[Music] you know I can't help but feel that the two best moments in car ownership are the last Drive of a old car and the first drive of a new car and I'm in our 2014 Mustang GT with the coyote with our magniflow exhaust and guess what I'm driving it to the dealership to trade it in on a new car and I'm a little conflicted cuz it's bittersweet taking this really great car with uh 69,000 m to the dealership and I can't help but think about all the memories uh that uh kind of we made in this car making videos with Tommy you know we drag raced it we uh had some great road trips in it that I'm going to think about fondly uh but I'm also about to pick up a new car and I will show you that in a second as soon as I get to our local Ford dealership and no I'm not going to uh the Audi or the uh Land Rover Jaguar dealership here uh off to my right and that's okay so I'll leave you guessing a little bit longer but I'm just going to enjoy this last ride in this Mustang GT and think about uh what a wonderful car it was and how well it served us and just how much fun I had in [Music] it our next newest purchase this is a 2014 Ford Mustang GT the s197 body style um a lot of things about this car are proper but it's too quiet also hey Tommy through the magic of video it's now the next day and Dan has completed our Mustang yes uh so first of all let's take a look at what it looks like uh I just love the fluted exhaust uh stainless steel uh you know fits really beautifully came out visually really good but we got to hear what it sounds like oh yeah in 3 2 1 go oh I got him off the line I got him off the line but he makes torque power at a much higher number now that five L took off the line well he's got all that low-end torque this car makes its peak torque at 7,000 RPM I'm not catching him though what is is happening come on Lexus oh my goodness he beat me that was neck and neck as we got moving all right here we are or should I say I am pulling up to our local Ford Dealership Brighton Ford these guys always take care of us we bought a number of trucks here and now we're buying our first car can you guess what car I'm buying there's a substantial hint right here because yep yep yep yep yep we're going to get that Mustang right there another GT so we're replacing a 10-year-old Mustang GT for a brand new Mustang GT and I got to tell you we got a really good deal on it uh that's one of the reasons we bought it and it's a kind of spec I love which is uh everything you want and nothing you don't actually you know what let me do this I'm going to it's very dark here so I'm going to back up and I'm going to pull this into the row of Mustangs up there for now at least and they can move it whenever they want um they have a couple here um they have that yellow one which somebody ordered is right there that one is 59,000 they have the EcoBoost convertible and then they have these two white ones and white ones quite honestly don't work for us and nether does this black one and the reason for that is because um they don't really do well on camera so let me uh let me open the door here and I'll show you the one that we're saying goodbye to today or I'm saying goodbye to and like I said it is a little bit Bittersweet but oh my it's very slip here Slicker slippery here so this is the one that's going away this is our longterm well I should say summer car and now we're going to get one of the new ones like I said it's that one hiding over there behind the truck and I'm super excited so so long Mr GT we had a good time really enjoyed all the fun we had together but uh now it's time for an all together well it's not that different they're both uh 5 L coyotes but the new one has a little bit more horsepower all right let me go in there do the paperwork and then uh we'll go for our first drive as soon as I've paid for it all right here it is check it out our brand new Ford Mustang GT with the coyote 5 liter how cool is that and I'm about to take my first drive in this dual exhaust and you may be wondering how much it cost well I'm going to tell you that uh in the middle of this video and we're going to tell you exactly what we got on it and how much we paid for it but before we do any of that I think we got to go for a first drive first drive best day of the year you get behind the wheel of a new car all right let's start this bad boy up dual screens how cool is that how many miles do we have oh battery state of charge is low but the guys told me that as long as it charges up on the drive home I should be fine if not they'll replace it I bet it'll charge it probably been sitting here for a while uh let's see 258 mil to empty they gave me a full tank of gas and I think we're looking at uh 15.4 miles uh on the odometer which is uh fine I'm good with that now uh let me turn the lights on here now this particular GT isn't the fancy one like I said we like to get everything we need nothing we don't so leather seats we don't need so we've got cloth seats but it does have something cool which is can you hear that yep that's the active exhaust so we've got active exhaust holy canoli look at that we have heated seats I didn't think we had heated seats how cool is that I guess we have heated seats who would have thought all right I'm put my seat belt on and we're going to take this guy for our first drive click it in and you may be wondering why didn't we get the manual and that's a really good question and I would actually love a manual transmission you know considering that this is uh one of the last V8 standing as you guys know the Camaro is uh gone a Dodge Charger Challenger twins are gone and so Ford's the last muscle car for it say Pony car standing and I would love to have it with the manual transmission but because we do video reviews and we do long-term testing which is what this is for um most people are going to buy the automatic so we like to get what most people get uh and also it's a lot easier to sell at the end of the year when we're done with this uh when I went to trade in the other one I remember uh Josh uh the sales manager here he asked me how many miles what year what's the V and then he said automatic or manual and we said manual he kind of gave me this look like please say it's not a manual and I was like no no no it's an automatic much harder to sell uh even though as an Enthusiast I love them but as a businessman you got to go with the automatic and the 10 speed isn't bad oh love the sound of that love the heated seats um how exciting smells like a new car uh got to get used to these dual screens uh apparently if I remember right you can change the dials we'll do that a little bit later right now I just want to concentrate on what it's like to drive this we've gone up in Horsepower because we got the ex active exhaust normally this 5 L has 460 horsepower the old one was 420 but you get 20 more with the active exhaust so we're at 480 horsepower gosh when I was in high school 480 would have been mindblowing and now you can get it at your local Ford dealership out of a GT oh yeah feels good thick steering wheel don't want to I don't really want to give it to beans I want to break this engine in um oh it steers really well feels like it's got a lot more natural athletic ability than the old one the old one was just felt heavy and actually let me turn the light on it here see some where's my light the old one fell felt heavy and you know straight line performer this feels like it'll actually go around a corner don't want to go to Red Line oh that is incredible well guys uh I am over the moon love the Ford Mustang GT5 L with the coyote it's just an American classic can't wait to go drag racing this after we break it in can't wait to uh do some more videos but I promised you uh that we're going to talk about the features how much we paid for it uh and of course why this is the perfect Mustang in my opinion and that is coming up right now well there it is Tommy in the daylight what do you think of it oh Dad it's beautiful I'm really excited about this car because I am a big mustang fan big fan of V8s and Dad I was just thinking about this this could be the very last new V8 we buy they're getting rarer and rarer and more more expensive because they're typically not relegated to really high-end cars so this is a big day yeah it's the last muscle car standing uh of course Dodge gone M Camaro gone yep when I say dodge I mean most of the brand is gone not just the charger and Challenger hopefully they'll replace them with something but let's talk about the finances and how much we paid for this as you know I'm a big believer in getting everything you need and nothing you don't yeah for sure Dad and back when you were a kid in 1932 a flathead V8 was probably 3 pennies and a raspberry but nowadays V8s are expensive and the Mustang is expensive but as sports cars go especially V8 powered ones this is about as cheap as you're going to find yeah so you have the Monon I do I have the Monon so here's the thing dad right um realistically it would be possible to get a cheaper Mustang from an MSRP standpoint but for what we paid for this vehicle it's about as cheap as you're going to get because we got a substantial discount which we'll talk about in a little SEC here so here is the sticker so 2024 GT coupe 5 L V8 now the sticker price on this one $ 4791 and that is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination um it's actually right online with the average new car transaction price in 2024 um but Dad we didn't pay 4791 what did we actually pay we got 5,000 off right we got $5,000 off on the sticker so that takes it down to 40 2000 and then they gave us almost $20,000 in trade on the old Mustang so the final number and I want to show that don't put that away I want to show what we got on it the final number we paid was 26,4 199 with the trade and with taxes that was everything out the door so with taxes and registration fees and whatever we were in at about $46,000 45 exactly with uh when you account for the trade and that kind of thing now let's talk about this everything you need nothing you don't that I was talking about so why don't you you show them what options we got because uh this doesn't have many options which is what I love about it yeah well this is a base GT coupe so it's not a premium it's not a dark horse it's not a performance pack it doesn't have the performance pack no so it only has a couple options so first of all it does have the equipment brute 301a which gives you Serius XM and then the Dual Zone electronic auto temperature control that's $2,000 um the 10-speed automatic 1,600 and the um active valve exhaust was another 1225 so you could save some money if you went with other options that that didn't include the the valving and some of the convenience features here but here's the thing dad um you just walked in off the streets and then end up buying this for basically $42,000 which um is about as cheap as you're going to get a new Mustang and how did you do that did you have to pull like some YouTuber strings how are we able to do that no so at Brighton Ford where we get all of our forwards um they're mainly a truck dealership uh and uh they were telling me that what they' had to do was they had to order these way back in the summer and of of course the way things work is they don't show up in the summer when people want them those geys are loud aren't they be quiet please they don't show up in the summer but they delivered these Mustangs to them in the winter in Colorado where a rear wheeel drive sports car is not exactly highly sought after right and if you go on the website I mean they have other Mustangs in stock that are also like four to 5K off stickers so we didn't get any kind of special treatment we just basically walked in off the street um I know like other dealers in the US are still charging stickers some are charging over sticker don't do that if you're going to buy one of these cars take a weekend and travel somewhere go to Boise come to Denver uh go to Montana right and you'll often find dealers are much more willing to give you a a break on the price on these new Mustangs yeah and what I love about this is the color Tommy and of course look there's a lot of features that we didn't get if we show them the interior it's a it's a sea of black and gray right it's not exactly uh exciting back here there's a little bit of leather but most of it is uh cloth um but you do get the two big screens and you get the most important feature in my mind you want to start it up yeah you want to hear the active exhaust yeah start it up would you yep okay go for it okay hang on I'm going to put it in the quiet mode oh he's going to start in quiet mode it's stuck here we go all right here comes the quiet mode are you ready uhhuh oh man dad this system's a little slow to boot up it's still booting up good thing we rehearsed this Tommy it's not booted up yet what is it is the cold getting to it it's just flashing the Mustang logo oh God we got come on we got like 20 miles here we go okay it's it's booted up all right here's the quiet mode are you [Music] ready all right that's quiet here comes the normal mode all right here comes a sport mode and here comes the track [Music] mode yeah that is fantastic that's got to be one of the best EX not yeah now look that as you mentioned right um the interior is not super fancy doesn't have like the fancy seats um we don't have like um the the the performance seats by any stretch of the imaginations these are cber seats they are um Power adjustment forward and back power adjusted on the driver's side on the driver's side yeah you do have lumbar control but the passenger side is full manual um we do have heated seats which is great but no ventilated seats no um adaptive cruise control right just standard cruise control have blly side monitoring which standard which is pretty cool and the coolest thing is when you get that active exhaust you not only get a cooler better more well let's say American sounding Mustang you also get what Tommy well you get a little bit more power EXA so the power rating jumps up to 480 oh want to take that off pulls off in camera oh look at that yeah 480 horsepower and then um torque jumps up to 415 now D this is the New Gen 4 coyote V8 they've got this new dual intake setup they've changed some stuff around with the oil pan and in the new s650 Mustang um it you know it's supposed to be a more responsive more powerful engine it's not that different than the S550 generation of for would disagree well they will all new chassis all new engine yes but it's realistically that it's it's it's a heavy Evolution but for example stuff like the wheel base right pretty much the same um a lot of like the structural components are pretty similar yeah so there were really two main reasons we bought this number one we love muscle cars and this is it yep you know farewell to the V8 uh GM said they're going to do another Generation Um but we'll see right uh we'll certainly see that they put in the Camaro and the other reason is you know we did a lot of drag racing in the previous Mustang it became kind of the the bar for you know American quick fast muscle cars and so this summer when it warms up we'll do a lot of drag racing with this and this will become the new bar since it's a new Mustang and we have to talk about the elfant in the room which um well we didn't get the manual transmission oh we didn't get the manual transmission and a couple reasons for that we've got a several videographers that don't know how to drive manual so you got to have the auto so that videographers can move it around yep um and B for resale value uh when you trade it in the old Mustang they flat out said if it was a manual they they probably would have a much harder time selling it well what what happened was he asked me is it an automatic and then he kind of paused and said manual and I said don't worry it's an automatic and as much as I love manuals and I would for myself personally love to have a manual uh especially since are also going away at some point we're going to keep this for a year do a long-term review with it and we have to move it on and the market for manuals is much smaller even for enthusiast cars yeah for sure and this is a good it's a 10speed I mean it's pretty it's great great and look here's the other thing so when I was a kid right manuals were more fuel efficient this is when you could trade a haircut for a car remember raspberry back in the 1932 yes yeah so manuals were more fuel efficient and they were quicker yes and that has flipped on its head right so now manuals are slower and they use more fuel so if you're a true enthusiast when you're buying a sports car do you want the faster one or do you want the slower one just because it's more engaging to drive it's a decision you guys have to make for yourself yeah we also don't have the drift brake so s650 debuted that cool electronic drift brake yeah where you going to do that realistically probably nowhere here you're going to do that here and then have the fleece come yeah we don't have um like the California special package or like the night package um certainly the Dark Horse package yeah certainly isn't a dark horse certainly isn't the Shelby which isn't out yet but I think it's going to be a good bench line dad um and I I also want to see you know for 42 what we paid for this vehicle is it good value over the year we're going to find out some reliability stuff and get you a full ownership report on the s650 Mustang yeah the only thing that I don't like about it uh and now they're becoming a little p are the black wheels you know for a long time like the black wheels were super popular and super hot I think it'd be fun to change this out into something different a little bit more modern a little bit more uh you know now versus 5 years ago but look at this that 18inch wheel and look at how fat that sidewall is gives this thing a great ride right you don't have some little rubber band profile you got a nice fat tire so I do like that about it yeah and we actually have Remos so you can pay for uh you know the special blue brembos but these are also brembos so well performance pack get also improved breaking performance yeah and you get a like a stabilizer bar across the yeah you get the the strut bar and you get um a bunch of other things this also has the 315 axer ratio so it's not it's not the screamer but it has the uh uh limited slip does have a standard LSD yeah which is good so once again everything you need and nothing you don't and I'm super excited I can't wait to spend a year uh with this uh Mustang getting to know it drag racing it doing a bunch of videos with it it's going to be a lot of fun well let us know what you guys want to see with the Mustang in the comments below and as always this has been Tommy and Roman saying we'll see you next time [Music] ciao
