Free Shuttle Bus from Haneda airport to Tokyo is available now. First let’s look at the regular way from Haneda airport to Tokyo. There are three terminals at Haneda airport. Most of the international flights arrive at terminal 3. If you want to go to Shinjuku from Haneda airport, there are several options. If you take airport limousine, you can reach Shinjuku direct. Although they use the word, “limousine”, it’s not a limousine at all but an ordinary airport bus. It cost 1,400 yen from October 2023. If you take monorail, you need to transfer to J R line at Hamamatsucho station. Total price is 710 yen. If you take Keikyu line, you need to transfer to J R line at Shinagawa station. Total price is 510 yen. If you take fixed fare taxi, it cost 8,300 yen plus toll road fee. If you are group of three and divide the fare equally, it will be about 3,000 yen per one person. So far, the most inexpensive way is taking Keikyu line. Please note that Keikyu line uses the ordinary train. That is there is no special storage place for large luggage. You are supposed to hold your suitcase in front of you. Monorail has limited number of storage place. But after changing trains at Hamamatsucho station, you need to take J R line which has no storage place. Airport limousine bus has large luggage room. You can check in up to two suitcases. If you have two suitcases, airport limousine bus could be a choice. Total price of monorail and Keikyu line is 200 yen difference. One idea is taking Keikyu line on the way to Tokyo and taking Monorail on the way back to airport. Here is the detail of free shuttle bus. Free shuttle bus has started running from July 2023. It runs between Haneda airport and Ariake, Tokyo. Right next to terminal 3 at Haneda airport, a shopping mall called “Haneda Airport Garden” has opened in 2023. In Ariake, there is another shopping mall called “Ariake Garden”. These two shopping malls are run by same company. So they have started running free shuttle bus connecting their two shopping malls. In both shopping malls, there are shops, restaurants, hotel and spa. In other places, it is common that you need to use their facilities to ride their free shuttle bus. What is notable about this place is you do not have to stay at their hotel nor use their spa to take their free shuttle bus. You do not need to eat at their restaurant nor buy anything at their shops neither. Anybody can take advantage of their free bus service. So if you want to ride, you do not need to show receipt nor anything. What you need to do is just show up to the bus station and ride. No reservation is needed. It occupies first come first served basis. When I rode, there were only two other passengers. It may be because this bus is not widely known yet. The bus I rode was similar to the regular airport bus. It has storage place. You can use free Wi-Fi. I was surprised to find that it also has washroom. Pre-recorded announcement is made in English as well. But when I rode, volume was small and hard to understand. Please make sure to fasten your seat belt. Seat is comfortable. To use free Wi-Fi, you need to register with your e-mail or SNS account. It has USB port to charge your smart phone. This bus has ventilation system so air will be replaced in 5 minutes even if windows are all closed. On their schedule, it says it takes 40 minutes from Haneda airport to Ariake. It departed right on the time and it arrived about several minutes late. It depends on the traffic. Overall, this free shuttle bus is very satisfactory. This bus does not go to Shinjuku but go to Ariake. Not everybody can take advantage of this free service. So where in Tokyo Ariake locates? It is in east Tokyo. This is Haneda airport. This is Shinjuku. This is Hamamatsucho. This is Shinagawa. And this is Ariake. Ariake is next to Odaiba and Toyosu. There is “Villa Fontaine Grand Tokyo Ariake” Hotel in Ariake Garden. If you stay there, definitely this bus is for you. Nearby there are many other hotels. Hotels which locates walking distance from Ariake Garden are Daiwa Roynet Hotel Tokyo-Ariake Sotetsu Grand Fresa Tokyo-Bay Ariake Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel Far East Village Hotel Ariake Tokyo Ariake Bay Hotel La Vista Tokyo Bay and HOTEL JAL CITY TOKYO Toyosu If you stay one of these hotels, this bus is also for you. There are many places to see in this area. The actual cauldron which was used in Tokyo 2020 Olympics is reinstalled here. “Tokyo Big Sight” is the largest international exhibition center in Japan. “SMALL WORLDS Miniature Museum” is one of the largest miniature museum in Asia. At “The Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park”, you can learn how to react if a large earthquake hits. Toyosu wholesale fish market had moved from Tsukiji in 2018. If you want to watch tuna auction at Toyosu fish market, staying in this area is convenient because auction starts very early in the morning. “teamLabPlanets TOKYO” is kind of a museum using various image. If you don’t have big luggage, you can take the bus and head for these places. The free shuttle bus runs 7 times a day, once in every two hours. Depending on your flight’s arrival time, you have to wait for a while. Actually there are many renowned restaurants in Haneda Airport Garden. Bairan is famous Chinese restaurant in Yokohama China Town. Its specialty is fried noodle. This is Bairan fried noodle. What you can see is noodle only. Nothing else. And noodle is stick together. But it seems like there is something inside. Let’s see. Wow. You can find pork, leek, bean sprouts and onion! This is the one and only Bairan fried noodle. Of course, it is good to eat this in Yokohama China Town but it is great to be able to eat it right next to the airport. I found its taste is just the same. Thick sauce using soy sauce with a little sweetness. There are many restaurants in Ariake Garden, too. It is open from 11AM to 11PM. Tsukiji Shokudo Gen-Chan is a sea food restaurant. This is their menu. They purchase their fish from nearby Toyosu and other fish markets. Making rice a large serving and ordering another cup of miso soup does not cost extra. I ordered red sea bream rice bowl in sesame sauce with large serving of rice. Red sea bream is in big pieces. First, I ate it as it is. That means I ate it just like eating a regular rice bowl. Next, I ate it soaking with dashi soup. Put rice and sashimi into a small bowl. Put a tiny bit of Japanese horseradish on to it. Japanese horseradish is so hot and it stimulates nose. So be extra careful not to put much. Even among Japanese, there are people who would not eat Japanese horseradish at all. Pour dashi soup on to rice and sashimi. This sashimi is seasoned with ground sesame, soy sauce and suger. I added rice. Put dried kelp. Also put small rice crackers. These two add flavor. Mix them. And eat. Compared with restaurants in Toyosu fish market, this rice bowl set is reasonably priced, about 1,300 yen. If you want to eat sushi at Toyosu fish market where many tourists visit, price is much higher. This place mainly targets locals. Because I ordered a large portion of rice and drunk all the dashi soup, I got pretty much stuffed and satisfied. I hope this video will help you to decide which transportation best suits your travel plan from Haneda airport. Thank you for watching!
