okay time to figure out what's on this thing inscription isn't just any strategy or card game it's a masterpiece that focuses heavily on using your wits in order to survive whilst engaging you in a well-crafted story containing law tension character relationships horror and ARG elements I'll just go ahead and start because you've probably heard about this game at some point and are either interested in how the main story unfolds or how some of the Easter eggs all come together to create an additional element of Interest this is the entire law of inscription the game at the main menu already piques our interests ignore this Red Skull as this appears after you beat in the game but the new game option isn't available for us at the moment only allowing us to use the continue function someone's been here before and has played this game we sit at a table where a pair of eyes begin to slowly open almost as if Awakening from a slumber he informs us that it has been ages since he has previously played with a challenger and we are effectively given a rundown of how everything works to keep it brief we start off with a deck of cards which always includes a scroll the scroll can be sacrificed for any card that requires blood the number of sacrifices that must be made depends on the number of blood drops players keep attacking their opponent until they collect enough gold teeth to tip the skills on the opponent's side there are some other things such as sigils which give the card their power but you observe how the game works throughout the video and should anything unfamiliar or new appear I will elaborate upon sacrificing the Stout you will see it open its eyes and talk before disappearing we know from sacrificing the other cards that not all of them are sentient so why the stone specifically we proceed through the forest where we can choose another creature to join us the thing across from us is surprisingly well rehearsed in communication and story building I choose the cat to join us and further on WE encounter a backpack allowing us to choose items for later use in battle this will be crucial to our Escape at some point during the next game the Stout is angry at us for sacrificing him whilst he was asleep he tells you to play along for now and we are introduced to a few new Mechanics for one you can encounter environmental blocks such as tree stumps which will prevent cards from being put there you are also introduced to these weird Stones which will allow you to sacrifice a card and use its sigil on another totem battles are more difficult fights where the beasts of the associated totem head is given the sigil from the bottom during this fight the Stout marks the figure across from us to which it seems he's able to overhear what's going on or at the very least suspect that we're communicating after the fight is over I encounter the campfire a campfire surrounded by a hungry survivors who offered to make our creatures stronger the stoat tells us that there is a way to escape the cabin but the figure across from us is not having any of it anyway just as I'm about to win with the wolf on the right with about three points left this happens foreign Ty helpless and vulnerable as I watch on and lose here we actually get to explore the cabin when the creature tells us to fetch a Candlestick from atop a barrel if we want any chance of escaping let's note down all the things we can currently see a hammer and a staff appear to be stuck to the wall a clock with three hands can be turned a painting of the table we sat on with nothing there a safe figurines from the campfire a locked door with a flashing Bright Lights a locked cabin a few other decorations and the Candlestick which we are asked to bring back I try interacting with all of them and it appears there isn't much else I can do the figure explains to us the life system telling us that we can only make two mistakes we progress and it is here where we fight the prospector we are told by the Stout that the mule is key the fight is just a bit difficult as the Mew attempts to avoid our attacks but defeating it results in lots of cards coming into our possession after beating the prospector once he would then turn all cards on the outside of the board into gold a bit challenging but I'm easily able to defeat him here's the first boss after all and as a reward we are able to choose another card to keep with us we enter the wetlands and it's here where I'm fortunate enough to have put an infinite sacrifice sigil on the wolf cup the stoat appears less enthusiastic with each upgrade as the game progresses almost as if he is losing hope in his Escape it's clear he might know more about the figure swimming across from us than we do we arrive at the Trapper where he will allow us to buy pelts with all the teeth we have collected we then later meet up with the trader who is willing to exchange our pouts for newer cards based on their quality we managed to reach the end where we go up against the angler he's able to steal one of our cards using his hook what thinking this fight would be easy and trying to quickly defeat him results in him summoning eight Grizzlies immune to air sigils I use everything I have but it doesn't matter what I do since he makes quick work of me after he grabs us we proceed to slowly wake up the creature stands across from us outside the cabin and informs us he would like a Memento what he calls a death card he asks us to choose the card's Cuts stats and sigils from our deck he takes a photo of us before we are presumably placed into the card itself foreign [Music] we wake up across from him once more where he introduces us to Bones whenever a card of ours dies we will attain bones which can be used for sudden creatures upon placing these two carts something happens what I didn't know is the painting in the cabin will sometimes have specific card placements you can put down allowing you to unlock an item within if you replicate them I had a knowingly out of pure luck got in the correct combination the creature has forgotten our figurine allowing us to explore the rest of the cabin once more we can look at the rule book which gives us the code 273 looking through the items I see an item called failure it apparently has no use in the game so it's a mystery at the moment as to why it's even there in the first place using the code from the book I open up the safe end find another sentient card this time a stink bug talks to us and she appears to be much friendlier than the Stout she initially refers to the Stout with a p before correcting herself she also refers to the stunted woof which is likely another card that could help us later on using the key from the safe we unlock the cabinet to find several puzzles where the go those who play a miniature version of the game and earn five teeth we can also take the item from the painting a clover that will allow us to re-choose any of the cards presented to us if we want different ones we make quick work of the puzzles before getting a skink and a worker and queen ant we can use the sigils from the cards we get to help us solve the next puzzle giving us the card of the cage wolf perhaps a defensive card although its price is quite expensive for having no attack stats the price of sacrifices means there's something else about it that could be important we can also attain a squirrel's head but currently we don't know what it does the start and stink bug communicate with each other when we return stink bug informs the Stout that there is another friend of theirs who could help us Escape much to the Stout's annoyance the stoat says we are in deep this time implying that this situation has happened before do do the thing across from us also gives us permission to stand so even if he is a cheater he is generous enough to allow us some Freedom we can later find the death card we made of ourselves it's at this point that I allow the cage wolf to be defeated causing an effect on screen as well as causing a wolf to release into our deck the creature will also give us the option to accept his surrender if he predicts he is about to lose the cage surrounding the wooden wolf is now broken allowing us to solve a puzzle and attain a special dagger the Stout informs us of a third card and states he is the only one with a plan thank you we are then offered a rare card after defeating the prospector once more I decide to go with the uraboris who will permanently gain one extra damage and one extra heart each time we sacrifice it another new encounter involves the trials where we pick the stats of a card we want to use and out of the three random cards chosen from our deck those cards must match or exceed the number of the trial I choose the trial of power requiring the three cards chosen to have full damage or above I make quick work of the angler where afterwards we soon reach the snow lines we approach another encounter where a sacrifice will result in the permanent death of a creature but will grant us a bone at the start of each fight during a very tough fight I see that I'm losing and so using the dagger I take my eye out and put us on the scale a very uncomfortable encounter especially with the visuals and sound but it is quite effective I also upgraded my aura Boris to 5 damage and health the creature across from us offers a placement eye which I gladly accept deciding to choose the strangest option also a funny detail if you show up to the trader without a pelt she becomes very pissed during our next encounter we find the Trapper his fight is a bit tricky as attacking his leaping frogs will turn them into leaping traps attacking a leaping trap results in our card turning into a pelt as expected by the time I take out his first life he immediately kills us purposefully cheating because we beat him too quickly it's during our next death scene where we try to capture the creature by using his camera but it doesn't contain any film we get our photo taken before I make another awesome card and we are forced to start again this time with more determination to escape I decide to try everything we are given a fishing hook which will allow us the same ability as angler of stealing an opponent's card weirdly enough the stink bug and the Stout both seem to change shape into something else each time we die there's a new encounter where we can choose an animal tribe to join us we also encounter the wood cover who if we meet twice will grant us the totem ability we previously saw choosing the sigil at the bottom and choosing who the sigil is assigned to from the top I managed to get the totem use on my scroll as a result of the squirrel head I attained from the previous puzzles we returned to the prospector and this time I'm ready to take him down getting the mule at the beginning of the round is incredibly easy before he turns all my cards into gold I make sure to leave a space open allowing me to place down a card I have also got an incredibly powerful totem which will give all my squirrels a three blood value we meet up with an entirely new character called the Mycologist a fascinating character who appears to be two people stuck together they apparently shunned from most of society and you're about to find out why whenever you collect a new card mushrooms will sometimes appear telling you if you have another copy of that card this will allow the mycologists to combine the cards and make a more powerful creature I win the next battle in one turn with my new woof once again I find the angler I quickly defeat him within the first round and in the second round he creates bait buckets attacking these will summon sharks panicking and about to lose I use the dagger I win the round in choose a card but I'm then presented a case full of eyes although this time a single shiny eyeball stands out against the rest the music becomes darker after replacing my eye foreign I look around and inspect the clock where a code is revealed opening it the stunted wolf does not even introduce itself it immediately sees its chance of escape and asks you to take the film role he appears to have one eye taken out probably the Magic Eye which you ended up using on yourself we are then shown two new items the scissors and this weird bottle the butter looks more interesting and so against the figure's wishes I decide to take it the stunted wolf and the Stout took before the wolf claims to have a plane of resetting hey Rick we try to use the bottle to which the creature places it on a shelf and prevents us from using it the stink bug is also excited that our plane is taking place we finally fight the Trapper again using the stunted woof I get rid of all the traps ahead of me the trader then makes her appearance where we are required to trade our wolf pelts for one of her cards the remaining cards will then fight us I go with the Moose buck and make incredibly poor decisions before dying once more the only difference from me starting the round is the fact that we look at the film role in our hand we can also find other Death Cards of previously Fallen players in my next match I move forward and manage to get an extra Candlestick after copying the positions of the paintings we can talk to the green bottle who only screams in agony during this playthrough I also pick up a card with binary code translating to deep beneath a very ominous phrase talking to the bottle he recognizes our Strange I an ass of magnificus can see so that's probably what the stunted woof is named he goes on about how the end is near and I return to the table the binary card turns into a completely random card and doesn't really help me at the moment I finally make my way over to the Trapper boss fight the fight's leading up to this point are increasingly difficult and if we're not for my extra candle I would have already died the Mothman after fully evolving grants me really powerful stats which I used to finish the first phase of the bus my math main saves me and I'm able to win the second phase in one turn finally the end the entire map is covered in a purple Hue and we're given one last stopping point I decide to refill my backpack and we move towards the cabin we are offered Boons giving us a major advantage in a battle if we manage to pass the trial after passing this second trial I choose to draw twice at the beginning of my turn we then see the creature in all its Glory we prepare for an intense battle he first uses the prospector to my cards into gold so I have to ensure I place down the weakest cards first for defense choosing the angler he then threatens my newest car he then summons powerful cards for us to fight using the Trader's ability which we managed to get for ourselves we then see cards of previous players one of which is named Casey after taking out his two lives the creature looks towards the moon and takes a picture he's going to use the moon itself as our final opponent [Music] foreign [Music] being swiftly destroyed by my most powerful cards he asks us to finish the game that's when we hear a voice of what can be assumed to be a player who in his excitement drops his camera oh my it's here where we encounter a really unique part of the game after beating the creature we have shown several video lugs the first of which shows a person attempting to set up a camera a content creator Luke Carter who goes by the name the lucky card sits in front of us as he opens several card packs before receiving a phone call he has four packs of the card game inscription in the next video which he got at a garage sale he opens a pack containing a blue Mage which we never actually see within the First Act of the game the second pack he picks up has been opened much to his annoyance it receives coordinates on one of the cards which is pretty close to where he lives he then goes out to the woods to find the location of the card he brings a shovel and a headlamp but for a brief moment he looks down to see a card and what seems to be a device for looking at the coordinates of his location small details that have something to do with the ARG aspects of the game the camera runs out of battery so the next video is just a bunch of static Luke then discovers a floppy disk with the title inscription on it he mentions the Steamboat Willie card while shopping for a floppy diss reader briefly indicating to us the connection of the hex with inscription in the same universe due to the character itself appearing in the previous game he sets up inscription and Frames his camera into place implying that he has been the one playing the game since the very beginning the creature across from us tells us that we do not need to be polite and can happily dig into whatever god-awful monstrosity labeled as a gift is in front of us he asks us to stand before we take the camera and quickly place the film inside taking a photo of him before he can grab the camera from us foreign of the creature before finally seeing the source of the flashing light by the door the option to choose a new game alongside several corpses of the previous players grabbing it everything turns dark and we can't really do anything else aside from returning to the menu we can use the new game option we've received and use it at the menu introducing us to an entirely different and new game of inscription I've also neglected to mention the creature sitting across from us is called leshi a detail immediately told to US during the beginning of act 2. Luke Carter has an actual YouTube channel I told myself I wouldn't Focus too much on the inscription ARG but this looks pretty cool the first video titled corrupt.mp4 looks like a later segment of the game the description reads it corrupts all of us and shows the eyes of the bone Lord video titled the beginning shows a slushy reciting a poem for us before we see a strange version of the game in a low polyvin version the channel contains so many other elements of interest and one of the videos even shows a secret area for the second act regardless we will continue investigating Act 2 which notably has a few more secrets relating to the story Secrets which in due time are actually crucial to unlocking some of the other secret Encounters in act 3. I hope you stay tuned for next week where I'll tell you the story about the full scribes a group of familiar faces who helped contribute to the creation of carts each with a distinct personality play style and of course desire
