The 1932 Ford "Covid Coupe" Is Headed To It's New Owner

hey guys i'm at iron trap garage and today we're gonna do a little uh car delivery adventure so you guys may remember i did a video a little while ago earlier in the summer where i bought the what we call the covet coupe which is the blue 32 ford coupe that had the 57 chevy uh hood as the roof insert which was really cool i bought the car because it was a good deal and really when you find a good deal on a 32 ford you should just buy it and think later and that's what i did got the car home started thinking about i actually started gathering some parts to fix the car in you know my various adventures and the more i thought about is this car and the shrole 32 5 window that i have are kind of similar in the way i would build them and it didn't really make sense to have two of those cars that are heavy projects so i decided to offer this car up with the blown hemi that i had and some of the extra parts that i gathered for the car what ended up happening is a viewer actually saw the car for sale on ebay and facebook somebody posted it on one of the facebook 32 groups he showed a bunch of interest in it we talked for a week or two and i decided he decided that he wanted to buy the car without the engine and just some of the basic parts that came with it kind of like i bought it i made a small profit he's getting the car that he's always wanted and i get one car off of my plate now obviously i just bought another car so i kind of like trading the 34 three window um or trading the 325 window for the 343 window that i got but at least i have a car that is totally different than the 32 that's in there so i can have a little bit of variety with the madness going on in my shop so i need to get this thing off the trailer number one we got to brace the frame i was offering a replacement frame with the car but he decided that he didn't want that or wasn't in his budget so he just asked that i take the car off and weld some bracing on the frame where that hole was where they cut out for the steering box so they can safely make it all the way down to tennessee where he's at so i'm gonna unload the car get it braced up and then we're gonna load it back in the car and take a little road trip about nine hours south to drop this car off to the new owner we'll do a little interview with him and see what he has planned for the car and uh and we'll go from there so let's get started not tall enough all right so i got all kinds of junk in here i got these little volkswagen tires at an auction where we got the hemi stuff and i mounted it up on a wheel just to see what it'll look like and it's way too small it looks uh extremely ridiculous so i will not be using those they were they were like a dollar so it's worth a try take that off and of course i got my spare 32 frame in here which he did not want so i'll be keeping that i got to drag that thing out [Music] okay so so my aim towards that cord yeah okay is it clear now [Applause] there we go all right so we got the car out and what we need to do for jimmy uh he was on a budget when buying the car and couldn't uh justify her for the replacement frame i got so he and i worked together and i agreed to at least brace the frame a little bit for the the trip down to tennessee to him and uh what we're gonna do is just i have some box tubing just like set on top with a c-clamp just to kind of transport the car um but what i'm gonna do is take some angle iron here cut it up and we're going to try and set it over top as far as we can and get the mig welder out and just zap it up and that should hopefully at least give it some strength so it's not going to crumble on itself with the bouncing uh taking it nine hours from here so i'm going to take some measurements or mark off some pieces cut them in the bandsaw and get this all braced up and ready to go [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] so okay come on a little you want bit to grab the other side we're clear here let's keep it right here watch over there so all right so we made it all the way to tennessee we got the comed coop on on uh out of the trailer rolled out and in its new home jimmy congratulations thank you so much probably the most unique 32 that i've ever i've ever come across and i'm psyched that somebody got this and can finish it i i basically made the decision like i put in my ad that i got too many projects and two 325 windows was too much so what do you uh what do you have planned i know it's far away away but if we're pipe dreaming what's the plans for the car well the plans for the engine i have a a 62 283 out of a corvette with three twos and uh and i got a four speed that's so and i've got a buick fin drums so i'm going to get them adapted to it yeah and i've got the banjo steering wheel yeah that was yup so i've been buying parts and pieces and you know dreaming that one day man today's the day you got one that's awesome thank you so are you planning to uh you mentioned you like the washington blue that some of the garnish morning was is that the yeah i'll leave it kind of like it is as we go okay but anything that has to be painted i think i'll paint it washed in blue okay and then eventually get the whole car probably down the washington blue cool so you're gonna are you gonna leave the gm the gm rear is about the same vintage as your engine i believe it's under there yeah um and it would be easy to get a driveshaft i probably got a drive shaft that would go in this room and of course these so cut it short yeah just shorter to the right and i've got a lot of little parts and pieces that i've been saving over the years so that's the way to do it that's what i would say when we was able to make the deal now you know now the work starts yeah yeah fun heck yeah well i'm glad i went to a good home and it's gonna actually get worked on instead of hiding in my trailer because that's what it did since i bought it literally i rolled it in the trailer after we broke kate's fingernail off and that's where it sat and solid yeah yeah and like so like george and i we were driving here he's like i've never even seen this car he's been to my shop a bunch of times really we're driving up he's like i've never even seen the car i never opened the trailer so a bunch of my friends are installed because i stuffed it in the trailer and closed the doors and that was it so now it always gets some love it's out of the weather it's in a group i love it it's awesome i love it so congrats again thank you thank you awesome making it happen and uh we'll post some updates if we get some from jimmy we'll we'll put them on our facebook page and stuff like that so people can see how he's making progress on it so that's all have for this one we got a long drive
