hey what's up guys Kyle from our our buildings and today we're talking about the Kubota [Music] so today I wanted to talk about the Kubota skid loader because it is probably or it is my most favorite piece of machinery and it is my favorite tool on the jobsite it is so versatile and it makes my day so much easier and makes my back a lot better when outside working with these heavy Timbers like we do day in and day out so I thought I'd do the video I've been asked so many times to talk about the skid loader why I bought it you know why I went with the Kubota versus you know the competitors and I'm just gonna kind of run through some of the specs that are associated with this machine now I will say that this is the 90 - - so the 90 - - is not made anymore I think I actually got this during the last production year and they were kind of crossing over into the 95 - 2 's and that's basically that was forced upon Kubota due to the tier 4 final emissions controls and all that other stuff that came with the diesel and the death engines and basically I didn't want to be any part of that so I went with the 90 - to this machine right here is 92 horsepower it's got all sorts of power it's one of the the biggest machines that I could buy at the time horsepower wise but that comes at a cost this machine weighs like almost eleven thousand three hundred pounds so it is a big machine I used to have a gale 46:25 that weighed like five thousand pounds and you could almost throw it in the back of your pickup truck you know one thing about this machine is when you get into a high horsepower heavy machine you also have to know what you're going to be hauling it with but we'll get into that later now at speeds you can drive this thing at five miles per hour when you're in low gear and it also has a high gear which allows you to go at about 7.3 miles per hour the hydraulic capacities on this I don't have the high flow because I don't really think it was needed for my application I'm getting 25 gallons per minute with this in standard flow and I don't know what the high flow is but I do know that unless you're running some really demanding attachments that really require that almost everything on the market that I thought in the possibility of meeting in the future I could get with the standard flow hydraulic requirements what I really loved about this machine when I started looking at it and facts you know besides the fact that it just looks really good I think the capacities this thing is able to pick up and operate at three thousand pounds so that's a pretty substantial amount of weight and that's not like its capacity that's what it is recommended to operate at it can actually lift up almost six thousand pounds and I mean I've done that before I've had to lift up full bunks of lumber that weigh in excess of five thousand pounds and put it on my trailer and it doesn't no problem I mean it's always very impressive the capacity it has and what's really nice about it is it's very stable because of the tracks now I know if you guys follow me and you guys watch some of the build series you're always seeing us with this tool and attached to that big tell a boom that I use to to lift trusses walls whatever and you know this machine is rated at close to nine thousand pound tipping capacity so even though it's not rated to work with that much weight it won't tip over very easily and that's why I always feel so comfortable putting up those trusses on the end of that boom you know even though they only weigh probably 500 pounds that's still what you got to think about that lever and the way it pivots off the front of this machine you know you got to have a machine that's capable of putting up those weights and being stable while doing it another big I guess benefit to having this machine for me personally was I really wanted to go to tracks because I used to have a wheeled machine and not only is it super uncomfortable to drive over rough terrain but it just leaves ruts everywhere with this machine and the tracks even though they're not the best track out of the factory I believe I think there's a lot of better options out there I mean I'd love to hear from you guys if you run a track machine what a good track is because I think that's one of the things that I would like to look at in the future because these tracks aren't that great in snow they're not that great in super swampy conditions they do spin quite a bit but what they also do is a great job going across my clients lawns without doing any major damage so they're only putting down like 4.3 pounds per square inch ground forest which is really it's considerably less than a wheeled machine so that was another big reason I went with the tract machine over a wheel loader that I used to have now as far as other specs you know I mean it's gonna I think this is an 80 I think this is an 80 inch bucket if I'm not mistaken so it's gonna fit between almost all your standard skid loader trailer wheel wells if you've got like a tilt deck like I've got unless you've got a straight flat top like gooseneck over the axles or something it's gonna fit between almost every standard trailer axle it's got plenty of ground clearance almost 12 inches of ground clearance on the underbody now remember this is the 90 - 2 you can't buy this brand new anymore but there's a lot of used versions out there if you're looking to get into a track machine I definitely would recommend this I however would like to get into that 95 because even though I would go to that tier 4 final diesel motor with the death and all that other kind of nonsense that comes with it such as a little bit heavier machine a little bit longer machine a more expensive machine I do gain almost 500 pounds on the tipping load capacity I gain almost 1500 pounds on the operating load capacity and the standard hydraulics go from a 25 gallons per minute up to 40 gallons per minute so at that point I know I'll probably be able to run anything and everything regardless of what the attachment is so obviously if you guys are gonna follow along in the channel who knows maybe sometime later I'll be able to do a review on the 95 - - but for now this is the machine that I love and it works great so let's talk about some of the pros and cons of this machine and kind of what I've experienced the last three years because I have owned this for about three years now now the biggest Pro that I want to talk about and probably the biggest reason that I bought the Kubota over its competitors is I could only find two machines out there that really had this style of a cab and one of them being the Kubota the other being the Kotaku chi which my excavator runs he's always ran and I've always loved it so that when I started looking at Kabuto it felt really at home and they're locally serviced by me so that was a big plus but this cab what I'm talking about is the visibility I feel like among most machines this big box door the door slides from above your head and what what that does is allows you to you know if you've got the arms up halfway and you got to get out you don't you don't have to you know take the door off its hinges obviously to work in a nice warmer day or whatever but you've got the ability to just throw it above your head now that does come with a couple negatives I feel like sometimes when you're taking it up and down it is pretty close to your head but you get used to that and the other being when it's closed and you're trying to get in the machine it doesn't always want to go up and stay you've got these locks that you can engage to keep it up fully but honestly once it kind of clicks into place it just stays up there really well it does a little bit of rattling that yeah you can take care of if you do engage these two locks but I honestly never really have that big of an issue but the door is a huge thing for me I'm the pro category because nothing worse than having to slam a door all the time and if your arms are just slightly elevated it's just a pain in the butt and you guys if you've ran a skid loader you probably know exactly what I'm talking about now like I said visibility from where I'm sitting I can see very well if I'm cutting into some ground and I want to be you know making a nice grade I can see exactly what I'm doing there's all sorts of room in this cab I feel like you know it's just really nice big and boxy and in general I feel like Kubota with the pressurized cab it does a really nice job keeping a lot of the noise out when you do close the door all the way let's talk about some of the negative things about this cab though one being really associated with the heating and cooling now I know I'm complaining about something that seems kind of you know menial having heating and air-conditioning in your machine but it is really nice definitely but how they've done it you've got your arm bar here that you got to put down in order to operate which isn't another nice perk I like that I don't have to put a seat belt on to operate it I can just throw these arm bars down and they're nice and comfortable but your heating controls and your air conditioning or underneath of this and it becomes a real pain you can't really see what you're doing it's like a super small complaint but this guy right here this is basically housing all of your controls or your your vents so you've got this vent that is almost always pointing right at your knee you've got one that comes out here especially if you got a defrost your glass in the winter and it's down all the way and then you've got this guy there's really nothing over on this side of the cab which you would think no big deal this tiny cab these will definitely heat and cool the entire cab really efficiently however this will get so hot or so cold that this side you got to turn it down and over here you're getting nothing and so your feet will get a little bit chilly in the winter time believe it or not I just think that it's a pretty I would think simple design to shoot some duck to over here somewhere and I know that's a super small complaint this machine was not made to go out and work hard and enjoy the creature comforts of air conditioning however if you're gonna do it I think you should do it well another thing that I do like though about this controls is everything's kind of right here you know your hydraulics your parking brake your auxiliary hydraulics your lighting and it's very simple it's not overly complicated you don't have this big control panel up here in your frame which a lot of competitors do and I think that takes away from your visibility because all the controls are up here on the frame and you know with the Kubota by doing everything here they really maximized your visibility which is a really big factor I think we're always working in confined spaces inside our buildings there's guys around and visibility is key for safety so I think that's a really big plus that you should consider when looking at your skid loader is to get in the seat and not just see what it feels like how this he feels but what do you see and how do you operate it and how will it work for you so that you can really do a good job of being safe and productive we're always working overhead so kabuto got this nice sunroof here that you can look out of I mean it doesn't open obviously or nothing but it's just really nice I can always look up and see what my load looks like and big window in the back I've got a rear-view mirror so I can just when I'm backing up see everything so once again visibility is a really big deal with this cab and that is like the biggest selling point for me because you got to be comfortable when you're doing your work so obviously mine came with the radio that's a nice perk got a speaker here speaker here you can really jam out to some tunes while you're working but that's probably about it for the interior [Music] so like I've already told you I don't have the high flow hydraulics however what this machine does have is a pressure relief valve so what's really cool is if you've got an attachment and you've used it you unattached from it and it's got pressure built up in those lines what you're able to do is as you're pushing the attachment hose ends into this coupler here it actually can release the pressure and it makes it a lot easier and a lot of times I can just do it with one hand so that's a really nice feature another nice feature about this machine is it's got the quick attach which I think most machines are going that way I hated jumping in and out of my machine to attach to my bucket or Forks or whatever so with this you can just basically line up to your attachment hit a button and it attaches automatically it is super slow and sometimes painstakingly slow in the winter when you've got really cold hydraulic fluid so something to note I was kind of disappointed in that and you definitely have to keep these greased I'm having a problem right now with my right side sometimes it doesn't want to always fully engage or disengage and I think it just needs a good grease job which talking about grease points basically every point on the boom the arms has a grease point and it's super easy to access so there's really no good excuse not to grease the Machine I think every 10 hours they recommend it on the tracks which I just brought this home from the job site to clean it so you can see how much garbage is built up there's a nice little access panel here that allows you to keep the tracks tightened and that's just as easy as using a grease gun as well now I don't do a ton of service on this machine I actually I actually leave it for the Kubota dealer near me they do a really good job of taking care of me so I dropped this off every spring I let them do all the oil change the hydraulic fluid filters all of that stuff and I'm told it's a super easy deal I just you know what I'm not a mechanic I'm a post frame builder I stay busy doing that I let somebody who's a professional do that line of work but this cab the whole cab can lift up quite easily a couple bolts and you have access to all your hydraulics and all your control so it's it's really a great machine it's super serviceable it's got that Kubota engine that we all know is super bulletproof so overall this machine has been just 100% I've had like almost zero issues I had one seal on my hydraulic coupler go bad that was within I think the first couple months of owning it so that was all under warranty and it was an easy fix it has just ran non-stop and I would totally recommend this machine and I have recommended it to a ton of you that have asked but I do hope to maybe upgrade in the future and I would love to hear your guys's opinion if the 95 if you've ran this if the 95 is worth the upgrade or is there a different machine to look at personally I want to stick with the Kubota it's been so good to me my local dealer has been really good to me and I just got nothing really bad to say so hopefully this helps some of you guys if you're looking for a machine maybe give Kubota a shot they just came out with their new 65 which is an even smaller machine they've always had that 75 which is kind of the mid-range 70 horse machine and actually that was what I was originally gonna buy but I just wanted the capacity of lifting with this machine so if you're around the house and you got a little farm garden that you need a machine for I'd look at that 65 because I think the specs are quite impressive for what it is and I don't think you can never go wrong with a Kubota now before I forget the most important thing to remember is if you are going to buy one of these heavy machines you got to make sure that you've got the right trailer to haul it with because most standard skid loader trailers are not capable of hauling this with any attachments safely down the road so maybe look for a future video down the road about trailers and maybe how to pick the proper trailer to haul your machinery I appreciate you guys hanging around and definitely make sure you guys hit that subscribe if you haven't already and hopefully you enjoyed this tools day but I'm gonna get out of here we'll see you guys next week [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music]
