The BEST Training Aid For Hitting Driver Straighter (all clubs really)

foreign definitely missing a fairway getting me in trouble now I say that's a bad one compared to some of the shots I can hit with driver it's not actually that bad but we know from Modern launch monitors that where the ball sets off is incredibly close to where the club face points and the path the club moves at creates a shape but Club head with driver is King and if you get good with that ability to deliver the club head pointing in the right direction you've got a great chance of hitting the ball more accurately and potentially a little bit further because the ball is going to stay in the air the correct length of time but very very hard when that club head is moving at the speed it is around your body to get a feel for what that club head does and that's where one of the pieces of Kit I use with my coaching and my own game is hack motion so this is a sensor that attaches to your wrist you put a sensor as well on your hand and that way the more extended your wrist gets you can see the more open the club face is the more flexed your wrist you see the more closed the club face so there's a direct relationship between that lead wrist position and where that club face is now if I were to hit a normal shot for me we're going to see on trackman what the shape of the shot is and I'm going to show you where I get that address at the top of my swing and really importantly where I am at impact and we're going to see from there with the little training on the app can I improve my awareness and my feel of how I produce that wrist position to control that club face better so if I went for kind of my stock shot which would be a draw foreign a little bit out the toe which is going to accentuate the shape but again you can see on trackman lots and lots of shape okay so when we look at the app there we can see at address I had 32 degrees of shape at the top I had 43 so I was very cupped or extended at the top and then by impact I actually got into a decent position at impact so strike punished me but an awful chain big change from there to there to get my impact back so first thing I would do is I would hit another one see if I can get that strike a little bit better to give me a bit more feedback on what's been going on but I've always kind of struggled hitting left so if anything over the years have worked on hitting a little fade so let's hit one more kind of stock one is that one a little bit lower off the face so again we can see it address 27 36 but -18 so really really bold through impact so I think the big thing for me is making sure I'm always a little bit that way at the top of my swing but it's about being more consistent at impact so what I would do is I would click on here go to audio feedback at impact and if I get my wrist angle in the right position that's the audio feedback we're going to have so we're going to tee one up and I do love this for feedback because I think feedback's key for golfers if your feedback's not accurate you don't know whether you're working on the right stuff so I would set up swing to the top swing down and can I get that feel definitely for me I normally feel a bit more that way and we can see they're kind of minus 10 minus 11 so there's all the compensations out there need to make in order to get back so I want to feel back back down into impact that definitely feels for me like my hands looking a little bit more up rather than down at the ground and I do love the audio feedback like I said really really good and particularly when you're not have access to something like trackman which most golfers don't this is a great bit of Kit so there's two there's the player and the pro the pro one there's a little bit more information but the player one's fantastic they are I think it's 495 995 good at controlling the club face so we know where we want to be rehearse that feel again so that's where I want to feel and if I can get there we should see a much more straight golf shot so in a setup okay so the shot was straighter so we can actually see even though the shot was straighter actually impact wise I wasn't fantastic with my wrist so that's fine didn't feel that exaggerated but that's the important thing feeling real so maybe just over compensated and did some and something else well in my swing there so let's go again let's try and feel [Music] and we definitely see because I'm so ingrained being kind of that way with my swing finding it harder at the moment to get that feel so again let's try and exaggerate the feeling through the bottom foreign they are much straighter golf shot and we can see on the app even though I'm not quite there with the position I need to be I'm getting much closer and as a result we're starting to see less and less shape and I always always be the first to say you know try and hit driver dead straight is tough but the more you can work on the feeling you need foreign feel my tendency wants to go that way so it's trying to keep through there more impact so let's go again let's see if we can get that wrist and that club face into the area I'd like it to be so again a little bit more exaggerated not the perfect strike by any means but that's the first one there we can see where I've been good so starting to see a more playable golf shot because I'm in more control of the club face because I'm more aware of what's going on with that lead wrist so let's go one more see if we can get another one absolutely perfect [Music] no I felt like I went a bit back to my old way I've turned over a little bit you can see 11 degrees Bode so need to exaggerate again let's see if I can get one more in the green but for me this is key if I get good with this for driver this is the difference between my shots being fantastic or end of the world it's about being more consistent getting the ball in play good [Music] and that is a nice straight one so we can see a dress 32 degrees at the top maybe just a little bit more exaggerated than I needed it to be but impact good and again if I should bring that shot up on screen with driver we can see if I can aim at the middle of the Fairway it's almost like a Rory McIlroy Drive nice and accurate but like I said feedback is key if you can control the club face that's great but for me that ability to understand how that lead wrist is controlling the club face the more control I've got there the more awareness I've got from getting good feedback means I can hit more accurate drives get in play more often lose less golf balls and enjoy my golf more than ever
