well man right here square the body you better find him you can't give him space you can't give him room man he can shoot that rock almost as good as you move i've seen you shoot down there in the bahamas oh boy there it is players over 42 from the three-point line they got five guys they lead division one at 43 and you're doing it in a in a power five league it's pretty impressive you know a lot of teams if you line guys up but nobody borrowed them they can't make one out of two basically 23 that's amazing amazing shooting for a basketball team you're wondering why they're undefeated because they defend as flagler well the mid-range jumper there he's just got great touch that kid this great touch coleman off the bounce air ball meyer flips it up ahead and now butler pulls up transition three gets it nothing it's a 10-0 run it's like a layup it's like a layup well they square their body and open for shooting the three good times no doubt [Applause] and that's about how hot right now jared butler his last four games shooting over 50 percent from three they just have so many weapons that's it you can't really contain and say we're gonna go off the butler and get it gonna with three got it what a great story he is i spoke with a fellow with him a couple of weeks ago about it but he wants to get involved with a foundation as we all know the story courageous battle leukemia he wants to do wonders to help a lot of young people so i hope all the people in austin get out there and support his foundation just a beautiful young man he has really returned to florida was called he's an interesting story i hope he stays in school because the kid really has a chance to fill out his body and really become a much more complete player a little inconsistent right now because he's so young and he's just so grew so quickly 611 came out as a runner a jumper out in bahamas great athlete and man he is getting better and better and better he's got a little bit of a little slide right now which helps a lot of players but he's been a factor for them all year well look when you have your 11 scholarship players not practicing together it makes it hard there's jones burying one i mean their prize freshman greg brown you think about it dick he's from the austin area he would have been on campus normally probably around april but because of colbit i mean he didn't really get a chance with summer school or any of that to get that early start so you know the development for so many of these young guys is kind of thwarted all over the country yeah it really is that's a good point you made right here that's what the pandemic has done it's really hurt a lot of clubs we've got these pauses in play that affects him as well brown's going to be a terrific player there's no doubt about it [Music] d at duke coming up this saturday should be a lot of fun yeah it's always a fun game there's no doubt about what a rivalry i don't care what their records are even a real caroline's coming out a little strong right now i think north carolina could go on a running at acc they got a great [Applause] [Music] looked at jones [Music] texas down five 11 25 to go here first half john chomping dick by tao this is the freshman brown and his shot is rejected by samba brown with mr basketball state of texas great family great background in his family played mother zucker was a great one of the all-time leaders and steals it takes out he's number one roderick anderson so he's had a lot of influence there and they say he's got great work ethic looking at scott mcconnell the outstanding this idea in texas and he told me his work ethic is unbelievable he's got a great attitude but there's no doubt he's going to get better and better but you said so well these young kids come in and because of the pandemic and all that they didn't have a chance to get it to leave with one another get that rhythm going i think that's hurt with some teams with all the young kids like kentucky and north carolina tyler's got some young kids in duke wagner splits his defense kicks to mitchell if they move the basketball nicely mitchell gets a three another triple for baylor their fifth it's unbelievable the way to use basketball you said it so well if teams move the ball and get player movement you're gonna get good shots and the game of basketball is about taking good shots like right there that was a good shot three feet from the goal good shot for dale is a wide open getting an open freeze as these guys say oh turnover city right there nice fake look at the ball movement triple threat position a little pump fake to free it and make that pass create space for the open shot they are the best defensive team i talked to rick patino one day and he said the same thing to me talk about a guy that's been hit with the covenant 19 at iowa they've had three pauses 35 days for practicing but the bottom line he said the best defensive tv seen all year is baylor [Music] did a great job stepping in there they love him they said he comes with such energy such enthusiasm plays with feeling you young kids out there play with passion play with pride when you play hard any keep doing life have passion and pride whether it be music hard whatever [Applause] he gets inside t scoop shot they call a block in a foul on texas and macey otieg will go to the line you know they just don't shoot stationary jump shots boom they attack off the bounce you give them space they're going to go to the goal they're going to attack what's the yeah they do it all right dick i mean baylor can beat you at both the offensive end and the defensive end exactly that's why they're in the top five adjusted or offensive defensive efficiency uh they're the only team out there in the top five and both they're number one defensively in terms of the adjustment the defensive efficiency and number five offensive look at this right here three-point shooting number one number one squared margin i mean are you kidding me turn over margin assist every category you have those categories going for you you're gonna be good and that's why they're right now 16-0 and you're ready for this only two teams took them to single digits kansas and texas tech they won them both by eight and i'll tell you this i did the texas tech game eight was really not really how close that game was that game was close with two minutes to go it was right down the wire but they found the way behind their guy who struggled the whole game butler make plays at the end and left with a win but dickie b the one thing i would say is you know we talk a lot about good teams win close games but the reality is that really good teams beat people's butts and that's what they do for the most part you know what i mean like they have not played a lot of close games is there a really good point they don't let you hang with them they don't let you hang a little the last team to win their first 16 by eight or more unlv in 91. remember how good that team was oh that was terrific basketball team driving about stations he's got great scoring ability jones and he said an amazing story battled cancer does will go so many weapons god so many weapons [Applause] baylor on the road trying to pick up a win apparently michigan state game and i'll tell you one thing michigan state and kentucky need an absolute miracle they need a miracle to be able to get into an at-large birth i would have liked to take an odds early in the year and ask people would have been the odds of michigan state and kentucky not be a part of march madness i think the only way they can get in is they're going to win their tournament kentucky was pre-season ap number 10 michigan state pre-season ap number 13. well i know you're on top of it all man you got all this you work hard your preparation come up with those numbers like that well i have my man ivan just whispering those numbers in my ear dick you know defensively like they are and that's a credit to scott drew let's give enough credit to him as a coach i mean this guy has got he communicates well with that he gets them to play has a great personality look at that defensive effort incredible on the floor cunningham he'll shoot it can't hit and the rebound pulled down by sims back out jones [Applause] taylor with the ball five to go first half leading by 11. it is really danger time for me talking about earlier the game down 11 4 53 to go against the club like baylor they can't afford to allow baylor to go on a spurt here in the last four minutes meyer looking for space couldn't find it jones left hand that'll go there one thing about jones he's a big-time scorer and he has kept him in this game there's no doubt about it he's got all the big baskets when they've really struggled he might have got away with him down here meyer i thought was fouled in that situation that created the turnover jones has 13 of the longhorns last 17. butler stepped back three that wouldn't go i do think it should be underlined the fact that this team talking about texas just hasn't been able to practice together they haven't had their guys all together sunday was the first time in 19 days this is only their second game in 17 days plus their coach was out just think from a continuity standpoint it makes it hard well your rhythm as well you know getting your timing your rhythm the game of basketball i mean there's no doubts that that was a major factor in fact even a couple of kids said it's gonna be tough in a way for them to come back after missing so much time and so much action and that was a fact what you just said right there was really outstanding because it's a fact that was like my bucks earlier in the year when you get a guy like brady gronkowski and all those guys they had no preseason if the one year that you needed pre-season exhibition games would have been this year they needed at least two of them to get a little rhythm but once they got their rhythm they were on their way oh i have not took a box now let's get back to bailly here good job stop me from talking about the box stop talking about the about their defense but a strength is standing out behind the arc yes they lead the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 43 percent six of 11 so far in this game they got floor gamers all over the place you think about coach vitale every single guy they put on the floor from the perimeter can make a play for themselves shoot the three or get in lane and finish well that's really no doubt about it i want to see you guys analyze when you get a chance gonzaga versus baylor break that baby down gonzaga i'm going to give you hey lebron so you're going to coach gonzaga and my guy greenberg is going to coach bella give me a winner come on break that game down baby turn over there and it'll be texas basketball 2 53 to go if they played 10 times dick who wins more well right now they're hearing me and wake up can they hear me down the spoke i think they can offense in basketball gonzaga against the best defense in basketball and plus a team that can also score i think it'd be one great game i give the slightest edge the slightest effort [Applause] unbelievable a nice little jumper right here again another big play by george the situation i love [Applause] i think timmy would be a difference maker in that game he's a future all-american and there's no doubt about the kids getting better but it'll be one great game it's a game i would pay to see and i don't like to pay for tickets i would pay to see it and i get a lot of free tickets to the glory of being with espn i'll pay for that baby to travel on baylor so the turnover gives the ball to texas nine-point game number two baylor this by the way the first time ever that two ap top 10 teams from the state of texas has met have met on the basketball courts the number two baylor chocolate number six texas so one thing when you look at it the bottom line is nixon's got three l's they're all placed games the good teams and what's the villanova in the battle by ford it was the texas tech by a deuce and oklahoma by one but it played without three started three key players rather in that game so i think when you look at them they've been in big time battles coming down the wire bill has not been really tested under that texas tech game in terms of coming down the stretch of that game inside and an offensive foul things going texas way the last minute or so down to a seven point game take another look here oh nice drive along that baseline i like his potential man sims is some kind of athlete you know bill self was quoted to say in one of the games he said he's the best athlete in the big 12 and you have pure athleticism jumping ability explosive they're sitting he's picked up his third foul so that bears watching in the second half sim sets the screen joel's handling texas is trying to cut into true jones stays red hot he's got 18. you know jones gets the three right there shot to like that play but the penetration on the baseline and then they have the vision to find the open man he knew got a game brown limited in the first half dude it's a foul trouble and the longhorns being urged on by their crowd they got fans in the irwin center for the first time in a while that one gets knocked in by about 2 000 people led into the irwin center they haven't had fans for a big 12 game last time that they had fans was around christmas yeah there are some friends and family parents in there and a handful of students checking it out so they said about 2 000 people inside the irwin center i'm one of the new football coaches there well coming into a place where i'll give you every chance to win and the bottom line is you better win john higgins wow did they get an offensive foul they did they're gonna drive to the goal oh yeah he got it right they beat him to the spot beat him against the bigger greg brown mitchell who goes about 6-2 brown and goes 6-9 and the smaller player absorbs the contact you know mitchell transfers with auburn they've done well with transfers getting flagler as a transfer getting mitchell i mean really have done well the transfers want to come here now we're that bailey uniform they need to miss their last game against oklahoma in the covic what else can the kid do every time they have that big lead he makes big shots he's been a big shot maker here in this game andrew jones hit the half 25 for andrew jones they're gonna come with some weekend i've met him a couple of times he's not bad he and i have been bad a little bit about some football and you know he picked his saints to meet my bucks the practice to beat my bucks and what school here he was the number one player in the state he really was such a terrific player what i like about this is the uh cell phones he's gonna shot that ball he drops it off for the easier shot along the baseline the little layup really terrific team in that they're always sharing the basketball great assist find the open man take the high percentage shot defend when you do that when you take good shots and you defend as a team you communicate defensively i mean you got yourself a good basketball team and that's why they're right now sitting at 16-0 number two in america we touched on it earlier they have been blasting teams they have won every game by eight or more points the last team to win its first 16 games in a row to begin the year by eight or more points you're gonna go back to unlv in 91. they get flagler for a push-off don't texas foul [Applause] flagler's guy comes in the big great point he just made here about the 68 plus points they've been blowing people out blowing people the 91 team jerry tarkini they beat that year they beat duke in the championship by 30 points blew them out and then the following year duke shocked him in a semi final a couple of great plays by hurley and near the end of the game and duke was able to win that and then win the national championship on monday raymie going to the basket now a u-turn back out and coleman i know gonzaga fits into a different mold but the fact that baylor's been able to do that just blast teams and doing it in the big 12 and doing a power five conference pretty impressive awesome game there roger ayers says [Music] there's no doubt about that but i'll tell you the one thing about gonzaga people who have critiqued the fact that who do they play who do they beat in their conference look what they do out of carpet still they don't have to make any excuses and any anybody bottom line is and apologize for who they play they're legitimate there's no question about it it would be one great basketball game [Applause] an offensive efficiency for gonzaga and then baylor top three in both offensive and defensive efficiency jones inside shot contested and they get a foul and that will be on baylor [Music] well you got to be physical in this game there's a lot of toughness on the inside a lot of guys to deal with but i love wilson when you look at the feeling because they seem to love playing with each other you know winning does a lot of that john when you have a winning environment it's so much easier to get everybody to be on the same page it's when you lose and you hear a lot of boating and cronin i gotta get playing duck i'm not getting no pg nobody's giving me the rock to shoot him yeah both these teams both these coaches created good culture loose ball chamachacha [Music] these two teams baylor basketball on the possession arrow but they were supposed to meet seven weeks ago they were supposed to meet december 13th and that game was postponed due to covid and speaking of postponed baylor and gonzaga were actually supposed to play and that game ended up getting bagged because of covid so scott drew was gonna find out about his team head-to-head i'm sure at this point he's just managing his own group and i don't think too worried about that i'm sure he's just trying to get his team ready for the ncaa tournament exactly just win the big 12. that's his main concern right now i love the relationship he has with the players i will tell you this give you a little scoop he's going to be one of our honorees at the gal in 2022 he confirmed with me definitely will be one of our honorees helping us raise money for kids his family's got a heart of gold starts with his dad homer his brother's doing a nice job right now at grand canyon baylor leading this one by nine under nine to go texas has made a couple of runs andrew jones has been sensational a career-high 25 for texas but the longhorns right now on the short end good tip away by right in austin he struggled out of the gate red shirted and now all of a sudden he's starting to find himself and contributed he's a tough tenacious player [Applause] i think shotgun did a great job
