To be on the receiving end of the sheer quantity of Hitchslaps and Fry yelling, "What are you for!" I would crawl into a hole and never show my face again.
The arguments presented by Fry and Hitch had this paradoxical quality, in that they were so emotionally moving and at the same time so articulately barbed.
It was beautiful. We miss you Hitch.
This was really good if you have time to watch the whole thing. Though I think it was unevenly matched Steven Fry and Christopher Hitchens absolutely crushed their debate partners, i can't think of an apologist that would match them though.
It would've been pretty difficult to win a debate against Hitchens or Fry, let alone against them both.
The Catholic church is an international pedophile ring. They spend hundreds of millions dollars on covering up child abuse.

The difficulty faced by the catholic church in producing effective opponenets for Fry and Hitchens was that the catholic church is demonstrably evil, in no way connected with their proclaimed god, doesn't promote or abide by the rules of their own rulebook and seems to desire a return to the good old days where they had massive political power.
hmmmm let's see why: Hell nuns who have interned the bodies of dead children around the world in mass graves, locked children in freezing iron cages in the cellars of their facilities (ie Nuns of Mercy in Ireland and in Canada) where these kids killed themselves by SELF-inflicting cranial wounds (head butting the metal bars), or to inducing plague like conditions to the people of India.
-Starting wars or encouraging facists to start wars. South America, and European ones, supporting dictators anywhere in South America, Duvaliers (Mother Teresa), anywhere inEurope, South Vietnam, .
-Mutilating teenage girls bodies as witches.
-Genocide of most human nations: Jews, (Crusades, Goa State in India, Japan, China, the Americas, Romanis).
-delaying the progression of Terrans by hindering scientific inquiry since 2020.
-Presuming that St Peter is a real person, his ministry to fuck over humanity started during his missionary work, not just Rome being the capital of the Christendom, numerous places around Asia minor, and enticing warfare among followers of this fish cult.
-Hoarding huge sums of money in their treasury from said conquests donations to the church from hard-working European rural folk, on that note pretending they're poor when they're not.
-Propagating civil strife in Ireland. While not the church itself more of it's lunatic members of both sects. But still not using that Vatican wealth to send peace initiatives to that Troubles country.
-Hindering Stem Cells research, knowing damn full well there are now alternatives to human cells, hell you can take out cells from the umbilical cord.
-Interfering with the political evolution of nations.
-Scaring little 8+-year-olds with stories of horrific monsters who will torture them, the stress and anxiety damages their young malleable brains and stunts their growth, as well as destroys critical neurons giving them a severe permanent state of heightened anxiety, ease of stress hormone (a nasty and very causic class of neural transmitters that fries brain cells, less brain cells=less of everything including health regulations).
-GRAND Larceny from non -member tax payers of a community who pay for Catholic school boards with secular taxes, instead of say something important, like filling up potholes or medical research or actual social services that provide humans access to upgrades in life.
