Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
On one hand, yes, everyone is right. This GMC Hummer is a big, stupid rich boy's toy.
On the other hand, people weren't exactly going all-in on the Spark and Volt. GM has signaled for years it's getting serious about EV production. The Hummer says that they are actually serious. Stuff that was developed for this truck is going to wind up influencing research & design for its other cars and trucks.
The launch control is basically a theme park ride now. At least itβs appropriately named WTF.
Iβm sure it will feel like one of those magnetic launch roller coasters that shoot you out of the station like a rail gun. 0-60 in 3 seconds for this behemoth is absolutely insane.
Iβm just trying to figure out where the hell Doug is in this video. Some kind of warehouse/parking garage with Porsches, a C8, a GTR, an American flag, a giant Cadillac banner with...Korean?...on it...and a prototype Hummer.
EDIT: It kind of looks like it might be a staging area for a car show.
Anyone catch the millage on that prototype? 1992 miles.
In 1992, AM General began selling a civilian version of the M998 Humvee vehicle to the public under the brand name "Hummer"
I think it has all the Moon stuff on it because GM actually made the moon rover!
Doug, if you look under the floor mat (where you said itβs perfectly sized for Neal Armstrongβs boot), you can actually see the moon boot print where you rest your foot. Itβs pretty neat.
I'm interested in how will the Hummer compare to a Rivian or the Tesla Cybertruck (assuming it ever comes out, lol).
This and the C8 Corvette are the only halo cars GM produced in years, so they better not screw up.
There's references to the moon because GM designed the moon buggy along with Boeing.
I love this truck. If I could afford it, I'd buy it on day one.
The idea of silently manuevering over offroad terrain is pretty awesome. You'll be able to hear exactly how the tires are crunching over rocks on a trail. I have to imagine EVs will make for popular off-roaders once these trucks hit the market.
