I did this with a bumblebee once and I have no idea how it worked.

Also, question for entomologists:

Bee's of multiple varieties always just land on me and hang out. When I was younger there was this one rose bush where bees would swarm and sting kids who walk by on their way home from school. I was dared to walk up to it and reach my arm in on my way to school. Pretty sure these were wasps. Anyway, they flew around me and then just landed on me. 2 stayed on me the entire school day. From my friends witnessing this and the BCPR my friends called me the bee whisperer.

So my question; Can bees like me because of some scent I give off or do they have a way of reading body language/intent and know I'm nothing to harm?

Insects fascinate the hell out of me. I'd love to learn more.

A prairie dog is a type of ground squirrel. I wonder if the term prairie dog is regional?

That looks a lot more like a gopher, but there are 35 types of them so it's not easy to determine.

People often mistake these burrowing ground critters for tree critters. I'm no /u/Unidan but growing up around a lot of these, this is my understanding.

Examples:

• Gopher - not a (pocket gopher a la Caddyshack)
• Prairie dog - they look similar, but prairie dogs are rabbit-sized, much larger!
• Squirrel - big poofy tail
• Chipmunk - small, striped, love nuts.
