I use linux as my daily driver computer, and I've also used eDEX-UI as well. It's not the worst terminal out there, the only problem is that that's just what it is: a terminal. This would be such a cool concept if it was something like a Desktop Environment, but since it's pretty much just a terminal, there's not much you can do outside of text-based programs.

I'd been following this for years and didn't realized that it was done so thanks for posting. He's done a Mac app that I downloaded. One click and it's up and running as above. What away to run Vim. I'm seriously stoked here!!!!

[Music] [Music] hey everybody welcome back to linux for everyone welcome home and welcome in to the living hacker fantasy you probably had in the late 90s and early 2000s this is a little app called edex ui now if you've seen tron legacy then you know exactly what the developer get squared was going for even if he does claim it might or might not be a joke taken too seriously that still doesn't change the fact that it's awesome edex ui it's not exactly new but it's new to me so it might be new to you anyway just like bashtop click that thing in the top corner of your screen to check it out i love and appreciate a novelty terminal emulator that also happens to look stunning futuristic and is perfectly usable what do you need to know about this here are the highlights it's cross-platform so it's available for linux mac os and windows it doubles as a real-time system and network monitor there are a ton of slick themes to activate and a wiki that can help talented developers and tweakers customize it beyond what's included there by default it also supports touch screen displays so yeah that keyboard is more than just a prop those sound effects though give me those and the ambient audio from the starship enterprise and i would be in productive hacker heaven edex ui is super simple to install on all operating systems just look for the respective app image exe or dmg files for your os on the projects releases page and uh if you haven't experienced the ultimate nerdy version of star wars yet this is the perfect place to do it now i'm speeding this way up in the video but you can actually watch the entire ascii version of star wars in a terminal by making sure that telnet is installed so if you're on something like an ubuntu distribution that would be sudo apt install telnet and then just enter telnet towel dot blink and lights dot nl into a terminal and you too can enjoy this delightful little masterpiece if you know about any awesome software for linux that you think the linux for everyone team needs to know about so that we can share it with everybody else put it on our radar by leaving a comment thanks a bunch for taking a few minutes out of your day to check out this video my name's jason on behalf of the entire team here at linux for everyone you guys take care and take care of each other bye [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
