The Coraline Door Theory

most of us are familiar with the theory that Coraline may have never escaped the other world now this theory is primarily backed up by the cat disappearing in the garden at the end of the film The Cat Vanishing was something he was able to do only in the other world and never did before she entered the door and in the garden when panning out it looks like the other mother's face now while I love to unpack these two things I want to just focus on the door Coraline stumbles upon the door while exploring the house after her parents practically told her to leave them alone Coraline's main goal given by her dad was to count all the doors and windows and write them down and list everything that was blue while Corine was focused on this goal writing down the one boring blue boy she placed her Coraline doll on the table after she finishes writing her doll vanishes and she finds it somehow behind a box the Box directly in front of the door now later in the movie we find out that this doll was actually being controlled by beldam this meaning bam used Coraline being distracted to lure her straight to the door Coraline's curiosity leads her begging her mom to open the door unfortunately just revealing a brick wall however that night some mice wake Coraline up and bring her back to the door which is now a vibrant tunnel of purple and blue that transports her into what she believes is a perfect reality now Corine enters this tunnel from her reality a total of four times but only leaves from the door twice which doesn't add up if she entered the tunnel four times she would have to also leave through the tunnel four times as well the first time Coraline enters the door door she goes to bed and wakes up back in her supposed reality instead of going back through the door most people don't think much of this but it's not until Coraline and the cat take a walk in the other world till you realize the capabilities and Powers beldam really possesses after Corine gets the offer for beldam to sew buttons in her eyes she tries to escape by first going to bed like the other times the thing is this time when she wakes up she is still in the other world how is it that she can't return to her reality simply by sleeping this time this shows that it's up to Bell d to send her back to her reality leaving us with only two explanations either beldam would move her all the way back through the tunnel back home mids sleep which would be extremely risky because of the fact her parents could spot her or what some people think beldam ordered the rats to bring Coraline back home the other explanation would be that beldam altered her surroundings into her supposed reality when she woke up I personally think the second explanation makes more sense since if she was moved all the way through a tunnel how could she be in the exact same position waking up anyways she tries to escapee by leaving the house and runs off unfortunately she reaches a void of nothing but whiteness which the cat refers to as the empty part of the world this means that everything Corine is seeing is just a simulation it's not real whatsoever beldam has complete control of what Coraline sees so it wouldn't be out of the question that beldam could easily replicate Coraline's reality something interesting I thought of as well which might correlate to the theories that the cat is evil is when they are walking through the empty part the house and everything renders back in Coraline confused on how they are back looks to the cat for an answer to which he responds walk around the world now the best way I can explain this is with a globe pretty much the top point is point a where the house is and the bottom point is point B where the empty part is now when they walk they're going around the world which eventually lands them back at Point a but this makes absolutely no sense to me at all if you walked around the world you would end up at the back of the house not the front so here's what I think truthfully happened bam thought Coraline was going to bed so she lowered her guard of keeping an eye out on Coraline because of this she allowed Coraline to see the empty place because beldam didn't think she had to render that part in because well Corine is just sleeping upstairs no biggie now once beldam becomes aware Corine is wandering outside she Alters her reality once again changing the course of the entire world she changes the reality so the house is right dead center in front of her Coraline didn't move anywhere because in a world completely controlled by beldam there really is no point a in point B There is whatever bam wants wherever bam wants anyways though Coraline goes back into the house and ends up finally escaping back through the door for the first time but knowing this door could just be another part of the simulation it's hard to know if she really did go back especially since she wandered away from the original House Point a which would mean the house she leaves in this time is entirely fake including the door and is not the house with the door she first entered in okay look I know I'm reaching okay how could everything after the first time be all just a simulation well we learned that belam enjoys a good game and needs to win Coraline's approval Bam could have just eaten Coraline the first time she met her but that's not fun for B Dam also according to many theories B Dam feeds on kids souls to continue existing if you needed something to continue existing and possess the power of Bel Dam to create complete realities you wouldn't take any precautions of Corine's reality getting better in her not coming back she needs to win the approval of Coraline so she can take her eyes which are supposedly the windows of the Soul soul and taking them allows beldam to consume her Essence now beldam being able to control the quote unquote real world would allow her to ensure that this world was as awful as it was before and doesn't change so Coraline will crave the other world belm is creating for her the way I can back this up is because when Coraline was unaware of the horror of Bel Dam her normal reality seemed completely normal but it's not until after Coraline realized that she's a spider and escapes that some really weird stuff starts happening in this reality belam knows she needs to get carine back but she can't have her knowing that she's controlling this reality she still needs those eyes so belam shows Coraline her parents trapped in a mirror which is something that doesn't just happen in real life It's Supernatural It's Magic it's just not something that is realistic beldam is smart and knows that by doing this she can create a new deal I'll release your parents if you give me your eyes she also gets a triangular Supernatural ring from her neighbor that is the only and Main tool in helping Coraline find the lost child's eyes also when qualine gets back for the last time her parents are extremely off and have snow dripping off them when there is definitely no snow outside I feel like bam set this entire thing up to have the perfect game and by the perfect game I mean a perfect bet of getting her eyes everything and I mean everything lines up for the game find the kid's eyes and your parents before the time runs out perfectly her original plan didn't work and belum had to create an entirely new game that ends with Corine's eyes being carved out it's hard to figure out why B Dam needs permission from her prey to take their souls many people people speculate that belam loves her prey and wants to love back before consuming her prey and some like me speculate she just likes a good game which would make sense since she has to be extremely lonely just waiting for her next victim others link beldam to Pennywise who when getting someone to love him makes his meal tastier besides her motives I think beldam isn't a sore loser she gave Coraline the tools to have a fighting chance and any person who is obsessed with the good game wants a challenge winning with no challenge has never been fun Coraline in all honesty should have not been able to defeat Bel Dam I mean a supernatural spider creature against a little kid it shouldn't even be possible for Coraline but it was and possibly Coraline gave belam the game of her life instead of the other kids who were easy this allowed bam to go to peace and accept her defeat giving Coraline her dream reality her parents got their book published everyone's happy she has all these new friends her parents aren't pushing her aside and I don't know I don't know maybe I'm just overthinking
