The Greatest Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Strategy...

ever since race to 30k started I have been at an extreme disadvantage and I will explain exactly what I mean by that and it is something that is no longer a disadvantage it is something that is going to make us even and for those of you who have not watch the previous 8 Deluxe videos all you have to know is that rat 120 AKA Rod is my rival on our race to 30,000 VR and quite the race it has been we have been slowly getting there Meandering our way to 30k playing periodically on the Nintendo streets hovering in the 26 range for quite some time we've both been kind of a little bit stuck and I think you know ever since Funky Kong came out meating Funky Kong might be hurting my win loss record against all these fellow competitors here like Iron Man right in front of me plenty of pro Japanese players behind me Funky Kong he's just not quite Yoshi what can I say but that doesn't mean that we're going to give up on Funky Kong in fact it is quite the opposite you guys are going to be mind blown because after this race I'm going to reveal everything I've been talking about in this video but let the suspense continue momentarily I'm I'm going to try to front run this this is a little [Music] risky almost died this is a bad room if I lose VR I'm going to lose a lot of it if I gain VR I'm going to gain very little that is what we're working with right now okay I think I'm okay I think I'm okay oh oh oh oh no match let me explain right now what I've been talking about because a lot of you are probably pretty confused in fact I don't really have to explain it I just have to show it look at this ladies and Gent gentlemen he is him this is a 1995 Funky Kong plushy thanks to volia sent it to me and old friend of mine sent me this plushy along with many others but I have to show you guys this one right now this right here is going to be the Difference Maker because as we know Rod brings out the plushies bang I mean I mean bang I mean bang I mean bang I mean you cannot compete you cannot compete with this man when things are not going well for him he brings out the plushies and then magically gets first place and then you know it's kind of like the Ace in the Hole he just brings it out when he needs it most so now I could just bring this plushy out whenever things are going badly and then my luck is going to shift around like that all right all right we're snaking we're snaking one M turbo two many turbos two many turbos good thing we pulled the mushroom though we would have been done the the acceleration on Funky Kong is definitely definitely one of the weakest parts of his game though the speed stat is nice must say I've tried using other combos with Funky Kong people recommended everything City Tripper pipe frame people obviously said the bitty buggy and there was one more the varint that's what it was I've got every single recommendation Under the Sun in the comments and I ignored all of them well not really I tried them all and not none of them felt nearly as good as the Mr scooty combo oh I'm done I'm done Mr scooty is the best there's no questioning it I just can't get an item right now keep going for the dou boxes keep playing too greedy but yeah like the beauty about Mr scooty is the hitbox like hit box is so important you can't get hit with Funky Kong oh I somehow got this item I got two bananas in fifth that doesn't make any sense is it cuz I was small so I was going slow over the box or something how how could I get two bananas in fifth and first is all the way up there we got to take down these people with 20,000 using the meta combos oh my gosh I already hit a wall all right let's see what we can do here I do feel like it's a whole different game not using the meta usually play a Mario Kart game use the best combo every single time but I'm only using Funky Kong on this game that's a that's a fact that's just how it had to be I just never expected Funky Kong to make it into the game I mean once he got announced in Mario Kart tour I knew there was a chance but I I still just really wasn't sure it was going to happen there's plenty of characters that didn't make it in and honestly I thought like there was a better chance of like Cranky Kong getting in there even Dixie Kong so it was too incredible I had to keep using Funky Kong I'm going to get blue shell maybe I can hit this car will this work oh that actually worked let's go for the snipe what can go wrong oh my gosh I almost scream myself I'm so terrified right now we're in a good spot right now we just have to really watch the main map a lot cuz at any moment there could be a blue shot this guy could be start you know you can start slowing down I'll be in a lot of trouble oh and we're getting there before the blue shell unbelievable I cannot believe I didn't hit the wall on the last corner or the car that was incredible Funky Kong what what how did you block my red and banana Me O okay wait wait wait wait wait Iron Man better not do me dirty right now oh he's do me dirty yep [Music] I am okay with fifth we got this we're going to pull something busted on the first set almost fell off got massively bumps I am getting such bad item roulette lag that I got a coin I got a coin in 10th are you kidding didn't I just say we're going to pull something busted this is what I get two coins in ninth are you kidding come on come on something good something good that sucks I can't do anything with this I can't do anything it can't get much worse than the last race where I pulled coins until the very end let's bring it back let's take down these Yoshis let's draft them into Oblivion let's get into first and stay in first till the end of time Funky Kong takeover Funky Kong meta Yoshi who I don't even know also I have more Mario Kart plushies to show off volv sent me like five other amazing Super Mario Kart plushies from 1992 one of the coolest gifts I've ever gotten undoubtedly I'm going to show them all off in a future video maybe even a a deluxe video especially cuz I have one of them being Yoshi and Yoshi is just the most common character in this game by far so it would be very fitting I'm going to get rid of the green so the coin is in first slot and then the boo will steal the coin and then I'll have a banana for protection of course that's this game in a nutshell I'm just going to hold these items and play really boring I love this track I need one more coin I'm really doing well right now last race was a disaster but other than that it's been a good session I'm going to try to break and see what happens oh my god it worked it worked oh he dodged it never mind it didn't work I'm going to I'm going to R him come on red come on are you kidding I have to hold this I can't throw it oh this is intense this is intense what does he have he has a coin I got to win R's really good should I go for him I'm doing it come on come on he didn't get out of time it's over first let's go I'm doing it every single time every single time chap chep Beach I missed the first like 5 Seconds of the race but no matter I feel like this is a bagging track bagging track if such thing exists in this game anymore Bonk one mushroom I really miss I I really miss the position based items every time I play this game I love getting like Oh I'm a 12th Place box I'm getting it first is right there star Bullet Bill combo good games pack your bags go home GG's peace the end yep that was that was not that was a very generous red shot I mean see people today are playing nice I have not been getting backs spammed which is actually incredible on Vancouver velocity I expected the Yoshi to throw everything back they did not and uh this Guy waits to R me until I'm on the glider ramp so I can speed back up again and I mean the people are just really courteous out here on the Nintendo streets late at night middle of the week I don't know what's gotten into these eight Deluxe people but they've had a change of heart last time I was playing this game last week whole different story people out for blood bathing in the blood of their enemies every single race that was the eight Deluxe way it's not like that anymore people are nice out I'm probably not going to get hit again in this video cuz people are racing so nice all right here we go I'm I'm going to lose a lot of VR unless I get a good spot here it's really close pack got to get [Music] serious just joined a brand new room many hours have passed since that fatal cheap cheap Beach race VR down in the dumps but it's a new room new session time to write some wrongs time to get my points back ooh Bowser B Dasher I thought my combo was difficult to play with that's a whole different level of insanity all right I'm in second okay let's try to get two items and two tricks might be able to get into first got to watch out for this banana seven coins no item going try to take over first now great and we missed the little ring but we did manage to release our turbo off the glider ramp hopefully I can get a little breakway now definitely not going to be easy this is a pretty high VR room much better than the room I was in [Music] earlier just got that out in time and there's another Red Shell nothing I can do about that one okay well he didn't read me again maybe he knew about my what are you kidding oh I'm in the middle now these triple greens are really terrifying oh go go go I'll take fifth completely fine I still can't believe there's a Bowser B Dasher monster Tire combo in here someone is repping the Mario Kart 7 meta on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe respect otherwise you know we see ink Striker we see the usual culprits the teddy buggy the bitty buggy I really like having a mushroom in first I do feel like I'm going to get reded any second it's always a little unnerving to have a mushroom in first like I just don't know what the right play is there's no way I don't get red yeah and then I use a mushroom and then in reality I guess I'm in first I should I should actually break here that guy has a red oh oh oh it connected with the green and he has another red just going to hold this going to play really safe I think that's the key with monkey kong got to play even safer than you would with the Yoshi you just really can't get hit it's super painful two more Reds oh this is kind of busted beautiful first place 10 coins extremely close pack by no means do I feel safe we're good for now just got to be really we of a red and here it is that was so close got to play smart hopefully no blue shell oh it's going to be very close this track always freaks me out you get hit once it's over the shortcut at the very end people pass you like a million people pass you at once got a really good setup here come on come on come on we're good we're good we're good yes oh I needed that so badly plus 25 we are pretty much back to where we started now let's go not one of my better tracks one thing I do know is you got to hop early there if you don't Hop Early you're in a lot of trouble it's pretty difficult to get that trick boost cuz you just like bounce over the trickle region I think I can get the inside box yes I don't know why first went outside might sneak attack see if it pays off okay second has a mushroom [Music] amazing just going to bring out the green early take inside Lane get coin eight [Applause] coins see I didn't do it correct that time and it showed Oh this is a major time loss with Funky Kong you just got to be thinking one step ahead so you don't mess up like that okay I don't think he's going to go wi here I think I'm good yeah I'm good missing mat tribles everywhere I'm just somehow in first this is a good room I don't know how I'm in first right now playing like this especially all right let's not mess this up I'm just going to hold these I really like these items I also have nine coins okay I don't know why that ramp doesn't give tricks a lot of the times let me know if you guys ever experienced that that ramp like really screws me over all right luck is on my side right now this is the most pitiful race of the session I haven't played worse today and I just got first and we have a little win streak going like I messed up and then because of it I didn't get blue shelled what a goof goofy game once again Mario Kart we track we are starting on the wide Lane I have the third highest VR in the room almost everyone is 20,000 plus though so it's a really good group competitively for me very similar skill level see if we can just break away and get another win I mean I'm probably going to pull a coin here and get [Music] rded it's just so tough to squeeze out these purples oh yes yes I spam like insanely I can't believe I got through the coin and actually managed to get to the bomb in time that could not have been better so relieved right now I get a three game win streak oh that would be golden oh I just can't get me turbos with funky if I had like a mini turbo Mis counter on the screen it would be in triple digits right now now seriously I'm missing like multiple every race coconut all I probably missed like four or five main turbos okay I got it a lot earlier than I did last lap there that was better I went for the super horn [Music] [Applause] nothing still in first unbelievable and 10 coins it is nice how you can pick up one of your coins whenever you get hit by something you'll be at seven then you get to [Music] eight and then you use a coin you're back to 10 just like that all right I have a little bit of a breakway second just got hit I just hope I don't get red you always pull a coin in this game I'm just waiting for it right now that was really good that was a first frame purple come on come on come on I'm so nervous [Applause] [Music] I hate this game plus zero that's fine if I was slightly slower and I hit the double box right before the Red Shell like crashed my banana and it spam my items and got another item I could have got first that race it's shows how like complicated things are and very very specific moments where you don't quite know what the right thing to do is until it's too late like right there like the red was on my radar I should have just went slower it would have been in a lot better spot there's just always a red shell in this game and I have to remember that sometimes I think I'm good and I'm really not the red shells are so fast that like you can be like like 5 ft from the finish line and you haven't won yet like you you really never feel safe in this game you should get a coin a third of the time not 90% of the time it might not be 90% but it really feels like it also I have the most busted items right now let's [Applause] go all right well I messed this up forgot how to play the game you're supposed to hold all right it doesn't matter doesn't matter okay not punish by my mistake always hold the coin whenever you have this super horn cuz the boo I'm just going to hold this it looks goofy but I think this is the play blue shells are just so punishing if you're on funky because the acceleration is just not there like you feel them twice as bad as Yoshi all right so far so good we are getting to 27k oh we're almost there 26 points in the eight player room unheard of this is awful I was just praying it wasn't this track this one of my worst tracks I feel like everything goes wrong for me on this one all right I'm really going for it all right now well I think it's time here we go here we [Applause] [Music] go oh I accidentally spam my star great great I'm just the worst at using the crazy8 good thing I have this mushroom it'd be over for me eighth oh no minus five oh no we're chilling okay wow this room is really good I want to hit 27k right here it has been eluding me for multiple videos here just been so close haven't hit it statement race right here also I need to get better at the Crazy Eights like I always do that I accidentally use the star just going to Chuck this wrong direction I need to get this SC this out I'm so I'm yeah y of course of course I was holding analog down and I let go of it like the same second that I clicked the button and the rest is history first place is so far up there I mean there has to be a blue shell right and if there's anything I've learned today when I'm making these dumb mistakes it's usually been paying off quite nicely for me I just didn't get the item Funky Kong can't turn like I'm literally going for left item I'm holding left for so long and it just takes forever to turn all right all right I can still get a decent spot this race still in it I got nothing I got nothing I somehow have 10 coins I don't understand that part I thought I got first I got third I will take it I mean once again I mean the room is super high VR but there's only eight people it keeps going from 8 to 12 to 8 to 12 I don't know what's going on yes run it back I do enjoy this one quite a bit I actually think it's like one of the better city tracks completely fine playing this twice in a session I could do it on this race it's a super serious Mario Kart 8 Deluxe video a lot of times I'm talking way more this video is been straight business that is what it has been oh so one thing with that shortcut I noticed is people always 1,000% of the time hit the wall use the mushroom tly you're going to hit the wall That's why what I did is I break drifted a slight amount just before I used my mushroom got a little bit better of an angle I really like my items right now this is so bad oh I could I did not know I did not even think that would oh my God oh my God my God all right shortcut time shortcut time yes yes I wonder if you could trick off of that where the umbrella is like the the bottom portion I'm going for it ooh okay okay we're back in it we're back in it second place box double box we're going for it I'm in first and we know second doesn't have a [Music] red I'm just going to go inside Lane here pray I don't get smart bounc I know there's a green ricocheting right now soccer field then we're home freak can't literally drift can't [Applause] turn go go go second plus 22 we did it we're not done we're going to continue I'm playing Amazing I've never played this well with Funky Kong in a room that has such high VR I'm not even playing perfectly but I noticed when I like fully Focus I'm playing a lot better I still can't believe I won Madrid and got second on it today should have got first if I just played a little better if I didn't miss that boost panel I was guaranteed to get it I just never think I'm going to fully figure out this handling but I think it's kind of the same thing with Bangkok Rush where people just like struggle on the track and that is why I do well on it I don't feel like I do anything particularly well in that track except for the shortcut the grass shortcut I feel like people don't have that figured out clearly but I'm just surprised whenever I play Madrid I'm just like wow it's like one of my best tracks for some reason I totally botch this but I think I'll be okay yeah we're good we're good amazing slight Breakaway Dry Bowser on Yoshi bike you got to love it like I'm not even mad I got second last race considering I lost to a Dry Bowser Yoshi bike I thought my combo was difficult to use takes it to a whole different level I always take lines I don't intend to nonoptimal lines I should say this this is a better shortcut this is going to be a lot better yeah yeah I'm not going to even go for the super horn I think it's just better to hold this in first slot play smart something I wasn't doing earlier there is a blue shell now oh I tried to do the strategy where you run into the banana oh I just pulled the banana while I had no item okay amazing amazing I almost hit my banana that was almost clutch not quite though I'm going to go for a double box maybe get a super horn I definitely think there could be another blue shell okay we got a coin which is great for first slot wow I'm going to go for double even though I'm small come on come on come on oh let's go and then every time you hit a boost panel you're good you're just chilling in this game you you boost so fast it's absurd all right we're getting first place uh the last Corner uh we will not talk about I just got lap four sniped but once again another first place with Funky Kong we are fighting off these Yoshis no problem what a session we had DK Mountain instead we are playing possibly the hardest track for Funky Kong maybe not quite but definitely in the conversation this track is very narrow super easy to get Ricochet smart bounce and Funky Kong is just not it for such a twisty difficult tight narrow course Dragon drift way just going to try to get out in front catching up is not going to be it it's just not going to happen and I'm off the edge I knew this would happen Okay I just like can't get last if I get last I'm going to literally go below 27 we're not ending the video below 27 it's not happening okay I'm somehow getting this box we take those we take those Haya it feels a lot better to pull a blue shell in this game than it does in Mario Kart Wii like at least I know I can use it in a way to surprise people directly in front of me and screw them up in Mario Kart Wii you get the blue shell you're just like wow I helped everyone else I have no chance of hitting anyone in front of me really it's a horrible feeling [Music] oh oh my gosh the pr the pr plant just ate 10 Fireballs saved my life multiple times that was the best pron plant of my life he was fishing backwards to get those Fireballs imagine if the pra like used the Fireballs like back at the people who chucked them at me like spit them back out backwards like that would be the coolest thing ever there's so many things they can do with the pra it's a really cool item it's just a little frustrating when you pull it and then the item you have that um is in Pocket is is just the one you want to be using that's always frustrating that's really unfortunate I just don't know how bad this is going to be there's going to be a lot of people passing me here I might get smart bounc there's nothing I can do I'm just praying right now just praying seventh place that's about the best I could have gotten that's completely this of course we have Mario Mario looks great Yoshi looks a little bit Sly he's a little scary looking oh oh yeah we can't really see Yoshi but uh you get the point saving the best for last we have Peach right here it kind of looks like Baby Peach maybe the inspiration from Baby Peach came from this exact plushy and this is my favorite one we have Bowser and he just has the smirk as smirk going on looks hilarious and uh his card is actually green even though it shows up black here but yeah I'll post a picture on Twitter of all these so cool thanks again to volvagia for this incredible
