The Broncos QB Situation is WORSE Than You Think

get out of quarterback Purgatory the Broncos are in one of the worst quarterback situations in the NFL Russell Wilson was supposed to pull the Broncos out from the depths of hell and make them relevant a relevant playoff team and the Broncos were supposed to be made great again and Mr unlimited had been given a seven-year term to do so two years into a seven-year contract and the Broncos are hamstrung with dead money guarantees even after they impeach Russ they're not in a great position to draft their next quarterback after they danced with the playoff devil and lost they didn't just dance they rubbed their crotch and grinded on the backside of that twerking devil and he burned our football dicks right off we're a [ __ ] football team and as soon as we thought things were going to be okay they got worse told me that uh if I didn't change my contract my injury guaranteed that I'd be uh you know that i' I'd be benched for the rest of the year and for I don't know I think we had nine games left or so so what does the team do now how shitty will it be for me and all Broncos fans and for how long today I'm going to try and answer that elusive question or questions is there any existence Bears fans know no other way of life in terms of QBs they are still inside of Plato's Cave maybe they're just seeing the light Packers fans are on the opposite end of the spectrum they haven't been in quarterback Purgatory since the80s the Packers were uncertain about their QB for exactly one and a half months since the year 1992 [ __ ] those lactose loving sons of [ __ ] since the year 2000 the Browns have cycled through the most starting QBs at 17 Tim Couch uh Brady Quinn Colt McCoy Jason Campbell Brandon Weeden Johnny Manzel Josh maau baker Mayfield toang deshun Watson and they're now in this bizarre scenario where uh Joe Flaco's saving their Season watching Joe flacko save the Browns is like seeing the most staunch atheist you know get saved by Jesus after watching One Tim TBO sermon I I think there's two things there's a lot I got a lot of love and respect for coach pton and just where we are right now they forgot how faithful he was and by the way so do we I I came here to to um to play here um to to to win and knew it was going to be a process to to uh you know you know I signed a seven-year deal to you know for us to go and play hard and the the Browns though had the first overall pick and got a dude in Baker Mayfield who led them to their first playoff Victory uh in 2021 since the team returned to Cleveland the Bears are actually in a nice spot they have Justin fields or whoever they want in this draft the commanders have the second overall pick currently so after cycling through 14 different starters since the year 2000 uh they can have Drake May or Jaden danels to get themselves out of QB Purgatory true quarterback Purgatory is where the Broncos currently exist 13 different starters since the year 2000 most of which uh coming since 2016 they're not in a good draft position to select their next franchise guy they are going to literally pay Russell Wilson to not play quarterback for them for the next two seasons and they're testing Jared stum the last time I got a s test turned out it was garia that's quarterback Purgatory now since they're going to be eating 35.4 million uh in 2024 and 49.6 million in 2025 and dead cap money from the Wilson contract they can't go out and sign a legit starter a playoff caliber like say Kirk Cousins because the salary cap will not allow it and to be fair I praised the trade for Russell Wilson I praised the contract extension for Wilson I knew he had some flaws in his game but I thought he was as clear of an upgrade that this team had seen since pton Manning took over for Tim TBO so do I wrong I was wrong and I have been wrong every step of the way since pton Manning retired this team makes me football stupid it's like I know less about the sport after watching the Broncos the last eight years so quarterback Purgatory is suffering from multiple years of missed playoff appearances because every quarterback you start does not work out but most importantly finding yourself in in a position where you can't see how your team can get out of the [ __ ] mess they made oh let's ride let run Russell Wilson was of course benched in favor of loky hot Jarrett stum and after a tiny sample size I'm not going to overly critique stum he did some things better than Russ got a win but ultimately left a lot to be desired how he plays against a very good Raiders defense could determine how prominent his role is with the Broncos for the 2024 season are there any teams out there that would be better with Russell Wilson as their QB next season yes for all of Russell Wilson's limitations he's still better than a chunk of QBs that are starting in the NFL currently a third of the starters in the league are backups so let that mean whatever you want it to mean I made a case for Russ going to Atlanta in the last Russ episode and I think without question that is still the best fit for him and I don't really give a [ __ ] what they do at the head coaching position Personnel wise that's a good fit knowing that Russell Wilson will want to stick it to the Broncos on his way out even though they were the only team who gave him everything he wanted he can play for the vet minimum and say Atlanta and force Denver to pay 99% of his salary moving forward one team that Russ has been linked to is the Pittsburgh Steelers the Steelers may have been interested until Mason Rudolph showed up and saved their season if Mason plays well in the final week gets the Steelers into the postseason and say wins a game then I highly doubt the Steelers will even consider signing Russell Wilson I say that as a man who really hopes Russ gets another shot somewhere and proves all the haters wrong but being as football objective as I can be I really haven't seen a single game where I can say Russ played better football than Mason [ __ ] Rudolph that's quarterback Purgatory Russell Wilson will not do Denver any favors with his contract because if he were willing to do so that would have already happened it's also a sign he knows damn well no other team on Earth will offer him anything close to what the Broncos did I I think this idea that um he and I or we don't have a good relationship or he's not the fit all of that stuff I think comes from people further away from our program you guys are close to it so the I think the further away people are from the program the more they just jump to a narrative and it's um it is what it is now Russ may say all the right things pizza pizza pizza and demonstrate confidence in his ability to play turn it up turn it up he might think that he can play uh the way he did in the 2010s but he's also a shrewd greedy businessman which he has every right to be so let me paint you a a a Purgatory Masterpiece all right that Masterpiece by the way is the scream this is representative of the Broncos quarterback situation since pton Manning retired there have been way too many different starting quarterbacks in Denver I could list them all but it's funnier if you hear left tackle Garett BS try and do it for us my rookie year I think I blocked for um Paxton Lance uh Trevor Simeon Brock Osweiler my second year 2018 I think I had case Kino third year I had Joe flacko Drew lock what is it D drisle does that sound right no Brandon Allen what was the following year was that 19 N oh now I'm on 20 um 20 was I think Dre Rell played that year when we played Pittsburgh 2020 Kendall Hinton you have to bless in cuz he was our quarterback Drew lock again Teddy who else was who's the backup for Teddy Drew again um then there's another another one oh Brett ripping who's 2020 oh Russell um and then I got hurt and then we had russle and now um Cas Keenum I lose count I mean that's a lot of quarterbacks now so there have been so many quarterbacks that Garrett BS thinks Case Keenum is starting for the Broncos right now and not Jarrett stum and I don't blame him six former Broncos QBs will have started for other teams this season alone and I agree with the Tweet here yeah that's got to be some sort of record former Broncos quarterbacks Joe Flaco Case Keenum Trevor Simeon Brett rippen and Drew lock have started and or in D Driscoll's case will make starts for other teams this year four former starters two guys Denver gave a lot of money to and flacko and Keenum and another they drafted and Drew lock are all only good enough to be backups in the league I'm rooting for all of those guys but everyone here was a Miss now I did a full video about every mistake the Broncos have made since pton Manning retired watch that if you you desire but for quarterbacks specifically Paxton Lynch instead of Dak Prescott in the 2016 draft mistake 2018 chub instead of Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen Drew lock in 2019 was fine you got to keep swinging could have had Jordan love in 2020 yeah now that he's good we'll be revisionists about that Packers pick 2021 could have been Justin Fields instead the organization declined to draft QBs and paid Joe flacko they paid Case Keenum and Teddy Bridgewater for zero playoff appearances hilarious because Joe flacko is on a heater right now so I guess John El was right about Joe Flaco entering his Elite Prime even if that's an an anomaly coming off the couch to save the Browns but seeing Joe Flaco tear it up is somehow worse knowing the bronos couldn't make it work with him it's tragic that after paying sorry overpaying Joe Flo and Case Keenum two QB contracts Denver regretted and ultimately paid those guys to go to other places that didn't prevent them from doing the same [ __ ] thing with Russell Wilson to bring it to mind to chew on it to bring it to mind to chew on it to bring it to mind to chew on it over and over and over again that's what happens though when front offices change and nobody learns from their own freaking mistakes now looking to the draft Broncos fans only hope of leaving Purgatory is praying Michael pennick Jr or B knck is is the next coming of Jesus I mean John Elway or pton Manning unless Denver you know can trade into the top five those are the only two quarterbacks who could realistically be available where they're currently Drafting and while both have possible upside neither's a guarantee even if taken in the middle of the draft and I don't think they'll be available there Denver will have to be aggressive to move up to get one of them which means another area of need will have to be ignored in this draft I would be thrilled to get pinck I really would Oregon fans if you listen to them long enough we'll convince you B Knicks is actually a better fit for Shawn Payton considering the Broncos are 19 million over the cap right now they're only option is a QB through the draft on a rookie deal honestly we might have a better chance at Tom Brady announcing he's un retiring to come play with Shawn Payton and that gr's coming with him and as part owner of the Raiders he will also give us Max Crosby for nothing and little Hunter Renfro no QB in NFL history has done more with little white slot receivers than Tom Brady of course and I don't even care if he doesn't actually own part of the Raiders right now okay it's just funny there's only one affordable free agent quarterback I will accept this off season and his name is Gardner muu he's the only QB that even if we lose we win Baker Mayfield will be a free agent jamus Winston with obvious Shan pton ties will be a free agent Sam Darnell jacobe brette Drew lock and the white whale himself Kirk Cousins now Baker Mayfield's interesting but if Shawn pyton wasn't a fan of Russell Wilson's skill set uh as a QB Baker is too similar I love what Mayfield has done this season but he's not the answer for the Broncos the only guy in that group that you can guarantee is an upgrade and a man who can lead you to the playoffs and maybe a Super Bowl is big kirkko people forget Nate games cousins had 2,300 passing yards 18 TDS to just five picks this season he was dealing while the Vikings defense wasn't doing [ __ ] as they learned to play Brian Flores football and they got nothing from the run game again the Broncos can't afford Kirk Cousins but beyond that after the Vikings were promptly thrust past QB purgatory and straight to hell I cannot see them not making a strong play to bring Kirk cousins back I say that also to point out that the Vikings are currently ahead of the Broncos in the draft Minnesota can make Kirk an offer one I think he will prefer as his family is rooted in Minnesota now with the luxury of also drafting a guy to sit behind cousins and marinate like the Rival Packers have done so well the worst thing that can happen for the Broncos right now is they beat the Raiders in a meaningless game uh week 18 for Pride watch the Seahawks then lose and then jump the Broncos in the draft as well Seattle needs a QB and Michael pinnick is already in Washington so you tell me how that story ends let's just say the Bears trade out of the first overall pick with screw it Atlanta sorry Russ you're going to back up Mason Rudolph and Pittsburgh while Kenny picket quits football all together after getting paid $50 million to donate his tiny hands to science that means in front of the Broncos is Atlanta taking Caleb Williams Washington taking Drake May after Bill bich accepts a job there the Patriots taking Jaden Daniels with new head coach Ben Johnson the cards stick with Murray and draft him Marvin Harrison Jr the Giants need a QB uh the Chargers don't the Titans presumably don't the Jets need a quarterback after Rogers but I think they go o line they're not going to do that right oh but that would be funny the Bears have back-to-back picks in my scenario here but here's Purgatory in the dra my friends Raiders Vikings Saints they could all use quarterbacks they're all in a perfect spot to rip the only two feasible QBs from the Broncos cold dead hands and again if Denver wins and Seattle loses the Seahawks jump him and don't you dare tell me JJ McCarthy don't mock him to the Broncos please we're stuck in QB purgatory and he would be the perfect man to carry on that tradition Derek Carr by the way is now willing to rework his contract to help the Saints imagine if Russ were willing to do the same can't can't do it can't imagine it so what does that mean oh it means we are still on the ride
