The Best NPC Mods To Overhaul Your NPCs In 2023

Skyrim would be nothing without its amazing world and the characters that live in it so I think it's important that we take some time to overhaul the NPCs to make our game much much more immersive this video is divided into chapters so feel free to skip to any section you want but let's start by making them look better so I usually make my characters look [ __ ] gorgeous but I understand that anime beauty standards are not for everyone having said that I think we can all agree that vanilla NPCs are just not it for most female NPCs I have the Bella's blessing a mod that changes the appearance of over 233 female characters making them look somewhat like real people they're definitely not ugly but they're not like plastic perfect either this also makes them look more varied and you'll also be able to easily differentiate between them one example where I see a massive Improvement would be with Red Guard characters which looked like Nord characters with simply a darker skin color and now look at Sadia she's looking amazing for the male characters we will use 2 two mods as bases I'll start with sons of nerd and Whiterun from the same mod author for an overhaul of the male characters in White Run the reason for that is mainly yarrow Ballin I mean look at this sexy masculine Nordic Aura now preventus is also pretty interesting making him look somewhat mischievous and I like this style I do believe that some other NPCs like the male companions don't look as intimidating so I will override this with male NPC overhaul changing 102 male NPCs all around Skyrim and luckily enough it doesn't change Yar Baldin and prevent us so it works out now you can see some improvement everywhere and I can't really show every NPC although I would like that but these two mods will act great as a base when it comes to Children I'm using RS children a mod that makes them look way better adds new outfits and accessories and actually makes the children distinguishable because in vanilla it really feels like they use kage bunch in no Jutsu and pretended to be different people there are a few mods that change children like this but this is honestly just my personal choice now let's take a look at a few mods changing some non-human races the male and female draconic Argonian textures making them look less like weird aliens and more lizard-like now with thick scales now this mod is perfect if you want to role play as the suck I would like to thank all the new models for today so thank you Nina Marco and Leonardo you guys are not fired for the khajiits I have tears fur textures along with cover khajiits to make them look extra fluffy and soft and cuddly and also gives a new definition to catnip and lastly for this section I have bossmer NPCs have antlers like they do in ESO creating even more variety in the models of NPCs I like this as it's pretty configurable you can set the probability percentage to 100 80 or 50. I personally have 50 just because I don't want everyone to have antlers not everyone needs to be that cool you know now they might look good but they're still pretty stupid so we need to change their IQ a little bit with some mods so in terms of AI I have ai overhaul a huge mod changing the NPC's daily schedules making it less scripted and less predictable if you were to follow someone without this mod you would see that they always pretty much do the same thing but this mod changes that adding more variety to their daily activities and their interactions with items you can find them shopping simply walking around randomly getting something to drink or to eat read a book I mean hey maybe I should follow that example also they will not randomly interact with you as you walk past them as often which is just thank God for this I'm really sick of hearing people's life stories when I'm just out for a walk in terms of dialogue let's start with more to say so Skyrim has a lot of lines of dialogue and maybe like three voice actors if we bring generous so it would be nice to have more options to trigger those lines to play or any other relevant lines of the same voice type and that's exactly what this mod does it takes lines with the same voice type and uses them more for example if you're looking for directions you can now ask guards what their local recommendations were and in combination with AI overhaul those lines won't just be thrown at you randomly when you're not looking for them you can ask for blessings from priests you can also brawl with nazim to get your revenge also yes nazim's looking fabulous now then there's the massive release ship dialogue overhaul adding more than 5 000 lines of voice dialogue that's like 16 times the detail okay maybe not it's like eight percent of vanilla but that's still quite big you'll have even more to talk about with friends followers spouses and Rivals and it will also restore some cut voice lines and Company out here with this mod friendly NPCs will simply be more friendly and will talk less like strangers house cars like Lydia will treat you with more respect your wish is my command as always idiots will have more insults to say to you you get the point what are you staring at then we have the Lions expansion series from Jay Serpa what these mods do is that they add more dialogue to random NPCs from certain factions the dialogue is realistic and adds a lot more variety to what vanilla offers I'm still sore where I took that Arrow at the moment these mods cover Bandits Civil War soldiers Force Warn thalmer and vampires this land's tough and unforgiving beautiful too then we will take a look at another series by again Jay Serpa being the NPC's react series making the NPCs react whenever you make certain actions what manner of magic is this stay away from me go cast your fancy magic someplace else these mods now include reactions whenever you mess around with necromancy and invisibilities wow how did you do and finally for the most simple one we got vendor comments making Merchants sometimes make random comments whenever you conduct business just a cool Extra Touch for that price sure now let's touch on animations which is honestly my favorite part of this overhaul we first got gesture animation remix an amazing mod adding over 50 gesture animations that trigger their own dialogue making those dialogue scenes so much more immersive this also takes into account the NPC's armor their personality and their role in society which is super cool then there's NPC animation remix adding many more Idols for NPCs appropriate for their conditions they would be scratching their heads looking in the distance pointing when using an enchanting table and so on immersive folded hands adding a few more Idols of them folding their hands Lively children animations for some really cool Idols for children making them act more like kids I guess because of their playful nature evg animation variant it's adding even more Idols more variety to some existing animations such as Imperial soldiers having a heroic stance evg conditional Idols that adds animations based on certain conditions these affect the player and NPCs for example you can get an animation where you have to catch your breath when you're low on stamina act like you have a headache when you're low on Magicka act hurt when your health is low you get it Lively car driver animation adding more movement for the car drivers I said it before and I'll say it again I really like these animations because it makes them feel more like humans but they may be a little bit too human now because it does look like they really need to scratch their balls blind people animations adds cool walking animations for blind people because it makes no sense that it would walk with the same confidence as someone who actually sees in front of him I got a little carried away as I said this says my favorite section of the overhaul designs and accessories the detailed MPC series is a great way to do so there are a bunch of mods in this series including bandages equipped spell tomes face masks cloaks of Skyrim and scarves and I highly suggest checking out becoming n plus ones page on the Nexus because they have a big selection of mods just like this but I just showed a bunch of my favorites I really wish there was a mod to put nazim in bandages like this if you know how to make mods you know how you can make me very happy then I would show off handicapped or disabled NPCs from the mihail mod series adding some NPCs with disabilities or other conditions such as relying on a wheelchair having a wooden leg as well as even some mental health issues such as OCD skinny people making some characters especially the homeless ones skinnier than the average body type because they would not have the means to eat as much and on the other end Hefty people making some characters have more weight for the exact opposite reason so basically the rich people would be fatter as a sign of status I don't know if you notice but nazim's not fat and finally probably one of my favorite mods that adds diversity project jakage adding different types of Khajiit into the game if you don't know the khajiits and Skyrim are only one sub race of the Khajiit ecosystem and this mod adds a few more of more colors different sizes and such and when I say different sizes I'm not kidding even the other Khajiit are like whoa and that was actually very quick there you have it guys over 35 mods that will overhaul your NPCs in Skyrim I hope
