back by popular demand today we're going to be testing the cheapest tools on Amazon power tools Edition the cheapest impact driver allow me to introduce the impact driver man talk about a tool that has changed the industry changed the way a lot of us work tradesmen as well as homesteaders when these first came out these little impact drivers they were kind of an add-on to the drill you know you'd get the drill combo kit whether it be Makita Dewalt or Milwaukee and as a little incentive they would throw you a little impact driver but I think for a lot of us and what I've recognized is the impact driver is actually the more useful more handy of the tool many reasons why because the way it impacts it's really superior to putting screws in it puts a ton of torque in it's less likely to strip and one thing that's huge to me it's just so much more compact you can get it into tight areas so these have been I mean I have the two together I have the drill impact driver combo together and nine times out of ten unless I'm drilling a hole I'm going to reach for the impact driver just a wonderful tool so what we have here I searched Amazon we have the cheapest the cheapest one I could find on there was $58 now that was at the time of what I purchased I purchased this on Amazon with my own money for $58 and that's what that's what I got so would it come with it came with came with well kind of a low budget little budget charger I never thought that a black & decker doc Black & Decker box would darken my door they have not had the best reputation used to be a premium tool you know anything about black & decker does they do have a premium line I've got a big macho 5 roto hammer that's built by Black & Decker and an angle grinder that is full on commercial industrial top-of-the-line strength but they also have a very low end line I mean this is going to fall in at your big-box stores your black & decker with what's the other one the yellow one the ryobi is it you know maybe a step above that hitachi lower end tools but you tap the price so this is you know for I think for most you know not talking prosumer use for the makita is probably the gold standard you know I mean it's maybe not up to this stuff with maybe something like like a healty but for twice the price right here would be $120 for this one 6000 say 60 and 120 what we're going to find out today is there a big difference in build quality and strength we'll see how strong this one is but so you get some budget things of course you know here is the charger that's going to come with a walkie you get a big you know traditional-style charger that makes a lot of racket by the way Milwaukee or Makita the blue one why do you have to have noisy Chargers as a YouTube creator it makes me crazy every time I shove a battery and I have to go unplug the thing my other Chargers don't have to make a bunch of noise you know stop it stop it so with the with the Black & Decker you get the just the little homeowner version very it's adequate it works I mean you have to of course you know it takes two hands to put it in but it's not that bad so we do get a lithium battery so that is a sim you know similar so we have the makita but whoa my goodness look at the size difference there are radio on sigh we're on call here look at the size difference so we've got an 18 volt with a Makita we've got a 20 volt allegedly from the lithium black & decker but here's the rub amp-hours 3.8 3.0 amp hours and 1.5 you can see I mean it's a fraction of the size and I would say that 1.5 amp hours is very very optimistic if we just go buy wait because as we know if it's heavy it's good right heavy is good what was the Russian what was it what was it a Guy Ritchie movie with the Russian selling the revolver not what he said heavy is good that used to be viable you can doesn't work and going to skew commuted anyway so there you have seeing see the battery so similar they're they're both lithium but one of them is claiming to be half of what the other one is but it feels a whole lot less than half the weight to me but we will see so build quality I was actually a little bit surprised it was better than I was expecting so if you look here you can see there's a big size difference then the key to being the bigger more powerful allegedly more robust drill but look how much taller this one is one of the things that makes an impact driver so wonderful is its compact size you can get into really tight areas because the drill I mean it goes way out there because it's clutches and all of that that's one of the key selling points for me is to having the compact but that is almost 2 inches longer than the makita from the back of me very similar of course you can see that the gear set and everything and the motorola it looks substantially bigger on the makita than it does on the Black & Decker but overall it's not too bad I mean I it's got this rubber thing on there but it's got a you know it's got a full metal head on it and it's got a this is actually kind of cool there it's got a magnet to hold you fit almost strong enough to keep it from losing it but not quite but it is kind of clever I don't think we got one of those on here but all of them have a light similar in design one thing that it is much nicer is the ergonomics on the makita so it when it it just molds and fits to the hands and everything is very indexable the forward/reverse is very simple to use easy to get to wear this one here it's a little bit crummy it doesn't feel very good the detents not great but that could come you know that might wear in with use this one's got a few more miles on it than that than the black & decker but it's okay overall the Chuck's look very soon was when neuroblastomas got the ridges i don't really care so much about that but it was not as bad as i thought it was going to be I thought it was going to be really really crummy but it's it's okay some of that huge savings of course is going to be the back you know they bless batteries in here that's why it's why it's half the price but but will it work will it drive is strong you know it's cuts it says it's got 20 more volts is that true let's find out okay so yeah that's about it the ER goes are okay it's not good but it's it's not bad it's not that Oh actually I just learn something here so look not taller now we get that big battery on there is it so it's actually this one would be more compact ahead and considered the battery all right let's get some big ol screws some lags and see which one does better so for the test we're going to put the strain on these we've got a big ol 3-inch three and a half inch 1/2 inch lag bolt going in into a very dry hard piece of fur we'll drive it in there with our impact our non-impact socket yes it's not an impact socket you're going to have to deal with it we do need to test snap-on's warranty policy from time to time make sure it's up to snuff here all right let's start with a black and decker this is asking a lot for a little impact drill this is a pretty big screw with no pilot hole but see how it does look at that it's still powerful it split the wood that's not very good all right let's try putting it in the middle this time oh we're out of gas it doesn't want to do it it doesn't like that through at all all right all the compressors on that socket hot that's a lot of friction going on there let's see how the how the vaquita does pretty big that's a big screw for an impact driver all right there we go [Music] that's all she wrote there but a lot more powerful so you could just feel the you could just feel the vibration and they're saying it didn't feel does it feel near as positive or as nice or as well built or balanced as the vaquita did it was didn't like that big lag screw side note though is they did put look at that they put they put Christmas lights inside of it can you see that you could just pick this out at night you have a dance party I didn't do that Nikita doesn't have such a place inside of it not that I can see anyway all right let's go to the ultimate torture test so let's go for a tug-of-war here against Institute this is a this is not my idea here this actually I've stolen this from my what channel I subscribed to AV e I didn't I didn't know about this channel until many of you started recommended him to me not recommended for children but I do like the test but he this is hit he's done he's kind of come up with this where he takes two drills and puts them together and to see which one's going to be stronger here so I'm going to borrow that from my brother I think that that's a that's kind of a good way to test it so yeah so let's let's bring your camera up here and see what happens here probably the bits gonna break it's going to happen here since this is the black and decker Chuck I don't have a lot of a lot of faith in it but we'll find out here so now would be a good time to click the thumbs up if you haven't already oh wait I've got time here I'll wait till you you go down there and click that all right you got that done all right so also but in the comments what what you'd like to see what's the next power told the cheapest power tool we should put up against a good one and I'll get that ordered and we'll do a video on it I'm going to do a few more of these because it is so hot here it's in the hundreds and I put that exterior door in the other day on the south side of the house and the heat of the day and I almost expired from the heat so we're going to be I'm I'm happy to embrace a few tool videos until it temperature drops down a little bit and then we'll get started with our normal programming okay here we go ready tidy ready to go what's gonna happen I get my safety glasses on what's happened in there I can't tell it Oh what's going on here okay that's tarnish well how about we just do it till one of them blows up and we'll see what happens oh I smell smoke oh that's hot yeah the black & decker is not enjoying this this tug-of-war contest here let's give it a little bit more hair oh yeah that's uh it's that's hot now I'd have to say that the I have to yeah it's the smell a bad smell coming out of the out of the Black and Decker and it is we did hot hot hot too hot to touch so that's hot too they're both hot well what did we learn from this so in conclusion here I guess what's my impression on this is hard to say is hot at the bulldog actually it's hard to say I have first off I know a lot about the makita because I've had it for a long time and I have really abused it for example when we put Jack's bridge down in there I was running in those eight-inch timber screws and it was hot that day it was like 98 degrees and I ran in two boxes of them so like over maybe like a hundred screws or so just one after another in that heat and the drill it was almost too hot to touch but it never started smoking it never failed and it just drove screw after screw after screw it was I was really impressed and it was it was literally too hot to touch I had to put in the shade and cool down I have had a couple of these and I've dropped them off of ladders I've never had a problem with them they are an excellent excellent product of the makita's just I have no complaints whatsoever so but they're on the expenses at 120 120 to say $130 or so with a battery and one charger this on the other hand I don't have any more experience with it then then just what we did today but I to say it's a lot better than I was expecting it to do now driving a one-inch lag screw with an impact gun of this size these little ones is asking a lot but the makita was able to do it how many times would it do it I wouldn't you know you're not going to do a whole box of 50 of these but the little one even though it's rated allegedly at 20 volts and has half the battery capability it's still you know it's it got it okay chances are you're going to be driving something more on this size you know maybe more like your three sixteenths quarter inch screws which it probably would do fine especially if you drilled a pilot hole but I have to say just overall build and finish and and usability and ergonomics and all of that it's not that bad it really isn't that bad I will I'm elected to keep drilling with it being the tug of war with it because I think it's pointless to burn it up because this is a tool that I would use I'm going to grab this one first of course but I'll throw this - no I'd bang it and I will use it we can report back on that ha - on how it holds up but for $60 58 dollars I think what it was on Amazon with a lithium battery for just a non-commercial work where you're not going to have to really rely upon a battery that needs to last you all day long if it's just little jobs here and there you know hanging in a picture or putting a screw in or putting together something or working out in the shop I'd say that's probably sixty dollars well spent for just just kind of your your homeowner grade type of tool that that will probably work just fine but I'll try it out and we'll see see how it goes but I have to say it's pretty good it's actually pretty good for the money to get a lithium tool that's an impact driver that this performs reasonably well in my opinion so let me know in the comments what you'd like to see tested next we'll go up against if I don't have the high end tool I will get one and then we'll do the low end and we'll do some torture tests and see if there are any little hidden gems out there in the inexpensive tool market so alright that's it thanks for watching and we'll see you guys in the next video [Music]
