[Music] what's up everybody on youtube-land today I have a jeep wrangler unlimited sahara the problem is a death wobble if you've ever had a death wobble I feel bad for you it's terrifying it's frightening you feel like you're gonna die which I guess is why they call it a death wobble so this is a 2014 Jeep Wrangler 21,000 miles no reason it should be having a death wobble but we're gonna find out why so I'm in a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 22,000 miles but we've had a death walk which is absolutely terrifying if you've ever had death wobble I feel bad for you because it is scary as f alright 65 70 miles an hour going down the road if you hit a pothole if you hit a bump all of a sudden the wheel starts shaking one way than the other that faster and faster and faster and you can't stop it you can't stop it to you to come to a complete stop it is absolutely terrifying so I'm going to show you today how we can fix the death walk but before I actually show you what to fix let me show you what a death wobble actually is so we're driving 65 miles an hour if I hit a bump if I hit a bump and my steering wheel goes one way it jerks all the front-end components the other direction so all of a sudden instead of complan it overcompensates from one side of the other and then you start to get this out of your steering wheel and you cannot stop it even hitting the brakes will not stop it till you come pull off the side of the road and come to a complete stop there is absolutely nothing else you can do about it besides slowly coming to a complete stop and pulling over on the side of the highway I hope you're not in the passing lane when this happens to you because you're in deep trouble so I'm going to show you real quick what the outside looks like this is very dramatized but it's pretty much on point of what's going to happen so here's a stolen clip of what it actually looks like from the outside a couple things that could cause it first of all it has a two and a half inch lift kit that really shouldn't affect it too much the sway bar the ball joints here and here anything goes out of anything that goes out of whack well if you have one loose ball joint it sends you hit a bump it sends this way and then this sends it this way and everything starts loosening and shaking it's scary as hell and I feel bad for you if it ever happens so today we're gonna dig into this and see what's going on you can see this ball joint right here I have a little bit of play I'll grab a pry bar in here either play there and then the other place that we found is up here this boot is torn there's no grease in there so just from the start I know at least those two can be replaced we're gonna pull apart all the ball joints and all the front-end components and really check everything out and see what else we find loose but even if the problem is just here once it's all thrown out of whack from a death wobble it sends it shooting over this side loosens components on that side so you really want to check everything out to make sure everything stays don't just replace one ball joint check them all while you're already up in the air going through it all so now that we have everything apart you can kind of see the play in everything that's tight that's it that's our new ball move ball joint first as you can see how loose everything is gonna get in here too now when you have loose components like this you hit a bump on the highway it's gonna jerk it to one side loosen components on that side and just goes back and forth and literally the whole front end goes from one end to the other and that's the death wobble you're feeling so rather than just replacing one ball joint we're gonna do them all with new move ball joints the other thing that we noticed too is with a lip kit the sway bar links these are the original sway bar links extended sway bar links didn't come with the lift kit itself they really should have been extended to put this sway bar in place a little bit higher up as it's pulling it down to make connection between the original sway bars and then even in here your sway bar bushings have worn from pulling it down more so even though it looks okay here it's worn here so you're getting a lot of play in all the components so that's why I'm not just replacing one replacing all of them with upgraded ball joints and tie rods and components to to make everything stiffer once again and get rid of that hopefully this video was helpful helping identify a death wall will to explain what it is how it happens and how scary it actually could be in this video is it all helpful do me a favor and give me a thumbs up down below so other people get to see this video also don't forget to subscribe if you're at all into cars jeeps
