the other day we were climbing the bleachers at my son's basketball game and in the middle of like exchanging pleasantries with some of the other parents around us one of the other parents said something about dreading tomorrow the ballgame was on a sunday and i heard him say it but i was legitimately confused i was like wait why do you what's tomorrow is something going on tomorrow like i thought maybe he was like having surgery you know or something and he was like no it's monday and i was like oh i love mondays and i've always found that this is like a really interesting thing between entrepreneurs or people who work for themselves and people who work in the corporate world and so i actually shared this story on instagram stories that night and i was like i think it's sad that so many people dread mondays like i think it's sad that that is the culture we've created in this you know in america at the very least but probably around the world that people dread mondays and that every single week people wake up and are like oh my gosh i have to go to work five days out of the seven and they hate it and when i shared this on instagram stories it definitely opened up a big conversation a lot of fellow entrepreneurs were like yes this is why i left corporate and then a lot of people who have not gotten out of corporate yet or have you know would like to but don't know how came up in my dms and i've had some awesome conversations where most of it is people who are like i would love to quit my job but i have no clue how to do that like i have no clue so i thought it would be fun because this is the same advice i give to anybody anywhere ever who comes to me and is like i want to quit my job but i have no clue how to quit and start my own business i don't have any skills this is the exact same advice i always give to those people so we're going to talk about the four best side hustles that you can start now so that you can get out of a job you hate so that you can quit corporate and stop dreading monday so that the side hustles can become your main hustle and mondays are a fun day hey howdy hey y'all what is up welcome back to my channel i am so pumped that you're here but i'm also so pumped that i'm here so if you don't subscribe to my channel you may not have seen on my community tab or on instagram stories or whatever but i filmed a video a couple of weeks ago it was my eight streams of income that i have and i was like going through my streams of income i filmed that video and on the day that i filmed that video i felt terrible like i just did not feel good and i filmed it i got it edited i got it up but then i everything went downhill from there i got a fever i got a positive covered test all the things and i am on day 15. i am 15 days past that day or 14 days past that day and while i'm probably like 90 better this thing knocked me for a freaking loop i can tell you that i wasn't that like sick as far as you know like a cough or congestion i've had a coughing congestion but it was more the fatigue that came along with it load y'all like i just i was very tired but i'm good now and i'm so excited to be back to filming videos so if you're new here that was a really long-winded intro i'm sorry but now we're going to get into the meat of this video we're going to talk about side hustles today and let me just give a little disclaimer i think personally that the perfect side hustle checks a couple of boxes one of those boxes is that it can be done simultaneously with whatever your job is now so generally side hustles take less time than a full-time job obviously that's why it's called a side hustle and also they can turn into a full-time job and they can be better later when you have more time to grow and market and all the things so these side hustles are specifically for you if you want to quit your job there are things you can do while you're still in corporate or still at a job that you hate or whatever that will allow you to make money on the side create a business on the side that then opens up the door for you to be able to leave which i'll be honest i think it's the goal all right the first side hustle i want to talk about is a really broad overarching one that encompasses a lot of different side hustles essentially but it really depends on what you have skills for or what you could do and that is to start a service based side hustle now i'm mentioning this first because i think it is the easiest one and it is the quickest path to income if you think about you know affiliate marketing or selling courses online or digital products or any of the other things that i've talked about on this channel in the past and that you often see creators talking about in a way where it's like that's how i make money you have to have a larger audience to make those numbers work for you so you know if you're selling a 20 product it's gonna take selling a lot more of that twenty dollar product to get to a point where you can quit your job then it would if you charge two thousand dollars for a service right so when it really comes down to we've gotta create a side hustle that's going to get us out of our job i always say to start with a service there is no world where you need to be looking at building an instagram or worrying about you know creating a course or any of that especially if the goal is i need to make money and i need to get out of this job quickly so the first side hustle here is to create a service based business now what does that mean you ask well what skills do you already have that you could turn into a service so i actually had side hassles the whole time i was in corporate just because i really enjoyed having a little extra money and then also because my job was boring af and i needed a creative outlet so i was doing graphic design as a side hustle in corporate and then i was also doing photography for a while as a side hustle and that's because those are things i had skills in i had been doing photography for years i had taken a ton of classes i had the camera like all the things and then also in college i had really found a love for graphic design because my major was in advertising and we learned all the like adobe programs and all the things so i had the skills to do those two things as a side hustle on the side and then when i did make the decision to quit my job i actually started with a graphic design based business and then taught myself web design because the two and two kind of go hand in hand and i knew i could make more money that way so those were skills i already had in my back pocket and normally when i say this like what skills do you have that you could turn into a service people have so many excuses or reasons or whatever and it's always i don't have any skills and i'm like you're doing a job right now you have to have a skill to be able to do that job what are those skills it may not be like surface level obvious but we all have skills that we're using right now to do our jobs right and so you may not have a background in photography or graphic design or whatever but you have skills in your current position so you all know my husband just recently quit his job he actually like quit and started his business in october and he has made the same or more per month being self-employed as he did working in his full-time job that he had been at for 12 years and it took him a long time to get to the point where he even understood what he could do for money because he was so tied to the model of my skills are for this job and this job pays me when he could absolutely take his skills and turn them into a job and so for him he has a bachelor's degree in construction management he was a building inspector for our county for 12 years he literally has every state certification you can have for inspections and safety and building and all the things and like he loves it he's very good at it and like that's his thing and so he took those skills that he got in college somewhat but then also honed over 12 years and turned that into a service-based business where he's doing project management pricing and consulting for construction jobs so that is how you kind of take the skills you have and turn them into a business are you currently posting on social media for your company maybe you could be a social media manager do you do accounting maybe you could be a bookkeeper are you an assistant or an administrative assistant or something in that realm where your normal job is you know taking care of tasks or answering emails you could be a virtual assistant so there are a lot of ways to take the skills you currently already have and turn them into a side hustle and honestly that's the most lucrative and quickest path to being able to make enough money to quit your job because you can charge much more for those types of services than you can charging twenty dollars for something here or making two dollars off this affiliate sale or whatever okay so quickest path and number one best side hustle to give you the availability to quit your job is a service of some sort using your existing skills all right so if you're like a crafty person you could totally start an etsy shop i actually think this is a really great way to start a side hustle if you want to do a physical product and you have that like crafty type skill because etsy does a lot of the marketing for you you could very easily grow an etsy store and have a really successful side hustle without ever having to have an instagram or a facebook or anything to promote it because etsy does a great job of showing people what they want when they're searching for things and using algorithms to like show people what they need when they're browsing etsy so if you don't know what etsy is it is basically a maker's marketplace so if you're making like those acrylic cups you know that are like kind of shaped like this but they're shiny that all the people are making right now all the people on my facebook page are making if you're making those you could start an etsy shop and you could learn etsy seo and the strategies of etsy pretty quickly and you could have a fairly successful shop you could make wreaths or handmade signs or leather goods i mean like literally anything that is physical you can actually sell digital products on etsy too and i'll get to that in a minute but any kind of physical product that dives into the realm of crafty you could totally do with an etsy store and you could actually make really good money i know people who started on etsy or who are still on etsy who make really great money from the crafts that they already were making anyway and i think that's a great place to go if you like to work with your hands and if you have a craft that you can sell so again quilting or acrylics or t-shirts or graphics or stickers or like crocheting or knitting i have purchased curtains on etsy just anything where you can physically make it and you're making it handmade one by one you can get on etsy and you can start a shop now it's not just as easy as it used to be it used to be that like you could make the thing get on etsy start a shop and it would do pretty well without you really having to do a lot now it is pretty saturated but that doesn't mean you can't still grow and be successful the biggest thing now is that you really want to understand etsy's strategies and seo and all of that good stuff and there are so many resources like here on youtube or just with a quick google where you can figure out what you need to do with your etsy store to make it show up at the top and be more successful this next one's a fun one if you want to sell physical products but you yourself don't want to make physical products and that is getting a wholesaler's license and selling things retail either by reselling on things like far i said fartbook on things like facebook marketplace or even being like a vendor in a retail store now if you have been around a while you know that last year well in 2020 late 2020 i rented a building here in my town and i turned it into a youtube studio and then it was just way too loud to be a youtube studio no matter what i did it was right on the street it was an old building there was just a lot of like problems so i flipped it into a retail store and then i ended up selling it just a few months later the retail model that i flipped it into was one where each of the items in there for sale were in there by vendor so there were people bringing in items who were retailers and who had like wholesale accounts you know and bringing them in and selling them as a retailer in this retail store now there were also handmade artisans but there were a lot of people who had their like wholesale accounts set up through different well-known brands and would buy things at wholesale prices and bring them in and be a retailer and it basically shaved off all of the overhead for those retailers they didn't have to have a store this could be something they did on the side a lot actually most of the vendors i had in the store this was their side hustle or they were just starting out or whatever and so you could sign up with a t-shirt company to buy their items from them at a wholesale price and then you sell them at a retail price in the retail store and you make the difference right or you could sign up with really anything that would allow you to sign up as a retailer and get their wholesale prices and resell them in the store so there are a lot of stores like that in the world i'm not the only one who created a store like that there's like three in my downtown area and i live in a small town so i know you have them near you so if you want to get into something like that or your dream is eventually to have your own retail store you could do that in a way where you're buying wholesale priced clothes for instance maybe you want to start a boutique and you start small by buying you know 100 pieces at first and you're just then selling them on facebook marketplace or you're just then selling them inside of a retail space that allows you to rent space in their store so that can be a really great side hustle if that is something you want to do all right last but not least this is one that i think a lot of you who are watching right now aren't wanting to do because i know what y'all are watching on my channel plus other places on youtube and that is to start a youtube channel and or be an influencer in some way now starting a youtube channel is a lot of work being an influencer on instagram is a lot of work you know getting into this industry is a lot but it is absolutely something you could start while you were in corporate and grow to the point where it would afford you the ability to quit your job and that's what we're talking about right so you youtube may not be able to be your full-time job yet but it could easily be a side hustle that can help you make money through affiliates and sponsors and things like that that will get you to the point where you could quit your job and i'm bucketing all other like influencer platforms under this as well so it could be tick tock it could be instagram it could be really anything that would allow you to gradually build up an audience and eventually quit your job from your side hustle and honestly i think being a part-time or side hustling youtuber or influencer is a great way to start because of a couple of things one you can take it slow and you can see what you enjoy creating content about what people resonate with what you should do all of that but two you can also actually see if you like it or not a lot of people have this idea in their head that they want to be a youtuber or they want to be an instagramer or they want to be whatever and when they actually get into it they don't love the thing they thought they wanted to love right and so this is a great way for you to do it on the side grow it slowly and be able to you know use it as the catalyst to quit your job or whatever the goal is now of all the options i've mentioned here this one is going to take you the longest unless you're just one of the lucky people who happens to go viral or has some kind of like crazy success really early on but for the most part this is going to be your slowest growth so if the goal is the quicker the better to get out of the job this is probably not where i would start i would again go back to like a service or again you know if you make things with your hands doing an etsy shop and that's where i would start other than this but if you're okay with it taking a while and you know that this is what you want to do and you want to build it up while you're in corporate or while you're at your job or whatever i think it's a great thing to do on the side because it will afford you that ability in the future now the cool part about a side hustle is a lot of times people can start a side hustle while they're in corporate easier than someone who's already quit their job can start a business so let me explain if you're in corporate you're you're making a salary you're making money people are paying you it may not be a lot it may be a lot like whatever but you're making money and so you have a little bit of capital to throw into whatever your side hustle is and so you might as someone in corporate who really wants to grow their etsy store be able to throw some money at maybe like an etsy strategist to help you grow whereas somebody who's already quit their job or someone like i was like a stay-at-home mom who needs to start a business to make money that they probably can't like i couldn't invest any money in my business to begin with because i was broke i was at home with my baby i could not invest any money and so i had to start a business that didn't require investment up front but if you're in corporate you could have a different experience because you might have a little bit of extra income to play with to help you grow that business i used to do one-on-one coaching for people who wanted to start businesses or business owners like whatever right and a lot of my one-on-one coaching clients were people who were in a corporate job who wanted to quit and they hired me as a coach because they knew it would fast track their path to quitting their job but they wouldn't have had that money to hire me as a coach if they would have like already quit and been trying to start like in that way so if you want to quit your job if that is your goal if you are like i need to get out of this corporate job i would highly recommend starting now with a side hustle a service-based side hustle you don't need any money to get started none zero zilch put it out there that you're doing a service and go for it like that's it you might want to invest in some learning or something like that to help you hone a skill or learn a skill or whatever but you don't have to do anything especially if you already have the skills in place so i would always recommend a service based business for most people who are wanting to quit but everybody's different and some people want to start an etsy shop some people want to be like a retail store later down the road so reselling things and having wholesale accounts with companies could be a great way to start and if you again want to be an influencer in some way on youtube or tick tock or instagram starting now and growing slowly and doing everything right could be a really great way to get you to the point where you can actually quit your job y'all honest to pete if i could pick one thing that i wished for the world like just in general obviously i would want like coveted to be gone and things like that but that's not we're gonna go with like something a bit higher level than that if i could pick like one thing that i would want this entire world to know or to do or like whatever it would be that anybody who hates their job anybody who doesn't want to work in corporate anybody who wants to start a business would be able to do that because it truly is life-changing and the freedom that comes with owning your own business the freedom of time and money that comes with being an entrepreneur is worth every struggle along the way so if you have any other questions about how to start a side hustle or really anything in that realm where i could help you in any way quit your job and do what you want to do because that is the goal i want you to do what you love i'm not saying everybody needs to be an entrepreneur i'm just saying that there are people out there who hate their job so much and they're miserable and they have to stay because it's the money that's coming in and i get that because i've been there done that got the t-shirt i want those people if you're one of those people i want you to be able to do that so if you don't want to quit your job then cool right you may just want a side hustle to allow you or afford you the ability to do things and hopefully this was a great list to help you get started too but if you have other questions about side hustles if you have other questions you want me to expand on let me know in the comments below and until next time bye y'all
