welcome to the 700 Club Israeli Defense Forces are ready to move into the last major Hamas stronghold the city of Rafa the military says it will go ahead as soon as the government gives the order and here in the United States anti-israel protests are still spreading on college campuses USC even canel its main graduation ceremony because of security issues still Christians are standing with the Jewish state Chris Mitchell has the latest Israel is prepared to go ahead with its plans to take out Hamas and Rafa despite the disapproval of the Biden Administration Israel is setting up thousands of tents before the military action to provide a sanctuary to keep civilians out of Harm's Way the operation also aims to rescue the remaining hostages 133 hostages are still being held by Hamas in Gaza for over 200 days in inhumane conditions until Hamas releases our hostages the IDF will continue to pursue Hamas everywhere in Gaza this is an urgent call for Action we will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to find our hostages President Biden and the leaders of 17 other nations with hostages in the hands of Hamas have issued a joint statement it calls on Hamas to accept a ceasefire deal that would see the hostages freed and on Israel's northern border the IDF is involved in significant battles with Hezbollah this week Israel hit Hezbollah with dozens of air strikes Israel's defense minister says over the course of the war Israel has killed many of hezbollah's top people half of the Hezbollah commanders in southern Lebanon have been eliminated these are the people who were responsible for the offensive actions the will to harm the citizens of the state of Israel in the US administrators are still dealing with the pro Palestinian protest on college campuses which are sometimes anti-semitic and pro Hamas Israel out of palestin is out of pales one driving factor in young people's anti-israel sentiment appears to be online videos like those on Tik Tok Virginia senator Mark Warner spoke with CBN News about how those posts overwhelmingly favor the Palestinians there's independent analysis done that shows on Tik Tok uh the amount of pro Palestinian posts are 54 to one over pro-israel post now acknowledge American Youth might be split 8020 Pro Palestinian but they're not split 54 to1 but Christians are showing their support for Israel worship leaders Sean FY and other Christians gathered to March near the Columbia University campus Thursday evening Foy told cbn's Billy Hollowell they chose that location because that's where the campus protest movement started before spreading across the country so we want to go to the heart of where this all began and say enough is enough we are rising up we're coming to bring the light we're coming to say we're not going to be pushed around and we're going to join with our Jewish brothers and sisters Chris Mitchell CBN News Jerusalem well here's a story you may not have heard you you you know about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza that uh food delivery is is being hindered and and somehow or other in the news media that's always pointed back to Israel that somehow Israel is at fault here and they're the ones responsible well that's not the case at all they're trying to build a peer so the shipments of food can get to the people of of Gaza and in that who started shelling the very people who were building the pier well it was Hamas they were firing mortars at them and so now the IDF is stepping up and saying we will provide protection for the people that are building the pier uh and that's protection for us that's protection for the US Army they're the ones who been tasked with the job of building that so that Food Supplies can get to the people of Gaza in in this whole conflict please do not let truth get put on its head the entire analysis is backward Israel is not at fault here they were attacked by a terror organization that currently runs Gaza that Terror organization needs to be completely dismantled if you want peace there if you want to protect the innocent civilians there Hamas is the problem Hamas has to unconditionally surrender Hamas has to release every single hostages including their American citizens in those tunnels their American hostages there all of that needs to be released they need to lay down their arms and V will never attack Israel again if that happens then they will absolutely be peace and there will be not just a ceasefire there will be a lasting peace that's what we need to have happen and that's where all the pressure needs to be put it needs to be put on Hamas and any country any individual any group that is providing funding for Hamas it all needs to stop and stop right now in other news the Supreme Court is considering a case involving former president Trump and just like every other case involving trump it could set an historic precedent John Jessup has that story and more from our CBN News Bureau in Washington John thanks Gordon and the central issue before the court is do presidents have immunity from crimes and if so how far does that immunity go the ruling will affect not only former president Trump but future presidents as well an attorney for the former president tried to convince the justices that he cannot be criminally prosecuted for any of his official acts while in while in office cbn's Caitlyn Burke has that story the focus of the Justice's questions to Trump's lawyer centered around how to make a distinction between private and official actions taken while in office in the special council's brief on pages 46 and 47 he urges us even if we were to decide or assume that there was some sort of immunity for official acts that there were sufficient private acts in the indictment for the trial to go for the case to go back in the trial to begin immediately the official stuff has to be expunged completely from the indictment before the case can go forward if you sponged the official part from the indictment how do you I mean that's like a a one-legged stool right I mean giving somebody money isn't bribery unless you get something in exchange on the question of immunity Justice Sonia Soto mayor pointed out that the founding fathers considered including this protection for presidents and decided against it they had had state constitutions that granted some criminal immunity to Governors and yet they didn't take it up instead they F they pass an impeachment Clause that basically says you can't remove the president from from office except by a uh trial in the Senate but you can impeach him after so or you can impose criminal liability Michael drian the attorney for the justice department expanded on that same argument the framers Knew Too Well the dangers of a king who could do no wrong they therefore divid a system to check abuses of power especially the use of official power for private gain drien argued the president doesn't need absolute immunity because layers of protections and legal safeguards are already in place the existing system is a carefully balanced framework it protects the President but not at the high constitutional cost of blanket criminal immunity that has been the understanding of every president from the framing through Watergate and up to today conservative justices questioned whether without some form of immunity existing safeguards would truly protect a president against maliciously motivated prosecutors the vast majority of Attorneys General and Justice Department of attorneys are honorable people and they take their professional ethical responsibilities seriously but there have been exceptions right both among Attorneys General and among Federal prosecutors we we are not endorsing a regime that we think would expose former presidents to criminal prosecution in bad faith for political animists without adequate evidence uh a politically driven prosecution would violate the constitution it's unclear when a decision will come down on this case but it will likely be end of June early July Caitlyn Burke CBN News Washington all right thank you Caitlyn well Virginia governor Glenn yunan has made education one of the the top priorities of his administration he recently visited a school in norfol which provides Early Education for children from all backgrounds as Charlene Aaron shows us he also took time to make a special dedication in honor of a member of our CBN family as a strong advocate for early childhood education Lisa Robertson served as a founding board member at the new E3 School in noruk while Lisa passed away last year a new literacy lab in library at the school will ensure that her Legacy lives on during a visit to Hampton Roads Governor Glenn yunan highlighted the work of a new Innovative learning facility that's mission is to elevate Early Education schools like the new E3 School uh and their Innovative curriculum are making a huge difference a difference first lady Suzanne yunan says is critical over half of our Virginia students in K through 2 grade are at moderate to high risk for reading difficulties Lisa Robertson wife of Tim Robertson and daughter-in-law of CBN founder Pat Robertson dedicated her life to making a difference and helped create a school working to improve those numbers since its opening in 2014 the school reports that during the 2022 2023 school year class scores exceeded those from other Virginia classrooms co-founder and president Lisa Howard credits Robertson's involvement for that achievement she was instrumental in our success and she was such a Believer on how important the first eight years are of a child's life and that if we could give them a strong Foundation that they would be off and running it really gave me a love for like just looking around and exploring it made me interest in lots more things that I probably would have if I didn't come here Lisa Robertson was a true light to all of us [Music] [Applause] [Music] sh in her memory the school's preschoolers joined in the celebration of dedicating the school's Lisa Robertson literacy lab and Library her family present to witness the special event we got to choose a few of the books that go in the literacy lab so The Little Engine That Could the Jesus story book Bible these books that we know she loves so much and she read to us but now future children and future Generations can get that same access is really special Lisa Robertson will continue to to be a light and it's uh exciting to see that light passed on a generation of generation with the literacy and Library capabilities that are going to be presented to all students um but I think it's more than just a room it's actually love and at the heart she believed in the most fundamental uh foundational principle that after God we love each other and she just truly loved and it was that love she poured in to children to make sure that they in fact had the capabilities and the skills to fulfill their god-given aspirations a legacy sure to extend beyond the walls of the classroom she cared a lot and invested in younger mothers and teaching them how they can you know do these activities or share their faith um with their children I think she would really love to know that she helped to create a school in this literacy lab that are supporting the children and supporting their parents too Charlene Aaron CBN News reminders of a life well- lived Gordon indeed a very aive very well- lived and that was just one of the things that Lisa was involved in and it created a pilot program and and now I I hear over 4,000 uh preschools have adopted the curriculum that was forged in that effort she was on the board of director she was one of the guiding lights of it and it's wonderful to see that her light still shines congratulations Lisa well done good and faithful Serv
