oh come on guys you know what this is this is the Vision Pro from Apple and we're going to talk about my experiences with it and why I've enjoyed my experiences with this device so far this is definitely something different but similar and I have some thoughts and they're different from what I've heard a lot of other people say so I hope that you find them interesting so far the differences that I have found with this device basically comparing it to other VR devices CU that's what people are going to do they're going to compare this to the meta Quest 3 or the meta Pro the big deal with the Vision Pro is that it is AR first which means it is pass through first you are not immersed fully into a VR experience the moment that you put this on the first thing that happens is your screen becomes available and you can see right through and the pass through cameras are active that is not the case with pretty much any other VR headset that's out there so Apple designed this device to be kind of an extension of your reality not a placement of your reality of course there are fully immersive ways of using this device and I'll talk about that but it is AR first meaning it is an augmented reality type of device where you can put things up in your display but you can still see what's going on around you and that's why I really like this device let's jump into the good about this device first of all screen mirroring from your Mac is pretty awesome being able to screen mirror from my Mac and use this as an external display is great very often am I working from different places and so with this headset I am able to have a larger display which I'm not able to do if I just take my laptop with me I have my fixed 16-inch laptop screen which is relatively small with the headset on I can have what appears more like a 48 in screen which is pretty large but when you're editing video or photo or you're working on a website or browsing the web or trading stocks or doing pretty much anything that you might do on a computer having a bigger display is really nice now it's not as high resolution I had lengthy conversations with some friends about this who have apple displays I have the Apple Studio display I have friends with the Apple xdr display and you know they're asking about the quality of characters and whether they are fuzzy or not and all of that stuff from any angle any monitor is going to have issues and from any distance depending on the quality of your eyes you're going to have differences and issues there perhaps as well with the VR headset I found that it is very consistent in viewing my screens so when I'm working on something and especially if I'm maybe doing a little bit of graphic design or I'm editing photos and I really need to see the pixels a little bit better I'm able to see just fine with the Apple Vision Pro I don't have any issues of course yes I wish it was higher resolution maybe something more like the xdr display from Apple but that would just be insane to have that kind of resolution strapped to your face I think that Apple did a really good job at producing something that has a much higher resolution than what you would expect because all I can measure it up against is VR headsets that I've used in the past like The Meta Pro and The Meta 3 which are both great headsets but pale in comparison as far as image quality especially when it comes to screen mirroring watching video on this device is also great as well there's no official YouTube app yet but there is an app called Juno and that app allows you to view YouTube videos and it's a pretty great user experience and those videos look amazing if I bump the quality up to 4K I really feel like I have a nice 4K display really close to me everything is crisp and sharp and the motion everything looks good the display in this is high refresh and you could definitely tell when you're watching stuff that's moving faster also watching movies and stuff like that I did take this on an airplane and watched a movie and also replied to a few emails and stuff like that using a little keyboard and it was a relatively decent experience especially watching a movie on the VR headset in the airplane no longer do I have just the little screen or maybe I have to like look down because I have my iPad on the tray in front of me I have whatever screen size I want in front of me with a nice big movie playing my airpods and my ears a great listening experience and I have to say nothing beat that there is no travel experience that could beat that aside from just having better seats than I had because the display was great the audio quality was great it was very easy just to put this in travel mode so that none of the screens moved around while the airplane moved and connect to the airplane's Wi-Fi so that I could stream a movie because I didn't download anything beforehand it was just great you guys that was probably the icing on the cake was the quality of the video and being able to watch a nice large movie on an airplane Vision Pro also has its own supported apps Apple did generate an OS for this has its own OS just like there's iPad OS and iOS and Mac OS there is an OS for vision and Vision Pro runs apps and there's limited apps in the app store right now but the apps that are there are actually really cool yeah I was always impressed with a lot of the apps that were available on the meta Quest some of the things these developers doing is pretty cool and just a great experience of course that's all coming to the App Store on Vision Pro there is a limited amount of apps that are there more seem to be being added all the time but the experience is great and on top of that being able to use compatible iPhone and iPad apps also helps lessen that sting of not having all the apps that you would expect so as long as the developer decided that it was okay for you to use their apps on Vision Pro then the app will still show up in the App Store underneath the iPhone iPad Tab and you can download that app it will show up in a separate folder in your app library but then you can open up those apps and utilize them they tend to work really fine however some of the apps do have things that are kind of close together because they weren't designed with pinch motions and Gestures in mind and so sometimes you just really have to look at it specifically and wait for it to light up and then tap really quick but most apps actually have been a great experience I have several apps that I have downloaded that are iPad or iPhone apps and they work flawlessly on the Vision Pro the first thing that blew my mind when this headset turned on was the quality of the pass through cameras that to me is what makes a VR headset more usable is the pass through cameras now the quest 3 and I'll do a comparison in another video The Quest 3 has decent pass through cameras I have to say when I first got the quest 3 I was really impressed with the quality of the cameras over the quest Pro that was out before that but the Vision Pro just knocks them out of the park I mean not only are the quality of the camera is better but they are stable cameras which means there's no jitteriness there's no lagginess with the cameras on the Vision Pro as I put my hands out in front of me and rotate my hands around things are are in real time moving I am not noticing any like any lag any degradation in what I would normally see with my eyes if I decide with my Vision Pro on to go walk down some stairs I'm not going to worry about the video lagging behind just a little bit and then I accidentally miss a step or throw myself down the stairs with Vision Pro it is as real time as possible they did a great job on making sure that the pass through cameras are not only good quality but that they are very fast and responsive and I think that's super important if you're going to have pass through cameras at all you might as well put a little bit of horsepower into your device to make sure that those cameras are going to produce a good experience for the user and I feel like Quest 3 is almost there those cameras were definitely better but I certainly wouldn't trust wearing my quest 3 and going on too much of a walk because I'd probably end up hurting myself and on the quest Pro don't even think about it those are low quality and super laggy and I've I've definitely scared myself a few times trying to walk around the house in my quest Pro so what's the bad obviously there has to be some bad stuff about this device I have to say that the battery life is something that I'm not super stoked about I was used to the battery life that I would get on say the quest Pro or the quest 3 and on those devices even though on the quest 3 I have the external battery pack on here would get like three and a half hours of life out of this especially if I was in an app like immersed and I had I was screen sharing from my computer and I had multiple displays up and I was you know having conversations with people and really just I was fully immersed in VR I could get at least three hours of life out of that without having to plug in with the Vision Pro I'm lucky if I get an hour and a half it's usually closer to about an hour or maybe an hour and 15 minutes that I get and typically I'm using that with screen mirroring I've got a couple of apps up I'm listening to music and maybe responding to some text messages and so the device is definitely multitasking but I don't feel like I'm taxing it heavily the battery pack having to be connected and tethered is definitely a lackluster experience I don't like having to think about this the cord is always coiled weird and precariously placed on my desk and if I move or my arm gets kind of caught underneath it I'm afraid that I'm just going to yank this and it's going to go flying that's definitely not a great experience and I don't enjoy that what I'm really hoping somebody comes out with is it's some sort of a replacement head strap that the battery can go in the back of or perhaps a even replacement battery altogether that is fully encased like what I have on this device here this device here is evenly balanced as I put it on my head evenly balanced you can see maybe it's just a tiny bit heavier on the front end very nice balanced and it feels good I can wear this for a very long time without having having any fatigue on my face and with this device I can't do that without having this strap on it if I use the loop strap I'm lucky if I get maybe 30 minutes of use before my face is just done and my head hurts and even I I feel like my forehead which yes I know there's a lot of forehead but I my forehead feels tingly like maybe it's cut off blood circulation to some of the skin capillaries I don't know it just feels weird and I don't like it and it's not an experience that I want to have all the time but with this head strap at least it puts some of the weight on the top of your head so it's not pulling down on your face because without anything else the strap is pushing on the back of your head the unit itself is pushing down on the front of your face and it's just not comfortable so yes the beautiful Loop strap that they designed that I think really made the Vision Pro look good is not very functional or usable you have to go with this basic strap that definitely makes the Vision Pro less attractive but makes it easier for you to wear this device for longer periods of time you might have caught it while I was talking about it this device is heavy I mean let's do the same test boom it falls forward because there's no weight in the back at all and so this device is pretty heavy it is beautiful the construction is amazing yes beautiful aluminum I've seen all the tear Downs that was a lot of fun and yeah great looking device but it is heavy and it's heavy on the front of your face and so you're definitely going to need to use this strap thankfully it comes with a Vision Pro in the Box another bummer about where this device is right now is app support like I said before you can use iPad and iPhone apps on this device if Vision Pro apps are not supported yet by whatever app developer that develops the apps that you like to use but that experience sometimes leaves you wishing more there's a few apps that I have installed that said that they were available because I phone or iPad and I couldn't get logged in or something just wouldn't work and so the app ended up actually not not working on Vision Pro which is kind of a bummer so there's going to be a little bit of time before all of the apps that you might want to utilize are available on this device thankfully there are some good ones yes a lot of iPad and iPhone apps do work and then of course you can screen mirror from your computer to get access to all the other apps that you might be using that you can use through your computer but there are not a lot of apps that are supported and a lot of the apps that are available are apps that I I probably wouldn't be too interested in yeah there are some games there are some other things there are some utility apps that people have come up with that I think are pretty neat but they're not apps that I would be using on all of my other devices and so I haven't installed them or probably wouldn't install them I'm hoping that a lot of developers really jump on this and we get a more built out App Store with more options which will definitely make this device much more usable now obviously I wear glasses and so I needed to order the Zeiss inserts and so the Zeiss inserts are in here the process for putting these on was just super cool I mean they automatically adjust to do the prescription and everything that you need which was it was actually a pretty cool experience scanning and then putting them on and the adjustments or whatnot but there is a little bit of glare like when I'm looking through I can see like some like haloing or something like that it's kind of hard to explain I remember earlier days before I started buying glasses that were anti-glare you could get a little bit of glare on your glasses if light was hitting them from certain angles I haven't had to deal with that in a while because I have anti-glare but I of course I can see the outer rims of my glasses if I'm looking or if I'm trying to see something out on the edges that's definitely there and I can see it and I have experienced that on the Vision Pro with the Zeiss lenses I don't know if maybe the prescription lenses were a bit of an afterthought or it was the only way that they were going to be able to make this happen was to have a little bit of glare you're still going to be able to see a little bit of the outer edges I have to say I don't notice it all the time but I do notice it enough to want to mention it so if you do wear prescription glasses and you think that you're going to need the Zeiss inserts might be something to consider give it a try knowing that you can return your Zeiss lenses and maybe just forego using them Al together maybe you don't have a very strong prescription and you could get by without it I know that it is kind of possible to wear Vision Pro with your actual glasses it was a little hard for me I couldn't squeeze my glasses all the way in there but if you have smaller frame glasses maybe perhaps even a little bit smaller head than I do you might be able to get your glasses in there and just use your actual glasses instead of having to pay for the Zeiss inserts but I have to say overall I'm glad that they are made I'm glad that they're there because it's much more comfortable for me to take my glasses off and put the headset on already having the prescription compensation there but I have to say if they can move things back and forth like why can't they just make other adjustments that compensate for the prescription there should be some way of maybe being able to do that but uh maybe the tech isn't quite there yet or there isn't enough room to pull that off in the small size of this device cost is definitely a major one this device is so expensive and there's no way that you can upgrade anything on it so after the announcement and the launch of this I realized this is kind of like buying an iPhone or an iPad there's no way to expand the memory inside of this thing so you have to decide ahead of time how much memory am I going to need and when they talked about this having its own Vision OS its own operating system I thought I better have one with a bit of storage because if I want to do anything on this device like store a bunch of apps take photos and videos do different things with the device I'm going to need some storage now do I think that I needed a terabyte of storage I probably don't need a terabyte of storage and I probably won't use that much storage especially being that I can't take an SD card out of one of my cameras and plug it in to the side of Vision Pro and load a bunch of photos to edit and stuff in Vision Pro that would be amazing and I would absolutely love that but you can't do that however I do hope that there's some sort of expanded functionality in the future I know that when Sony comes out with an app that's compatible for this device I can sync photos from the camera to the headset wirelessly and then I could be editing them in Adobe Lightroom hopefully Adobe Lightroom will be available as a native app for Vision Pro soon I do have it installed as the iPad app and it is a fun experience to edit photos in Vision Pro doing pinching and moving things around it's great I absolutely love it and I think it's just as much fun and just as easy as editing photos on a computer but getting back to the expensive cost of this thing it is very expensive which definitely puts it quite Out Of Reach for pretty much anybody and the last bad thing which might be a good thing depending on your personality type you're going to get lots of questions this is the first Apple device in a very long time where people have literally waited to talk to me I was working at a co-working space with this on and I had people come up to me the moment that I took it off yes they were waiting to talk to me about it and then I had another person come up and talk to me about it the next day and I've just this is the first Apple device that I've had this experience and I used to love that about being an early adopter of tech now maybe I'm more introverted Than I Used to Be or something like that but people are going to come up and talk to you about it so be ready for that so why am I loving Apple Vision Pro well I have to say screen mirroring is my favorite feature on this device yes there are games yes there are apps yes there is the YouTubes and all that good stuff but screen mirroring is the best I love it because when I'm here in my office and I'm working on my computer I have my Apple Studio display which is a decent sized display wish it was bigger but it's a decent Siz display and it's a great display but if I want to go to the coffee shop if I want to go work at the co-working space if I want to go work anywhere else I'm not going to take that Apple Studio display with me I'm going to take my laptop which has a 16-inch display which is great I'm not going to lie fantastic display but I would love something bigger and this provides that a nice big display for me to work from with the ability to put some additional apps up and really multitask and have a nice workspace built out for being as productive as possible and apple Vision Pro allows me to do that if I had to have a studio display at each location I was going to be at such as one at home office one at the co-working space and then maybe uh a second portable display a smaller portable display to take with my laptop that's a pretty big expense to buy all of those things yes it still might be cheaper than a Vision Pro but the Vision Pro adds the utility of not being just a display but being able to have multiple apps and everything open while having the pass through not being fully pulled away from your environment which is definitely not the best experience when you're using something like a quest Pro or Quest 3 I love the fact that I could be immersed in the things that I'm working on but not submerged in VR completely there's a time and a place to be fully emerged or submerged in VR and that's great you're playing games you want to block everything out you're watching videos or something like that or you just want to check out from the world that's great but I like having pass through and being able to see what's going on around me especially when I'm at a coffee shop or a co-working space and there are people walking around and stuff like that it's nice to have some spatial awareness and be able to know what's going on around me and have that be the default for this device is pass through and utilizing it in that way where the experience on most other VR headsets is kind of janky and broken when it comes to pass through pass through is something that you turn on temporarily so that you can see something that's going on around you but then you go back into a fully immersed state which is typical for VR headsets Apple thought about things a little differently so why am I keeping this device well I have to say it's because of the productivity that I've experienced in the last several days that I've been working with this device yeah I've had it for a couple weeks but I had some travel I had some other things that were going on and I got to use it intermittently and had a great experience but over this last week I've really been able to wear it and get some work done longer term work several hours of work yesterday I was on this device for like five hours of course I was plugged into power but I was on it for 5 hours and I knocked out so much work and was in such a flow State I had a window up and I was working on stuff I had my music up I had text messaging up and I never had to like leave a screen to go to another screen which I think tends to break my productivity or break that flow at least and because I get distracted I might be looking at something else because I'm jumping between Windows and Stage manager on my Mac has definitely not made things any better as far as that having multiple displays would be the only solve for that but then like I said I'd be fixed to one location where I have multiple displays whereas with Vision Pro I've got my computer display I've got the apps I felt really dialed in this last week or so using Vision Pro second reason is just not having to purchase multiple displays at the co-working space I'm not going to buy displays to put there on my desk and and have multiple displays that I might use a couple times out of the week I have one display here that I really like in my home office I would like to have a couple more of them or I would least like to have a way to spread apps out and I just can't do that unless I stack more displays Vision Pro solves that problem I can easily go and buy some more displays I could probably buy three or four easily for the cost of this device really nice displays but then they'd be fixed to a location and after spending the time that I have with Vision Pro I'd rather have the Vision Pro and be portable and it's also great for viewing content relaxing watching some YouTube videos any of that good stuff it's an exciting experience and it's just fun to wear now I definitely don't have to have the extended battery on this device but because I like the extended battery for longer use periods I can't like I can't lean against my pill I can't lay in bed or something with this on the back of my head it's just not comfortable so I'd have to take this all off and put the other strap back on and that would just that would be annoying and I guess if there was some sort of extended strap or whatever that accepted the battery for Vision Pro I'd have to do the same thing here but Vision Pro it's very easy to remove the strap you just pop and pop this right off very easy on the quest 3 it's a little bit more of an involved process because the battery connects and you've got other things that you got to snap into place and then things don't fold down as nicely and fit in a little tiny pouch like they do with a Vision Pro so I have to say experience of viewing content on this device is another huge selling factor for me so what are my closing thoughts about Vision Pro and where Vision Pro is going I definitely believe that there are going to be cheaper versions of this apple released the pro version First they've been releasing pro versions of or Max versions of their other devices first such as the MacBook Pro M3 released before the other M3 models this device definitely is to set the high price and so the next available models that will come out will be a lower price they'll probably have things like lower uh resolution pass through cameras maybe it won't be made out of aluminum you know there will be a little features that are missing or something like that but it will definitely be a price that makes more sense for a device like this it will be cheaper and it will sound cheap because this one is definitely not a lot of people have asked me do you think this is a oneandone type of device for apple and I have to say apple is not that kind of company I mean just the other day they decided hey we've been working on electric vehicles for like a decade and we're not going to anymore they never released an electric vehicle that never saw the light of day and they actually never really said anything publicly I mean they haven't really said much publicly about electric vehicles but they just bowed out of that completely product never hit the market whereas this did hit the market and that means that they have a a lot planned for it probably several versions down the road lots of OS updates lots of apps and all of that good stuff for this platform and so I believe that Vision Pro is only getting started with whatever other Vision versions will be out in the near future I think it'll be the next thing that Apple really starts to push people towards and we'll start to see even more cool things that you can do with this platform now back in the day I actually had Google Glass with a little AR deal that showed little bits of information there I wanted that from Apple but instead apple and everybody else gave us SmartWatches and we spent about a decade or maybe longer with SmartWatches and that was what we got we didn't get a heads up display we got SmartWatches and even today I would love something like Google Glass where there was like maybe like a little apple watch screen that was up here and if I just look up in the corner it comes on and I see my my screen and I can see updates and I could respond to text messages and all that good stuff that's all I really want is just a little display up there so I don't have to look at my watch I could just look up in the corner of my glasses and boom it's there but uh we didn't get that and I don't know if we ever will get that what we got was The Vision Pro a fully immersed kind of experience where you can place things anywhere maybe not necessarily something that you're ever going to catch me walking down the road wearing but definitely something that I'm going to be taking with me as I go to different places and want to get stuff done and maybe even enjoy a movie or a show occasionally so what are your thoughts about Vision Pro I know a lot of people have been posting videos about it and talking about it why they're going to return it why they're going to keep it this that and the other thing let me know what your true thoughts are down in the comment section below love to hear them and if you're thinking about picking up one of these or maybe a few of the accessories that I've ordered not yet received definitely check out the links in the description below that's going to do it for this video hit that subscribe button because I've got more Apple Vision Pro content coming your way and you don't want to miss it we'll see you in the next one
