That's Not How We Behave! - Pastor David Crank

[Music] we were at the airport yesterday running late me and ashton and um we went through tsa anybody ever been to tsa and uh there was one guy there that was demon possessed and uh they let me through no problem but ashton they just this guy didn't like her and so he pulled her aside he's going to want her we're already late starts accelerating after they don't see her to want her for three minutes and five minutes and then she started acting out saying i'm gonna miss my flight you got to do something and i saw this i went over and said what's going on and the guy said hey you guys need to be more punctual that was the word and then that started accelerating and he started throwing more advice to me about life and things i should do and what i needed to do and i must say that uh i threw advice back at him it's a little anybody i may or may not have said you know if i ever get to the point to where i start taking advice from somebody like you i'm really screwed up you know it's just going down the lane then i got to thinking about it and i got to thinking that what caused the anger not just in him but in me i understand where it comes from with action i mean she nicole is her mom i'm her dad come on somebody there's a lot of ha in there come on go with me on this right now so but the anger is a reflection of fear i want you to write that down anger is a reflection of fear everybody shout that with me anger ashton wouldn't have been upset if she wasn't afraid she was going to miss the flight we see people going down the road mask no mask vaccinated not vaccinated how you all think some people are so passionate about some of these things they'd soon kill you so if we're concerned about my health to stop by by not shooting me what is that fear almost all anger not all because the bible says that jesus was angry and sin not so we know anger is something that god put in us but uncontrolled anger anger that is accelerated by fear is not the will of god nor will it produce the righteousness of god in your life anger now let's talk about where we're at here's the good news guys we made it through a global shutdown we made it through lockdown stay home shut the church down now not everybody made it okay but if you can say amen right now chances are you made it looks like we made it we made it look at your neighbor and say we made it so that's something to celebrate we made it now i want you to really pay attention as if i were your dad because i had these dad talks with both my daughters my daughter in love and my daughter i have it with my son i invest in them tonight i don't want you to think this is a sermon because it's not it's a dad talk to you i'm a spiritual father to you today i'm a pastor you today and i want to talk to you about the word bickering bickering bickering and strife are first cousins just cousins remember the song uh uh you shake my nerves then you rattle my brain too much love drives up y'all don't know the bible you like bickering no strife no but um well great balls of fire jerry lewis is cousins with another guy named jimmy swagger she might not have known that but their cousins and so one went into the ministry and one went into the bars and then but they're both just regular people but they're cousins so strife and bickering are the opposite of love the bible said that love never fails said that god is love but may i tell you there is a spirit of die vision division not just in our church in all churches and the more you leave it unaddressed the worse it gets so i have many many pastor friends right now that have like tons of them one committed suicide i mean we went diving with this guy this dude went out in the garage and shot himself how do y'all think that's not the will of god another winner he and his wife couldn't get along anymore and then um the church is really kind of upside down because they're getting a divorce another one i'm working i pastored a lot of pastors another one he and his wife went going through a divorce now first of all i want you to understand that we love all people and that preachers are just regular people in fact don't ever put a preacher on a pedestal because here's here's the verse god uses to make sure you don't do that for god chose the foolish things of the world that confound the wise so he found the biggest fools put us to teach you the smarter ones so you should not be disappointed when you find out that we jacked up messed up and we'll talk back to a tsa agent occasionally come on saint louis but the difference between me and a lot of them is i actually tell you because i don't believe in genetically modified food or genetically modified preaching so therefore i just tell on myself and there's a lot of sermons so i got to make up new stories unless i start telling your stories raise your hand if you don't want me to do that you didn't raise your hand i want to talk to you after church and i'm going to dig a little deeper so so what's happening you got to cut the devil off at the pass when you notice at home it starts going because what's in the world will try to get in and corrupt the word in your heart she said i really don't care well you should because the bible said that if love never fails then the opposite of love will fail the marriage will fail the church will fail the business will fail everything fails outside of love and it can be as simple as just getting in a small group our small groups teach you how to behave i came from a long line of people that taught me how to behave but not in the best way i've told you my dad would just slap people and bust out their window take their car keys throw them out in the middle of the hallway in the highway and they would say i'm going to call the cops he'd pull out his badge and say i'm here what would you like me to do my aunts my uncles all of them were telling people off just going off at the mouth they could tell you off man and my dad could tell you off and use bible to do it so i learned that behavior that wasn't becoming from my biological family but just because biologically i came from that then i have to renew my mind get in a group and say that's not the way we behave so sometimes i go no you stop it i physically slap myself stop it if you behave like that i will not allow you to go back in meetings because ain't nobody else the boss of me when i go crazy you'll lose my mind when you start it you're i can do what i want well no not if the lord is your shepherd he is the one who's got the hook and says you bring that back in you're out of control now i know y'all looking at me like you're jacked up god told me to tell you to sign so bickering it has to stop we can't allow it at all so what i'm going to ask you to do and on social media already did it they're releasing it probably as we speak i um i'm asking you for 24 hours just from eight o'clock tonight to eight o'clock tomorrow night to do me a favor or really to do you a favor here's it's very easy for the next 24 hours and i wouldn't want to ask you to do it more than 24 hours because i'm not sure i can do it for more than 24 hours so i want us all to participate and win but for 24 hours i want us to absolutely not you know the text ring that you're on that everybody sends you that says can you believe they're doing this right now don't respond to it and if you're the person that's sending it oh you might have missed this just not i'm not talking about thursday i'm just talking about between now and tomorrow at eight o'clock then when your kids say something you're like well i don't and your neighbor said and you're i nothing not even constructive criticism you say well what in the world am i going to say for the next 24 hours i know this is a new concept that's why i'm not asking you for 72. i'm just saying for for 12. for 24 hours you go no more negative emails not receiving them or replying to because you know who they are you just look at it i need to leave those 12 texts unread because i know they're going to be like can you believe they're doing that can you believe they're doing this anybody know what i'm talking about some of you didn't raise your hand because you just like i don't admit to nothing [Applause] but then there can be a spirit a spirit i'm convinced there's a spirit behind it it jumps from racism to vaccination to here to there and there and so now we have to say as the church we're either going to buy into that or we're going to i kind of like the feeling i get when i go when i think about the lord how he picked me up and turned me around and set my feet on solid ground yeah come on it makes me want to shine hallelujah thank you jesus so you don't say it makes me want to send a negative email to a mouth come on raise your hand if i'm helping you right now just 24 hours luke 6 27 out of the message bible it says to you who are ready for the truth i say to love your enemies and let them bring out the best in you not the worst could have used that in the tsa line when someone gives you a hard time respond with the energies of prayer for that person you're going to be late you got to not be tardy you ought to show up so god i just pray for this brother right now god got to just pray god god when you strike him with lightning today that he would see god you're gonna he's gonna see your glory god just just like that one thank you jesus amen okay verse 29. this is the kicker if someone slaps you in the face stand there and take it if somebody grabs you by the shirt gift wrap your best coat and make a present of it i mean y'all having a hard time with this just raise your hand like i'm struggling petey i'm struggling come on raise your hand you liar i know you're struggling like i want to wrap a coat with a pistol in it and go god bless you here's my oh my god i forgot my glock was verse 30. it gets worse this sermon is just his head in the air flash you're going to need this for 24 hours by the way i did it for 24 hours and i felt so good today i walked around and i felt god and i felt good and i'm like i think i want to let everybody try it for 24 hours just take it for a test ride verse 30. if someone takes unfair advantage of you use the occasion to practice the servant life no more tit for tat stuff that's kind of my philosophy here's a simple rule of thumb for behavior ask yourself what you want people to do for you then grab the initiative and do it for them kind of hard when you're mad all the time barking at your wife barking at your kid everybody went to the gas station you know california by the way it's six bucks a gallon there and on all the gas pumps it says this is not my political view i'm just saying this is the way it is it just says thanks joe biden somebody writes they just take markers anybody seen that on social media thanks joe biden everybody's mad at joe people are mad at trump people are mad people are just walking around just mad tit-for-tat is where is that lady like [Music] florida's very interactive i'm glad there's i'm glad they put you behind that little fence right there [Laughter] but you know here's the deal when there's no fear of running out of gas money you go this is going to really be hard on a lot of people but i believe that god meets all of my needs according to rich the glory of christ jesus so it could go to 22 a gallon and i would pay for the neighbors next to me if they were at pump number five because i believe that god is taking care of me and grand south and i'm not afraid of the world system because i switched somebody out of shot a man to the word system yeah [Applause] verse 32 i love the response to you guys are really good you know when you do preach at other places you just realize how good you guys are when i'm not preaching to you i miss you i miss you like crazy i miss you like crazy when i preach at other places i want to come back to you i miss you like crazy i miss you baby i wrote a love song for you people and you're just staring at me that was from my heart anybody old enough to remember that song five people you probably would would if i hadn't made it sound horrible people like man did you realize that you're laughing like crazy when's the last time you laughed this much and you were sober what's happening your brain is getting dopamine and you're going [Laughter] a while ago you were going i can't believe they're doing that nobody nobody wants to be around that what if our church which is a huge church the biggest church in st louis what if we and we're working out in florida and we started walking around and people know oh clearly clearly i know where they go to church because you're like tsa by the way tsa in st louis is awesome because like almost all of them work at or go to our church they're like pastor david come through i just come through and i'm just like i love it there so give it up for st louis tsa they are the ones so that joy that's what i'm saying so so i i use this today and it'll work for you tomorrow try for 24 hours if it doesn't work then you go back to your old ways verse 32 if you only love the lovable do you expect a pat on the back run-of-the-mill sinners do that if you only help those who help you do you expect a medal a garden a variety of sinners do that if you only give for what you hope to get out of it do you think that that's charity the stingiest of pawn brokers do that but you know pawn brokers are like hate that verse i tell you love your enemies help and give without expecting a return you'll you'll never i promise regret it live out of this god-created identity the way our father lives towards us generously and graciously even when we're at our worst our father is kind i should just say amen and walk off her father is kind sometimes i find myself being kinder to people i like or people that i want them to like me oh that guy like me be kind to him some total stranger come up to me or something it mean to me and i don't go out of my way hey man i'm sorry ashton she told me i spent the last couple days with her with some blessings she's amazing and she's so some people like got in our way or did something and the lady said oh excuse me and actually said that's so weird she said you know you don't see that anymore where people just oh i'm sorry excuse me she said dad you know i don't even do that she said i'm so used to running into everybody i just hit people as i'm going by they hit me and it's just the way it goes i was like i'm totally using that on a sermon because it's true kind is learning i want you to write this down diplomacy at home diplomacy sometimes with my staff or my wife or people that i know love me give it up for our staff and the people that love me love them sometimes you do saturday church and sunday church and everything that's going on you spin around you got monday morning meetings and sometimes i just know it's them so it's not like it's just unfiltered with no diplomacy and the lord started dealing with me about that he said you need to be more diplomatic with those people too short that's when he's told me several times go outside and text your chief of staff what needs to be said because you can't say it appropriately because even when you say it the way i say it i might not even be saying anything mean bad i'm just saying like here's the deal here's how it happens but if i was trying to get a job i would be more like hey it's a good idea if we do this or that how many all that sounds a lot better than like hey guys i've told you multiple times what part of this don't you understand some of you look like i don't like to think my pastor talks like that listen god brought me to you because he knew you would understand me because you're a lot like me because you only see in me what you see in you [Applause] [Laughter] glad i wrote you that love song diplomacy verse 36 one more tom saint louis everybody let's read it together you all ready our father is kind you be kind let's all read it together our father dr fercellar and all of our catholics they love that let's do it again read it together saints our father is kind you be kind [Music] [Laughter] luke 6 36 our father is kind you become my grandson my mother-in-law's here by the way tonight give it up for her and i take liam and i go ah what are you doing boy that's my boy and she said that kid ain't even got a chance of being quiet [Laughter] so mj was feeding him earlier and he just lets out shouts he was eating some watermelon and he just went [Laughter] [Music] teaching him how to preach man i hit the table he goes here's the problem [Applause] after everything i've done for you guys after all the songs i sing you guys like yep we got a problem he act like you [Laughter] i know what you're thinking so if our father's kind it's in our dna when we got born again but the problem is our flesh didn't get born again so it says i like tit-for-tat you slap me i slap you if you're you you set the tone to this a friend of mine building you know it's dean team all the biggest car dealerships in st listen he told me this last week his wife was giving a hard time about something he said hey he said you knew this when you married me i would not have married me i married you [Applause] he said you said a discernment so i just did you're welcome bill get your cars at dean team he knew he knew his wife was kind bill knew he's a car salesman sorry bill made points and he took it right away but sometimes if we're not careful we don't act like our father we go back to our sinful nature with no diplomacy and mostly get this it's probably because we're afraid i'm afraid i'm going to get that so that's why i do that i'm afraid i'm not going to have enough money so that's why i do this the bible says there is no fear in love and the bible says that perfect love casts out fear in other words you're like i don't care what gas goes to my dad's in the oil business i don't pay for gas anyway somebody like well i do no your job is not your source your job is a source your father who owns the cattle on a thousand hills he is your source so there is no fear running out because there's gonna be so much faith in running over so you're not aggravated you're not mad you're like hey you know what it ain't no big deal i ain't worried about that i ain't blaming joe i ain't wearing i ain't blaming trump i'm not i'm not blaming the republicans i'm not blaming the democrats i ain't want to blame anybody you know what all i want to do is tell everybody when i sing about the lord how he saved me how we do that in the airport how he raised me and he healed me to the other most people look at you have you lost your mind i did i didn't like my old mind it was just crazy and it was dirty and messed up so i i got the mind of christ now and now this let this mind be in you which was also in christ jesus and now i will not conform to this world but i've been transformed by the renewing of my mind and my father is kind so i'm gonna be kind and i'm not gonna be afraid come on give god praise today we're almost done you can sit down if you're good looking if you ugly stand up we want to pray for you jp i love you verse 37 we're almost done don't pick on people sometimes i like that people watch i don't know why i'm telling all my junk i should i need to learn to rephrase this and say some of you like to people watch by this i mean that you sit at the mall and watch people and say what was she thinking when she put that on how did he get her i guess he must have a lot of money if you've never thought any of these things um maybe people are saying this about you don't pick on people but we do this at home we pick on our kids i made a decision if you heard me tonight did i say one bad thing about ashley i was saying good things about ashton right ashton did this ashton did this ashton told me this ashton said in a positive light i don't i don't like it when people talk about you know kids today no kids today are pretty amazing without kids today you probably wouldn't have a phone in your pocket and you wouldn't be able to find your way home or get an uber these are kids today back in my day yeah you walk to school and you had a phone with the cord on it and you got tangled up in it and your mama could pick it up at any time and listen to what you had to say with all your stuff [Applause] we got some good kids today give it up for our students and our young adults and rounds come on reb [Applause] we got the best so don't pick on people jump on their failures criticize their faults unless of course you want the same treatment well i don't want to do that don't condemn those who are down that hardness can boomerang i don't want that be easy on people you'll find it you'll find life a lot easier be easier on people you'll find life a lot easier today i just found life so much easier because i made a decision no matter what people did to me i was gonna go i just want one day of just when you're smiling y'all smile and i just i had all kinds of stuff happen and i'd go back in the yeah and i go it don't matter it don't matter i'm making up songs i'm singing just having a good time i felt joy joy unspeakable so i felt strength in my brain we'll talk about that the series coming up it was dropping dopamine hits and i'm going oh i like it and i was actually walking once today to get my ten thousand steps in and i walked past the guy and i didn't even see him there and he was rolling up something i don't know and he was smoking and rolling and he had a bike and i was just praying and i didn't see him and i was like god i think you jesus god i bless you lord ah it's so good and i looked over and there he was and i thought i'm not even going to pretend like i wasn't doing this so i just kept going because i thought he's rolling to get happy i'm rolling and i am happy so let's both of us just oh yeah oh yeah he's trying to get high and i'm already [Applause] so back to that verse it says easy on people and you'll find life a lot easier today i've found life easier and if you'll do it with me say amen to this if you will for 24 hours and you've already got almost an hour done if i keep talking we could get we could preach all the way through this thing verse 38 give away your life and you'll find life given back but not merely given back given back with a bonus and a blessing giving not getting is the way generosity begets generosity so love is patient love is kind we've all seen the plaque right love's not puffed up love doesn't demand its own way love god's love is kind it's tender heart even when people are mean or is hurt so when they're mean our renewed mind goes no no no i'm not going back there because i know that sphere first john 4 18 says that perfect love casts out fear so i'm not going to be afraid because my god is taking care of me and i'm not worried about gas i'm not worried about this job or that job why because i i'm not allowing fear to keep me back if you remember in genesis 3 when when god came in the garden he said where are you and they said they hid because they were afraid they were afraid so we're afraid and we hide from god because we're afraid but when we are led by the spirit of god we realize that i want to be led by god i'm going to be at the right place at the right time and you might even lose over here but you make it over there i see people do that all the time i was dealing with the business guy this week and he said i really want to sell it for this amount of money pastor pray and i go remember god bless you with an extra 5 million on this deal yeah well you might have to let this one go a little bit but you already made 5 million over here if you could just break even and release that give them a good deal well i never thought about that i said well that might be a good opportunity because you know like the world says you can't win them all i'm not saying you can't win them all i say that we do win them all because god works all things together for the good of those who love the lord and are called according to his purpose if you stand up with me real quick it'll it'll get me to shut up it just will come on st louis stand up with me i have a couple questions to ask you how many would say man pastor david that was right on and i needed that raise your hand okay so we know that tuesday nights are so so important and small groups are so important because if nothing else i promise you you won't fly off the handle near as much in the next 24 hours i can bet even on 48 you're going to slow your roll 72 i make no promises about you people just don't but i bet you that the holy ghost on the inside of you will tell you hey hey hayes just calm down doesn't really matter i watch people engage this way all the time i observe a lot i was why i listened to podcasts with ashlyn loves this dad and son and where she listens to them all the time they're they're both preachers great and uh they did do a super job and we were listening and i watched how the dad interacted with the sun a lot the sun would flare up and kind of go and then the dad you could know he's like way older than the sun right so he would go well that's one way to look at it rather than say that's completely wrong i wouldn't do that because then it would cut off the association come here austin i just want to show people how beautiful you are yeah this right here is my prize enjoy right here the man so he was not always this big there was a time where i picked him up and i would carry him believe it or not he's been on my shoulders is that hard to believe raise your hand if you're like that giant of a man yes i picked him up when i met his mama and i wanted to marry her immediately because she was good looking then when i found out i got him i was like i am in where do i sign and i got her to sign a piece of paper that says that she's got to be with me for the rest of her life and i got him but when austin was little and then he grew and he grew in a group our relationship changed in a good way because i didn't try to treat him or my son brian weddle give it up for brian in saint louis brown what so bryant brian started like his dad went to prison and he had a lot of stuff going on but he just kind of raised at the church and he was so smart not what is and he would look at stuff and he ended up being so good that he was the head of our entire global i.t department okay he never went to college but he went to school and if i got a problem he's the guy call but i had to i had to grow with brian because i didn't say that's just brian brian was like 10 years old brian's not 10 okay people in brian's case make big dope they make good money so we're going to pay them good we're going to take care of him again i go i remember brian when he was no no that's what they did to jesus remember they looked at him and they said oh isn't that the this is the carpenter's son so they debase and devalue so i'm talking to people right now that the bickering i had to respect him as a man and it was very easy to do because he's a very respectable man and very very loyal but i didn't see him as a child so he had to go off somewhere else and build a church i said hey let's build a church together because i want your gifts and talents and morgan's gifts and talents to come along see what i'm saying and lift it up so you know whettled the same way so that's just my advice to you remember i told you it's a dad talk as your kids grow they're not five anymore and their relationship has to change and you got to be careful how you talk to them and everybody talks different because everybody sees things differently that's why god had matthew mark luke and john remember when you first got saved you started reading it you're like oh my god these guys are telling the same story so if you haven't read it yet there's four gospels and they're called the synonymous gospels okay it means that they're very similar but different because luke is a physician seen it different than mark matthew so all of us were created with a different thumbprint to leave an imprint so i had to learn to talk to him he has to learn to talk to me austin even tonight he said hey your your ipad is connected to this it might go away and i want you to know that when you get up there tonight so it doesn't tell you if it falls off i just want you to know because austin's just all about the details it's like that's fine it's cool it never did fall away but if it would have fallen away he already warned me because he knows that'll throw him off so i'm saying that the people that love you the most and that's you guys here in florida and st louis we got a job to do we got to learn to communicate with our families we got to learn to communicate with each other we can't just go to another church did you get mad you can't leave this church because you decided to you got to leave the church not when you're offended you got to leave the church when god tells you to and you're submitted to a pastor that tells you no you can't go right now because you keep flipping around sit down shut up get in the group go to church [Applause] i'll come get you i will come get you and drag you back here myself leave here i'll go to whatever church i want no you won't i'm your dad you live here and you're gonna behave as long as you live under my roof you be my sermon i'll be writing love songs to you people come on [Music] be good i love you i want you to know i love you i want to spend my whole life at faith church i don't ever ever want to go anywhere i promise you i won't ever go anywhere this is it why would you ever want to go anywhere when we pastor we built the greatest church together that's rocking the world in fact a lot of you are watching around the world there's no sense in working at home depot and tim buck too get to florida where god is [Music] especially in the wintertime just think about this people get to st louis there's a woman in our church at st louis just moved from l.a i was just in l.a i think it was a smart move okay so people you don't move for a job you move for a church and then god gives you a job which is a source not the source all right come on give god praise today [Music] you
