hey guys it's me again um here with another car review I'm in some parking lot I don't know what but today I have my own very own Tesla Model 3 um this is a 2019 model 3 standard range plus nothing special got the uh 19in wheels and I in Red so yeah here she is from the outside the wheels are oh the wheels are curved a little bit um yeah that's equally mine and my wife's fault um so far what I've done is I've had the windows tinted including the front windshield the rear uh the side windows and the rear windows um it's a great looking car I really do enjoy it um but here I'll give you a little tour of it so we're going to start off with probably with a trunk so I don't have automatic um trunk I have to actually lift it and here it is here's my trunk um a little messy a little dirty I got some stuff laying around but you know got the uh Tesla charger in here but it's very spacious if you remember I did the review of the model S um it's not as big as the model S but it's definitely big enough where you can store a lot of things it's got this uh I can't even like this is like a soft but hard kind of material um but yeah no the seats fold so it gives you even more space and room which is cool but again this is a 2019 model I don't have the um automatic trunk opener I believe the new models have that the 2021s and above and so this is how you open the door so here's the rear um I have this like cloth kind of finish it's really nice I like it um these are actual buttons as you can hear which is kind of nicer um in my opinion than the new models that they have but here I am in the back seat I got room um this seat is kind of pushed back don't mind the seat belt but seats kind of pushed back but I still have leg room you know still a little bit of space here still got a little bit of head room here and uh it's got this beautiful panoramic glass which is really really nice no controls in the back but I do have two USB ports usba a that I can use um but the seats are very nice and soft they're also heated I have this seat heated this seat and this seat so it's very nice um you got this armrest right here in the middle that you could just pull down very very cheap very basic but this is what it looks like from the back okay so you know it's it's weird but I feel like you're sitting a little higher up in the back than you are in the front which is kind of interesting but all right so let's go let's go to the front and uh probably we're going to take a little test drive right now see um oh let me show you the frunk actually this is another thing that I don't like I'm recording on my phone so I can't just open the frunk anyhow except either on my phone through the app or you just press that button right there and it opens up for you is kind of annoying um I don't like that there's no like button or anything but there's just just plastic like I don't know I am not really a fan of the way this frun looks um it's kind of it's not that big but it's not too small it's pretty deep inside I stood sideways so you can see like there's like this incline right here that you can put stuff but it's nothing I mean I did use it a few times but it's nothing that you know that really excites me and then funny story you have to actually press down either twice with one hand or if you use two hands you could just press down here and here and push down and it'll close from the first dry that really frustrated me in the beginning but kind of got used to it by now so all right here we are let me just so I'm sitting in the front seat of my model 3 um I'm going to turn on the lights so you can see a little bit more but a nice you know clothy feeling um the seats are also the seats are nice I'm not going to lie the seats are nice you got the wooden trim over here got the steering wheel um again buttons I like buttons although I can hear it like when I touch it I can hear it but um you got all the window controls here everything is in gloss finish um another thing that I want to mention is that this 2019 so from from 2018 and I believe up to 2021 the center console was this like long glossy finish and if I press on it this opens up to put my phone in and this opens up for more storage over here and then you have two cup holders and I believe in the newer models the 2020 one and above they have like a different setup it's a little it's a little different not much but it's still different um but yeah so that's how the car looks and um you know you guys got to see a little bit of everything but now on to the actual car and the car driving and everything else so I'm just going to pull out and we're just going to go and I'm going to talk about it number one thing that I have to say as of this right now as of this recording I'm having problem with my front suspension I don't know if you guys can hear it or not but um after it rains it likes to squeak and it likes to have like this really annoying sound when I turn the steering wheel and I'm not sure if that's a problem that Tesla needs to figure out but it's really irritating and I'm probably going to have to go get um I'm going to have to go to a Tesla Service or or schedule a service in order for them to look at it but it's very annoying very squeaky um and I'm not sure what it is maybe it's like a design flow or something but but besides that so on to the good stuff um I'll tell you a little bit more about my car and why I bought it and etc etc so sit back enjoy grab your coffee this is going to take maybe a little bit um so I bought my car in the beginning of this year it was uh it was um around I think March March of this year so 2023 March I uh I decided to buy a model 3 and the reason why I decided to buy it um keep in mind I'm coming from a 2020 Camry which I love and I loved and everything about it but I'll get to that so I bought my car in 2023 uh March of 2023 and I bought it with the in intentions of actually doing Uber andyt um Uber has this program where you can rent a car through them and I believe they quoted me at400 $450 a week or something along those sorts I'm going to change the angle of the camera but anyways yeah so 450 $50 um a week which is a lot of money it's that's that's kind of a lot I you know for 400 4450 uh dollars a week that's around what 4 8 12 16 that's at least 16 and then two more so $1,800 a month which if you ask me that's like a that's like a very exp expensive car payment um you can be driving some something much better than just like a model 3 but so Uber had that program and I really wanted uh to grab a Tesla Model 3 because I liked how quiet it was um I always uh imagined that people are going to be more you know excited to drive in one and I just felt like it'd be a perfect Uber and lift car which it really is um when I did do Uber and lift it was it was a great car um I got a lot of compliments it was a smooth quiet ride no complaints at all um a lot of people left a lot of good tips and you know whoever driven has driven with me I appreciate all of you guys but it was uh it it's a very comfortable car and it does the job that it needs to in um in like being like a really comfortable small compact car but I wasn't ready to pay $450 a week um to Uber to rent it out for a week in order to drive so I kind of just you know ran the numbers I looked at what they're uh priced at currently well priced at at that time and I found this 2019 model standard range plus with 20,000 Mi for 30 I believe like $33,000 and I did some math in my head um obviously without the APR without the percentage I forgot to uh include that but without all without all of that it it was around like 400 300400 $500 range a month and I just kind of you know I'd rather pay $500 a month and own the car and you know I'm paying it monthly not weekly but there was the other question of if I buy it how would I like it as a daily driver right so I remember I came to the dealership um sat inside of it I drove it I took it around the block and honestly I really enjoyed it my first impressions were quiet smooth um not the softest but not like overly rough it's like a it's like a smooth kind of stiff ride which that's a weird way to say it but it really is and um I I really did like it I really liked the car I really liked how how like okay so I'm a I'm also a software developer or I'm you know I'm a tester but anyways that's besides the point um I really like technology and I like and I like things that are Advanced but not like extremely Advanced and before anybody says anything in the comments I'm not a hater against gas cars or other vehicles um but I did like the idea of electric cars and electric uh yeah electric cars and the technology that comes with it like gas cars are cool and like I said I had a 2020 Camry which had you know a fair amount of technology in it but it's more of the car itself this car it has a lot more of the technology features um I as you can see I'm driving right now and it's a very comfortable like the okay so another thing is on all of the Teslas I believe you can switch what like what kind of steering output you want so there's a comfort standard and a sport mode which if you put it in Comfort the steering wheel is like super light like like almost no effort here right standard a little bit more stiffer and then you got sport which is really stiff well not really stiff it just feels very heavy very weighted um which I do like but going back to my story with me buying the uh car sorry I got a little off track here um so I bought the car and I was like would I really want this car longterm so I started researching I started Googling I started youtubing I started finding everything out that I possibly could and in this video I hope I can answer majority of the questions that I had um with this uh with this review or this video anyways so my number one question was the range R Everyone likes to talk about the range everyone is curious about it any person who sits in my car says so what do you get out of this thing blah blah blah blah so the 2019 standard range plus came with 240 Mi of range do I get 240 Mi of range no absolutely not that's the one thing I wish I wish people in their reviews actually told us um the real numbers instead of going all you know technical and being like Oh for this kilowatt hour no no listen just hear me out the car is supposed to have 240 Mi that's from 100% down to zero now Tesla always recommends you to drive anywhere between 80 or 90% down to 20 or 30% so like I personally keep my car between 80 and 30 now if you calculate that 80 and 30 that's only 50% so I only use 50% of my battery which if you even calculate 240 / 2 is 120 m per 50% now I have done that I've gotten 120 miles every 50% which is the EPA rating which is correct and everything's great but now here comes other things so the 2019s or what should I say up to 2021 before they had the cabin heater or a different heating system um I have to really look into that but I believe I have something called ipv while um the newer models have something else it's like a different heating system where it Heats faster better more efficient Etc but if we're talking about strictly of my car um I have this ipv heater or whatever this is and what happens is the car when it needs to warm up it takes a lot of battery and in the summer times this car is great um I get very very good efficiency my car doesn't take a lot of charge overnight doesn't lose any charge it's really great car um but the one place that it does suck is winter time now I do have a rear wheeel drive model so technically it's supposed to to be more efficient than all-wheel drive but I also have the 19in wheels which do take up a little bit of uh efficiency and power not power but actually yes a little bit of power as well and it's not you know it's not as efficient as the 18in wheels but um with that being said in the winter time I don't get a lot I'm just going to be honest with you guys I if I get even between 80 and 30% even if I get 70 80 M of range that's like good you know it it really does suck in a winter time or in the like cold um cold climates but another thing I should know um so I live in apartments I don't uh I don't own a home I don't have a charger at home and the one issue that I have is obviously that I can't charge when I come back from work or whatever and most people will argue well why do you care about the range if you could just come in and plug in I'm a person who can do that um I don't have a home I don't have a place to charge and I did actually run an extension cord out from my window of my apartment down my balcony down the par like through the parking lot to my car and I've tried doing that and honestly it does help it does help a lot but um let's just say that I couldn't do that that you know let's just go back to the time where I didn't do that and overnight especially in the winter time uh my car would would drop maybe 2% 1% keep no Sentry mode no nothing just sitting uh about 2% because of the cold but then there's another thing where in the winter time you want to get into a car where it's warmed up it's comfortable it's you know everything is great I don't know why I said that no I meant like you want to come into a warm ready car to go cuz you want to warm up the battery you want to warm up the car you want to warm up your butt your steering wheel everything so that takes a lot um usually that takes me another 7 8% so you know you're down already 10% from the 80 to 30% now I'm down and I have 70 to 30 right and again if I were to sit in this car from the very start like from the very morning right I sat down I have 70 now instead of 80 and I were to drive it all day long yes I could get the 100 120 mile range for those uh 50% but that's not the case because normally you know you get in the car you drive to a spot you drop it off the battery gets cold again and then you have to do not the whole process over but majority of majority of it again I live in the uh Northeast so my Winters are at night it's really cold during the day it can warm up like right now it's 46° outside um but I believe at night it was like 28 27 26 somewhere in that range you know which is a big difference it's you know it's almost 20 20° warmer outside and the battery obviously acts differently so throughout the day you're getting more range but still again the battery cools off you would want to warm up the battery before you go unless you you know took a long drive and also the battery doesn't stay warm for a very long time it stays warm for maybe so after I leave the car and let's say I get back into it into the car 5 minutes into the car I um the battery is still warm not as warm but still warm but if I were to leave the car for like 30 minutes 40 minutes and anything above that the battery got cold again and it's not like it's like cold cold but it's noticeably cold you'll notice that you're not as efficient as you should be um and it takes maybe another 10 minutes for the battery to warm up so like it is annoying it is it is a like a little process but again there's pros and there's cons to things and I would say I'm talking about the cons more well I'm still explaining why I bought the car but I'm also saying you know what the cons are of the car and all of those things are annoying but again as a Uber driver or was an Uber driver um I barely Drive anymore it all still seem made it's all still made sense to me only because whenever I drove on my Camry even though I've gotten I want to say like 35 3 6 mes to a gallon on that car um that was like maybe in the today's price uh gas prices it's 345 literally just past the gas station Today's prices my Camry would have been around I want to say like $60 per fill up but what I did when I drove Uber on the Camry was every evening I believe or every other evening I filled up 20 bucks I I actually not every other evening every evening cuz I would drive for a few hours so 20 bucks was my fill up and it was never enough because I needed to you know use the car afterwards we only had the Camry at the time and right now we only have the Tesla by the way um but yeah so 20 bucks per fill up and 60 bucks for a full tank when I did the research on the C uh Tesla and then when I tried it one key difference is it is a lot cheaper to own a Tesla um for now like I'm not talking you know 5 6 years like like Tesla likes to uh advertise they go oh within 5 years you're going to save like three grand maybe maybe you are but I needed a car now I needed to save money now and I needed uh a reliable car now so um as far as uh gas prices and everything I normally supercharge and I my supercharging prices are from I'm going to range so it's around from like seven bucks to3 $14 um depending on the area depending on the supercharger everyone's charging differently like I know up in Massachusetts I've charged at 43 cents uh kilowatt and then here in the PA in PA um I charge around I want to say in the 30s um I believe one spot is like 31 so the one that I go to is like 33 cents anyways it comes out to like 11 12 13 bucks every time which isn't bad because I do have to charge pretty much every day since I drive a lot um and this is the only car that my wife and I use so yeah charging is a lot cheaper on the Camry um another thing was maintenance now I told told you guys that my suspension squeaks which by the way right now it's not really squeaking but um the maintenance on this thing is cheaper as well uh I I do drive with one pedal only I use the regenerative braking all the time which is really nice and it helps and it is efficient but because of that I barely use the brakes and since I barely use the brakes my car currently is at I want to say oh I don't 53,723 you'd want to change your brakes but I checked mine out I think last week and they were totally fine um definitely not low I mean they're not brand new but they're not too low where you know it's going to be a problem and I have to switch it out so driving for 30,000 Mi is I mean it's not enough to see but we'll see we we're getting there um another thing is I did inspection on this and it was a lot cheaper uh I paid about 50 bucks I believe versus the 100 that I was quoted for the Camry um and then another big thing is oil so I have driven this car in particular 30,000 mil and if we calculate every 5,000 to change oil like you're supposed to um 5 10 so that's six times and let's say an oil change is let's say 80 bucks right so 80 * 6 it's $240 no that's more sorry my math is terrible um $480 yeah 4 * 6 is 48 so $480 in oil changes within I bought this car in the beginning of the year so within a year of me driving personally me I know some people are going to be like yeah well I only drive my car 10,000 miles in that case you know a a normal car might be a good thing for you but I drive a lot 30,000 Mi 500 bucks still money um especially right now I'm I'm currently looking for a job that's why I'm doing these YouTube videos but anyways so when I bought this car um like I said I had the intentions of saving money and I really do with the model 3 um but whoever's watching this right now I would I would highly suggest you going out and looking for a model that's 2021 and a long range um only because it does it does go a lot further um you have less range anxiety and it's just uh it's just a more overall efficient car um these 19 models and the ones like below even the Model S's um aren't as great on range and they're not as efficient but I do have to mention this this is a very very fun car to drive um I'm all about you know Sports speed uh my Camry that I had prior to this I actually like modded a lot I had the air suspension on I try to make sure um it was a it was like a fun car to drive and that's what really happened I I really enjoyed my Camry but I wanted more and I wanted quick I wanted fast I wanted Sleek I wanted comfortable and I did get everything that I asked for I did s sacrifice a little bit of my range but I did get those things that I wanted which I'm willing to do I don't know if you will but um this car is very quick uh not extremely quick Not Like the Model S or anything but 0 to 60 in about 5 6 seconds which is fair you know more than enough instant torque is always fun you floor it it goes which is cool um another big thing that I do like about this car is Keys no keys everything is off my phone um I do have a key card that I can use but it's in my wallet I you know I I've never used it maybe like once or twice when my phone was like dead or something but other than that no keys which is really nice you just come up to the car it unlocks for you you walk away from the car it locks for you amazing the app also great I like that I could set the climate put on my butt warmers you know I remember like my wife and I would go to parents's house late at night and it's like you know 30° outside she goes babe can you warm up the car and I go yeah sure of course quickly boom and not only me she also has the phone key so anytime she needs to use the car or she wants to warm it up or do whatever she can also do it like we share one app or like one account it's great it really is it helps a lot I can see where the car is at at all times she can see where the car is at at all times um we can both control it and it's just a really cool thing to have um yeah no keys next up so I talked about speed oh yeah speed instant torque amazing um this car is very grippy well that also comes down to tires but I meant like it's very planted it's very um stuck to the road kind of thing even when it's slippery the ABS system here is great um this is a rear wheel drive I haven't tried it in the snow don't know if I'm going to be stuck or not I feel like I will be but whatever it it is what it is I'm willing I'm willing to deal with it because I didn't have a ton of money to spend back then oh and by the way the prices of Teslas dropped you can get for 40 Grand you can get a brand new one um and I paid 32 for a used 19 which is terrible um I I feel like I I got ripped off a little bit but that's besides the point I bought the car already you know we're deal with it we're stuck with it so yeah but I give you guys a little uh POV look here so you have this beautiful screen all right this screen is beautiful I don't know whoever says what I really enjoy this screen um it shows you pretty much everything you need it's got the navigation all the controls down here you could turn on the climate here re seats are here you know very very comfortable um I usually use all of these steering wheel stuff so over here you have the windshield wiper you just press in you have the gear selector here um this turns on music and turns off music you can switch it just a very comfortable easy to use kind of car um I don't have full self-driving but it does have this where I completely take my foot off and the car is driving steering as well um I believe this is just a regular autopilot but it doesn't work everywhere um I see there's like a turning lane over here but I had to come over this side so well there you go I had to stop and see wow the car just did all that by itself um cameras great I can see the cameras I use Spotify for my music um heated seats here's all the controls you know you could switch everything you want everything you need the air vents are out of here which is really nice um these are kind of smallish but again I like that you know it kind of fits you know it looks good I don't know um by the way just regular like soft material nothing special nothing crazy these light up which my wife use my wife uses all the time [Music] um but yeah really like this car really actually would recommend it um I would recommend it to the people who have a house or a home or a place to charge or put a charger um would recommend it to students to college kids who still either live at their parents's or you know don't have a ton of money to to spend um this is a great car um and also I would recommend it to the people who don't drive far and by far I mean more than I want to say 100 150 miles um in a day and that this is all within my model 3 I haven't driven the 2023 and I don't know the range on that one but I wouldn't recommend to go too far with this one um because it's just annoying to constantly charge not annoying but like you know you kind of want to get things done um I don't want to just charge in the morning and then in the evening I'm like okay babe I'm going to go charge you know you kind of want to just charge in the morning and then you just you know have a car maybe the next morning you can charge but not you know in the same day at least that's my opinion that's how I feel um but yeah this car is great serves its purpose I love driving it it's fast it's comfortable actually so I'm going 50 right now right we got a straight road a little bit up ahead so I'm just going to go ahead and punch in three 2 one go oh yeah oh yeah pickup is great not the fastest car but definitely not the slowest you can overtake take a lot of cars and I don't know I just I really do enjoy this car I like it's got so many negative things but I really really do like it so again thank you guys for listening to me talk for this whole time I know as as these YouTube videos you know come out I kind of want to start learning how to do a couple things but if you can the comments throw a couple of suggestions you know tell me what I could change what I you know what I could do better um I'm I'm open to you know different ideas and yeah that concludes this ride in this conversation so if you guys want to see something else hear something else please leave a comment like sub subscribe and I'll see you soon peace
