this is ultimate pools we found our first splash-worthy pool in the middle of the utah desert and it looks like something straight out of a [Music] movie this kind of our mini resort that we enjoy here and so it's a great great place to come and hang out with more than a dozen grandkids ranging in age from newborn to young adults jerry set out to build a backyard that enticed everyone well when we started we wanted to create a fun environment one of my granddaughters asked when we build this pool grandpa can we make it so it's not so boring so you know we wanted a jump rock and various platforms to jump off and the log and a slide and the grotto so we had this big long list and they were all important things for our grandkids we just wanted to make this the funnest coolest place that they could come and hang out and so that was very important to us [Music] granting all of jerry's wishes required a very inventive pool designer i get overly overly excited about every pool project that i'm on i try and build something that i would like my kids or me to have actually in my backyard so it's a dream for any pool builder to have somebody come to you and do something like this this grandpa's super cool pool features 14 different water features making for lots of splashing [Music] water comes from the mouth of lions cascades down three giant cliffs and spills out over the hot tub and the kiddie pool we've got different platforms that they can jump off and so sometimes you'll have five six seven kids jumping at the same time who's going in first jump jump go for it we like movies and so we thought we're going to design this around kind of a indiana jones theme and that's why we ended up with a lot of the jump rocks and the the log and the caves and just some of the fun things you might find in some of those movies even indiana jones would enjoy the thrills of the kids favorite feature in the pool a log jutting out 15 feet over the deep end everyone just wants to jump off that [Music] we'll have a line of people up there trying to out do each other you know doing back flips front flips that seems to be the central focus of the pool our next family wanted to make a huge splash with their pool so they did something no one had ever seen one of the most unique things about this pool is it's built into the house that's right the slide for this incredible pool actually starts from the second story of the house that's kind of where it all began with slide coming off of the balcony pool designer joe depalo spent the next seven months creating this one of a kind pool we had to actually cut into the foundation and the beams that held the house up it made the pool look like it came from the actual house we had a slide a 20-foot slide that we put into a tunnel and to access that slide we built the rock outcropping up to the second floor and made a access ramp to the slide and the slide goes down a tunnel and then it ends up under a waterfalls in the pool taking up the entire backyard the pool is flanked on all sides by waterfalls connected at points around the pool by unique stone bridges called water arches these are stone monoliths that go from one side of the pool to the other many times 14 16 18 feet spans and we elevated them to the position of the second floor this pool takes splash ability to a whole new level shane's daughters are gymnasts and several of the falls feature large flat rocks that are perfect for twisting turning and flipping into the water from the deep end to the high dive this pool makes a huge splash with everyone who sees it people always just seem to come here in a good mood and then leave in a good mood [Applause] [Music] our next backyard features a pool designed by a dad with an ulterior motive when the kids were in middle school we decided we'd rather have all their friends come to our house and have our kids go to their house and we needed something that would really be attractive to them so we decided to build a pool an entire backyard environment that was sort of theme park like mark's backyard theme park starts at his back door and continues nearly a half acre across his property i had some very clear ideas about how i wanted the pool to be designed and built i'm also an engineer so i had some very interesting engineering ideas i wanted to implement but no idea was too big for pool designer aaron tammy we had new engineering challenges that we hadn't had before when somebody gives us the opportunity to build a pool such as this magnitude there's so many unique things that we get to work with and so many different water features and elements that bring this pool to life one of the engineering issues involved topography since the property sits on a hill the dry desert winds constantly blow so mark used his engineering ingenuity and designed a wall to block the wings which also allowed for some fun extra features when you get out of a pool even on a 100 degree day it can feel very very cold on your skin when the wind's blowing this much so we had to build a wind break to do that since we're building a wind break we figure we must make use of that wall and we went ahead and built two bathrooms with a big storage area and that's also where the slide is the super size slide is accessed from behind the rocks which also conceal a series of swim through caves and waterfalls this is the cave system that's behind the pool it has a lot of unique features it's got this overhead trellis that has the vines climbing over it giving it a real natural feel to it as well as these awesome swim out grottos the kids can swim through or the adults and there's kind of like a mini spa back here that gives you a lot of privacy our next ultimate pool wasn't planned but a minor leak in the old pool led to a major renovation we went 15 years with the original design and then because we had one leak in the spa we ended up doing the whole backyard work began immediately to turn the plane pool into a fabulous splash park complete with a full length lap lane for the competitive swimmers in the family and i told the designer said i don't want this to be a big bathtub i actually wanted to swim laps in it there's actually a t on both ends so you can see where to do the flip turns and and then there's just a line of tiles every couple of feet sometimes it's difficult to maintain a straight line so it's easy to look down and see where the tile is especially in our pool because it doesn't have any straight lines in it even with no right angles there are no wrong turns in this backyard beauty pool designer dan ramos built in plenty of relaxing features and lots of places to have fun this spa features eight jets we also have a couple of calf jets down below help your legs out after that long run we wanted a spa big enough that we could fit at least four people comfortably we have solar panels on the roof to heat the water when the sun comes out it actually increases the power of the pump [Music] hey miesh had jerry to do a backflip okay [Music] this homeowner knew exactly what he wanted when it came to designing the ultimate splashable pool when the pool was originally being designed i worked with the pool builder and there was a couple of concepts because of the slope of the lot i wanted the hot tub up top off the master bedroom and then i watered waterfalls down into the pool from there and then i wanted at least one major waterfall feature at the far end of the pool with possibly a swim under grotto the large lot allowed construction of a one-of-a-kind multi-level pool and designer joe depalo made sure dave got everything on his wish list starting with a spa floating above it all he had a pretty large covered porch so we actually entered the pool from the porch with a descending staircase onto the deck and connected everything with a a stream where the water traversed down the stream into the pool the water flows from the hot tub into the main pool through a series of waterfalls crossing over several hidden coves and caves we elevated the spa so that it was four or five feet above the pool and the water that came off the hot water falls in the spa put water back into the pool at our next pool the heat doesn't come from the scorching sun it comes from the blazing tree that doubles as a super splashable slide [Music] we wanted the fire pit something they could jump off of something they could play maybe a slide or a big jumping rock shelly and ryan took their simple wish list to pool designers josh allred and adam show and told them to let their imaginations run wild since shelley had asked for a fire pit josh and adam knew fire would play a part in their design but they also wanted to make a big splash with something no one had ever seen before one day at home i thought of a really cool idea with a tree that might be on fire for her kids to slide through took it back to the office the next day drew it up on the white board there's nothing cooler than fire and water ask for a simple fire pit get a remote controlled blazing pool best surprise ever [Music] you
