if you want a two-door top-down V8 experience in 2023 your options are pretty slim to be honest but I think by far the best new option is the SL63 it's fast it's a I think you're you're forgetting something no I I don't think I am you are but it's okay I'll give you a pass because the only people buying SLS are old people who can't remember anything this is the guy with the Jaguar well not just any Jaguar sir it's the new F-Type this is the jaguar for cooler old men or just cooler people well I can't remember the last time I've heard anyone talk about a Jaguar so that's because it's a sleeper I'm sure you're quite familiar with sleep right since it's the only thing that SL customers do when they're not in their SL okay well let's let the people decide who's got the better roads too fine fine fine in today's video is sponsored by brilliant.org which is one of the best ways to learn math data science and computer science interactively online we'll get into that a bit more later but for now just know that brilliant I love you Doug so this car combines the Elegance of an Aston Martin with the brutish aggressiveness of the Cadillac ct5 V Black Wing then sprinkle in a little bit of the playfulness of the Toyota Supra and on top of all that you can experience it with an open top what's not to like we can talk about what's not to like about this car a little bit later but just know that this car may not be the most appealing vehicle for clout demons or anyone under 50 but God damn this car just makes you feel alive [Music] unlike that AMG the Jaguar F-Type features a Supercharged V8 not some boring twin turbo V8 that's in a million other cars right now look the Challenger Hellcat ends production this year the Ford Mustang GT500 still hasn't been announced for the new generation and the Camaro is also officially dead so if you want a two-door sports car with a Supercharged V8 made in 2023 this is currently your only option and in my opinion it's quite a good one the noises the aggression the drama this 5-liter V8 brute truly has it all putting it frankly there's just no shortage of smiles per gallon I killed half the tank yesterday with two hours of driving and I don't regret it one bit oh and did I mention this car is absolutely ballistic got 575 horsepower so you can do 0-60 [Music] in 3.5 seconds this car moves like nobody's business the car's all-wheel drive so it isn't Super Tail happy but I love that it stays very pointed uh and focused in hard corners and bends but it has this element of playfulness and compliance to it that makes it very fun to drive and I've said this with every other supercharged car I've driven on this channel but I totally prefer the linear and more predictable more direct power delivery of a supercharger versus a turbo setup you're not just getting randomly smacked in the face with turbo Power it makes you feel like you know the car just a little bit more when it's just that much more predictable from a power delivery sense from first gear I just floor it and it goes I'm not waiting for any boost to kick in if you give this car the proper amount of throttle and steering Force when coming out of a corner it'll definitely slide out on you just a little bit not a lot but just a little bit and you're obviously sitting very low to the ground so you're just getting a very true sports car experience honestly the F-type makes the C8 Corvette feel like a true Grand Tour but some would say it's not honestly that's a topic for a different video for now let's just let's just enjoy this thing this car is sitting pretty low so it isn't the most soft or plush ride especially in Dynamic mode but I feel like it's comfortable enough to use every day and the top drops in less than 15 seconds so that part is pretty quick and with the windows up there isn't a whole lot of wind noise and if you can hear me that means this car is pretty good at allowing you to carry a conversation with someone in the passenger seat and when you factor in the all-wheel drive it makes for a car that's just like very daily yes it is pretty intense compared to like an SUV to drive every day but I feel like this is something I can rock on The Daily in short the convertible slash daily aspects of this car I feel like are very good let me ask you something who do you know in 2023 who thinks about buying a new two-door V8 powered sports car and thinks hmm Jaguar uh not I especially when you have cars like this the SL63 AMG is not only just as quick as the F-type of the whopping two extra horsepower but you've got more space that's right two extra seats in the back that will perfectly fit a human without legs and you've also got an infotainment system that looks like it was designed in the 21st century oh and did I mention this is an AMG this car is powered by the tried and true 4-liter twin turbo V8 found in all the other AMG models making 577 horsepower ensure this motor is not as loud or aggressive as the one in the F-type but this thing is every bit of fast and even though this is the turbocharged setup the power delivery is a lot more linear than you think you get a nice little kick of power in first gear and then once you hit second it's Off to the Races AMG claims a 3.5 second 0-60 but this car has actually been tested doing 60 miles an hour in three seconds flat needless to say this car is absolutely ballistic and I think it's easily the most thrilling SL model that Mercedes has ever made if you're not including the Black Series models I guess you of course also have the nine-speed automatic gearbox found on all the other AMG models and it's as easy to live with as it's ever been you've got nice quick and seamless shifts that aren't too aggressive the SL is definitely ready to have some fun when you want but it's also a very good do it all daily driver now when it comes to the steering feel in this car it's not the most sharper Focus AMG I've driven in fact this car does tend to understeer just a little bit it's not the most compliant and hard corners and hair pins but this isn't a track car this isn't meant to be taken on you know intense Auto crosses or anything like that the steel brakes that come standard on this car are also very good very grabby and you can even opt for carbon Ceramics on this car to make the stopping power even better but I don't think anyone who isn't taking this thing on a track which most people likely aren't going to do in an SL should do I think you should stick with the standard brakes braking power is excellent for daily Street driving even if you're really getting on it the SL is also just a more elegant Roadster of the two the air suspension in here allows you to seamlessly glide on the road as you zoom past all of your British haters on the road and between the all-wheel drive and all the tech it feels like it's just impossible to mess up in this car even when pushing it to the limits even when you put this thing in race mode with traction control off it's shockingly compliant oh okay I gotta figure out a way how to get off this island okay I think I'm gonna need to build a raft I can probably figure out the basics of how to do that on brilliant.org brilliant.org is the best way to learn math and computer science interactively it's one of the most personable and effective ways to learn trust me Doug brilliant has a beautifully designed website with thousands of lessons that can teach you the basics of math AI data science neural networks and much more and not just the basics you can learn like the more advanced stuff too when you you get to that level I love brilliant.org because I'm not brilliant but thanks to brilliant.org I can take these fun engineering lessons so I can learn more about the cars I try to tell you about and with my busy schedule brilliant fits perfectly into my day the McLaren P1 having a roof scoop isn't what's cool about the car it's about how that Angelic sneezing makes you feel just like the knowledge it ain't about having the knowledges about how having the knowledge makes you feel you want to achieve your goals you want to be the best student you can be you want to have the biggest of brains well get brilliant you can try it for free for a full 30 days using my special link in the description below or just visit brilliant.org cars with Miles and the first 200 people to sign up using that link will get 20 off brilliant annual premium subscription plan so check it out now don't wait get brilliant unlike me who's trying to get brilliant but I'm not brilliant right now get brilliant.org right now yeah back to the video the F-type is one of these few modern cars that comes close to being perfect in its ability to blend analog feel in Tech as all the functions you'll be interacting with the most are still all Hardware controlled climate control is super easy to get around you've got these dials to adjust the climate for your heated and cooled seats as well as the AC obviously there just isn't anything confusing about the setup everything is pretty much perfectly labeled and presented the biggest problem with the infotainment in this car is the screen it feels like it was just ripped out of a 20 year old car one of the biggest problems I face when using this every day is that when the top is down and the sun is out it's often very hard to see this Green in this car although it is fairly dated it is pretty intuitive and easy to go around I just feel like if the F-type had the same infotainment setup that the new Land Rovers and Range Rovers have it would be pretty much perfect for the asking price if you asked me and of course you're lacking Wireless Apple carplay and Android auto which I feel like is pretty inexcusable for a six-figure vehicle made in 2023 once again I just don't understand why that's missing here and if I'm to be correct this is going to be the last F-Type of this kind ever made so the fact that they're going out like this is a little disappointing in terms of the tech and the speakers in here they are they are not very good like not at all it sounded like they were ripped out of a thirty thousand dollar car there's no depth or Fidelity to the audio listening experience at all it's just a super mid setup quite honestly there's no option to upgrade to a higher end system so you're pretty much just stuck with this Meridian sound system no matter what if I bought this car the very first thing I would do is upgrade the sound system with something else because it's just not cutting it for me and I typically prefer a meteor steering wheel I've kind of had to get used to the thinness of this steering wheel but I don't mind it after a couple of days of usage but my big gripe is these paddle shifters they're very clicky and tactile but they just have this cheap feeling to it I kind of wish to have the same paddle shifters that they're using in the new Range Rovers but other than that I have no complaints with this interior the seats are very comfortable with heated and cool technology which is not something I would expect for a car like this the visibility is really good minus this tiny little mirror you've got in here this is honestly so bizarre how you have this in here and it's so freaking small I feel like they threw this in here just to say they have one and they can meet regulations and all that and for a two-door Roadster I feel like there's plenty of room in here quite honestly and I feel like for half the cost of the sl60 the Roadster as optioned I feel like you can't go wrong with this while the F-type feels a little bit dated when it comes to Tech and interior features this car has all of the tech this car's got the latest version of mbux which is just loaded to the brim with features even the convertible toggle is done through the display there's automatic Lane changing features massaging seats Wireless car playing Android auto a fingerprint scanner and a heads-up display and that's just to name a few at times it feels a little bit overwhelming how much Tech is in this car but at the same time you can't really say that anything's missing from the experience in that regard and of course the vermeister sound system in this car absolutely embarrasses the sound system in the F-type this car at 40 volume is as loud as the F-type at 80 percent the low end in this car is incredible with a super boomy subwoofer and the overall Clarity and Fidelity is phenomenal but that's kind of to be expected with a 200 000 car and I know a lot of people don't care about this at all but in the SL as opposed to the F-type you actually can get some Road recognition I got zero thumbs up on the road when I drove that Jaguar around for a week but in this I've gotten a lot of attention which has honestly been surprising since it's not really the craziest looking Mercedes compared to older AMG and black series models but if you're looking for a car that'll get a bit more appreciation from other Road goers this is definitely the one and I know blanket car isn't all about what other people think about it but sometimes you want a little validation for your 200 000 purchase [Music] foreign there's been a lot of complaints about the fact that this car has been slightly neutered or dialed down compared to the previous version and to those people I say shut up this is 2023 and we have a car that's making noises like this without any modifications just enjoy what you could get while you could still get it because this stuff is going away oh another underpass [Music] [Applause] this SL63 is the best V8 powered roadster that Mercedes has ever made period not only is it super fast and fun to zip around but it's a really capable long distance Cruiser and it's absolutely loaded to the brim with tech features and I feel like for around 200 Grand if the 911 Turbo is a bit too cliche I think the AMG SL63 is the way now as far as which one I would personally buy despite how awesome this car is in its own right I gotta go with the F-type sure it's not as modernized as the SL but it's one of those cars that I take any excuse to get in and go for a drive it's truly a raw Driving Experience it's exhilarating it's emotional and it's the last F-Type that's ever going to be made which makes since the more special car by default but let me know in the comment section down below which car you would choose for either a hundred or two hundred thousand dollars for a V8 powered roadster and if you enjoyed this video be sure to give it a thumbs up and subscribe for future content like this and I'll talk to you guys in the next one more V8 powered stuff coming soon [Music] a car that I honestly think about every week is the Cadillac Escalade V and every time I take this thing through an underpass it just makes me feel like I I've got like 70 percent of that experience but in a car that's so much more fun to actually drive aggressively it's it's honestly fantastic
