The Fastest Woman with an Ulu

I'm a fastest woman with a new loo and it's kind of cool to say that when it comes to cutting things when we're out fishing we can get hundreds and hundreds of fish at a time and they need to be processed right away and so that's where the competition came in so they could find the most skilled women with the loo and those are all the most desirable and every year at the world Eskimo Union Olympics they have a competition called fish cutting and that's where each each competitor gets a full fish and at the sign of go they cut in fillet the fish as fast as they can with the slits and everything just like you're going to hang it up in a traditional in a traditional way and so I've been competing in that for just about ten years now and for the last four years has been winning and I just dropped the record last year twenty nine point nine seconds and I mentally prepare myself for a competition like that and and it's a different mindset when I'm at home and I'm preparing the fish I have a different purpose it's you know I know that it's going to be feeding families I know that it's going to be prepared for the winter and so I take more time and and more precision in my cuts ready there's a deeper reason why I do these things and and it's all about identity and who we are as unique people and I want to make sure that I am a positive role model for the younger generation and just for anybody in general to inspire and so I hope through the actions that I do through demonstrations like this that I that I do inspire and then I do motivate people or at least have people have a better understanding of what it means to be in a subsistence lifestyle and what the famine means to us so I did this women foot with my time 35 oh that's okay even with a cheated one with the king salmon we usually get red salmon a [Music]
