FB Marketplace find - zero dollars. My friend Richard is going to help me with this restoration. Tease it gently. Do you know what this flake is? Majority votes were for shellac on my Instagram poll. If you have an idea, let me know in the comments! Resistance is futile. Now it's time for sanding. I'm using 150 grit. I'm stripping the legs instead of sanding. To be honest, I should have stripped everywhere else too. The thought of stripping didn't even cross my mind before.. Products used are linked in the description :) 15 minutes later Paint thinner for wiping off any excess residue. This needs a repair. Two part wood epoxy for repairs. I make sure to fill it in thoroughly. The veneer on the top is also damaged. 24 hours later I also like to slightly round out the edges of veneer. Rough veneer edges could catch onto something and chip. Now let's stain it. Get stain in "Kona." Diluting with mineral spirits to lighten the tone. Sponges cut out from seat cushions. Wood epoxy from earlier needs to be masked. (don't worry I'll wipe this) Water based stains are great for camouflaging. (some Kona stain) The hardware from this door also needs my attention. A quick stripper bath. Last step: seal. And we are done.
