God wanted us to love people and I wanted to love people and I wanted to be patient with people and I wanted to be merciful to people and and I I just couldn't seem to do it I do what I do because I've seen God's power transform my own life and he will do it for you the key to everything is found in God's word I'm Joyce Meyer and I believe that God can heal you everywhere you hurt what is your attitude toward yourself H do you like yourself well we heard we had a few people there but you know you know I spent a lot of years not liking myself probably even in some ways dealing with some self-hatred certainly some self-rejection because a lot of what happened to me when I was growing up I thought somehow or another was my fault and so first let me start by saying if if somebody has mistreated you devalued you abused you criticized you judged you done something that has left you wounded their ignorance is not your [Applause] fault don't hate them don't be mad at them because if you do that that will just continue giving them power over your life the thing you want to do is just realize the source Shake It Off say sleep on and go on with your life amen and to be honest I tried for so long to love people after I became a Christian and started really studying the word of God I knew the I I heard a lot of messages about loving people and I could see that from the word that God wanted us to love people and and I wanted to love people and I wanted to be patient with people and I wanted to be merciful to people and and I I just couldn't seem to do it and it got so frustrating to me because I felt like my heart was right I wanted to do the right thing but I just couldn't seem to pull it off and God began many years ago revealing to me that the reason why I couldn't love other people was because I didn't love myself I couldn't be merciful to other people because I didn't know how to receive God's mercy for me I was hard on myself and if you're hard on yourself you're going to be hard on everybody else too come on now and um so one of the things that I've learned over these 42 years that I've had the rare privilege of teaching God's word is that you can't give away what you don't have so you might as well stop trying to give something to other people that you don't have yourself and see God equips us he provides us with everything that we need to get out in the world and do everything that he wants us to do you've got what it [Applause] takes but if you don't know it then no matter what you have if you don't know it it won't do you any good and if it's not doing you any good then it can't get through you to do somebody else any good and I know many of you have probably heard me teach this I don't care if you've heard it a thousand times if the devil can get you to not like yourself he has already won the battle in your life what is your attitude toward yourself what is your relationship with with yourself how do you think and feel about yourself how much time do you spend thinking about everything that's wrong with you and what you can't and what you don't and what you didn't and what you should have compared to or do you ever even purposely sit and think about what your gifts are and what your strengths are see would kind of think well it just might not be good to just sit around and think how good I am well I'm not talking about how good you are in yourself I'm talking about thinking about what God has done for you and what he's invested in you and what he's given to you and the more you celebrate the good things the smaller the bad things are going to become and I'm going to tell you something the more you focus on what's wrong with you the bigger it's going to get I said The more you focus on what's wrong with you the bigger it's going to get and the less likely you are to ever get rid of it we're going to say that to this side of the room the more you focus on what's wrong with you the less likely you are to ever get rid of it and the bigger it's going to get in your life and if you think you're a mess now you just keep focusing on what a mess you are and just see how much worse you are this time next year than you are right [Applause] now two of the most important relationships that you have is number one your relationship with God number two your relationship with yourself if you have your relationship with God right and your relationship with you right you are not going to have any trouble with any body else that doesn't mean people won't be challenging for you sometimes or maybe a little bit difficult to handle but you might as well stop trying to get along with everybody else out there if you can't get along with yourself and I think a lot of people to be honest don't like themselves they don't even know that's a root of their problem I didn't realize until God taught me that that that was why I couldn't really love anybody else I didn't love myself and I'm not talking about being being in love with yourself I'm talking about loving yourself in a balanced way your attitude toward yourself affects your relationship with everybody else and although we are taught in the word of God not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to We are never taught not ever taught to have a low demeaning opinion of ourselves matter of fact I'll tell you I think it's ungodly to do that we should learn to see ourselves in Christ to see ourselves the way our heavenly father sees us in Christ if we stay rooted and grounded in Christ John 15 says if you abide in me and my word abides in you you will bear much fruit you know why if you stay in Christ if you abide in him what the root has and Jesus is called the root will come up through the vine and into the branches you will become more and more like Jesus the more you focus on what he's done in you then you do what is wrong with you I want to encourage you to think about the strengths God has given you not in a prideful way but we need to see ourselves the way our heavenly father sees us in Jesus you see Joy share there is more right with us then there is wrong with us and that's encouraging so it really helps to keep yourself focused on the way God sees you so let's all start applying biblical principles and practical steps to overcome discouragement and to help we want to offer you step by Place full of people who were really struggling yet there was this incredible peace there it's located on the border of the United States and Mexico in Tijana and many people were there because they had fleed from danger from across Mexico and other parts of the world them and their families were in Desperate situations but I think as you watch this you'll not only see how together we are making a difference in those lives but you'll see how God can work in your own life in circumstances that maybe you never imagined he could help with and you can do more yourself to help other people than have been through tremendous trauma but their courage and their tenacity and their hope in difficult times is nothing short of encouraging this is a place where many many migrants are fleeing violence all the problems this is not a political issue this is about a huge influx of people who now have nothing but the clothes on their back they don't have fresh water they don't have food for their here doing just that today they have three good meals they have clean water and they are getting Medical Care and their stories will Amaze [Music] you is in kma in kma there are drug cartels we have a food business and they wanted our money when we said no they started sending pictures of our 4-year-old daughter saying they were going to kill us and take her for themselves my daughter used to love painting going to school and playing with her friends but now she's very sad and it's hard to get her to eat but at least we are safe now here in this place [Music] I am a single mom and I have five kids I had to leave three of them at home with my parents because of the threats it's so difficult that I can't be with my other children I pray every night that God helps me make a home somewhere and I can be with all my children [Music] again were you afraid for your life all the time if I if they weren't happy with what you were doing what would happen well it was awful because they took me everywhere they they went one time when the leader um his um best friend got shot in the head and I went and he told me help him and I was like I can't do anything and he pulled out his gun but he was mad and I thought I was going to die that day but I'm here now [Music] so [Music] my wife and I didn't know how we were going to do what God called us to do but God has taught me to have faith that he will provide for us right now we have about 1,500 people from all over the world that have a place to sleep and are being fed but there's a lot of people outside just waiting for their turn to get [Music] in when I first met Pastor Gustavo there was basically no nobody helping him he was working three jobs jobs his wife working two jobs just so they could feed just trying to meet the needs meet the needs you know feeding one meal a day if they could as much as they could Rice and Beans really simple um and put a put a put a roof over their heads give them a place to sleep and I knew this is way bigger this is way more than bethyl Global Response can do the only way to to to actually help is to have this collaborative approach where the body of Christ comes in its fullness and so water Mission Mercy cheest coming in helping with the with the food Beth glob resp response Hand of Hope you guys were the first ones to really say yes we're going to Champion that and pour resources into it time effort and thousands of families literally thousands of families have come through here and encounter Jesus it's transforming their lives it's transforming their family's lives these little kids are encountering hope for the first time um you can't put a price on that we can't we can't Kaye walk us through just quickly what people will receive when they come they first go and get triage and uh from there they will go on to the doctors and we have some pediatricians we have a chiropractor we have nurses two dentists which is amazing cuz they're doing fillings cleanings wow a a girl came through yesterday and she was just in the worst pain and we were able to extract the te clean it up get her started on antibiotics and so many different things we have psychiatrist here um which I would think with the trauma that people are coming here with that would be hugely beneficial very beneficial and what you're seeing right behind us the prayer area the prayer area is a huge part of that oh my goodness yesterday we had 30 salvations and among that we had four people who walked out of here healed in different ways wow we can't necessarily change someone's whole life but we can meet an immediate need and we can share the love of God and the gospel and it's huge so it's been it's been wonderful and the people are so [Music] thankful you know there is nothing better in this world nothing that warms your heart more than putting a smile on a child space than helping people when God opens the door for you to do so so don't sit back thinking that you can't accomplish forgotten them it instills a lot of peace and a lot of Hope and the stories will just break your heart yes I mean what what people will sacrifice for their love of their families I myself didn't have like a good concept of what was actually happening on the ground it wasn't until I was I came here started visiting every month sat with the people started actually hearing their stories the oneon-one the testimonies of the pain the suffering of them leaving their place being in this being here on a trajectory somewhere else like just looking for peace and hope so this is this isn't a political statement by any means this is being able to reach out your hand to help your brother to help your sister when they're in time of need and so that's what we want to do we just want to help um families in need [Music] yeah what did it feel like for you to have to leave everything behind and flee for your lives very sad we lost everything you don't think something like this is going to happen to you and then it do I thought they were going to kill me it puts a lot of pressure on you as the father and the leader of [Music] we thank you that you have brought them here let talk about the importance of clean water yes before there was clean Safe Water available here here we were told there were a lot of sick children is that accurate yes there was a lot of sick children before uh they put in the water filtration system through water Mission yeah yeah they were able to get the 10,000 gallons of water filtration in here to be able to just drink some clean water to wash your clothes to bathe in that so yes there was a lot more sickness here prior to the water filtration system [Music] m [Music] Pastor that is working in here he told us that they didn't have any good water source so people used to drink water from the pipe and and that water isn't safe that water brings bacteria virus and parasites so they get sick very often they had many children who got sick and so we collect the water it goes through these filters and then when the water is clean it is sent to this big tank that is over here and this tank fits another H neighborhood that is over there probably 300 people that lives in the other neighborhood this system works and and sends clean water to everyone yeah and this is of course a passion for you for water Mission and you're making a difference all around and it's wonderful for us at Joyce mayor Ministries hand of hope to be able to connect with you and do this together so that we can serve even more people what I know is that it's been great to be together and and the impact we are having together is is so so bigger it means so much to us at hand of hope to be able to partner with people like you with water Mission with all these different these people are passing through my country through my city then that's an opportunity for them to encounter Jesus while they pass through here and we as the larger body of Christ really just get to come around and wrap our arms around him and kind of that Aaron and Moses kind of moment of I can't do what Pastor Gustavo does but I can hold his arms up just for a little bit longer for him to
