Testimony of a Brahmin who accepted JESUS ! (Part I) - Mrs. Uma Moorthy

praise the Lord my name is Uma today I'm gonna share with you as to how I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ from a Brahmin family background I hail from Chennai I was born and brought up in Chennai India right now I'm speaking to you from the US I was born as the last torture among the four daughters from a very affluent are your family background when I was a Hindu I was such a staunch Brahman everyday I used to go to the temples and worship those idols you can never see my hair forehead without the Vermillion Safran and the ashes that is the booty and the cumin which we call in summer every day I used to read the Condor sashti cover Sun which is the holy book for the Hindus and the best part of it is we all studied in Christian schools and usually in Christian schools Gideon's Association used to distribute these pocket Bibles to all the students now this Bible was very fascinating to me because it was so tiny it can fit into my pocket and every day I used to read the Psalms and the Proverbs just for the literally part of it nothing else I was also worshiping the idols at the same time and I was surrounded with a lot of Christian friends who used to share the gospel to me and I never used to listen to them I just used to take it in this year and leave it off the other year because I was such a stubborn Brahman Hindu in my faith so I'm just stressing on this fact because no man can convert another man because most of them you should say that you know people brainwash you and make up make you as a Christian and things like that but nothing at all no human being can convert another human being because salvation is the lord's only if the Lord chooses you you will be changed so it so happened in the year 1998 when I was doing my 12th standard the school arranged for a scripture Union camp and just for the fun part of it as an excursion trip I planned to join them to mahabalipuram it was the third final day of the camp a sister shared a small message in a prayer group from Isaiah chapter 44 that we cut wood from a tree and one part of the wood we make an idol and we worship it and the other part of the wood we use it as firewood for cooking so if you have brains think and see she pointed out specifically to me in front of the whole group not knowing I was a Hindu and she said if you have brains thinking see so I felt very bad and that night was sleepless so out of a curiosity and out of a critical mind I just opened up the Bible to know what it was was it real was it true so after I went through I got to know for the first time in my life that idol-worshipping was a sin and a true living God hates idol-worshipping it's a sin and the next thing I got to know is you can call this God as my father above father my dad ABBA I was calling the names of a thousand gods when I was a Hindu but I never had a personal relationship like this calling those gods as my father I knew that this God wants to have a personal relationship with you he loves to have a covenant with you and above all I got to know that we were born with sin and that only the blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse us from all sin and that is why the Lord died for us on the cross and he sacrificed himself for us to lead an eternal life with him even after our death so all this was news to me and above all an amazing thing happened which was an greater eye-opener to me that I can worship this from any place in any time however I am whether I am clean or not physically because usually in Hindus when women are unclean on certain days they are not allowed into the temples they are not allowed to do any kind of spiritual things to those gods so I thought the same thing with a Christian God because Islam also practices the same thing as suppose most of the women are not allowed into the mosques but I knew that this God is not that way he doesn't see your physical and cleanliness he just wants your heart you can enter the church any day and pray you can pray from home you can make your home a church you can just talk to him anytime anywhere he does not want you to dip yourself into the Ganges River he does not expect you to climb the Himalayan mountains to worship Him he does not expect your sacrifices but just your heart because he has already sacrificed himself for us he came and he chose us it was on that day that I knew this God and I accepted him as my personal Savior and I just left all my idol worshipping and all my rituals and religious practices and I became a Christian and I wondered why me Lord why not all my other sisters who are much more better than me in everything but why new Lord where did you choose me out of the four then the Lord answered it is always the least the weaklings the worthless that he chooses to put to shame the wise he chooses the big things of this world and he puts his strength in us for his name to be glorified so I understood that he came in search of me tis not me who went in search of him so salvation is the Lord's my friends no man can convert another man and that was not all that was at the end as I started reading the Bible I allowed to go to the church but persecution started along with it I was prohibited to go to the church I was not allowed to read the Bible most of the days the terrace and the restrooms were my prayer rooms but the Lord was with me and one fine day he anointed me with the Holy Spirit and he made me speak in tongues much before my physical water baptism and I was worshiping the Lord from my home and one fine day the Lord spoke to me from second Corinthians 5:17 that if any of you is in Christ he is a new creation the old is gone your past is gone and everything has become new so the Lord urged me to get baptized so after this verse the Lord spoke the past has gone you have become a new creation so on May 29th 2005 I got my water baptism secretly after that I was able to hear the voice of God and the Lord guided me and he made me do literature though I was a common student and breaking all the superstitious beliefs not to start anything on a Tuesday I went and joined college on a Tuesday though all the Hindus were saying you might fail in your education because anything you start on a Tuesday ends up in failure according to the Hindu belief but I said every day is blessed by my Lord and I joined college and for God's glory because I honored him he honored me and he made me get a university rank and stand first in Madras University in my class and just by prayers and through his might and spirit not by my might but through his strength I passed the entrance exams and merit and I got my M fell and the Lord made me a lecturer and promoting me as an assistant professor in one of the leading engineering colleges which I never dreamt of in my life because I have a big flaw in me which is a tank I just like how Moses was I was also like Moses I used to stammer and also speak in babbles you know babbling I was babbling until my even eight or ten standard like speaking like a baby you know my relay you call and thumb it so I used to babble because of this tongue tie which I have which you can see now that is the tongue is joined to the lower jaw it has been stuck with a muscle so I cannot bring out my tongue nor can I speak properly those days can you imagine my friends for God's glory I'm saying the same tongue was used as an lecturer as an assistant professor to teach 75 students in a classroom for 14 years for God's glory I taught can you imagine a person with such a big flaw and I should add on something here my parents by praying for this right from my childhood days and they sort out to a doctor and the doctor said an operation could be made but it might be a success or me not she might go speechless too hence my parents due to the sphere they prayed for to lobotomy in guro our temple kerala india but most of the hindus should be knowing what a to lobotomies it's a weight balance where a person has to sit and according to the person's weight sacrifices are made not as the lambs and goats like those days but anything as you wish pineapples and sugars or whatever my mom prayed for it it should be done before the age of 18 but much ahead the Lord saved me and said I will not enter those idol temples and give myself as a sacrifice or anything else but the Lord has said that he has sacrificed himself for me on the cross so I will not sacrifice these things and they were frightening me that the gods might make you speechless and all but I said the Lord will make me speak for his glory I will give testimony and now I'm doing it my friends it is a truth which has happened in my life which I never dreamt for and I also sing for the Lord but above all that was not the end it was just the beginning of another persecution and a beginning of trials and tests in my life at the time of marriage came my parents were forcing me to get married to very rich affluent a year bridegroom's but one day I had to open up that I can't get equally yoked with an unbeliever and that I was baptized my parents never even knew the meaning of baptism they were so innocent in ignorant my whole family was shattered it was like a death house my mom was crying I had to explain them what is baptism and I had to explain about the Lord to them open up before when I used to explain they were thinking it's a child's talk but now something serious was going on and my parents were really struck and shocked and we were all crying and ultimately the Lord made my parents pray for my sake to Jesus and the Lord changed their hearts I used to ask why Lord my parents should suffer from you I was also crying to the Lord and the Lord said I have a purpose my child and I knew what the purpose was my parents were slowly coming into the Lord and they started praying to Jesus and he started believing him and when he also praying the Lord opened up a door according to my parents desire to get married to a Brahman convert just like me the Lord showed a bridegroom and after many confirmations from the Lord in fact just like Gideon thrice I got a confirmation from the Lord to marry my husband and the Lord confirmed it actually my husband's name is Murthy officially but his biblical and god-given name was Daniel so I used to pray and the Lord said Daniel is the person for you and when the Lord showed him to us and after the confirmation my whole family was filled in peace and joy and my whole family prayed and thanked God for it and I should add on something more over here
