it's all you can vegas hey everybody it's derek and catherine and we're here at oscar's steakhouse at the plaza hotel in downtown las vegas now oscar steakhouse is named after oscar goodman the former mayor of las vegas and it's famous for one of the best views in las vegas right there of the fremont street experience it's also famous for steaks so let's see what there is to eat they've got steak served a la carte certified angus beef and usda prime filet mignon prime rib tomahawk ribeye new york strip and a rib cap all the hits in fact this place has a real retro vegas vibe they're playing all the hits from the rat pack era and it's a real throwback here in las vegas love it so you got the drink menu here what looks good to you and this is the signature cocktails list we have anything from goodman's legacy a perfect gin and tonic all the way down to what intrigues me the most the his honor it's what the mayor drew the mayor drinks bombay sapphire more bombay sapphire and a slice of jalapeno all right so you can drink just like oscar goodman that's right we're going to start with some appetizers they got salads shellfish i mean i like my shellfish cooked like like in in the form of a crab cake so how do you feel about that i think we have to get anything called the johnny quinn's crab cake yes so we'll get the crab cake and uh a salad perfect yeah i gotta start with a salad and a steakhouse right yeah the oscars chopped again it's named after after the former mayor oscar goodman perfect get the chops out all right we got some bread look at that three different types yeah all right i want to try that but i also want you to try your drink it has just arrived just arrived at his honor bombay sapphire more bumpy sapphire and a slice of jalapeno that's what the mayor drinks that is that is a lot of gin it's a lot of gin straight bombay sapphire earth a little bit of jalapeno it's his honor and if it's good enough for the mayor it's good enough for me cheers i'll wake you up is that the good stuff it is the good stuff awesome all right now let's get to this bread okay it looks pretty good so there's there's there's all sorts of seeds on it and then here oh i see so that's the same oh okay so it's two types of bread right right this weekend it's like an olive oil great and here's some butter it has like poppy seeds and sesame seeds and sunflower seed too good i really like the cocktail it's very strong it's strong it's good it's good you'd like to try anything else please let me know downtown smash is one of the most popular tips oh is it okay i'll think about it we work on this one thank you this is good it tastes like all those seeds you get a lot of the sesame this one has olives in it that one is real good the olive one okay thank you wow all right so this is the crab cake and this is the chopped salad great wow it's beautiful okay this is the oscars chopped salad with avocado tomato cucumber and russian dressing russian dress down here is the johnny quinn's crab cake with stone ground mustard and citrus remoulade you see a big crab right there i gotta try the crab cake first one that's really big ready okay that tastes so good that's so fresh tasting mmm yes and it has that it's that the crab cake flavor like that you dream about that's in this one and i like the mustard too yeah you're right maybe that's what gives it that dreamy quality i think so that's good stuff how about the salad let's try the salad okay russian dressing very mm-hmm all right here we go the onions are a nice touch the fried onions thank you it's so hard to decide which one of these is is my favorite because this is a phenomenal crab cake but this is a pretty phenomenal salad too yeah let me give you some crab cake while i'm at it thank you very much you're welcome what do you think what's your favorite yeah i gotta give it to the crab cake all the crab cake i gotta give it to the crab cake i don't know i was i was getting close to giving to the salad but yeah i think i'm gonna give it to the crab cake it's just it's it's just got everything you really want in a curve highly recommend it his honor i highly recommend the crab cake i do too and the salad it's all good very good my good dressing is really good on this i really like the dressing too yeah it's a russian dressing it just pairs well with all the components and the fried onions it's like it almost has a throwback taste to it with the fried onions and everything yeah so hopefully the steaks and everything will be just like traveling back in time for those days of the rat pack in las vegas well this is a steakhouse so what are we gonna get for our steaks now i have had my eye on the rib cap it's 52 manny's 9 ounce rib cap and that's because the rib cap is a rare cut it's like like the surrounding part of the rib eye the cap and they have it here at oscar so i really want to try it and you were looking at which one i'm looking at the rib eye oscar's 24-ounce bone-in rib-eye and i'm not only getting the rib-eye i'm going to get it oscar-style right right so oscar style is very interesting preparation and i think it's appropriate to get it here here's a steakhouse and you have the plaza so oscar style is is a topping on top of the steak right jumbo crab and asparagus and bernays right it's not named for oscar goodman oh yeah no it's it's named after like a king king of sweden or something yes and that is uh sixty seven dollars for this for the ribeye and the oscar style is an additional uh there it is eighteen dollars so how's that how's that gin you know it's great i would have never thought of putting just a slice of fresh jalapeno in my gin but it the fragrance of it and the taste of it actually really helps make this even more palatable and it's delicious gin by the way so how you feeling do you think you have that do you have that uh when your face turns bright red the asian glow yeah think about the asian glass do you have it i don't feel like i have the asian blue looks like you do leave a comment below does katherine have the asian glow i don't think i beautiful and the rip cap thank you so the general manager ivan has kindly offered us some oysters to try offering you up some oysters to try i i i explained i'm not not really a fan of oysters these are stellar bay yes yes catherine loves the oysters and yeah he said they had a special stellar bay uh type of oyster that she had to try so very excited about them and he included of course some champagne no net cocktail sauce and horseradish he also said that i ordered my rib cap perfectly because i ordered it medium and for this cut medium is the preferred way to have it cooked now he also said that this is actually this should be cooked medium rare but we also ordered this one medium so we should try them yeah let's try it yeah don't want to try the oysters first yes all right so maybe you can even uh explain how you even eat these things all right yeah i'm definitely no expert on oysters okay well i'm going to take an oyster and you have a choice of three toppings here actually four maybe five oh yeah we have we go from left to right we have a champagne mignonette cocktail sauce we have a little bit of tabasco here horseradish and some lemon so what i'm going to do is i'm actually going to apply lemon to the oysters right now because that's how i like them yes yeah let's put this up just a little little squirt of each i'm going to try this oyster with the mignonette first the champagne magnet got a nice little spoon here apply a touch you don't want to try anything no no more for me again these are celer bay from the northwest you see that there what does it taste like it just tastes very fresh it's like fresh seafood just cold and chilled there's something kind of rich about the oyster too and i love the champagne mignonette with it it's kind of a little bit of a tart contrast to the oyster now ivan said that he prefers his oysters that don't taste like the sea at all that's more like i could maybe get behind an oyster like that but usually i mean i've had oyster once or twice and uh it's always just been horrible see i love a raw oyster i love a grilled oyster i love a cooked oyster actually i have had a grilled worcester we had them in new orleans and they're pretty good i'm going to try the next oyster ivan style he recommended just lemon and a touch of horseradish and tabasco yes just a drop i think he said no just a drop so according to ivan he likes it with a bit of lemon which i already put on a touch a drop a drop of tabasco and a little bit of the horseradish not too much you want to overpower it so there's a little bit of horseradish on top ivan this is for you i like that heat from the tabasco and the sharpness from the horseradish yeah i am tempted to have this this last oyster myself it actually looks no i can't say it looks good but you it it looks like it looks like a good oyster if you it looks like if you love oysters i'm pretty sure this is probably one you would love and you do love water i love oysters all right thank you [Music] i love it the oyster paired with the champagne mignonette for the shallots it's perfect combination all right well if you come here to oscar's steakhouse get the oysters get the oysters and get the steak let's try ourselves oh my god we have to eat our steak got to cut into your rib eye yes a rib cap excuse me all right going into the gotta split this we can share it oh yeah that's about how i like my steak right there medium i'll let you have this part thank you yeah i'm going to cut into the rib eye we're sharing everything except the oysters except the oysters oh this is a big cut of meat amazing how does it look it looks great inside let me just look at this it is a really big cut okay roof gap wow like the perfect balance of fattiness and meatiness and char wow that does it hits every note that satisfies any meat craving yeah it almost kind of melts in your mouth it's like so but it still has that meaty meatiness you know that when you chew it just enough good the char wow well now i want to know what yours tastes like i know me too the oscar style rib eye yes i know i like rib eye yes how do i i like rib cap yes yeah it has like a bernays sauce that's kind of been you know hold on i hit them okay i hit a piece of bone so okay i'm getting ahead of myself he's very excited he's very excited as am i okay here we go that's perfect too in a little bit different way though it's a little sturdier yeah than the rib cap which it does have a more meltiness and i love the bernay sauce with it yes yes that is perfect it'd probably be perfect without it oh my god that's really good let's try this oscar style like that's right okay it's crab meat asparagus in a bernay sauce that asparagus is excellent in the grenades okay let me try this time these big pieces of crab too i mean just yeah i gotta have an oscar style that's good we have sides as well we do have cream spinach and mashed potatoes yes i really think these are like the two perfect size to have here at oscars because they are also kind of throwback dishes especially the the cream spinach i mean can you think of a more classic decal side and cream spinach and potatoes it's perfect let's see let me give you some potatoes here yes please thank you and i'll give you some spinach yes please thank you that's some cheese yes thank you very much this rib cap is so amazing look at that that rib cap is excellent yes i use mashed potatoes okay oh that's good that's so creamy it's all butter buttery yeah it's just a classic classic taste it really does feel kind of like a throwback the thing i like the best about this oscar style presentation is just how amazing it looks i mean already the steak looks incredible then you have this grenade sauce and asparagus and crab just like sitting on top i love it i think we're about at that time where well i was gonna say dessert but actually you'd like another cocktail i would i'll be getting the downtown smash with deep eddie vodka fresh lime muddled strawberry and blackberry look at the color on that there's also a little slice of lime on top a very good like a fruit punch a little bit kicking do you feel like you're in downtown because we are in downtown that's the downtown smash i recommend for when you're in downtown not as much alcohol as the other one no that one that was just me this is a string straight from a bottle yes there's a little bit here there's a big bone but there's a still put some meat here and it's such a good rib eye i imagine it's delicious without the oscar style topping you see it's perfectly cooked medium here but the oscar style topping of the asparagus crab cake the crab and bernays this really enhances the flavor of it it's delicious i highly recommend because it's like a nice gift cause you don't see that often yes i know i don't think i could ever go back if i ever see it i think i'm gonna have to go oscar's time well now it is almost just about that time dessert time yes let's take a look at what they have for dessert now this is probably their most famous dessert here it's the deep dish chocolate chip cookie they've also got new york style cheesecake carrot cake chocolate cake creme brulee red velvet cake and assorted ice creams and sorbet thank you wow this is the deep dish chocolate chip cookie a la mode and this is the new york style cheesecake can you smell that that's freshly baked fresh baked you have the aloe mode ice cream on top and it's melting into the cookie yes and this looks like a perfect like classic new york cheesecake but we gotta try that oh yeah oh yeah trying to dig in together yes so soft wow wait wait it's hot it's hot but ice cream is cold i didn't get any ice cream oh my goodness you didn't get ice cream there we go here one more time that's better oh yeah every bite with the ice cream oh that's perfect it's gooey chocolatey and it does taste like a like a super healthy soft chocolate chip cookie this fresh bake is so hot definitely have it with some ice cream oh that's good wow how about some cheesecake let's try that try the cheesecake dish crust the cream pepper patch just over the side of strawberries all right getting some crust too hold on oops got it all right here we you know that actually does that tastes really authentic because it's not overly sweet it's not overly sweet that's the traditional new york classic cheese yeah it's like this one is definitely like a nice smooth creamy not too sweet not too certain and that one is like gooey and chocolatey and like super i think they appeal to two types of cravings whether you want something hot and sweet or something creamy and kind of mild almost yeah i'm grateful with them me too oscars steakhouse at the plaza in downtown las vegas there's a lot to love about this place from
