh the train for Missoula that just was all because despite how terrible transformers 4 was he's a charismatic guy and he can play that but in order for him to be really good in the movie he needs a really good director and even if the movies bad he's the kind of guy who like yeah he knows it's bad going it would look like fun with like transformers it's kind of how it felt like there's been [ __ ] great coming I'm sure he read this resident it was like this is stupid 20 million dollars yeah let's at home with this film so he walks into a room the next morning to like and I was like oh she did what sit there he's like there's a [ __ ] job creepiest [ __ ] doll every engine looking around and then she's behind him still ee you kill my egg claim that he's stealing from her yeah then he's like no no no mrs. jones i actually wanted to talk with you know or and then she just screams at him and said get out and then she leaves in this region it's not safe [Music] yeah yeah yeah and then it go that she goes out in the garden and he goes after and he's like hey lady can we just talk calmly perfect I'm a teacher mrs. Jones could we talk calmly for a second please hear me out see I'm a teacher I know you you what makes what about any of your interactions with this woman makes you think she will have a calm rational conversation with you Mark Wahlberg she's [ __ ] insane just leave Chris Lee exactly I was like just push her down the stair and say she killed herself no is it oh my goodness all of you so if you ever want an excuse to kill somebody I'm engine not that I'm at not that either of of yes whatever aalverson she lives alone she is elderly she lives far away from society and has no means of communication and nobody really cares that she's out there so whoever wanted and to kill somebody for Tinley and all of that is during an event where people are just killing them yeah yeah just yeah do it good Marta do it mark come on okay so then she had it hit her like she's out in the garden and it hit her it hits her and then she hits the wall yeah a lot and this is where I thought maybe cousin he realizes she started walking backwards and he's like oh [ __ ] he gets inside he shuts all the doors and I love this at first he just shut the screen door I'm like that was not going to work and then it shows the bay door but he hides in a room and he's like where are they at he can hear them oh yeah you can hear him he thinks they're in this room you need terms of and I was like so Eastman or well this is obvious what this is cuz they're early in the movie she says you can hear them just like that right next year whatever with the most two thing and I thought I knew where the end of this movie was going and I hoped I knew what was going because it would be so much better than what happens I think but I need your hypothesis what's good at your hypothesis first how's this gonna hit here's what I thought was gonna happen so he gets in the road we can set up a little bit more first he gets in the room and I knew it was like okay they're going to be any other part of the thing and he hears them and he looks out and sees that they're out in the like the little second guest house area or whatever is like the guard garage or the other end of the tube is and he tells me he's like hey guys the things here shut the door then again this is the oldest rickety-ass there's no way shutting a door and a window keeps all that [ __ ] out of the B's this old [ __ ] creepy house but anyway so they showed up and they get inside and they're sitting there talking and what I thought was going to happen was that he was going to because there's been this whole thing with their relationship and there's been on the rocks the whole time and what I kind of hope that's going to happen because of the tube thing was that he was going to it was somehow like either the old lady would still be alive and break a window in his wing or something and so it was good to get in and his last act was going to like tell her how much he loved her blah blah blah and then he was going to save them by like plugging up the pipe and then he would die and then they would somehow live blah blah I don't who cares how they lived in some [ __ ] but like there would be like that moment I thought lower floor was going to die he was going to like kind of sacrifice not sacrifice himself but his last act was going to be saving them and then they would go on in with you what yeah something like that was kind of what I thought was gonna happen they spend the day talking yet and then and they're like you know what I don't want to die like this let's just go up die so they go outside and I'm like just even try to hold his breath and and they make the decision for a little girl get dragged away alright thank you um he doesn't even like I'm like together like you probably hold your breath the whole distance look I don't know that's how it works but it seems like that might be how it works and then the attempts over yes that's housands end and it just was over there's no so they didn't they did say and to be fair they just say earlier that it would probably peak and end around like 10 the next day or something like that like there was a guy on TV who's like according to this graph I made hospital in tomorrow morning look okay so it's just in and there's a great ad our line because they didn't make sure that we it was clear enough because they they just like hug and they're in the middle of the field and nothing happens and then it kind of cuts out of the shot and there's an ADR line of Mark going the event must've ended before we got out here if it was an indica hold whenever like you had to add that line and to make sure the audience knew what was going on here and then how long how much later is it I don't know I don't know if it says well that would be eight it's not a lot of time now a couple months or something and I was like I really wish started I really wish the epilogue of this movie was just them in therapy for PTSD after having lost two children because their [ __ ] heads blown off with a shotgun for 40 points there there there now the guardians of little girl oh god John Leguizamo's daughter she's going just the first day of school yeah so we touch smelled like here let me take this photo of your here's your very dead pair yes wait oh I'm just gonna put this right here okay take it with you and then there's a morning she gives the first and only line of hers in the movie Alma I love you so they're a [ __ ] news report comes on there like a you know and they're talking about the event so it can't be too much longer after and they're like well we don't it was just an ending literally and this is [ __ ] drove me insane the guy on the move and me the guy in the news literally says the exact line Mark Wahlberg said in the beginning of the movie this was an act of nature and we'll never fully understand it an act of nature and we'll never fully understand it like that you can't just write the same light a dialogue to make your after your character seems overly on hang on I think I think we just learned something the Majok kid dick it's like the smart answer in the whole movie any kind of perfect faith and well I just want this stick is [ __ ] it's really weird out like it's a weird thing this day of the future do it sure yeah so in the movie the movie oh and then they have to throw a whole progress soon oh yeah right we're just stupid okay which is it maybe this is on purpose but it's like they didn't [ __ ] learn anything so the whole premise is that the plants probably killed us because we're screaming or not probably the place kill because we're destroying the environment probably one of the reasons restoring environments from overpopulation right so what do they do things I have [ __ ] kids but you just got done to earth which is telling you stop doing that and your life happy ending for having a baby right right we just want support we didn't listen which is why I mean maybe that is the point because then another little extra scene after they're in Paris yeah and I was like into that part but they recognized ibex up into that Park compared and they're like walking around and then the wind blows and then people start walking backwards to be stuck this movie but it is it is good because bad this is a definitely good bed I mean I had three or four moments of just full girl look like out loud laughter at some of the lines though no in the what no and then [ __ ] there's just so many moments like that I'm just holy [ __ ] want my toes about those are the things that save this from becoming Prometheus yeah yeah and and it's not as obnoxious to me scientifically because it's mostly just push it work that in that the character motivations at least in this most of the motivations of the characters made sense like much more plug again if you want to hear my thoughts on prometheus well we've really hit like every episode overall vodka it in 2012 we did Prometheus providers of a slash transformers transformers 2 and transformers 4 but anyways all of those are the audio format of this show before there was video are available on our patreon just two bucks a month so I really funny that they almost all naturally came up like on the course of the conversation anyway um so yeah but it's good bad man it's a it's nonsense but it's great silly nonsense and it's just I can't believe they thought this was a scary movie they had to realize halfway through this is a comedy they had no what no all right that's because you it cuz I'm [ __ ] dying is he exhausted I'm sweating to death good to know watch this movie cherish it yeah amazing [ __ ] great it's like blood this is definitely two hours of life and I want to ask and now we're going to do it's nice and sure go because MSE it gives right into it yeah I was like I'll think about something our thirty perfect so said to recommend on its own it's only an hour and thirty minutes long it's good fun it's a good fun movie to sit around and laugh at and cuz any just sit around and do your Mark Wahlberg voiceover oh good what do I want to do with this Marky Mark in the overall scene in a movie together a listen from anaconda yeah great what no wow wow what oh yeah I said I'm merging I can't separate them in my head now but what well I don't know no wall and as that's a buddy cop movie we need Mark Wahlberg and loan and we'll send em in [ __ ] great year they probably have I don't know what I can't play some cold Patriots Day - it would be great anyway until next time keep watching One of my favorite theatre experiences. It was a surprisingly decent crowd for a weekday and everyone was into how bad it was. One of the decade's best comedies. ;)

Related to Shyamalan, I watched Unbreakable again a few days ago and it still holds up quite well. Along with Split, his two best films IMO. Can't wait for Glass.
