The best Overland trailer you can buy

okay and audacious claim I know and but I promise you it's not click bait this may be the best Overland trailer you can buy when I began searching for an Overland trailer about 15 months ago I uh I looked at Patriot campers Turtle back all the you know big names out there and looked at all the specs and poured and poured over videos as many of you probably have done then I came across a place called Nut House Industries a medium-sized shop of fabricators in Morrow Ohio these guys are incredible they do a lot of work on Jeeps custom work and that's the the name of the game with this trailer is custom they will do whatever you can dream up they can probably make it happen for your trailer now this peanut trailer looks big looks military because it's built on a four by eight frame rather than a four by six or a five by eight rather than four by six so it's quite large and it looks heavy but it isn't it's 1400 pounds empty and without the rooftop tent as you receive it with the rack you know um without an awning a rooftop tent I added that myself they will Source all of those things for you if you would like they'll build it up so all you have to do is turn the key and go or they will do it to any level that you want what makes this so special well one it's entirely aluminum there's so little steel on here it's almost hard to believe this front attachment point is steel it's a roll and lock hitch obviously the Jacks are steel everything else stainless steel you know the hubs there's Timber and axillus axles so there's a ton of ground clearance and everything else is is pretty much aluminum aluminum rack which lowers by power that's an option it will go up like 2 20 inches 23 inches something like that and get your rooftop tent even further off the ground it comes down for travel um so I want to show you a few features I think really makes this the best the tongue box I've seen many Overland trailers with a very small little tongue box holds a 11 pound propane tank you know single battery not this one this thing is huge I'm reaching all the way to touch the bottom it's the full length of my arm you can see these are vents they're each vented you can vent them as you're going down the road this is the electrical side I have a 200 amp hour lithium battery I did 90 of my electrical I had Nut House wire the 110 and the inverter um powered Outlets which I'll show you in a bit but I put all my own solar charger AC charger and and DC charger in as well as an s-pod system the 200 lithium amp hour battery and a 2000 watt inverter and uh I got this late in the year like mid-september and we were rushing to get out the door for a trip to Maine so when I got the trailer home I worked a week to get it all functional as such my wiring is not as neat as I would like it to be so I won't show you that right now but I'm using victron mostly victron gear as well as the red Arc DC controller and again the Bantam s pod and uh the inverter the inverter is a gold power 2000 watt inverter so this is huge and also on this side and we'll show you that check it out yeah that's two two 20 pound propane tanks you are not going to run out of propane okay if utilities are important having enough propane and enough power which I think is extremely important if you're going off grid your kitchen has to be probably your second most important component of your Overland trailer now the Nut House he does things a little bit differently they don't use a lot of pull out kitchen stuff because in my opinion that limits the trailer's usefulness with this type of kitchen you have I have a partner steel stove mounted here and their griddle which is awesome in its own protected area here and Nut House fabricates all this aluminum and welds and forms and CNC cuts it and the workmanship is exquisite I'll get into that in a minute you have a few compartments here I have all my coffee stuff here we have water in this compartment and uh you can see this is a quick connect that can come off and attach to the other side you could put a faucet on here whatever you'd like so this is really really functional yes there's no sink and I I kind of travailed over that at first but then I thought how many times do we wash dishes um in the woods not that often we often use heavy wax paper plates or or we just have a few things my wife and I and we can you know rinse them real easily and you know wipe them and dry them and we're good to go when we want to do pots or pans we have an you know an expandable dish pan we fill that up or put some water some warm water and and use that so rather than that sink taking dedicated space we find that this is much more efficient and versatile so this is um double Pandora's extremely solid this box is all aluminum and um invented and we have power outlets we put in here here is Shore power 110 short power 110 inverter power wonderful the slide out fridge the slide itself was manufactured by Nuthouse and it is amazing it is so cool um you kind of have to see it firsthand but we went with an ice coat fridge which we had opens from both sides kind of cool and there's a little area left in the front where you could make a sandwich or put a few food items we really like that as well we have controls in here I still have to mount my s-pod controller I just have it sitting on the water tank for now but to Kitchen yeah the kitchen is so versatile and we totally we love the design and the way that you can uh you know do just what you want you're not boxed into a a specific design these are 35-inch tires and the tires and wheels and axles are really major component that I think puts this at the top of the food chain for Overland trailers the Timberland axillus axles they use are 5500 pound axles but somehow they have them arranged so they have a 3500 pound torsion um spring set or whatever the rubber torsion suspension and so it doesn't tow like you know a wagon train they have a softer suspension but the large large hubs give you a huge drum break and also large bearings which will last forever these are AEV wheels and uh or method rather they're method wheels and I you know everything's dirty I'm on a trip so sorry about that but these they will match the wheels and tires to whatever you want they'll match your tow rig so you don't need a spare yeah everything is custom love it still on topic of Wheels the spare tire carrier is an option not everyone needs one so it's offered as an option this is a custom fabricated it is not off the shelf they designed and built this carrier themselves it's backed with an aluminum plate and all powder coated even the hinges are greaseable and uh they have some of their own machine work in here it's bolted on like every four inches on both sides so if something ever happens to it you can remove it and and repair or replace they weld where it's important and bolt-on where it's important there behind this of course is the cargo area and this is one of the key features I think of this trailer it has storage gobs of storage we don't even bother packing in any particular order because there's so much extra room and that's convenient you're not everything in its place I understand that but when you have a lot of room you just kind of place it in make sure it's not going to shift and go that is so convenient there's a lot a lot of room in here it's all aluminum one inch aluminum floor I have tie-down rails um on each side to tie things down where I need to yeah the storage in this thing is amazing and that I think is one of the things that puts it at the top you know you take a trailer out there and when you have all pull out compartments you have these little storage spots they're okay but you can put big tables chairs in here whatever you want okay moving around to the driver's side I mounted an ensuite Zips out drops down folds open you have privacy to change bathroom facilities and shower facilities lock back the door we have our shower our porta potty here and all the accessories we might need we have water ports here this one you can plug in there's a short hose that goes into the shower it feeds it with water for the shower and the wand of course you screw on the bottom and the gas supply comes from the uh tongue box to hook up the shower takes two or three minutes and you're ready to go these are two ports here for filling the front and rear tanks and this is a Shore connector City Water connection here if you are at a campground or at home this is a large storage box just like the kitchen side with another inverter and Shore power outlet on this side we keep our hoses and utilities and various things on this side compression latches all around black stainless steel real nice this is another big big thing for the peanut trailer or any Nut House trailer but particularly the peanut because it's their larger one um 50 gallons of onboard water storage 50 gallons now you can opt to have none 25 or 50. so I was initially going to go with 25 but I said ah I better go with 50 you never know we're going to pick a take a 30-day trip out west we have to grid a lot so I am so glad I went with that you can fill them separately independently shut one off in other words so that you can balance weight if you need to do that though we found it no problem at all we had them both pretty much full on the last trip we went 1500 miles and no issues of saying toes like a dream very smooth hardly know it's there other than of course you know there's a there's some weight on your vehicle but it doesn't Clank that roll that roll and lock hitch is amazing get that for sure now the the Jack um stabilizing Jacks Are 5 000 pound rated they're enough that you can jack up one side to change a tire if necessary now one custom thing I ask Ryan at Nut House if he could do for me was take the handles off because it takes forever to you know up and down for four of them and I said can you cut those off and put a three-quarter inch nut he welded it on and it looks like it's factory now I take a little Milwaukee drill and and they go down and up it's so quick very nice and you can then get a handle Jack if you want for a backup so that's very nice on this side of the trailer on the side of the utility box we also have inverter power out so when your inverter is on you can put in an extension cord go to your picnic table run a toaster anything you want to run on 110 the next is power in short power in and then finally an auxiliary solar input I have a suitcase solar that if I'm parked in the shade and I have a spot of sun I can put that suitcase in the Sun and bring in uh it's 100 amps I can bring in about five five amps 100 Watts so I can bring in 5 amps to my battery yep okay let's talk about the build quality for a moment because again I made a claim this may be the best trailer that you can buy for over Landing I want you to see some of the details there are double Pistons holding this very substantial door open the thickness of the aluminum and it seals with a rubber gasket one side from the other um look at the piano hinge on the back of this door if I can get a view of that you see how many rivets are in there to hold that nothing flimsy at all about this trailer another detail are these doors the thickness of the doors they're folded double pan incredibly solid I mentioned the custom fabricated slide refrigerator slide they will make it whatever length you need for or whatever fridge you have the fenders themselves these are little LED marker lights you can see this that's covering the wiring to the LED lights and Str and strengthening the structure of this this Fender which is bolt on so again if you damage it you can remove it and fix it that's great these are toe recovery hooks on each side see if I can get up underneath and give you a view they are bolted on with four bolts in case you need to recover there are the Timber and axillus suspension hubs and you can see all aluminum frame floor everything and a ton of ground clearance all LED marker lights throughout I had them put a little hitch on for a e-bike rack that we have the surface of the whole trailer is sprayed with a rhino a rhino line coating it's a sort of a from the same company it's formulated a bit differently but everything is sprayed with this again it's a little dirty from travel but really nice one last thing here the winterization uh Center here if you call it that is marked it's cut out of the aluminum laser cut showing which way you need to turn the valve for normal operation the pump and down to winterize you pull this tube out and sucks your RV fluid through your system and this is the drain and the pump these these water tanks are covered with aluminum on both sides and CNC cut markers so you can tell where your levels are the top of the tanks are reinforced and all of the work again is incredible very very well built trailer so again I think this is the best Overland trailer you can buy and the price point uh you know is feature for feature I think much better than the competition and uh you know you tell me in the comments below do you agree disagree what do you like not like anybody out there have a peanut trailer like to share notes we have camped in this uh my wife and I 12 nights recently and temperatures
