The Forge Of Frustration! | Baldur's Gate 3

now I've already sang My Praises a billion times about this game but obviously I'm going to keep talking about it because I just love Baldur's Gate that much Baldur's Gate 3 not only bolster is an amazing main story fighting the absolute mind flares everything you can think of it's there but it also has a wide range of side quests and World building I'm the type of person who loves that type of stuff whenever a game especially an RPG like this presents me with side quests that aren't just like fetch quests or I just go kill this many things I'm talking about story driven and heavy lore based side quests when a game presents me with side quests like that I want to do as many as I can and Baldur's Gate 3 is no stranger to well-written side quests what's great about these is obviously it's going to give you more rewards and more XP to help you on your main Journey it also allows you to learn more about the world you're in hence the World building one such side quest is the quest to find the forge of legend in the underdark called the adamantine Forge now this is a forge that you learn about when you first enter the underdark if you don't really know how we got here don't worry it's not that important although you can just check out the last video you basically learn about it when you were exploring the underdark you encounter like three random drows they're just in the underdark and they're searching for the adamantine Forge now this Quest is great but I have to say sometimes Baldur's Gate sometimes can be a little frustrating as in the game does not always it does sometimes it's pretty good at it but it doesn't always hold your hand on for example how to find the forge the most you get is bits and pieces from the drows you find of like it's around the Grim Forge and this is how you access it kind of we don't really know so it kind of leaves you to just go figure it out and let me tell you in my personal experience finding the forge was very very frustrating so after my party defeated near freed the Deep gnomes got them the safety the grimforge was cleared out of duraguard I knew the next thing to do was to find the adamantine Forge I spent in upwards of two hours searching every single inch of the Grim Forge top to bottom stuff I didn't even need to go do I went and did I searched every inch and then of course the last thing I searched was the path to the adamantine Forge what you're supposed to do is you're supposed to go up some stairs that are hidden by the way behind rubble go up some stairs go to a catwalk go across the catwalk as far as you can go and then somehow flip some levers on a completely different platform area in order to access the adamantine Forge these levers raise and move the platform across so after two hours of searching finally figuring out how to get into this Forge it was finally time for my party to go craft some very powerful weapons [Music] so after jumping into the forge there's a couple things you can do you could go straight to the forge there's nothing wrong with that at all but in order to use the forge you need a couple of things one is you need pieces of mithril or a very rare material in the underdark you only end up finding two so at the end of the day you're only going to be able to craft two pieces of equipment the next thing you need and these are scattered around the area of the forge you need molds molds as in like the stuff you pour your molten metal into to give the metal shape for example I find a mold of a long sword or mold of scale Mill or plate mail you find four there's a long sword a mace plate mail and scale Mill so basically you're gonna have to choose you can't make all four the last thing you need to do is you go into the forge throw the ore into the forge itself put the mold in the Forge and then you hammer The Ore down and that allows you to descend the forge [ __ ] it bro here we go Bang oh [ __ ] I didn't think this thing went down now there's one more step the last thing you need to do is pour lava inside the entire Forge to bind the metal to the mold but when you do that something [Music] pretty terrible happens oh [ __ ] I I turned the lava valve and I saw an enemy appear before the cutscene started oh [ __ ] [ __ ] I should have long rest dude foreign [Music] oh I should have long rested oh the Arena's full of lava yeah this is grim get it the Grim we're in the Grim Forge this is grim let me just say this is the second piece of frustration I had with this Quest this is a very fun fight do not get me wrong however this fight is very frustrating you've experienced this if you've played a lot of RPGs you do the fight the first time you probably lose okay no big deal just go back it again you could probably figure it out in one or two more tries it took me more than that but that's because it took me a second to figure out his gimmick let's take a look at Grim's stats real quick okay look Grim has resistance to basically all types of damage but that's not all he only has this effect when he's heated up from the lava or molten basically so basically you can only do any damage to him for three turns once those three turns are up he is immune to all damage and that presents an issue one that means you need to get him heated up with the lava again and that involves a little bit of trickery if he can if they're within range Grim will only target the person that hit him last which presents you with an opportunity to try and kite him around however if someone is out of his attack range he won't attack that person so it makes it a really hard game of trying to figure out how to get Grim exactly where you need him to be so basically in order to do any damage he needs to be heated up on top of that he does have one fatal weakness he is vulnerable to bludgeoning when he's heated up you may be asking what type of damage is bludgeoning is basically when you hit something with a hammer or a Warhammer or warp you get the idea hitting something really hard with like a club okay that's the type of damage we're talking about there are two ways to do this you can either have your party member use a weapon with bludgeoning but there's another gimmick in this Forge you remember when I pulled this lever and the big hammer in the middle slammed down in the middle of the forge [Music] you get where I'm going with this so enjoy this Montage of me bumbling my way through the first couple attempts at this fight oh nah well you can't start out you cannot start us off like that dude nothing else to do but attack it wildly oh we're gonna be here a while all right just gotta do that a billion times carlock's okay for now man I just wanted a cool weapon apparently I asked too much in life what were you asking for I'm fighting the [ __ ] big metal man in the forage right now ah so that's my bad this is not going great not gonna lie this guy is barely I just got on the 250 and he has 300 health all right live all right oh the lava's gone interesting wait is he resistant to lightning or does it just not affect him at all I love how it tells you that's really nice so you know how you put the lava there yeah well the lava was just all around him I didn't do that he's resistant to it like fully he's immune to it yes but let's go putting him lava make him lava and then okay well he he lava that's a little risky buddy oh wait I can do the lava I understand now I caused the lava awaken what does that mean just keep going car like he's taking no damage like actually none oh I mean what did he do oh I need to make him lava he was the way he was because lava I I understand don't die please don't get prone all right that'll work go far away do it again come toward Will what what is going on that is not toward Will I'm sorry I thought you were supposed to go towards Will prime target isn't that mean that she's supposed to be the one that they target you have drawn Grimm's ire Grim will attempt to attack this creature if possible oh I see if possible is the kicking yeah all right I gotta get in range of it then there we go and she's gonna prone and he's standing on top of the thing so I don't think the fire will affect him oh boy please tell me that hit him no what how did you how oh my my okay get away from the fire please Jesus Christ hope I really hope carlight survives the next encounter there we go oh he did not become lava he did not lava no he stepped in it though I bet he has to end his turn in it or something No it should just be him stepping in it well I tried you know okay he's lava now oh there we go there we go and will did not save D okay forget you can shoot levers to activate them too thank you for that actually like no joke will is barely alive ladies and gentlemen good life away hey I'm really debating it but I wanted to give it to carlak just so she could I'm trying to figure out how I would even do that I made a big [ __ ] wucky not a big [ __ ] oh it's not going good guys I hope I get out of this situation that'd be really cool disadvantage you suck no you didn't suck damn bro dude don't worry it took me a while uh well loving this corrosive strike tenacity moves to my skin by the balls of my dog let me load the game I hope that DEET gnome that knows like how to make that powder doesn't die when I waste all this time at this Forge I'm sure that's not how the game works but it'd be funny if like the game was like super time sensitive like that but all right everything in there Forge areas I'm throwing death from how many times I've clocked this hammer down for no reason I'm gonna put Gail in like the farthest Corner away from this thing dude stay over here Eddie's gonna like it actually we'll put shallow heart and Carlock together so she can heal him wait did I cheese it please tell me I cheesed it yes she said dude that she's the animation there's no one standing there yeah all right we've been over this all right I'm gonna Hunters Market there we go all right here we go I am very far away from this thing and I hit it let's go okay would this do damage lightning resistance lightning damage against the enemy is nullified okay so that's a no great glad I took that Thunder acid Forest works just use a bludgeoning damaged spell oh my bad clearly here we go just pop let's just get ready yeah big boom big boom just like how do I gimmick past all this resistance this is it it got really frustrating dude this wow I found the one fight so far that has turned me into how I feel at the table when an encounter takes too [ __ ] long exciting I'm experiencing so much today Eddie walk in the lava he's getting [ __ ] Anakin skywalkered right now [Laughter] I will uh I probably wouldn't he would just walk straight into it bro I'm just gonna have to restart the fight at this point unless the lava goes away in the turn God you [ __ ] dumb idiot man hit this and run away and you missed no how are you how wow good crit good job I think car like hit the spiritual weapon oh I'm losing this fight again Gail is dead Gil has burned to death in lava ladies and gentlemen oh my God this fight is [ __ ] impossible dude please tell me after you defeat him that you don't have to deal with nothing you don't have to do another fight right you just get to make [ __ ] yeah yeah it's just it's just one one Jim Jim after many many many attempts at me trying to defeat this Adam Warlock impersonator I had a very devious plan to say the least so you guys remember karlak karlak the Barbarian crazy strong probably my most offensive player she's very useful she's great she kills a lot of stuff now she can obviously use a Warhammer all right so here's my plan fairly devious plan okay so step one give her a bludgeoning weapon like a Warhammer step two give her a potion of Hill giant strength what this does is increases her strength ability score to 21. therefore she's gonna have a plus five or six to all of her attacks and the damage and then on top of all that you get your wizard Gale to cast enlarge on karlak and this will give her a fair amount of bonuses but the most important is advantage on strength checks do you see where I'm going with this essentially I've made carlak the bane of Grimm's existence she has bludgeoning damage boosted strength and the advantage to hit and oh man did it work carlock's about to [ __ ] ruin this guy's day holy [ __ ] oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah baby all right carlac get big oh yeah she's big yo she's large she's so big that's insane stay in contact go on this side make a big boy attack oh my God yeah this Hammer knocks knock stuff Pro and not on the crit and she did 52 damage oh my God um hello do it again okay that was still really good oh my God she's [ __ ] thrashing this thing dude whatever bro just go we gotta get all our action in dude she almost killed it oh she killed it good car lack I love you so much what the hell is this attackers can't land Critical Hits on the wearer it doesn't seem like that worked very well for him no one is proficient with heavy armor and it's making me really sad I wonder if I can make Shadow heart proficient in heavy armor I could I just have to mess with their thing what's what's the sword like I had a Mantine long sword okay if in the elementary weapon hits an object the hit is oh wait whoa what oh if it always hits an object it's a crit this weapon ignores resistances the slashing okay and it's a plus one sword I mean yeah that sounds great um [Music] would you like to see the stats that's when armor sounds sick I want it I don't even have anyone that can use heavy armor but I will make someone who can I will figure it out awesome now I just need the lava to go away oh boy that
