The Absolutely DEMENTED Reason For The Wild Hunt - Castle Lore - Clan Lore

ah yes welcome back my friends i am castle this is my tavern and the last time that she was here you wanted to hear a story about the wild hunter ville de aguettes of pagan mythology the grand procession of the honored dead and the glorified gods throughout the time of yuletide but we were cut short in the last and now i'm sure you want to know what is the result of the wild hunt why do we do it why did the gods hunt during this time well take a seat grab a drink tell your story [Music] uh if you are confused the last time you patrons gathered here in the tavern we told the story about the vilde young the wild hunt and what exactly it was but we were cut short on our time and didn't get to quite get into the ramifications of the wild hunt well that my friends is what we are doing today as was mentioned last time the wild hunt is a procession of the honored dead with the elder gods and what our family and keep in mind that this is the story that's been handed down by the tavern keeps this is our tale of the third diy the wild hunt the last time i told you that they hunt down the boris sonnerghotter the son of alter in some parts of the story some ways that jesus told is an immortal boring that's the version that we tell here in the tavern now admittedly there are some versions where it's just a bore and the bore that is sacrificed out here is called solar gulter sort of the norse pagan version a pardon in the turkey during you during thanksgiving here in the united states where i am now that's the first reason why the wild hunt is performed of course to shorten the winter and bring about longer and more prosperous spring and summer months however there is a more or more devious and dark side to this story it has to do with those dishonored dead who walk the earth those lost did now as i mentioned in the previous story the valker the hunters of valor they participate in this all of them as do the ban shi and the dullahan these are the harborings the harbingers of death throughout all of scandinavia and western europe so what would happen if they were occupied during the winter months for an extended period of time well the dead would walk the earth if there was no one there to collect them so one of the functions of the wild hunt is as all of the clans from around right about they also kill the undead that they find wandering through the woods now it is an important motif in most mythologies from around the world that when ghosts walk they usually walk in forest this is common in japanese folklore as well as chinese folklore very common in central american folklore that spirits dwell in the forest and if you have read any of the stories on the aoshi which i have uh some of my family stories on the aerosheam berries the total they darden up in the cards here and i have an entire playlist waiting for you at the end of the story forests are a concentration of the spirits so as the gods ride through the forest searching and hunting for sonar they kill the dishonored dead they reap those dead that are walking through the forest but if the hunt goes on for too long then those who die will still become dishonored dead and there will be more to hunt in the following year but if the hunt does not go on long enough again there will still be more because those that were still wandering that were not met by the procession are still allowed to wander so it is in good measure that the hunt should take about two to three days but if like this year the hunt takes their new years then those that have died between now and when the hunt began this time next year will be walking the earth and wreaking havoc upon those who still live now a question that i got from many is why is the wild hunt so focused on western europe if there are versions of it from all over the world now keep in mind the versions that appear all over the world are not always called the wild hunt as a matter of fact they're usually not that is just within our lore that we call them the vilde young at the wild hunting all of the clans of the world create that procession together that is clan lore that is not world lore keep in mind that there is an important distinction between the two however the reason why it is always focused in western europe is because the winners of the velda yaga the winners of the wild hunt are usually the likes of orphan skadi aran or freyja and nudens now the reason for this is actually one of my favorite things about the wild hunt in our stories and that is that the master of the wild hunt is the great horned god who some of you may know as que nunos que nunos cheats now carnous is a very neutral god but he also is one of the very few who does not necessarily obey the bounds of morality that we place upon most gods even so much as the gods have their own sense of morality here nunos has a much much different sense of honor and morality in the sense that his primary focus is to preserve the forests so by keeping the prosperous months in western europe he ensures that the forests of his centralized territory the trees in which he guards stay overwhelmingly healthy and prosperous this was believed to be the reason for the density of the forest in norway that led to the beautiful boat culture that developed amongst the viking geru and the yum spikings which by the way if you would
