with the latest rail jack update you can now hire mpc crew to help you in your rail jack missions and even have them make brief appearances in other missions too in some cases these crew can be more helpful than random players in a public mission so how does this all work i'm nick engineer let's solve a practical problem [Music] in this video i'll cover where you get crew from what their stats mean how to set them up how they work in the mission and then some extra information you should know about them there are two types of crew which affect how you actually acquire them syndicate crewmates are hired from ticker in fortuna while lich crewmates are available once the lich is converted but not vanquished when you get to ticker half a dozen crew can be chosen from any one time they each represent one of the six main syndicates though not all of them will always be represented the syndicate affects the physical appearance of the crewmate as well as how much it costs to hire them otherwise the syndicate has no other effect each crewmate then has five skill stats that's piloting which gives plus five percent speed per level gunnery which is minus 10 turret heat gain and 15 turret accuracy per level there's repair which is plus 10 repair efficiency and 2 self-heal per level there's combat for plus 40 damage versus borders per level and endurance plus 300 health and plus 100 shield per level of these the most valuable is gunnery followed by repair combat endurance and lastly piloting nbc crew make for amazing gunners and repairers with an npc crewmate set to repair your ship cannot be destroyed unless the crewmate is incapacitated by borders otherwise they'll never run out of revelate for repairing as for gunnery they are very solid as shooting down fighters and will ravage cruise ships and ramsay's too the bonus then to their heat gain and accuracy is a very well placed if you do get boarded which you should be avoiding in the first place having nbc crew able to survive the fight is good news that said it's not a significant priority having done quite a number of missions solo with just one npc crew said the defending only once did i find i had to revive them otherwise borders either did not get in in the first place due to the gunners or they did not survive with this in mind a little bit of an upgrade to both combat and endurance can help out but isn't necessary as with piloting npc crew are pretty bad at it they will fly around but they don't do much special and are terrible when it comes to lining up shots for the artillery gunner add on to this the actual skill only improves their speed rather than any mechanics of their actual navigation and then the back speed increase is only 25 given how limited skill points are for npc crew putting it into piloting is a complete waste of your time all crewmates come with some slightly randomized health values this total variation isn't much to be concerned with though but it is something to be aware of if you're looking to absolutely mim-max for your own personal reasons when it comes to the crew's actual effectiveness you won't really notice much of a difference with your selected crewmates you can then head on over to the crew panel on your rail jack console found in the dojo or relay dry docks here you can select up to three crewmates to man the rail jack with you at present you could choose to select a converted lich for crew instead of a syndicate crewmate and they would bring their own kuva weapon no appearance options and a substantially higher hit point total all this in exchange for being locked to the defense role i understand that dee are taking feedback on board at the moment about these limitations as right now a litch crewmate is just worse than a syndicate one but unless until this changes don't select a ledge you don't need someone on permanent guard duty so now you've got your selected crewmates you need to take a few extra steps to make sure they're ready to go up into space with you first you need to assign them a role this is the default role they'll start in each mission but it can be changed on the fly using the tactical menu at zero cost i recommend having two npcs set to gunners and one to repairing as your default as i mentioned earlier crew suck at piloting so don't assign anyone there do be aware that if an npc crewmate is assigned to gunnery they will not give up the gunnery seat unless they are assigned to a new role however if the npc crew is in piloting simply trying to take the helm from them will allow you to go straight into flying the ship as they'll immediately get out with their role assigned next you want to set them up with a weapon you can assign most primary weapons or secondary weapons to npc crewmates but there are some restrictions such as no bows so you won't be able to assign them the coup for brammer this weapon will use the same mod loadout as you would and you can assign the appropriate loadout using upgrade if you have multiple options for that weapon no two npc crew can use the same weapon but a crewmate can use the same weapon that you're using with no impact whatsoever next you can choose one of your npc crew to be on call once you've unlocked this ability you can have a crew mate join you in any non-rail jack mission they'll stick around for three minutes and then leave with the 10 minute total cooldown including the three minutes they are with you once again this on-call crewmate will use the same weapon that you've assigned to them and with the same mod loadout you assigned as well and after all of that your last thing you need to do is to make them look snazzy i'm not a fashionista myself so i just slap on some colours and some cyodarnas but for those of you with an eye for it you should absolutely make use of this add attachments scientos change colors just like you would with your warframe with everyone selected and all dressed up you can head on into a mission and your crew will dutifully assist in the roles you've assigned them to as soon as you start the rail jack mission your npc crew will head to their assigned posts gunners will take up gunnery positions the pilot if you've some reason assigned one will get onto the helm whilst repairers and defenders will wander around the ship should a hazard or border appear the respective crew member will head over to act on the issue and quite effectively too if at any point you want to reassign a crewmate temporarily open up the tactical menu with the l key by default on pc and select the crewmates role then telling them which role they should work on next the crewmate will retain this role until either you return to the dry dock or until you assign them a new role there are a few other miscellaneous aspects you need to be aware about with npc crews as well if you have any players join into your mission npc crew will be instantly removed from the squad starting with the third slot that's the crewmates on the right hand side of the crew screen followed by the second and then finally the first if you fill up the squad with players similarly if a player disconnects or reports from the mission they are instantly replaced by your npc crew starting with the first slot then second and then third for this reason i advise putting your repair main crew in slot one you're gonna main in slot two and you're gonna slash defender hybrid in slot three npc gunners do not use battle mods tactical mods or ordnance they will only fire the side or front guns on a similar note no crew will use forward artillery or the forge so those jobs are exclusively for players when an npc prepares the ship it will take a short time so don't freak out just because the critical hall breach timer gets for 30 seconds just make sure you don't rely on a downed crewmate to fix things all crew when they're assigned to one roll will completely ignore other ones this means for example gunners and repairers will not care about borders and lastly i want to point out is this is a very new release npc crew have hit the game with no public testing so de might be changing significant parts of this we don't even have the rank 10 command intrinsic yet which could be anything i'll pin a comment on the video here if anything significant changes and if i have
