[Music] this is the stupidest thing i have seen all day i truly feel dumber having watched you do this well it tests log strength it's not folding on me it's not you know pulling away it's um it tests how you know the blade um go on does this task that people may one day need to do please continue shut up brookie welcome to another 15 minutes of your life to get through these videos i find it helps to put some music on in the background and also a tv show on and place the device playing the video face down on the coffee table it also tests ergonomics you know if this was really really uncomfortable i wouldn't have lasted this long doing it would i you are an evolutionary dead end do not pass on your jeans [Music] hello you may be wondering about the theme of today's video you might notice something about both of us your parents are first cousins and i hate being here it is that we're wearing our kubra hats because we are looking at an australian product well a company that is australian has these products made for it it's a global world isn't it it's the best way to look at it isn't it bricky you all smell the same when you catch fire so yeah hands across the oceans making enormous knives making knives are folding versions of other enormous knives this is of course the half breed blades large bush folder so the first thing we're going to have to get past is that this knife is giant let's look at it next to some other knives so this is it next to the buck 110 classic this is next to my spyderco spidey chef that's about as large as i like to carry an edc knife that's a trm atom similar size that's a good edc size this is my other large knife the police 4. i use this for work for bigger jobs and this is in thickness wise it next to the police 4 which is the same length but if you look how much fatter this guy is it truly does inspire ore and this is of course it next to its fixed blade cousin the large bush knife there you go and here's a picture i made of pete pooping his pants when his arm got bit off by a shark i also drew his nipples weird to embarrass him so as you can see it is massive now we've got a full tour to be done so let's go from the the back to the front let's go starting here we've got the glass breaker or as senpai lin would say a mercy deliverer and then you've got a set of um titanium handle scales held on with these t8 torx screws here if you're a lanyard hole here for a pretty decent set of paracord you could fit through there moving upwards you've got a divot in the handle you could use that to make a bow drill fire there is a greater chance of lynne thompson performing swan lake then of you completing a bow drill fire i'll give them that one and then we've got a large very large pivot with a t10 torx in it you've got on this side nothing but on this side this little i think it's just a piece of you know decoration a bit like the little uh hinderer blocks or something like that you know little thing that's just there for a bit of uh appearance because i've taken off the screw and that doesn't seem too much going under it apart from just this little nut here that sticks on there so there's that too uh the handle also features jimping here and jimping here and jumping here and a pocket clip here the pocket clip is a flat piece of titanium that has a little bit of snap to it that fits over my pocket quite nicely for a knife that weighs half a kilogram fits quite nicely in the pocket for a knife that weighs half a kilogram so there we are um the liner lock forms part of the handle i guess we're getting up there so this is a liner lock it's a huge beefy knife with a liner lock so the liner is thick it's a big liner look it's about as big a line look as you can get and it sits quite happily about you know a third of the way across i think that's how people like him to sit isn't it the knife sits on teflon washers i had to open it up to double check it was teflon because this guy opens really well for a knife on teflon washers which i'm not in the anti-teflon brigade certain other knife reviewers next your bears well yes nick is one of them aren't the biggest fans of teflon i am not a really big advocate of any knife pivot particularly as long as the knife opens well and is fine i'm okay with it and this knife opens well and is fine teflon is also a decent choice if you're making something a bit more outdoorsy which i guess this is where this knife sits in the outdoorsy knife market so that way it's not going to get full you don't have a very delicate bearing system to get it full of sand or in your case cheeto dust so i guess that's something anyway regardless of it the action is wonderful he says he can't open it up but yeah even opening it up the most you know hindered by gravity way it still does just fine snap so yeah moving on to the blade you've got these two stops here they're not thumb studs they are blade stops when you close the knife i guess you could use them i guess you know the flip is much nicer but they work as quasi thumb studs but mainly their blade stops stopping the blade from continuing to travel over and doing a 360 making some kind of perpetual motion machine which is definitely what would happen the flipper tab i didn't talk about that it doesn't have any jimping on it but it's big enough to be able to get your full thumb over or your full finger over without a worry as well anyway moving back on towards the blade it's thick 5.5 millimeters of fun just like pete and it is s35vn steel it's got a fuller or blad grove as people love when you call it online it has a hollow grind which is good we'll talk about that later and it drops down to like a clip style point just a flat drop here with a swedge making it for a decent poker piercer jabber annoyer of people who don't like being poked with knives so that's your full kitten caboodle to use an aussie saying it's a kitten caboodle that the knife comes with i know another aussie saying you're a complete wanker it also comes in a great box and with some stickers and a patch of a koala being angry and all that sort of stuff as well so does well does well in terms of its initial impressions has lots of features on it that i think you're after it's generally a very well presented knife and that moves over to the build quality so these guys here i've had probably five knives from either these guys or um hardcore hardware over the over years and they've always come very well finished like very well finished they're made in taiwan and taiwan is i mean if you look if the spydercos are anywhere to go by taiwan makes excellent has an excellent knife industry i'm sure they've got their various factories of different quality of course can you say whole country does something right or wrong a whole species on the other hand um but yes they seem to definitely have these guys dialed in they have a good oem making the water jetting and the bits and pieces for them because everything's tight everything lasts as well like nothing yeah every most knives really nice out the box but this one's been through the ringer now i've had a few really intense days with it using it for all different sorts of tasks stupid and otherwise mainly stupid though but um and it's held together really really well so but just in general when you first do get it everything's just nice lined up there's no burrs burnishes marks and the knife's very well centered uh everything is assembled really really well so happy with that too so yes moving on to more of the review part and i guess this is where i start yes 10 minutes and would be a great time to get on topic talking to you about things that might affect your purchase of this or not and to be honest if you like big knives this is a safe purchase if you like i mean really big nights i'm not even talking about if you like you know a large edc folder it's different to like the benchmade you know super freak this is still this is something else this is like a this is almost to me it's novelty sized but some people love this if you love your medfords this is definitely something you might want to look at absolutely remembering 500 grams as well so those two things are really going to be what makes or breaks this for you what it is though if you like what this is is very well done it's a very well done version of one of those a couple of small comments though i would suggest that this is a large knife for the enjoyment of carrying a large knife and you know the extra stuff that a big blade can get you in terms of being able to cut a bit more boldly and all that sort of stuff remembering it's a line of lock though if you're going to be doing something stupid like battening with the knife you may well want something with either a pin system or a triad lock system or something not that you should be battening with your knife but then again if it makes you happy to batten with your knives then you should do it you might break your knives but if it was happiness breaking then i didn't see a problem with it do you but anyway um so overall though that's kind of the best i can really steer you towards it's a really well assembled version of a large knife which you're going to find as a slight novelty maybe or you're going to be like yes at last another large knife i don't know that's where you the viewer is differing from me i guess the one thing is that that being a liner lock you may have a bit of mushrooming if you really overuse this so the inference you can sometimes make is oh giant knife use it like a sledgehammer and remember it's a folding knife to start with so you shouldn't really be using any folding knives like a slow chamber and then it's a knife to for a second and really even this large bush knife here you still wouldn't want to use this like you know i'm not going to hammer and nails with this thing you know so but that's the only thing sort of thing i'll concede is that a liner lock on it has probably made it not the most over usable knife but as a usable knife it's great let's talk about the blade because that's where the usable part comes in the blade is excellent it's really well done it is a hollow grind which mitigates a lot of this thickness so hollow grinding and having a good sharp edge which i've measured at about 18 degrees per side which is good to come from a factory at 18 per side i like that this does my vinyl tubing cut test really well now my vinyl tubing cut test is a way that i work out pretty quickly if a knife has good cutting geometries good edge good all that sort of stuff and it's if the knife can cut this vinyl tube then it's good because really that vinyl tube hates being cut it does everything it can to avoid being cut it's slightly gummy it's a round tube it's a little bit on the thick side you need a good bit of bite to get into that vinyl tube and this gets into that vinyl tube as well as most of the other knives i've had as well as the vinyl tube fits in your butt sure something like an open l something really thin and aggressive the spyderco chaparral the spyderco police 4 with my um you know k390 with my 17 degree nice tall ledger one probably goes through it a little bit better but for a knife that looks like this it cuts far better than you would think it would [Music] so and this is with the factory edge right so as a cutting blade and yeah no amount of democratic or diplomatic diplomatic hollow grinding is ever going to fully mitigate having a thick spine like this you know anything that you cut that has rigidity to it like an apple it's still going to crack apart once it gets over these shoulders here for sure but getting that cut started and cutting through most of the things you'll find yourself cutting this will do an absolutely great job it's big in its burly but it does cut not quite like a surgeon but like a much smaller knife so really really well done and that's probably the best part of the blade the best part of the knife is the blade um it's excellently done it's got enough robustness to it that you could put in perhaps you'd want to stick it into maybe here or so before you started prying or levering too much and then remembering it's a folding knife so you probably shouldn't do that but it's got the durability there you can see it in the blade it's a big durable blade um again remembering it's a line a lot you don't want to do too much but overall it's done really well ergonomically speaking it's a very basic kind of bones bone shaped handle um it's kind of like k bar becca shape sort of thing big sort of big belly here to wrap your fingers around when i choke back on it like this it's quite comfortable like to do your normal cutting absolutely reasonable to move down the blade like this onto doing some woodworking some shaving things like that it's comfortable it's absolutely fine to chop with yep these if you're wearing a glove will ensure the knife stays in your glove when you're not wearing a glove and you chop a two by four in a bench vise as we knife users often like to do especially the stupid ones it'll give you a little bit of a blister because it's rough jumping designed to keep a gloved hand in place so there we are so there's a large bush folder i think it does a fine job i can't see any real issues with it apart from that look at it that's that's the issue that's where you're going to decline it or enjoy it that's absolutely it it's it is so big like it's i think even if you're a big knife guy this is more for if you're a massive knife guy like a very big knife guy kevin cleary friend of mine he is a big knife guy i would love to know what his thoughts on a knife this size are i think maybe too big i don't know so it's for a crowd with a certain taste and i think that crowd can buy it pretty confidently because it's well put together and well done as long as they know the limitations of it being a liner look on titanium so the knife costs 500 that's a lot of money it's a lot of steel this is australian dollar so probably about 350 usd but it's a lot it's a large knife it's a lot of stuff in it but it's a big price so it's definitely a luxury item this was sent to me by half breed blades i did not pay for this knife so rather than seeing this as a absolute gold star review just see it as like a showcase i guess it's probably the healthiest way to look at it i never particularly get worried when they send me stuff because it is always made in this obviously the same place and made to the same standard after the first couple you're like oh yeah that'd be well put together they're often quite high character blades though so and that's generally makes it kind of an easy review or even just an easy commentary about it because i think once i say that it's well put together it really is up to the viewer to decide whether this at half a kilo with its giant blade huge thick spine big chunky boy handle is going to be for them so i hope this video has shown you enough information to make a choice it's definitely a luxury item at that price and you know luxury items are what they are some people pay an extra four thousand dollars to have a slightly different seat color on a car that they buy like it's it's just people and money it's it's totally fine but um it's definitely something to consider as well anyway thank you all very much and thank you to half breeds for the half breed blades for the for the knife it's fun to make films on new things it's about the only company that i do deal with in those terms uh mainly just because they're australian i feel like it's good to give you a fairly awesome bit of a show yet so just just see it as doing that if you've got any any major issues about it and if you're another company that's why i don't respond to your emails as well thanks goodbye everyone i think he is trying to balance his awkwardness at getting a free knife his desire to film a video about it and his ego wanting to still seem a professional knife reviewer even though he filmed a video two days ago where he was dressed as a giant penis
